Room was very nice, spacious, very clean, beautiful view of the Fuji Mountain. The staff are very kind and extremely attentive. The room was well lit and very easy to control the lights from either side of the beds. Loved the heated floors, the heated blanket table located on the patio. Amenities included with the room are tea, coffee, water, a 5 step facial cleansing routine in the form of dispensable bottles rather than single use bottle. As for the food breakfast (in room) was good, nothing amazing but still good. Dinner (at the restaurant), I felt very sick after eating it, not sure it was worth my money. Resulted in many trips to the bathroom afterward. Overall you pay for the view and great hospitality, (dinner) food is probably not worth your money, there are other options close to town in Oishi but all require some kind of vehicle to get to.

The experience of our stay was AMAZING it is the high light of our trip to japan recommend staying there. the resort is modern and luxurious. the staff are kind and welcoming the service and hospitality was exceptional . room (lodge) size is big with view of mount fuji. the facilities areas (cloud area) is lovely and cozy with bonfire and indoor fireplace we enjoyed hanging out there. the resort offered various activities that i recommend booking in advance (pizza making, hiking, canoe, electric bike and other activities) we also booked breakfast box that is in room breakfast recommend booking it in advance. and we had dinner in there restaurant (La carte) which was lovely. we will stay again for our next japan trip.

Amazing view from the cabin.
Service is excellent throughout from check in to check out. Attention to details is great; they remember our room number and daily reservation.
Cabin size is on the small side but understandable due to the “glamping” experience it tries to emulate.
Speaking of experience, the sweet treats and bonfire night are great. We wished we could have joined more activities.

Cons:
Food options are a bit limited. For breakfast, you only have two options. So if you’re staying for longer than two days, you would have to repeat your choices. À la cart dinner has more options. Having said that, however, the food here is great too.

The best thing is the spectacular view of Mount Fuji from the room balcony complete with a small fireplace. Staff Service is excellent. Glamping activities provided some complementary some with fees. There is no breakfast included for my stay. But the breakfasts and dinners we had were very good. Can be pricey but safe the hassle of looking for food. To really enjoy the stay I would suggest signing up for some of the activities provided. Property is tucked away on the hill. If you plan to move around. Rent a car. But the property is already a great place to chill away from the crowds.

We drove to Hoshinoya Fuji, as it was dark, the entry towards the check-in area is very easy to missed, suggest to have more road sign leading towards the resort.

Once we checked in, there is a car to pick us up to our room up the mountain. The view of Fuji is stunning, if you are lucky enough to see it. Room and breakfast service are great, and so are the amenities in the resort.

Booking for activities got to be done by 6pm the day before (no exception can be made). Was really interested in the morning kayak, however they need at least a minimum of 2 guests to be able to join which is a pity, as i was travelling with elderly, none of them wanted to do it. Suggest the hotel could instead help to match up the guest joining the activitiy, so more people that do not come in a pair can join as well.

Overall a great once in the lifetime experience. cannot really beat waking up at 5am with Mount Fuji right in front of it. Stunning!

This place was incredible and the staff were very attentive, it was literally a dream. The only things I would advise are the activities they mention for free are not all happening. The coffee discovery and a few others never occurred. The sweet time is just smores they leave out 24/7. There is actually no bar area. The fragrance session had only one to choose from and it didn’t have a smell. They advertise 3 etc. The food if you order there is extremely expensive for such a limited amount. It seems like they are cutting corners with their offerings, though that’s why I chose the resort. A bit disappointed. What you are paying for is the view and the incredible staff.

