My family and I had a WONDERFUL stay at Yettle Hanok. Jung and his wife were lovely hosts who welcomed us, showed us a map so we could get our bearings and even offered suggested activities for the day so that we would be able to experience all the sights and experiences. We rented the entire home and found it be spacious, comfortable and clean. It was such a unique experience to stay in a traditional hanok-style home. The home is walking distance to the Gyeongju National Museum and a bus stop with buses that will take you right into town. My family loved every minute of our stay and are so grateful for the hospitality and warmth of our hosts!

We had a pleasant stay at this property.
It was tidy and comfortable.
The bathroom for our room was outside, which we didn't mind at all but may not be okay for everyone.

Pros:
- Korean style house, lovely wooden details
- Great location, close to lots of attractions and bus stop. Busses are frequent.
-comfortable bed.
-The owner was friendly and chatty (find more information below). Gave us a map of Gyeongju and arrival and idea on what to do
-lovely breakfast provided one of the days
- fridge/freezer, kettle, tea, coffee provided
-cute tea room

Cons:
- no restaurants near by, cafe next door open for very limited hours so take some snacks
- lack of privacy and lots of rules to follow. Owner overbearing at times. Will do things like readjust where your shoes are, expects room door to be open during the day for air circulation, made us rush out on the day of check out So he can start cleaning (we were out by 8:15)!! I felt like I was intruding in his home but it's was great experience otherwise.

The owner was so friendly and helpful! The bed was very comfortable. The location was great—so close to the historic center—walkable to the beautiful park, Wolji and bridge, all of these are awesome to see at night. Just walk, don’t take a taxi tour.

We enjoyed our stay at the Yettle Hanok. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He communicated with us prior to our visit on how to get there, which was extremely helpful. Upon arrival he provided us with a map and overview of Gyeongju. The hanok is conveniently located across the street from the museum and is easy walking to the village. There is a bus stop close by with buses that can take you to main historical sites around Gyeongju. Our host brought us a nice little breakfast with coffee to our room each morning, and he arranged taxi pick up for us when we departed. I recommend staying at this hanok to experience a traditional Korean home during your stay.

So, first of all, this might be a good place for you to stay if you know NOTHING about Korea and you're a foreigner. But everyone else should avoid staying here. I booked this property on Weds for Thurs and was required to fill in my phone. By midday on Thursday I had received over 10 contacts from the property by email and by text. I started to feel very harassed, as perhaps getting one EMAIL about how to find the property is normal. I work full time, I don't need constant distractions. I was asked to inform my exact time of arrival. I informed that I would take a bus at 6:20 or 7:20. I clarified that I would message after I got on the bus. By 5pm I was already receiving more messages about my arrival time. I informed that I would take the 6:20 bus, arriving at 7:35. At 7:30 I got a message if I had arrived. I called and was told that they were waiting for us, even though I specified that we hadn't even eaten dinner yet and clarified that there is no restaurant anywhere nearby the hanok. Feeling very rushed as they said they didn't live there and couldn't leave until we arrived, we bought cup ramen for dinner (the worst) and quickly went to the hanok (nothing for breakfast). When we arrived the owner wanted to sit down and lecture us about hanok or something, rather than show us the room and let us relax and eat our ramen. Also he repeated everything 3-4xs, even though I speak fluent Korean, he said it in broken English (my husband doesn't speak English), too.

Host was wonderful and gave us a map and layout of the town. We had access to a patio and rooftop. Even though breakfast was not included, he gave us bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bread and coffee. I highly recommend staying there for a unique hanok experience.

Incredible Host!

Our stay here was lovely. The owner was kind and incredibly helpful — he gave us a map and directions on the best ways to see all the sights we were interested in. The rooms were spotless and the beds had heating pads, which were so cozy, as we were traveling in the fall and it was getting cool. All around a great stay — highly recommend for anyone looking for a more authentic experience unlike those you get at a regular hotel.

Traditional Hanok Homestay

It is a classic Hanok Style House with 5 bedrooms. 4 of them have connecting bathrooms, whereas the small single person does not. I had to walk out into the courtyard, only about 15 feet away, to use my own bathroom, but it was for my own use and it was clean. It is a beautiful home and the owners, who live nearby are so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable with a good temperature. It was clean and exactly as you’d expect a traditional style of bedroom to be. The mattress is on the floor but it has heating and was pretty thick and comfy. They provided a small but good breakfast in the morning and have a small kitchen with refrigerator for guest convenience as well as a separate tea room. It was an enjoyable stay and I would stay again if I’m ever back in Gyeongju!

