I booked two nights at Parador de las Cañadas del Teide and unfortunately had a deeply disappointing experience. A severe storm hit Tenerife during my trip, the roads were closed, and I physically couldn’t reach the hotel. I called repeatedly for advice - only one call was answered, and I was told someone who spoke English would call me back, but no one ever did. I also sent several messages and received no response at all.

With no help from the hotel, I contacted Expedia. They tried multiple times to reach the property and request assistance, but the hotel either didn’t respond or didn’t engage. Under the booking terms I should have been able to cancel and forfeit only the first night..

I had no choice but to urgently find somewhere else to stay. The whole situation was stressful, unnecessary, and could have been avoided if the hotel had shown even basic communication or care. Natural disasters happen, but leaving a guest stranded without support is neither understandable nor acceptable.

This became an expensive mistake, and I hope the hotel and Expedia review what happened and provide the refund that should have been issued. No traveller should be unable to reach a hotel due to road closures and be met with complete silence from the property.

The hotel and restaurant was goid, however we had a bad experience with the bar. Whatever I tried to order the barman said they had none except for beer, i have never seen a bar with no orange juice. When i ordered radler the barman said they had none but when i told him to look in the refridgerator where the barman had got some fom earlier he found it. We were told when we checked in that the bar is open until 10.30 but were refused service at 10.10 and were told the bar is closed because there are not many guests at the hotel. Because of this and the prevoius experience of the bar not having anything we asked for one member of my parry had nothing to drink all night. This is unacceptable.

The hotel is in a dramatic location and its warm and cozy while the wind and rain is battering outside (we had a storm while we were there). However, there are too few staff and that affects the quality of service. They're doing their best, but service at breakfast and dinner is slow and the staff don't seem happy at all.
Our room was well appointed and spacious but the beds were extremely hard and we didn't sleep well for 3 nights. We still have muscular aches now because of the beds even though we've been home a night.
Parking is limited and the general public park on both sides of the road leading up to the hotel, creating traffic congestion, so its problematic to leave and return during the day.
Great location, hotel could be so much better.

Really nice place to stay in the national park, but there were a lot of mosquitos in the area and the air conditioning not cooling the room did not help the situation. The floors were a bit dirty, but the room as a whole was neat and tidy.
The staff were friendly and helpful but did not speak a lot of foreign languages fluently.
I really enjoyed the picnic breakfast option, it was very convinient for someone setting off earlier than the normal breakfast time. The option to have a small meal or la cena up to 9:30pm was also very nice for myself so i could explore the national park more.
I cant comment on the other facilities as i did not use the gym or pool.

Overall I would recommend this property! The location and the surrounding views were awesome. The volcano activities and local hiking was great. The restaurant & the included breakfast was wonderful.
Had a problem with the Air Conditioning & the windows didn't have screens, so we couldn't open them due to all the flies.

Another beautiful week @Parador Hotel. My room with mountain views, peaceful early morning walks @ sunrise around Teide before the coach loads arrived. Perfect blue skies, warm days enhanced my stay.
The evening meal in the restaurant was very tasty, staff generally very friendly. There is a swimming pool though my main reasons to stay there again are the amazing and peaceful walks and beautiful scenery allowing great photography. Parador hotels generally seem to be in idyllic locations.

Priced high for the product delivered -my opinion

An auto opening outer door, or some way to hold it open would facilitate the awkward ingress/egress of luggage since it all comes through the main door in addition to what will probably be a long walk with a stair drop in the upper walkway. Rooms were fine with no real complaints. I found the restaurant overpriced, for the food served, and surprisingly the dinner service was poor.

Was spending 3 days with friends photographing around the hotel region. The hotel was exceptional.

Clean rooms with all the amenities you could ask for air conditioning, bathroom amenities and plush towels.

Staff were always helpful with a smile.

Spent a great 3 nights there. Will be going back with my kids next year.

We liked 24h front desk and generally friendly staff except one receptionist who was extremely rude (man around 35-40 years old with partially grey hair). We booked this hotel for 2 nights primarily to have easy access to the National park. It was an amazing experience to see Teide and all the beautiful roques laying at the Teide foot (Queens shoe, Roques Garcia, Roque Chicando). We made it all the way up (3718 m)!

