The outside of this motel did not represent the inside. When I arrived I thought I had made a mistake booking. The room was very nice and clean. Everything in the room was new. I will book here again when I come back. I would like to see the outside cleaned up. I think it would definitely help with business for people driving through looking for a place to stay. My overall experience was good though. Nice attraction either way you go. And the mountains are absolutely beautiful!

I had a long drive from Nashville and didn’t get there until 12:30am. The guy at the front desk was so nice and even gave me some tums for my heartburn lol. The room was clean and the bed was so comfy! I will definitely be staying again on my next trip!!

Standing water in floor (we cleaned up), broken ac, headboard fell off wall, other bed frame broke, toilet wobbled, key cards stopped working several times, didn’t bring clean towels or provide enough towels for 3. Didn’t offer a discount or different room until 10:30 the night the night we were leaving. She said “my manager said if you leave now we will refund your money and you can go to Boone”. I told her it was too late and shut the door. No continental breakfast or even a place for a continental breakfast so that is just a straight up lie. The lobby has strong potpourri that the desk clerk referred to as the stank lol. My mom and another lady were struggling to breathe. It was extremely loud at night and there were shady cars in and out that didn’t need to be there. The room has been renovated and is lovely however it fell apart quickly.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which I truly appreciated. The lobby was clean and welcoming, but the experience changed once I entered the hallway to the rooms—there was an unpleasant odor, and the condition of the ceiling, floors, and walls left a lot to be desired. In my room, the curtain didn’t fully cover the bottom portion of the window, which raised privacy concerns, since the room was on the ground level. Although the room almost matched the hallway and the toilet didn't like to flush, the room was clean.

What an interesting experience.....

It was strange. It was hard to get my hotel reservation because they had issues logging in. After that, they gave me 2 keys that didn't work. They couldn't program the keys, so the clerk had to use a master key to let us in our room a couple times. There were odd people walking around who turned out to be workers and staff, one was walking around with a beer in his hand.
The room was recently remodeled and they're remodeling others with all of the building materials piled in the lobby.
The next morning, two of us sat in the lobby while the other slept in. The .morning clerk wouldn't let us use the remote to change the lobby TV because her boss \"is due in, and she likes to watch the news\". Eventually she showed us the guide and allowed us to watch another channel.

It was odd. Won't stay there again, even if they're the only hotel in town...

It was relatively clean though.

They state free breakfast but had no kitchen and no breakfast. The room didnt have a coffee pot. We had to go buy one to have coffee. They only have it at 5am. Its was snowing and they didnt even have the fireplace going. There was rust on the fixtures in the room, the walls were crumbing off, and the beds and pillows were not comfortable. The only good thing was the few people working there were nice.

This may have been one of the worst stays. There were holes in the curtains, the lobby smelled of smoke, and the atmosphere was overall uninviting. I paid about $110 for the room and thought it was closer to a $49.99 room. It certainly needs to be updated.

Pool was advertised on Expedia, but was covered up, in the middle of Summer. Complimentary Breakfast hasn't been available for over a year.
Both were advertised, but NOT available. Very Musty and Very dated. But the sheets were clean and also the towels. Caulking around the tub was moldy. Tiles in the bathroom was probably the original from when it was built. Staff was very friendly. Owner needs to update all of the rooms and change the ad on Expedia or fix the pool and serve breakfast, not just coffee.

The pictures are very deceiving there is no pool there is no breakfast but you don't find that out to you hat there. It was very dirty no coffee pots in the room rusty fridge dust dirty they have drastictly changed sibe my last stay. Management won't fix anything because he's a small motel he doesnt each to spend the money to make it great. They should have paid me to stay there. I want my money back. They have no tissues in the room you only get 1 hand towel it is starting to get black mold in the shower area.

It is in an easy location to find. While it is on a state hwy, it is out of the way of heavy traffic. It provided all we needed for our stay.
The only 'not so nice' thing was that the counter-top for the sink had a crack in it that ran the entire width of the top. It was located such that when the faucet was on, water could go into the crack and then to the floor.

Stayed here a few times over a year ago. Wow, what a change. Lots of monthly renters, on public assistance and some obviously meth heads. Was warned which side of bldg to park to avoid break ins. Cigarette butts litter the property and strong smell of smoke in entrances. Only one other motel here and is much worse. Staff friendly and helpful.

Night counter employee wants no interaction in conversation period. Came back to ask about a blanket and there was no shower curtian. She stated, we don't have blankets, but she brought out a shower curtain.

I have stayed at this property multiple times before, and the affordability made it ok, even that things weren't great. This time was the last I stayed here. The hotel is in pretty beat up and the rooms aren't in good shape. The room was mostly leaned, but not fully. What pushed me over was waking up at 6AM to my whole room reeking of weed from someone blazing it like crazy in the hallway... My allergies got set off and couldn't sleep anymore. It wasn't that I could smell it (which was not new), but the incoming smell was so strong that I had to start the fan to deal with it.

Got there and my room was not clean, bed not made up, towels on bathroom floor, water and used soap on sink, which suprised the desk person as she stated the room had not been stayed in in 3 days. Then they did not have another room...Ended up driving 30 miles of curvy unknown roads in the dark to find another hotel in Boone, NC which cost $80 more.

Although “No Smoking” signs are posted everywhere, you could still smell old smoke in the hall and room.

Carpet in our room could use a good cleaning and the stains in bathtub are unsightly.

The wifi did not work until they reset the modem an couple of times around 10:00 pm. That was a hassle as we needed to do some work. The pool is an outdoor pool with lots of problems and they have it closed until further notice. The website said they have a free breakfast, they do not have any breakfast at all. The people working the desk are great, very friendly and act like they really like being there.

I stayed here one night because I was in Mountain City for work. Let me start by saying that this was maybe the most quiet hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life. The hotel did have a smoke smell in the lobby that kind of lingered in the room. However, the room itself was exceptionally clean. The entire staff was extremely friendly. They even have a friendly cat named Razz. I do wish their pool had been open though, as it was closed for maintenance. Parking was great.

Mountain City in general is not great. Hope you like Burger King and Hardees. But you’re 20 minutes from Boone and 30 minutes from the Virginia Creeper Trail, so I would honestly recommend this hotel for anyone going to North Carolina or Virginia and looking for a less expensive, extremely quiet stay.

The bed was clean, housekeeping took out the trash daily, the show got nice and hot, and the ac worked well, but the sink had a hole in it and the counter was cracked. Some of the outlets in the room were connected to light switches that didn't make sense and one lamp on the wall couldn't be plugged into an outlet because the wire was too short.

The place and people were nice enough, but it could use a bit of remodeling work.
