Location can’t be beat. Great restaurants and shopping within walking distance and the beach is a short walk away as well. Absolutely make reservations at the Bird on the Roof directly across the street from Daunt’s Albatross, great food and vibes. Daunt’s delivers, comfortable beds, great water pressure, great towels, cleaning crew does a great job. Would definitely return.

This is a great small family owned motel right in town in Montauk. The rooms are all recently renovated with eclectic furniture, high end parachute bed lines, in room microwave & fridge. We stayed in the standard queen, which is on the smaller side but has a small table and chairs, dresser & plenty of space for 2 people. The bathrooms have a large stand up shower & public goods bath products. The pool deck is large (but closed for winter in April). Our favorite part was the courtyard area with Adirondack chairs, fire pits & heated igloos. Walkable to everything in town and to the beach. All the staff were super nice. Head across the street to their restaurant Bird on the Roof.

We came here off season, but the staff were great the the igloos were really a nice experience. Some of the ateas in the hotel felt outdated. But its a small business so understood. Not much to do here during off season times honeatly.

I can’t say enough great things about Daunt’s Albatross. It was like coming to visit friends instead of just staying in a motel room. They made sure I was taken care of even though I was arriving after the front desk closed for the evening. The level of service they offer should cost a lot more than it does. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. And the location couldn’t be better! One block of the main drag and a block from the beach! I can’t wait to come back and stay longer!

We stayed in the Koda suite it was beautiful. Full kitchen only thing it didn't have was a coffee maker. Loved that it had a fireplace and 2 outdoor heated igloos. Staff couldn't have been nicer 😊Would definitely stay again.

End of summer overnight retreat
A bit overpriced for a motel as to be expected in the summer in Montauk. The room was adequate but the floor was stone that felt like you were walking out on the sidewalk. Could have used a few area rugs under your feet. They did give us some cash cards to use in the restaurant across the street which was actually very good. My husband had a beer and a snack which was totally paid for and we had a nice breakfast which we only paid half price for. I would stay there again but probably in the off season when the prices drop since we live on Long Island.

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Newly renovated, great location and the firepits in the courtyard are awesome. The bathroom was HUGE (and probably could've used the space a little better) and the bed super comfortable. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

Excellent stay, would definitely book again. The fire pit was such a nice touch in the evenings and they have you s’more packs every night so you could sit around and make s’mores which was so cute. It was cute and trendy and incredibly close to both the beach and downtown so just a perfect location. They also gave a $20 gift card to the restaurant across the street at check in, which basically covers one entree but was an unexpected touch. Especially since they don’t offer breakfast to provide a voucher for a breakfast was smart!

The \"maintenance guy\" came in at 12am un announced. Just opened the door and walked in. I had to chase him out as he was not in uniform and smelled like alcohol and pot smoke. Needless to say it was a sleepless night after that. Called the front desk to verify this guy was actually maintenance, no answer and no way to leave a message. Called back the next day several times. Same, no answer. This place is bad news.

Let's get the negatives out of the way first. The in-room furniture is basically the same stuff I might have bought in a low-end thrift shop when I was in college 50 years ago and used it non-stop since. The bathroom is tiny and the towels, well they might have been new when the furniture was new and are clearly intended for a very small person.
Now to the positives. The Albatross is just a short walk from the ocean and an equally short walk from downtown Montauk (such as it is). If you're averse to sand and waves, there's a pool. The bed was surprisingly comfortable given the furniture, and the shower terrific. If you're planning a longer stay (we were there for just one night) and didn't want to eat out every night, they've got gas grills and picnic tables in the courtyard.
If you're not looking for lux and are packing your own towels, you'll not find a better place to stay in Montauk.

Location was great, walking distance to beach, to the restaurants. Also had a very nice courtyard, and a pool. The price was also the only reasonable price in the area. The staff was also very nice.
However, the room had some issues. The walls were paper thin, you can here everything going on in both rooms next to mine. One night, tv was so loud in the room next door, couldn't get to sleep at all. Other night, some people came back around 1am and was able to hear everywhere word they were saying.
The bathroom had issues. The toilet was leaking, pudding . We notified hotel staff, however no action was taken. We had to use hotel towels to mop and keep the leak controlled. The bathroom desperately needed some anti mold solution, there was mold growing around the door frame, a simple bleaching and scrubbing would have worked here.

Made reservation online,, when we arrived we were given a room right next to aloud annoying laundry inspire of the property being 1/2 empty. Clerk was very flexible and moved us immediately. Tiny dingy no lights in showers overall ascetics rundown look my wife and I have stayed in other motels we come to Montauk 4-5 a year Albatross has been a huge disappointment in comparison ,

Great affordable, family-owned motel
This is the second time I've stayed at Daunt's and it's a great budget motel with the best location directly across from the beach and a minute from \"downtown.\" If you stay on the ground floor, note that you'll hear folks walking around on the pebble gravel but overall this is a great spot to land if you just want to sleep for a few hours and spend the rest of your visit on the sand and in town.