- The pool was closed (it was open at all other hotels at Tenerife). There was a booking system for breakfast because of \"corona\" (again, only at this hotel), and it was not possible to book a taxi, although hotel is very isolated from the \"civilization\". \"There is only one car in Villaflor\" - sounded like a joke to us. Because if it is the case, the hotel should have couple of bikes to rent :)

One receptionist was extremely rude, who completely destroyed the first image of the hotel. He knew nothing and was of zero help. The first night water was running on the floor at the bathroom, probably from a rotten tube. There are better hotels at Villaflor

Wonderful hotel! An excellent option if you want to acclimatize before climbing Mount Teide. The room was very spacious and clean. Wonderful view from the room and the restaurant. The food at the restaurant was excellent, but not many vegetarian options were available. You can see Mount Teide while eating. Excellent location and friendly staff.

There is mini fridge but no electric kettle , would be great if they provided. Baby cot was provided for my little son and was also clean and convenient

Fantastic Hotel and Views

I stayed here for 2 nights to do some star photography and it was perfect for it. The weather conditions weren’t perfect for star photography but I got some decent images. It’s literally across the road from the Roques de García. A 5 minute walk from hotel entrance.

Parking got busy during the day due to tours, but managed to park across the road. Cable car station is 3 miles away - a short drive.

Hotel room was big, comfortable with a massive bed (all for me). The bar served hot drinks till quite late (a must after photographing stars in -1°C).

Restaurant food isn’t the best, some of the food came out cold. I did half board due to no other places in the area. The menu was quite old fashioned Spanish. Was ok for a couple of nights. Don’t expect to find any other cuisines on the menu though! Breakfast was continental and pretty decent.

Would come back again for a couple nights (in summer to get that best stars at night)

I bought an overnight stay for my Daughter and her partner for xmas ,a double superior room was purchased online but when they arrived they were given a tiny twin room, having viewed this they immediately went to reception to complain, luckily i had printed off what i had purchased , so my daughter showed the girl on reception an told her it was booked online, to which the girl replied that the information online doesnt always get through to the hotel ???? when my daughter asked why have it advertised online then ? she was given no answer, asked for the correct room and were subsequently moved to a totally different room, much bigger with a large double bed. just what i had booked and paid for! So was the hotel just trying to book a superior double room to someone else to make a few quid?? All very annoying,and not impressive. On a brighter note the food was excellent.

perfect location for star gazing

The hotel is inside the ancient volcano crater (not the top peak) which means it’s a perfect base for walking around the huge Mount Teide national park. There are amazing trails right on the door step. Plus you are only a few minutes drive from the cable car to the top, giving you ample opportunity to beat the queues. Venture out after dark and see the stars with no light pollution. The drive up is twisty in places but the road has a brand new surface on it.
The hotel itself was built in the 1920s and has an alpine feel about it. The staff were great and always willing to help. The hotel room was spotless, and views out of the windows were amazing. 5stars all round from us.

A perfect stay in Tenerife Parador by Teide.

The location is perfect for a keen walker and photographer With spectacular sunrises and sunsets viewed from my room that was very comfortable. Early morning walks after amazing sunrises were then possible in peace before the coaches arrived.

Great Location

As you will discover, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so we didn't have a great deal of choice when wanting to stay near Mount Tiede and so opted for one night here. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable enough for a decent nights sleep although not as comfortable as hotels rated similarly in other locations we had visited during our stay in Tenerife.

The evening meal was overpriced for the quality. The english menu translations were hilarious (possibly aided by the giddiness of being at 2000M altitude!), so opt for the Spanish menu if you know a little Spanish as this will likely be a clearer and more accurate version of what you actually receive on your plate.

Breakfast had a fairly extensive choice of fruit, breads, cooked and cold options.

All in all a fairly good experience.

