Nice place, very close to Leutascher Geisterklamm and Mittenwald.
Excellent view, convenient parking. Large room (for family with 2 children).
Note - room was on second floor with no elevator, but it was still fine and close to the parking.

We had the best apartment which had a large balcony and wonderful views. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast and food available 1200 - 2100 daily. Very good menu with plenty of choice. Great location in a quiet and scenic valley. Plenty of shops and restaurants in Seefeld, a 20 minute drive away.

This is an authentic Austrian guesthouse with so much character and charm. We loved everything about it!! The staff were wonderful and even accommodated my brothers gluten free dietary requirements. Don’t hesitate to book this amazing place surrounded by the Alpes and meadows covered in wildflowers. It’s only a short drive to Mittenwald . We had half board and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and excellent dinner. I give it 10/10

Very pet friendly hotel, with bar & restaurant on the ground floor. No issues with dogs in the restaurant. Room was clean & comfortable with balcony & view of mountains. Dinner was good & plentiful & waitress was very attentive, surprising as on her own. Simple, but adequate breakfast buffet. Worth visiting the gorge, the entry to which is 5 minutes walk away. The loop takes about an hour.

A good choice in a scenic location

Used this as a base to do excursions around the area. Comfy beds and decent bathrooms. Provides breakfast but we didn’t have. Own vehicle is a must as buses are infrequent. Lots of hikes nearby.

Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, wir hatten Halbpension gebucht, man konnte aus einer kleinen Karte drei Gänge auswählen, das Essen war sehr lecker. Auch beim Frühstücksbuffet gab es von allem etwas (Croissonts, Brot, Weckerl, Müsli, Ei, Obst, Käse, Wurst etc.) Unser Apartment war sehr groß (inkl. großer Balkon) und hatte auch eine kleine Küchennische dabei, dort wurden sogar Tee und Kaffee bereitgestellt. Uns hat besonders die ruhige Lage und die Natur rundherum gefallen.

Look no more!!! Stay here! You will love every minute of your stay. We stayed for 3 nights. We slept so well and it was so nice and quiet and comfortable. The duvet covers were so great and everything was so clean. The view is amazing! The breakfast was perfection! We are already dreaming of coming back!

Definitely happy with our stay here. Amazing view, great location for trails, and a quiet nights rest, plus it’s close to two popular cities. Has everything you need nearby. The sauna was an added benefit, what a cute setup! We enjoyed it twice during our 6 day stay and it was an amazing way to unwind. The breakfast has everything you need and left us feeling full most days until dinner.
The only downside is the walls seem pretty thin and so it can be noisy if there are other noisy guests. There’s also no blackout curtains so expect to be woken up with the rising sun!
Big thanks to Andi for his hospitality. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Amazing !

Almost in the middle of nowhere , and we were completely okay with that 😍. It’s a great place to get away and doing some adventuring outside !! We would’ve done more if we brought proper shoes😂 . The owners were so nice and had a drink with them upon checkin. The husband also told us about the food house next door and it did not disappoint . Overall a great location to do some hiking and eat good food. How many people can say they ate dinner in an old 1600 customs house ?!
And the views you wake up to in the morning...priceless .

Everything was fine except it pretty far from city. They don’t supply dinner. You may either have dinner in the city before arriving, about 10 miles away, or eat next door restaurant. Quite and pretty country environment we like.

Love love love

This hotel was wonderful. Mari and Marco made you feel totally at home. Location was close to Mittenwald in Germany as well as other towns in Austria. The Geisterklamm (ghost gorge) was a short walk down the road and a definite must do. The walking /cross country ski paths provided amazing scenery. Emil was the perfect host at the restaurant next door (Gasthaus Klammgeist Alte Zollhaus) and the food wonderful. We loved this hotel so much we stayed one more night than planned!!

Nice pension in secluded valley. Mittenwald can be reached driving 3 kilometers trough Forest on a narrow Road. Good and tasty Breakfest, fantastic Restaurant next door. Very nice Finnish host. No Elevators which makes es hard for people with walking disabilities to managed narrow stairs.. Help with luggage was provided by the Lady of the house. Linen's and towls are changed on request.Perfect place for people who love outdoor recreation.

They couldn't find our booking when we got there and if it wasn't for the confirmation email, they were going to send us away. Afterwards we were taken to our room and were not shown or told of any of the ameneties. The bed was very uncomfortable. Slept less than two hours. At check out, we were given a form to fill and then left alone without knowing what to do with it. The owner was sitting on the next room with her back towards us and never once acknowleged our presence or apologize for the confusion the night before.

Wonderful hosts and amazing views!

Great place to stay. We stayed one night and arrived late, the host stayed awake to greet us and get us settled in. Breakfast was filling with a lot to offer for choices. We have been to Germany and Austria before and this was by far one of our favorite places we’ve stayed. They had parking for our car and our room had a beautiful Mountain View, just wish we hadn’t more time to stay!

Wonderful staff, great place!

The staff at Barenwirt were incredibly kind and helpful. As a solo traveller I very much appreciated their willingness to help me plan my itinerary, and find the best way to get around (I also did not have a car, but they assisted me with the bus system and local walking trails so I could access what I wanted to). Additionally, their friendly attitudes were appreciated!

Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of breads, jams, meats, cheeses, fruit, fruit juices, tea, coffee, fruit, etc.

