This was the perfect tree lined cabin retreat. We stayed here for 6 nights during our time exploring Plitvice Lakes National Park. This place felt peaceful and like a step back in time. Wood fired BBQ, hammocks and outdoor seating areas were nice. Pet friendly for our little pup. Everything was clean and well maintained. You need a vehicle here, same as other places in the area. I’d stay again and highly recommend!

Check-in at Bistro, complimentary drink of our choice on arrival. Owner took us to the house which is situated in parkland a few minutes drive away. The room was very clean and tidy, had all amenities. We walked to the Bistro to eat - generous portions & delicious food. Richard was our server, he was very welcoming, attentive & spoke excellent English always happy to help with recommendations from the menu. We had some laundry done while we were there, very quick turn around at a very reasonable price - with a smile too. You need a car to stay & see the beautiful Plitvice Lakes. Everyone was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble - would definitely recommend.

This place is like a fairy tale, we absolutely loved Rústico! It’s so green, the little cabins and rooms are perfect for one or two nights to visit the park.
The lady who welcome us was so sweet and nice.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is in a quiet street, but only a few minutes’ drive from the national park entrances. Rooms are simple, but comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, better than many accommodations I’ve stayed in. The lodging is under the same ownership as a nearby restaurant, where we had tasty breakfast and dinner, and friendly service.

A fabulous small house with everything you could want and more than you would expect. Family owned & operated, and they were all very kind, informative, and friendly. Check in & out was at a nearby Bistro (amazing food and service) was quick and simple. They have multiple tables and chairs to hand out at outside the home, and relaxing hammocks. 10/10 would recommend and would return!

We had a fantastic stay at House Rustico! We were welcomed at the nearby Restaurant Vila Velebita with a complementary drink. Everyone was really friendly and the check in was really straightforward. The property is very close by and is in a relaxed, quiet location with plenty of parking and a nice place to sit outdoors. The room was super comfortable, very clean and we felt very relaxed there. The check out was very simple and was also at the restaurant where we had an excellent breakfast before our day at the Plitvice Lakes National Park. I highly recommend staying here!

Plitvice lakes is nearby by car. We didn’t have a car, but the hotel owner drove us there for a reasonable fee! He will also drive you to the nearest bus station for free. Super clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable, room spacious and A/C worked perfectly when needed, otherwise the windows were open for fresh air. Outside there is a sitting area with chairs, hammocks, shaded by tall trees, perfect for working on a laptop or reading — or just listening and enjoying outside. There are areas to walk your dog off property as well. The housekeeping staff were amazing — so nice, friendly and they keep the place impeccable. The owner’s mother was a total sweetheart! For food, their restaurant is just quick walk away and has a huge menu, and has options for non-meat eaters, both vegan and vegetarian (grilled veggies —mushrooms…..wow!). Don’t feel like walking? They have bikes you can ride. The National Park is a short drive away (suggest you make reservations). Our stay at House Rustico was the best stay of our whole time in Croatia.

This property was perfect! Amazing hospitality! Delicious food at the bistro with a welcome drink. The property had thought of every detail - cookies and a candy basket, a kitchen with full dishware, a patio with a dog house and clothesline, a washing machine, showers in each of the three bathrooms, ample sleeping space and so much more! The owners/managers were readily available to help with any needs and were so friendly. I highly recommended this place! Wish we had more time to spend here. Also, easy driving distance to the National Park.

House Rustico is a beautiful property. We absolutely loved our stay there. We were greeted warmly and treated like family throughout our stay. We borrowed their bikes and enjoyed riding through the gorgeous villages nearby. The accommodations were clean and well kept. It is a wonderful spot for families. We were sad to leave. Don’t forget to try the mushroom soup at Vila Velebita!

Fantastic place to stay when visiting the lakes

My wife and I were really impressed with House Rustico. The room and building was spotlessly clean and the room was very pleasant and comfortable. We had everything we needed in the room and there was some nice thoughtful touches like fresh fruit and complimentary sweets. Nice bathroom and shower and very comfortable bed.

We met the owner at the Vila Velebita, which is his restaurant just around the corner from the accommodation. For reference the restaurant is on the main road, as you come from the north (having past Plitvice Lakes), it is on the right hand side just before the sharp turning you take to get to House Rustico.