In the heart of the Teide National Park

Very convenient location as it is located in the heart of the extraordinary Teide National Park, just across the road from Roques de Garcia, and a 5-minute drive to the cable car station.
The room is large, but was a bit cold. Bathroom was adequate. The biggest let down was the breakfast, overpriced at 19 EUR/person (we had a wonderful breakfast in a 4-star hotel in La Laguna for 10 EUR/person...). I'd still stay there given the convenience - the park is the attraction (world class, think national parks in the Western U.S.)!

Remote paradise

I'm a solo traveler stayed there for 2 nights. Disappointed not able to visit the Mount Teide due to bad weather. However I have plan B doing the hiking instead, which I did enjoy the hike.

My personal note for solo traveler(without own hired car) :
1 : Public transport is a pain and complicated, the only bus from the hotel to the main tourist center(Playa Americas/Adeje) is at 4pm once daily! The other choice is by taxi(costing almost the same price as my air tickets to Tenerife).
2 : The cable car station is located 4km from the hotel, only way is to walk!
3 : Not really need to book the ticket for the cable car as subject to weather condition, need to call them in order to get the refund. Luckily I have Roberto(Hotel receptionist) to sort out my problem. Many thanks to him.

This is the only hotel in the middle of the national park. Good for stargazing. There is nothing around so either have dinner at the restaurant. There was no Wi-Fi during our stay as it was broken. If you are a nature lover then definitely stay for a night.

Great location for visiting Teide

Great location to visit Teide - right opposite Los Roques, and near cable car station. Stayed one night at the hotel, room comfort can be better for the price we paid. WiFi worked better in the common areas, poor reception in the room. Front desk very helpful with information about when to visit Teide and you can buy tickets for the cable car there which is helpful as the opening hours of the cable car is weather dependent. We did half board, dinner at the restaurant was good both in terms of portion and taste. Service I felt was a bit rushed as they closed at 10pm which is early for the Spanish! Breakfast was just ok, expected better. Swimming pool looked small. Common areas are spacious and comfortable and nicely decorated. Overall was worth the price for the location. My husband went out at night to shoot star trails, and we didn't have to wake up at an ungodly hour to get to the cable car station. Do go before 11am as the queues build up very quickly!

Parador in paradise

A one night stay to give my wife and I longer to explore all the volcanic features of the area. The hotel has an indoor pool and a gym available too, but with so much around to see we did not use these on this occasion. We chose a new moon night for our visit so that there was minimal other light in the sky and the views of the stars were marvellous once we had got a little distance away from the hotel lights. In the morning we were able to get to the cable car soon after it opened at 9am and straight onto it before the crowds started to arrive from the coastal resorts.

A truly remarkable place

The only hotel in the midst of the national park, at an astonishing 2km altitude and yet the comfort is astonishing. There was a big fire burning in the bar, dinner and breakfast were very nice, there was even free WiFi (and very fast by the standards of the Canary Islands). Please do have a look at the stars. You'll be stunned.

Stunning location. Room was very good - light, airy, clean. Slight fault in room (leaking shower) was rectified immediatley by the friendly hotel staff. Room cleaned daily to a high standard. Good menu in dining room for evening meals serving very tasty local dishes. Only downside was that more waiting staff are required in the dining room in the evening. Excellent breakfast. Overall - very good hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Great stay!

We stayed for three nights. The location is amazing but very remote. The room was lovely and spacious.

The only downside is the food in the restaurant is expensive and not great. The only other option for meals is the cafeteria.

They offer free stargazing session on Friday night. However this is in Spanish only ( few words in English) and it doesn't include the use of telescopes. We didn't get much out of it and missed the opportunity to go to the professional astronomy session put on by volcano life as its on the same day.

Pretty good - but it's the only option

Staying here enabled a superb and unforgettable visit to Mt Teide, and this outweighs by far any niggling aspects of the hotel. But the hotel is pretty fantastic too, considering where it is. Those on a budget will bridle at the cost, especially in the restaurant, where they might question the ideal of grand dining on top of a mountain.