The overall stay was pleasant - the property is a traditional hanok house that is more than a 100 years old, run by an enthusiastic host. There aren’t convenience stores around the lodge but there are plenty in Gyeongju city so just buy some drinks and snacks to bring back and eat at the lodge if you want.

There are house rules that applies to all guests for efficient management of the hanok house.

The host generously provides free breakfast (this free breakfast may or may not continue in the future) at 8AM sharp for every guest in the lodge. He knocks fairly loudly on the door - for sensitive sleepers this may be a bit alarming.

The hosts also clean the hanok house every day and ventilates the house for maintenance by leaving the doors of all the guest rooms open. I believe they do this so they can clean up any mess some guests may have left behind which could impact the condition of the old hanok.

This lodge also has a concrete check out time and I don’t think they offer luggage keeping once you check out - but there’s plenty luggage holding facilities in Gyeongju area near the hwanglidangil.

This is a traditional and interesting place to stay - reminiscent to how older korean generations lived in hanok like this. The way of operation is different but if you’re the type of traveller that pop out in the morning to explore the area and return in the evening, you won’t have problems.

The overall experience was good. The owner has set rules, he wakes you up at 8am and provides an unofficial breakfast (boiled egg, bread, yogurt and a coffee) which is very kind of him. You'd need to be up by then as he'll keep knocking on your door - essentially he wants you out so he can clean the place. Bathroom is a wet room, there are only hand towels, no flushing toilet paper (which wasn't an issue). There are a lot of attractions nearby and all walkable - the owner will tell you all about them and give you a map which was helpful. There is also a tea room which was nice and had green tea. You can only lock room doors in the evening otherwise it has to be open. He is very precious about closing the entrance door of the property. Gave it a low rating as our last day he got very aggy with us, with check out being at 10am, the day before he said he'd like us out by 9.50am - not an issue - but on the day he just kept rushing us and wanted us out asap. So we left by 9.30am which runied our experience.

The Hanok is easily walkable to all the historical area sites to see. Host is so bubbly! He gave a good introduction to the area showing us on the map so we could get the most out of our time here. The rooms are gorgeous. Even though breakfast is not included the host prepared a light breakfast for everyone with coffee at ~8am. Perfect to start the day as nothing opens early.

Incredible value for the price. The host is really kind and helpful, the location is great, and the accommodation itself is exactly what you want from a Hanok stay. The beds are extremely comfortable, too. I had trouble sleeping on my trip prior to staying here, and was able to fall asleep almost immediately upon getting comfortable in my room. Highly recommend!

What a lovely house to call home for a few days while staying in beautiful Gyeongju. The owners are incredibly friendly and care a great deal about making sure you have a pleasant stay. The accommodation is simple, but that is to be expected given the unique stay experience. The walls are quite thin, so you must be mindful of your volume early in the morning and late at night. It says that your stay doesn't include breakfast, but every morning we were provided hard boiled eggs, assorted pastries, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. I would definitely recommend this hotel. 10/10.

Owner proceed free breakfast which was kind. But I felt like I was in a military camp: woken and told many times to eat the breakfast. He kept repeating instructions (over five times). We got it the first time. He means well but needs to self regulate better.
Lack of personal private space. Really nearly ruined our stay.

This review is based on the fact that we have not stayed in a Hanok before and therefore can be biased.
Similar to other reviews we appreciated the in depth tips from the very friendly owner re. the area and important/interesting places to visit.
We arrived by car and parking is close by which was explained by the owner so it was easy to find. He explained the place in every detail which was very helpful. The rooms are very clean and typical Hanok style.
Important to note are two facts (which we did not know before)
- the house itself is located close to one of the roads. Therefore traffic can be heard. It really did not disturb or bother us but worth to mention
- the house consists of 4 rooms. 3 of them have own shower and restrooms. One room has shower and bathroom facilities outside. Even though it was basically a minute walk away from the room we found it uncomfortable( especially during the night). It was also not mentioned during the booking and therefore not ideal.
The building overall is tidy and has all facilities but do not expect a typical old style Hanok as you see on the pics posted for the others.
Nevertheless, if you take price value into and the above mentioned points into consideration then it is worth considering for a stay.
On the addtl. positive side though it’s worth to mention that we received free breakfast though.
Would we come back? Not really. Depending on the budget might spend a little more and choose a different one.

Très mauvaise expérience !

Ma femme et moi avons passé un très mauvais séjour dans cette maison d’hôtes à cause du propriétaire qui est particulièrement gênant.