You stop at the restaurant to check in and you are given a complimentary drink, which includes anything from the drinks menu including alcoholic drinks. After enjoying our drink, we were given the keys and head around the corner (2 minute drive) to the room. At the room we are met by the owners mum who is very friendly. She showed us the room and put the heating on for us (slightly unseasonal weather for the time of year - mid May). As we were only there for one night we didn’t get a lot of time at the property but they had free bicycles for guest use and a nice outdoor area for sitting.

Finally we went back to Vila Velebita for dinner and both the food and the staff were superb. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal I would highly recommend eating here during your stay.

Just to note, the drive to Plitvice lakes is approx. 20 mins.

We had a wonderful stay at House Rústico. The host and his family were so kind and welcoming. We checked in at the restaurant and received a free welcome drink. We also had access to bikes and hammocks in the yard. The home was very nice and comfortable for our party of 6. The host even corrected an error in the pricing that had overcharged us on the website (despite us not knowing that we had been overcharged). Overall, I would recommend this location to anyone traveling to/from Plitvice lakes.

Our US-based family of 4 (including one 17 and one 12 y.o.) stayed at House Rustico in early July 2022 while visiting Plitvice National Park. The cabin is quite charming, with good commons/sitting spaces, kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. The washing machine was a life-saver on a multi-week European trip. The cabin is conveniently located near Plitvice NP, and the nearby restaurant also owned by the cabin owners is excellent. There are a few cabins on the property, but we felt very private. Would highly recommend, and wish we could have stayed longer!

The checkin was complicated. We followed the address on google maps but the checkin was supposed to be done at the restaurant.

The AC did not work and the heater was off therefore at night we felt a bit cold.

But it is near Plitvice lakes so for us it was good enough.

The place is super cosy, modern and clean. Perfect if you're looking for accommodation around the lake area. With Google maps we had no issues finding the place, and there is a restaurant/bar very close to it. where you check out and leave the keys but also can get a wonderful breakfast in the morning at the same time.

The staff is very kind and helpful. We are grateful to have found it and will definitely be coming back as we drive by car to Croatia again in the future. Very much recommended!

Great location which is very pretty. Nice rustic rooms. Great shower. Staff really helpful Have to register at the a close by restaurant but they give you a drink. Very good meals available. Had a fabulous day at the Lakes but if going go as soon as it opens as the crowds even in October were a nightmare particularly when trying to navigate a path along the boardwalk which coach load after coach load of tourists just take over and expect you to stop or move for them.

House Rustico was delightful, a cute cabin which was a very pleasant surprise. Our family (2 adults and 3 teenage girls) stayed for two nights in early October while visiting Plitvice Lakes. We fitted comfortably in the two story cabin, which had two bedrooms and plenty of living space for us. There was also a small kitchen with fridge, microwave, etc plus a toilet and shower both upstairs and down.

The check-in process at Vila Velebita (3 min drive from house) was easy. We were directed to the house where someone was waiting for us with the fire going! The staff we met were excellent. Helpful, friendly and very good English, great for us as we don’t speak Croation!

The cabin had great outdoor facilities too. There was a small veranda with seat, hammocks to loll about in and bikes available to use. We ate at Vila Velebita one night, the food was simple, but good. The portions were large and there were plenty of options at reasonable prices.

We chose House Rustico due to its proximity to Plitvice Lakes. It’s a short 15 minute drive to entrance number 2 of the park which was very easy from the house. The house also had decent wifi throughout which my daughters used extensively!

House Rustico is simple, great value accommodation. It’s not fancy, but it punches above its weight for value and we found it perfectly suitable for our family’s needs. I would definitely recommend it for a few nights if you’re visiting Plitvice.

The house is very good and it is managed by owner who also owns a restaurant. Each house has about 4 rooms and our was on the 2nd floor. They have hammocks outside the house and it’s in a quiet place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You have to do the check in at the restaurant which is about 100m from the house. We would Definitely visit here if we come to Plitvice again. The drive to Plitvice is just about 15 mins. The staff was very warm and friendly and they have welcome drink on the house.

We found the room and the House Rustico at large to be an oasis compared to the crowds at the parks. We enjoyed laying in the hammocks when it wasn’t raining and were grateful for a warm, strong shower after getting caught in the rain on a hike. While the food at the associated restaurant is wonderful and the service friendly, it’s important to note that it isn’t on the property and guests will need to drive there.