Very unique and upscale rooms that are minimalist but adequate. The view was the main attraction and we were not disappointed. A pleasant surprise was the outdoor fireplace that the staff lighted every evening on the comfy balcony. The rooms were quiet and the staff was friendly and helpful. One downside was the strict process they used handled the meal reservations. When we checked in most of the dining times were already reserved and we had to eat later than we desired. When we went into the dining room there were very few tables being used so a bit disappointing- also the breakfast didn’t begin early enough so we were unable to eat our first morning, however we did make it to breakfast the second day and it was delicious! They need more dining times to accommodate all guests since there really aren’t other easily accessible restaurants nearby. The bar area was also a problem since it didn’t open until 7pm, and it was quite dark sitting outside. Finally there are a lot of steps to get from your room to reception, dining and the bar and they need to be better lit. People also need to be in relatively good shape to make the hike up and down. We did have a wonderful stay, but a few tweaks would make it even better!

This place is absolutely stunning! We felt in complete bliss from the moment we arrived snd sad to have left. It was a great relaxing break after Tokyo. The service was incredible, all staff was lovely. The views from the cabins were absolutely STUNNING! We were blessed enough to have clear views of mount Fuji! The attention to detail from the backpacks to the small feeebies were lovely. The food delicious!! The WAGU STEAK was cooked to perfection and we also did the pizza makonv experience and it was probably the best pizza we have ever had! We will definately be back

Staffs are friendly. One comment is that when we came back to hotel after 7pm on one occasion the reception was closed and we were given a telephone number to call for transport to fetch us to our room. However, after many calls there were no response. Similar experience when we went out of hotel early at 7am, but when we came back to hotel at 9am and pressed the door phone for transport to our room. Again there was no response from the hotel and we ended up walking our way back to our room. It was tiring as we walked up steep slopes.

A word of caution: the resort is a fair distance away from Kawaguchiko and it was difficult for us to find taxis consistently. So if you plan on staying primarily at the resort it’s not a problem but if you’re a “get out and about” type of traveler be prepared.

Really amazing and restful stay. We stayed for three nights and felt very refreshed after the stay, having experienced the delicious food offered and enjoyable activities (we did the early morning canoeing, aerial stretching and rented a bike to cycle around the lake).

This hotel is not for people squirmish about bugs or those looking for extreme lux. This hotel is for people seeking lush greenery, great views, and taking time to detach and relax.

The staff were amazing! They greeted us and helped us with our luggage as we were taken to our room. We had a clear view of mt Fuji on our first day as the sky was clear. We had the meat shabu for dinner and it was such a vibe and was definitely worth it. Don’t get the red wine broth shabu tho. It’s an acquired taste. We also ate breakfast at the restaurant available. It was a hike but I think you can call the hotel van to take you up there. the restaurant food selection was ok. The pumpkin soup was the only thing that we liked. On our second morning, we ordered the breakfast bread box which had soup, bread, chicken salad and coffee and rlly hit the spot before we had to check out of our rooms.

Hoshinoya Fuji is just so beautiful and serene. We stayed for two nights and had the most comfortable bed we slept in during our long trip to Japan. Service was very quick and gracious, always there to book a cab for us (no uber in this area) or bring us an in-room curry at the last minute. Donald hooked us up with amazing recommendations for hiking Mt Fuji and Aokigahara Forest. The breakfast and dinner prepared by the hotel were plentiful and delicious. The walls in our room were a little dirty seemingly from people’s suitcases rubbing against them but overall the room was absolutely incredible with a stunning view of Mt Fuji, very quiet and comfortable. There were also outdoor backpacks to rent for free that had things like binoculars, cushions, and little fig/granola type bars in them, which was great so that we didn’t have to use our travel backpacks!

Our favorite feature of this hotel was the patio set up with had a table on it flanked by large cushions and lined with a heated blanket that we fell asleep sitting at the first night! It is the size of a bed and just as comfortable/warm, but outside!! We loved it!

The only things we would change are 1) the shower - it’s a handheld in a bathtub that makes it really easy to spray water all over the bathroom if you’re not careful… maybe just add a normal shower head? The pressure and temperature were great though. And 2) an outdoor hot tub! 😆

My favourite stay ever! If you like somewhere quiet, with some tranquility, relaxation and nature, this is perfect. The view of Mt Fuji with the kotatsu under the night sky made this so memorable. However, keep in mind that the location is remote, so is more ideal as a stay within the properties. You can get a taxi in and out, but can be a bit of a hassle.