Hotel is in a stunning location in the middle of the Teide National Park and a 5 minute drive to the base of the El Teide cable car. The hotel staff are very friendly and whilst the breakfast and dinner were top class the service at breakfast was very slow - took us 20 minutes to get served a coffee! Apart from that small gripe I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

A great hotel with walks in the volcanic landscape direct from the door. it is just 3km from the cable car up El Teide (with a footpath all the way) and opposite Los Rogues. Good restaurant. Great breakfast. Good pool and small gym.

Tout s’est très bien déroulé, l’hôtel est globalement bien entretenu, confortable, accueillant, dans un cadre exceptionnel et le personnel est très aimable mais le restaurant est infréquentable quand on est végétarien : dans la « sopa de verdura « , flottait un morceau de viande ( type jambon) et un des deux plats de légume proposés ( aubergine au fromage) était bon mais servi à peine tiède et très léger pour le prix : un végétarien a besoin d’autant de calories que les autres, il n’est pas au régime , c’est juste qu’il ne mange pas de cadavre animal…est-ce si difficile à comprendre ? Nous étions un peu déçues ( même si nous avions prévu le coup, parce que nous sommes habituées à sortir des restaurants en ayant plus faim, pour le même prix, que nos camarades carnivores)

Good but could do better

The Superior room was fine, with a great view on the Teide - even if quite noisy near the elevator and too hot. Unfortunately, we had a very bad welcoming at the reception desk, with a lack of understanding and a bit of aggressiveness. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent, the breakfast was fine. The private parking is a great advantage, considering the difficulty to park in this touristic area.

Pour la situation

Hôtel pas tout jeune mais propre et très bien situé, c'est ce qui fait son plus.

On as pris la demi-pension que je trouve chère vis-à-vis du prix de la restauration sur le reste de l'île.

Vu qu'il y a un bar qui fait des en-cas et une bouilloire dans la chambre, si j'avais su je ne l'aurai pas pris.

Une partie du personnel parle un peu français ce qui est un plus mais certains autres étaient assez froid.

Superbes randonnées et un calme absolu au réveil

Le parc du Teide est un plaisir au printemps comme à l'automne. Le parador c'est le silence absolu du matin au lever du soleil et la possibilité de randonner quand on veut.
Très bon petit-déjeuner. Carte du dîner moins attirante mais OK. Literie confortable, salle de bain avec un certain cachet et serviettes de toilettes super! Nous aimons bien le côté légèrement vintage qui colle bien avec le paysage intemporel. Nous sommes venus il y a 2 ans, nous reviendrons dans 2 ans pour essayer de tester avec de la neige?

Emplacement exceptionnel pour ce Parados.
Nous avons passé deux jours au calme avec vue sur la caldeira depuis notre grande chambre. La demi-pension est bien pratique est d'une très bonne qualité (sans être exceptionnelle néanmoins) ; vous avez droit à un buffet très complet pour le petit déjeuner et pour le dîner, deux plats dessert, boissons non comprises.
Nous avons passé un super séjour dans ce très bel hôtel ; plein de très bons souvenirs.

War erstaunt so ein tolles Hotel dort vorzufinden, das Zimmer perfekt, Personal und Essen hervorragend.

Einzig der Speiseraum ist m.E. etwas zu hallenmäßig, ist aber \"Jammern auf hohem Niveau\".
Das Hotel empfehle ich gerne weiter.

Lieu magnifique, isolé avec le Teide comme décor.
Chambre et confort très bien, le restaurant et le petit déjeuner sont excellents . Des randonnées depuis l hôtel dans ce paysage incroyable est possible.

Magische Momente

Die Lage in den Cañadas del Teide ist einzigartig. Der Blick aus den Zimmern ist einfach überwältigend. Es sind schöne grosse saubere Zimmer mit schöner Nostalgie. Abends und nachts kann man die wunderschöne Landschaft mit wenig Touristen geniessen unf der Sternenhimmel ist einfach magisch. Nur Frühstück würde ich nicht mehr buchen. Es hat schon - vielleicht durch Corona - deutlich nachgelassen und ist aus meiner Sicht den Preis nicht mehr wert. Schade.