When we got to the place, Ana Marie Met us outside and directed us to our room. Only “down” thing is the beds are hard as rocks. Absolutely no “give” in the mattress. Great value for the price.

Great location - 3 x rural chalet lodges - with clean, spacious rooms. We stayed 2 nights in 2 x rooms (2 different lodges). Catering is off site at nearby Bistro Vila Velebita (2 minute drive, 10 minute walk) just off the main highway to Plitvice. Only drawback - the beds are incredibly HARD!

Honestly this was the best place that we stayed at on our trips throughout Europe. It is a shame that we only stayed there 1 night. There was a fore in the fire place when we arrived. The host added more wood to the fire when we went for dinner at their restaurant. This was well worth the money we spent for a night.

The only problem we found is that there are not enough plugs in the room which are convenient to plug-in phones and other devices. Also no breakfast and tea or coffee facilities on site.

I am a very clean and organized person, so when I say that a place is cleaner than my house, it mean absolutely A LOT, and that hotel is. The hotel keeper was fantastic, so sweet and totally into details. In the sense of the hotel itself, even being as it is called a rustic house, that was by far the best hotel I’ve stayed, and I’m fortunate to travel frequently.

Great Stay

House Rustico is a great place to stay while visiting the lakes - very convenient. We were immediately greeted by Anna Marie who is amazing (so friendly and warm) and will help you with anything you need. She even recommended a walking route at Plitvice Lakes, route C, which turned out to be perfect for our family of four.

The unit is rustic - feels like a Swiss chalet, and immaculately clean. Ours had a living room, kitchen, and powder room on the first floor. There were two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. The staircase is extremely small, so we left our luggage downstairs and took what we needed to our rooms as necessary. Would stay there again!

Perfect trip the Plitvice

It is perfect for 2 nights to see the lake. It is a countryside type of lodge, nothing fancy but that’s all you need. The bed was really hard so my back hurt for a while. Very quiet and relaxing stay. The staff did laundry service for free of charge. The restaurant is nearby where you check in and check out. You need a car to stay there and it is 20 mins drive to the lake.

Great visit to the National Park.

We wanted to visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park. House Rustico was a short drive away. The rooms are spacious with private bathrooms Air Conditioning, Fridge free WiFi etc, There is a host on site to answer any questions you might have. The property is in a rural setting with large garden. There are sun loungers and bicycles available free of charge. The building is owned by a local family who also own the restaurant a 15 minute walk away. The restaurant and the House are great value for money. I would stay again if in the area.

Excellent and great for the lakes

A lovely welcome and very nice room and accommodation- great location for the Plitvice Lakes - unfortunately we arrived late evening and left by 7am the next day for the Plitvice Lakes ( 15 minutes drive away) . It’s linked to a pretty restaurant 10 minutes walk away - we were too late for dinner and left before breakfast but had a nice lunch there after our walk at the lakes. Excellent value and would have loved to stay longer

Great place to stay at!

Amazing place with amazing service. Whether you book it for a getaway or as a layover on your way to plitvicka lakes national park, it’s the place where you need to be. Super clean, super comfortable, amazing views with a little garden where you can just sit and relax on benches, on a swing or on your hammock reading a book. Anne Marie wasn’t lying when she said that she is always there if we ever need anything! She is very decent, helpful and always smiling.

Excellent property...5* no doubt..Cozy and comfortable...two floor house with bedrooms (attached bathrooms)in the top floor..kitchen and living room on the ground floor...kitchen is fully equipped with all basic amenities provided...
Property also offers washer and dryer for laundry,staff goes the extra mile to press the clothes.
Barbecue/outside sitting area,hammocks are available..cycle are available for all age groups.all the above is included as part of package..
Neighbourhood is very scenic but slightly far from lake entrance ...easily accessible by car..lake entrance 2 is closer...super market is available at 3 km..Apartment is having a restaurant and it is nearby(1km from the property and it is in the main road from the lake)
All check in and out had to done at their restaurant...it offers good food and welcome drink..Owner (Dejan) is an excellent person..A Special mention to all staff members especially cheerful Annamaria who went out of her way to make our stay comfortable..
Will definitely stay there in the future...