That same evening, I had the pleasure of sitting and speaking with her during the movie screening. That simple act of connection, of shared conversation and kindness, was a highlight of my stay. Unfortunately the 1 day/2 nights we spent here were rainy days. Our canoe experience was cancelled of course. And after half a days time, we felt very restless and a bit trapped. The compound overall is quite small. We thought we could take a hike in the drizzle but there were not any paths through the trees, as advertised on their map. We walked up and down the compound (a lot of stairs) to find a trail but the trails were either blocked off (due to rain) or non-existent. No trails were clearly marked.

To get in and out of the compound you need to ask the staff to drive you a short distance to a lower parking lot area, where then you would have to call a cab to go \"into town\". Given that we were there for a such a short time and had a scheduled dinner and 1 mid-day activity (the smoking workship), it didn't make sense for us to make the trek out of the compound.

The smoking workshop was not so much of a \"workshop\" but a quick 15 min. demonstration of woodchips, tabletop smoker, with a charcuterie board. It left much to be desired.

The in-room shabu shabu and sukiyaki was delicious and the highlight of our stay. I do wish however, the vegetable pairings were different for the two meals but I understand that it's local ingredients. Eating on the balcony under the heated blanket was also the most unique experience of Hoshinoya.

We also never got to see Mt. Fuji due to the weather.

Despite it being cloudy and rainy during our entire stay and not being able to actually see Mt. Fuji, we had a fantastic time at Hoshinoya. It's truly a unique experience and worth every penny in my opinion. The facilities were top notch and staff couldn't have been more pleasant. The food, while definitely on the more expensive end, was very well prepared. I hope to come back someday to actually see Mt. Fuji!

We had an amazing night stay at Hoshinoya Fuji during our 2 week trip to Japan!!!
We travelled from Hiroshima - taking the Shinkansen to Tokyo then Chuo Line to Ōtsuki and then the Fujiku Railway to Kawaguchi Station and a taxi to the hotel reception.
We picked a backpack each (containing binoculars, water bottle, pillow, head torch and biscuits) and were driven to our cabin where we were provided with tea and an overview of the hotel services and facilities.
We ordered the “Glamping Curry” for dinner which we ate on our balcony overlooking Fujikawaguchiko, and then the “Morning Box” for breakfast with clear views to Mt Fuji.
We were worried when we arrived that we may not see Fuji because of the cloud cover but by the morning we had a clear unobstructed view (worth waking early!).
The cabins are clean and modern. The staff were lovely and accommodating.
There were a great number of complimentary activities (such as water colour painting and afternoon sweets) and others which were additional charges if
you were so inclined (such as pizza making and canoeing).
Lots of stairs but don’t let that deter you.
Overall a memorable experience which was worth the extra $$$ for a night of luxury overlooking Mt Fuji.

Lives up to the hype

This hotel really is a one in a lifetime, special place to stay. Absolutely gorgeous views. I read some prior reviews mentioning the food was expensive and not very good. It’s true the food is expensive, but it’s absolutely top notch and worth every penny. I had the best steak I’ve ever had! Make sure you dine in the restaurant. Other than, make the most of your money by enjoying the amazing views from your room day and night.

It was a pleasant stay at Hoshinoya Fuji! The room is spacious, clean and up to my expectation. The view from room is spectacular and cannot be found elsewhere. It definitely worth the price just sitting at the balcony for the whole day. The meals are superb! The whole dining experience, especially the inroom balcony breakfast is definitely worth-trying.