Ce propriétaire est du genre TRÈS envahissant et se fiche ouvertement de votre intimité (ouvre la porte de la chambre sans permission, nous réveille à 8h pour que nous partions le plus tôt possible, pire, surveille nos allers et retours vers la salle de bain en nous demandant pourquoi nous nous douchons ou allons aux toilettes et en faisant des remarques du style « encore? » !!). Au passage cette salle de bain est située dans une cours intérieure avec une installation électrique qui n’apparaît pas aux normes.

Par ailleurs les consignes sur le règlement intérieur (hyper strict) sont données sur un ton professoral et de très nombreuses fois répétées (au moins 5) ce qui est insupportable.

Enfin, il s’est ouvertement moqué de nous lorsque nous lui avons simplement demandé s’il pouvait garder nos valises durant la journée.

Pour info nous sommes de nature très tolérante et c’est la première fois que je rédige un avis de la sorte.

J‘ai exprimé mon mécontentement au propriétaire avant de partir.

Bref je vous déconseille vivement d’y séjourner.

老闆夫妻非常親切，預定客房之後就會仔細地跟訂房的住客聯絡。旅館不僅提供慶州的地圖，老闆很有耐心地跟遊客一起規劃行程。沒有收取早餐的費用，還是仔細準備了精緻的餐點，非常令人感動，是值得推薦的韓屋住宿。

옛뜰에 주변이 너무 조용해서 좋았고요,
동궁과 월지와도 가까워서 밤에 야경 구경하고 걸어오기도 가까워요. 사장님 두분이 친절하셨어요.
한옥특성상 방음이 안되서 같이 간 친구들과 속닥이며
얘기했지만 숙면 취하긴 했네요. 옆방 드라이기 소리에 7시에 눈이 떠질수 밖에 없지만 아침에 주시는 소소한 조식도 잘 먹고 남은 일정 시작했어요. 다음번에 경주 갈 일이있으면 또 한번 묵고싶네요.

분명 화장실도 안에 있고 주차장도 있다고 해서 예약했는데 전혀 기재된 것과 달리 박물관 주차장에 주차하고 걸어와야합니다 먼 거리는 아니지만 그럴거면 주차가능이라고 표시해서는 안된다고 생각합니다 화장실도 마찬가지였고요 주인분들은 친절하다고 여겨지는데 묘하게 기분 나쁜 특히 남자 사장님, 자기 뜻대로 자기 기준대로 조금이라도 뭔가 바뀌어 있으면 예를 들어 자기가 둔 내 방 안 물건 위치가 다르거나 자기가 소개하는대로 안 따라오면.. 저는 다른 사람 방은 별로 구경하고 싶지 않았으나 고압적이고 강압적으로 이끌고 다니시며 상대방 생각 전혀 안하고 지적과 잔소리하셔서 불편했어요 상대적으로 외국인한테는 엄청 친절한거 보고 더 기분 나쁘기도 하고요 전 다시 이용하지는 않으렵니다.

한옥이라 추울줄알았는데 너무 따듯하고 이부자리도 푹신해서 잘 잤습니다. 방음이 안되서 괜히 옆방 분들 자리 불편하셨을까 그게 조금 걱정되네요^^; 한옥 체험할겸 1박 정도 경주오면 추천합니다. 대신 사장님이 tmt라 그거는 조끔 감안하셔야해요 ㅎㅎ

경주에 오면 한옥에 머물고 싶어서 기대감을 안고 예약을 했습니다
사장님께서 내부 구석구석 방 구경을 시켜주시며 친절하게 설명해 주십니다.
방을 들어서면 나무향이 은은하게 나고 아늑한 느낌을 주어, 편한 기분이 들고 침구류나 바닥도 청결해서 좋았습니다
밤에는 웃풍이 들어와서 약간 추운감이 없지 않았지만 매트리스에 전기장판이 있어서 따듯하게 잘 수 있었고 한옥이라 방음이 약한 부분만 감안하면 전반적으로 만족스러운 경험이 었습니다

단지 엄청 조용히 해야 한다는게 그랬지만

아저씨는 잠들었는데 본인은 하얀밤을 꼴딱샜네요;;;

전체적으로 깔끔하고 조용해서 편안하게 이용했습니다! 화장실과 방 사이, 방과 방 사이 방음이 좋지는 않았지만 다른 객실 손님들도 모두 조용하시고 미리 사장님께서 한옥 특성상 방음이 약할 수 있다고 말씀해주셔서 괜찮았어요. 간단한 조식도 준비해주셔서 아침마다 든든했고 안압지까지 걸어서 10분 채 안걸려서 쉬다가 야경보러 가기도 좋았어요