I liked the location as this place is out of town, so it was a nice break from the busyness of a city. However, it was about a 3 km walk into town and the bus to town only runs by the hotel every couple of hours, so without a car I ended up doing quite a bit of walking. This was all right as there is a nature trail that connects the hotel to Mittenwald so that was a scenic walk. However, by the end of my 4 day stay it was getting to be a bit of a tiresome walk. A personal car or hiring a taxi into town (about 10-15 Euros each direction) would make the trip easier.

The hotel was very clean and had a classic atmosphere of the area. I loved all the woodwork in the rooms, and I enjoyed waking up and looking out to see the mountains.

Ensure you have a way to make phone calls upon checking in. Sometimes staff leaves the desk, but they always leave a phone number to call and can assist you to check in over the phone.

This is truly one of the best lodging experiences I have ever had. I was with my family and all of us agreed we wish we could have just stayed there longer. The first level of excellence is the staff. To say they were friendly just isn't enough. The ladies are from Finland and now I have a desire to go to Finland. They conversed with us like old friends. It was an absolute joy having breakfast there and getting to know them. The breakfast is truly exceptional. The view from just standing outside the hotel is truly amazing! The alps right in front of you.

Quiet, friendly countryside atmosphere

We had stayed at 7 different lodges/hotels while in Europe and this was our favorite. The couple that owns it was very friendly and helpful re: local things to do and how to get there. Room was quite spacious with plenty of storage and very clean. Bathroom was updated and inc. toiletries and a hair dryer. The location is up a winding narrow road so it's best to arrive in daylight if you're not familiar with it. There is an excellent restaurant next door that is run by a chef.

This is a place you should visit.

When we arrived we were greeted with smiles. The owner of the hotel run and live right on site. We were loooking for a place to relax for a couple of days on our travels through Europe. The staff said yes you can relax or you can experience what is around you. They told us of the Europes highest suspended walking bridge between two castles about one hour drive and a cliff hanging trail walk five minutes from the hotel. We did both We are very thankful of the staff taking the time to let us know or we would have missed out. The hotel, food and drinks were outstanding. I would recommend anyone traveling in the area of this hotel. Stay at this one you won't be disappointed.

Me and my friend recently stayed in the hotel and due to low season we were the only ones in the hotel! Nevertheless, the hotel was amazingly cosy, our room was spotless, the staff were very wonderful! They accommodated our needs and requests! Best part of the hotel was the location which was situated away from civilisation! Just what we needed! Although the nearest town was around 30 minutes away (Mittenwald) we couldnt be anymore happier with the amount of landscapes and nature around us! Fully recommend this hotel! The staff were fantastic!

Hidden Gem in the Alps.

THis family run hotel was such a treat. When we walked in the door they greeted us by name and told us all about what was in the area. The place was beautiful with so much character. Our room was so cozy with a private balcony overlooking the mountains and old ruins from the gate which people use to pass though to cross over into Austria. We loved all the history surrounding us. It is attached to a restaurant with wonderful food, and they get busy so get there early on the weekends. The wifi was good enough, I was able to facetime back in the states with a little delay, but was able to browse the internet with no problem. THe breakfast buffet in the morning was nice with lots of bread choices, deli meats, jams, yogurts, fruit, hard boiled eggs, granola, juices etc. I can not express enough how friendly the staff is. It has a family feel to it and everyone is always smiling and greeting you. We felt like part of the family when we left. I would stay here again and would recommend 100% to anyone staying in this area.

At the base of the mountain with stunning views

A great base to explore the surrounding alpine region. The host was wonderful, even though she wasn't there when we arrived, she communicated well with us, and even upgraded us upon check -in! This was a pleasant surprise. A comfortable one- night's stay as we engaged in our road trip through Austria and Lower Bavaria.

Great bargain in a quiet country location

Great little bed and breakfast inn in Austria, but just across the border from Mittenwald, Germany. We made the round trip hike from the Barenwirt through the Leutasch gorge into Mittenwald for lunch. It was a fairly easy hike, with only a short but strenuous hill climb on the return trip from Mittenwald. Overall, one of our best experiences during our 2 week trip to Bavaria and the Austrian alps. The inn itself was clean and our room (1 BR apartment) was spacious, with a large balcony giving wonderful views of the Leutasch valley and surrounding mountains. The included breakfast was entirely satisfactory. This place was a real bargain compared to the other hotels in which we stayed during our trip -- some costing twice as much for much smaller rooms!

Waren nur für eine Übernachtung dort.
Zimmer war Sauber und Schön. Parkplätze direkt am Haus. Zum Frühstück kann ich nichts sagen da wir keines gebucht hatten. Personal war nett und freundlich. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt war , dass man niemanden per Telefon oder E-Mail erreichen konnte.
War immer nur die Ansage zu hören aber keiner ging dran oder hat sich zurück gemeldet.

Was aber leider gar nicht geht, ist Heizung abschalten, obwohl es draußen nicht mal mehr 10 Grad hatte. War zwar Ende Mai, aber trotzdem kalt. Im Zimmer gerade mal 15 Grad. Auch im Bad. Absolutees No-Go.

Sehr abseits vom Touri-Rummel. Ruhig ,erholsam, Balsam für die Seele. Personal sehr zuvorkommend, persönliche Wünsche z.B. beim Essen werden erfüllt.

Sehr freundliches Personal - der Wirt bedient persönlich und individuell. Ruhige Lage in unmittelbarer Nähe zu Mittenwald und der beeindruckenden Leutaschklamm. Wunderbare Wanderwege direkt vom Hotel aus. Die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet und teilweise vom Wirt persönlich in Handarbeit gefertigt (Schreinermeisterarbeit).