Nevertheless, I am a bit disappointed on the choices of activities and accessories. Upon our arrival, which is only around 3:30pm, we are already told the choices of our bag packs are not avaiable. We also try to book in advance, say a few months before, but almost all activities are either full or out of choices. For the complimentary activities, i wish them to be a little bit longer and more in depth. Take for example, the wood chopping experience, they only let u try once (like in 5 seconds only) and would expect to pass to others. As for the coffee making, you simply pour coffee from the coffee pot (instead of what we expect to at least filter the coffee by ourselves) to your cup and that's the end of experience.

After all, the staff are helpful and the whole experience is memorable. I will recommend my friends heading there :)

Wonderful Birthday Glamping at Hoshinoya Fuji

I've spent 3 amazing days at Hoshinoya Fuji for my birthday. The time spent is amazingly peaceful and beautiful. The staff are very polite and helpful, always making sure we understand how to spend our time there.
First check in, staff took our details to confirm our booking. This is also where u get to choose the backpack you want. then we are brought up in the super cool red jeep to the 2nd reception area where a staff will explain everything from room to food and activities you can enjoy. This is also where you decide on your meals and make the bookings for any activities you want to take part during your stay. Once all these are done, you will find your way to your canin and start your adventure in the resort. Lots of walking and climbing of stairs.
The room and the view is AMAZING! Love everything in the room Especially the balcony. Thats where i spent a lot of time in the afternoon, feeling the chill wind, slipping fruit beer and staring at Mt Fuji. Dining at the balcony is such an pleasant experience and I LOVE all the food. We got to cook our breakfast on the 3rd morning on the deck. I even got a pretty Birthday cake from the resort.
We spent time exploring the grounds of the resort and walked down to the lake to take gorgeous photos of Mt Fuji.
Overall, the stay is Fantastic and i promise myself i will go back again in the near future. If you are considering, just go ahead and book your night, you will not regret it.

This place is magical. The views of Mt. Fuji are fantastic and the hotel goes above and beyond to make the stay comfortable. They provide backpacks, happy hour, snacks, coats, rain boots, and anything else you could need to have a great time. The only thing that isn't great is the food in the restaurant was just OK. If you've got the time stay here.

It is nice hotel surrounded by the mountains. Food is bit difficult as we only had very few options. And basically it was hard to go down to the town centre. It would be better if the staff could speak more English as reception is far away! Overall, it was very memorable expernces!

I was in room 303 and it was perfect.

My bed was comfortable and linens were great and the room was clean.
No TV but the modern conveniences were fab.
Speakers throughout the room for music etc.
My terrace had a fire and direct view of MT Fuji - it was spectacular
the whole experience was easy and fun
I got breakfast in bed. It was wonderful, so much food and you got to eat it on teh terrace overlooking Mt Fuji - it was amazing.
If you book through hotels.com - you do have to email them and get reservations etc. They have tons of activities and meal options. look on their web site and review and email them.
Take the bus from Tokyo station then a cab from the train station - super easy.

Wonderful honeymoon stay in the nature

We stayed at hoshinoya Fuji for two nights as a finale to our honeymoon trip in japan. The hotel site was beautiful and carefully designed to capture the view of mt Fuji and bland into nature. We were in a king bedroom which offered an amazing mt Fuji view from both the room, balcony and bathroom.
We took full advantage of the view by ordering in room meals such as the curry dinner and box breakfast (curry was a little small but box breakfast was great). We also reserved the Dutch oven dinner at the outdoor forest kitchen- it was really fun, our cook master helped and guided us through cooking local wild boar and deer meats in Japanese style and introduced us to a few interesting Japanese wine (local Chardonnay, Merlot etc) He was very friendly and even surprised us with a little mt Fuji cake for our honeymoon celebration.

There were a lot of complimentary snack/wine/activities hour at the hotel and it was easy to walk around the adjacent area to visit the beautiful lake, maple corridor and museums. The hotel staff was extremely professional and gave us a lot of recommendations of where to go.

It was a really calm and wonderful stay in the nature. We were extremely well taken care of and had a really fond memory. We can’t wait to stay with them again and check out other hoshinoya locations.