개조된 한옥이고 침대가 있습니다. 침구가 아주 깨끗하고 방도 쾌적했어요. 하지만 방음이 1도 안되고 겨울이라 바닥도 공기도 춥습니다. 딸린 화장실은 방과 공용키친과 연결되어 있는데 잠금장치가 없어요. 불안한 마음이 들더군요. 침대에는 난방기구가 깔려 있어서 따듯합니다. 방과 숙소 전반적인 컨디션 아주 좋아요.예쁘기도 해서 사진찍는 것 좋아하시는 분들은 좋을 것 같습니다. 조용하게 묵고 가기는 괜찮지만 어린 아이들 있거나 친구들끼리의 여행에는 적합하지 않을 것 같아요. 주인내외분도 방음에 대해서 상당한 주의를 주더라고요. 다음엔 그냥 따뜻하고 편안한 미니호텔 가려고요:)

If you visit to Gyongju, this is great place for you.
You can access easily to this guesthouse by taxi. It takes about 10minutes.
Especially, I reccomend Korean learner because this host is so kind and likes to communicate with people. Your language skills will be better!

慶州の伝統的な韓屋で過ごすならここがおすすめです。最寄りの慶州駅からはタクシーまたはバスで10分程度。
人生経験豊富、世界中のさまざまな国に訪れたことのあるご主人と話すのも楽しいですよ～
オンドル完備で夜も暖かくして寝られます！

추가 비용 없이 너무 맛있는 조식도 제공 되었구요! 그리고 제일 좋았던건 이불 빨래를 매일 하시는 거 같더라구요! 뽀송뽀송한 이불에서 잘 수 있어서 얼마나 좋았는지 몰라요! ㅎㅎㅎ 그리고 하나하나 세세하게 한옥을 설명해주시던 호스트님 최고입니다영!

경주를 느끼고 싶다면 여기로!

예전에 혼자 갔던 곳인데 너무 좋아 이번에 커플로 다녀왔어요. 일단 제일 먼저 청결! 이건 5성급 호텔에도 안밀릴 정도로 침구며 전체적인 컨디션이 너무 깨끗해요. 그리고 호스트분들의 친절함도 최고! 태풍이 온 날 방문했는데 호스트분의 추천으로 옆방 손님분들과 같이 동행하며 친하게 지내고 서울에서도 또 만날 정도로 좋은 인연을 맺게되어 더 기쁜 여행이었어요. 국립박물관 맞은편에 있어서 조금 시내와 멀기는 하지만 걷기 먼 거리가 아니고 월지와 가까워 야경 구경하고 들어오기엔 아주 좋아요. 경주에서 제대로 된 한옥스테이를 경험하고 싶으시면 추천해요!

위생과 서비스가 아쉬운 한옥 게스트하우스

위생과 청결이 아주 실망스러웠습니다. 주인분께 청소해주십사 말씀드렸는데 감정적으로 소리를 지르시더라구요. 뭐가 문제냐고 하시면서... 당황스러웠습니다. 욕실은 곰팡이가 눈에 띌 정도였고 다음날에는 청소가 안 되어있더군요. 휴지로 쓱 닦으면 꺼멓게 묻어나올정도로....침대 매트리스에는 모래가 손에 잡히고... 겨우내 쓰는 온열매트도 그대로이고....이 부분도 개선되지 않았습니다. 머무는 동안 심적으로 너무 불편했어요. 외관은 정적이고 동양적인데 실상 내실은 허술했어요. 조식을 주시는데 청소 얘기한 이후는 조식을 저희만 안 주시더라구요.
8시에 제공되는데 한시간 이상 안 주시더라구요. 우리네 정서는 아닌 듯 하구요. 조식은 서비스 개념인 듯 하여 제공하지 않은 듯 합니다. 제가 아침에 차를 마시고 9시 정도 준비하러 방에 들어갈때도 조식제공은 없었습니다. 체크아웃할 때 문 앞에 놓여져 있던데 기척도 없이 두고 가셨네요. 어이가 없었습니다. 취미삼아 게스트 하우스 하신다고 말씀하시던데 정말 그런 듯 하구요. 사업이라 생각하시면 손님을 그리 대하진 않았을겁니다. 여행에서 숙소가 중요하다는걸 새삼 깨달았네요.
