The history is what truly sets Culloden House apart. The rooms themselves are visually luxurious, staying here feels like stepping back into the 17th and 18th centuries. Knowing who once walked these halls, the conversations that must have taken place, and the pivotal moments tied to this house adds a sense of magic you simply can’t replicate in a modern hotel.

High tea was absolutely lovely, a true highlight, and breakfast was delicious, thoughtfully prepared and enjoyed in a setting that feels timeless. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, perfect for wandering and taking in the atmosphere of the Highlands.

Culloden House isn’t about flashy décor; it’s about soul, history, and impeccable service. If you appreciate character, storytelling, and being immersed in a place with deep historical significance, this hotel is truly special.

This was an unexpected gem. If you are looking for a unique and memorable place to stay, this is it. As a guest, you have access to the walled garden from the 1783s. The house is historic with rooms that take you back to another time in history but updated for modern convenience. The staff was very attentive and made us feel special. We would highly recommend.

Delightful hotel with incredible history!

We enjoyed the most amazing time at Culloden House Hotel. The staff were the best, Kyle entertained us and kept us laughing every time we saw him. What a gem to have a staff member like him! The rest of the staff were equally friendly, helpful and excellent at all they did. We'd book here again for sure!

Beautiful manor house surrounded by acres of land and rich history. The service was amazing from check-in to checkout. Our room was beautifully appointed and decorated. Dinner was delicious at the hotel’s restaurant. My favorite part though were the Highland cows in a field behind the house. An absolute must stay!

The door attendant has been there 20 years. I think that says a lot about the hotel and the people that run it. Would definitely stay there again!!!

Culloden House is an outstanding hotel. The period Georgian manor is breathtaking with an impressive great lawn. The inside of the hotel is what you expect of traditional, historic charm and beauty. It is also clean and immaculate. We were served a wonderful breakfast and enjoyed fine dining in the evenings. The staff is outstanding which very much enhanced our stay. We didn’t want to leave. Special shout out to George for his professionalism and friendly demeanor. We would return to Culloden House in a heartbeat.

This is an historic building on a site that stretches back to the Battle of Culloden, and was once host to Bonnie Prince Charlie himself. Beautiful walled garden amazingly tended by only one gardner! The staff is especially helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is a gem -older but well maintained with a fascinating history. The walled gardens provided a lovely respite in the afternoons. Breakfasts were well prepared and served. Culloden House in and of itself is endearing, as well as comfortable. The house is beautiful and steeped in some dramatic and even dark history at certain points, and there is much to glean from its storied past. The only element that surpasses the house itself are those who keep it running. They’re exceptional, thoughtful and warm, as well as helpful. I would say unequivocally that if you’re traveling around Inverness, it would be a shame not to stay here.

I've been in more hotel rooms than the Gideon Bible. Take it from a guy who has traveled more than 4 million miles reporting for NBC News,
the Culloden hotel in Inverness, Scotland, is one of the best. Not just for the obvious reasons. For Kyle who carried gear up four floors. For Rebecca who hand wrote recommendations from her childhood memories. For Steve who found transportation others could not. Those are only a few names I remember.
If you find a hotel that feels like home, stay there.

The property, rooms, dining, staff were all very nice. The only derogatory observation was the condition of some items. It was a very hot week, the room did not have AC and the windows would not open all the way, would not stay open, there were no window screens. there was a very small portable fan to help at night. Because it's seldom hot in Scotland we would stay here again.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable except it was so hot in the rooms and hallways. We opened out windows and turned off the furnace but it never cooled down. At checkin the lady seemed a little bothered to have to deal with us. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff all morning was great.

Great Staff at The Culloden House Hotel

I had a short but great stay at the Culloden. The staff were very good, friendly, helpful and professional. My room was comfortable and the en-suite was sparkling. I watched with interest how the staff dealt with some demanding and challenging guests and was impressed with their patience, understanding and once again professionalism. I was on business but will return without doubt for a more indulgent experience.

Garden is stunning, front of property is beautiful (especially in summer) and they offer free parking and complementary breakfast.
I’ve heard the tea is very good (didn’t have it myself) and Kyle, the host, is wonderful.

That being said, the property is overpriced and well past its prime. It looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 1980’s or 1990’s. They have old, discolored telephones and alarm clocks in the rooms and strange clothing presses that look ancient. Surely no one uses these and they can be removed so the impression when you walk into the room isn’t “Oh wow…everything is old; and not in a quaint historical way.”
Very pricy just to say you’ve stayed there, although the grounds and service are nice.

Culloden House provided an exceptional Highland Experience. The ambiance was incredible. Customer care was warm and friendly, and they made you feel like you owned the manor! The food was amazing at any meal of the day. There is a Magical Secret Garden and if you are into the Spirit World, don't forget to ask Kyle for a Ghost Tour!
Our only wish it to be able to return one day........THANK You for the highlight of our Scotland trip, Culloden House!

By far my favorite stay during my 11 days in Scotland. This hotel is exactly as advertised on their website. It is a luxury experience without any of the stuffiness. The building, grounds, and rooms are all beautiful. They have their own private garden and some highland cows to meet just a few minutes walk away. The staff were above and beyond helpful and nice. I spent a really lovely evening next to the fire in the lounge, drinking a glass of wine, and chatting with one member of the staff and a couple from Eastern Scotland. I only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was tasty and I am sure the dinner is even more delicious. I can't recommend this place enough!

As close to perfect as you can get. Starts with the magnificent house you see upon driving up. Then the very easy check in process. Next to very spacious rooms with the most comfortable beds we have enjoyed in ages. Wonderful grounds, including a walled garden, to meander around. Fantastic breakfast with many breakfast starters as well as mains (I recommend trying the smoked haddock). The best part, though, was the staff. Incredibly helpful and friendly. Just when you are sad to see one go off shift, the next is equally incredible.

What a special place! I stayed 2 nights at Culloden House, and look forward to going back again one day. The history of this estate and its region is so interesting, and they’ve managed to provide all of the modern conveniences of a hotel experience with the grace and character of another time.

I had both breakfast and dinner in the dining room during my stay, and was quite surprised and pleased at how good the food was - fresh, delicious, better than many of the new, trendy restaurants I’ve eaten at.

And the service! They take service very seriously there and it shows. I miss them already. Highly recommend this place.

This is a very special place. It’s been having a hard time. It’s got historical significance to Scottish immigrants due to the association with The last battle between the Scottish and the English; War 1746 fought in Culloden Battlefield. It’s sad but it may not persist as it is I fear. I hope to travel there again.

Beautiful historic Scottish country mansion with the most amazing grounds and driveway... the pictures on the website don’t do justice to the wow factor. We had a very relaxing 2-day stay with great service from friendly and professional staff. Don’t forget your collared shirt for dinner... then again, it’s nice to get dressed up for dinner.
