You only get one key. It has to be placed in the slot to get electricity in your room. So when you leave your room and take your key it shuts down your air conditioner and your small refrigerator. You return each time to a hot room and you might as well forget about usinh the refrigerator.

Booked a two night stay at D’Gecko from March 5th-7th. Location of the hotel is great and the staff are friendly, but that’s about everything that is good about this hotel. Bed sheets were stained from overuse and so were the towels. The shower was interesting… either freezing cold or scalding hot. Comes out as a drizzle or as a jet depending on how it’s feeling. Would not recommend staying here unless your other option is a hostel. Oh, I guess another pro is that they have a water cooler in the hallway, so I will give them that.

Property was very close to the beach only a 2-4 min walk from prime snorkeling areas. Restaurants near you, but with enough distance from high trafficed areas and noise from restaurants. Sadly because of the lack of 24 hour front desk staff and no phones to call anyone our experience here was ruined by a guest next door who decided he was going to have party and started playing music at midnight, gambling, slamming doors from midnight until 3:30 am. I had a canyoneering excursion the next day with a meeting time of 6 am, this lack of sleep did not make for a good stay. ( No I did not confront the person making the noise as safety is important to me, especially in a different country)

The property is clean and 'cute', the staff weren't helpful or fiendly though they did allow us to check in an hour and a half early. Also, you are required to remove your shoes when inside. They provide inside slippers but may be better to go barefoot than slip on the stairs with a sub par pair as I quickly learned.

I typically stay in higher end properties, but this is Moalboal- and I wanted to be close to the water in the heart of the action. Deluxe King room is beyond a super value! Staff is sooooo friendly and accommodating. I booked originally for 2 nights- and I have extended it now one night at a time- now here for the 6th night. For the area, there is nothing better and i would definitely recommend it here.

You have to pay for a second pillow if you want one. They were happy to provide a few more hangers for free.

The staff was amazing and very helpful.
The room was clean and the staff did an excellent job of keeping the hallways free of dirty and sand.
The beds are quite firm and you are only supplied with one pillow each, although we never asked for more, I’m sure they would have accommodated.
The AirCon and Wifi were both excellent but the water pressure was sometimes lacking.
Very close to the beach and plenty of restaurants. Saturday night there was a live band at the Pacita's Disco Bar just down the lane way which was loud but put on an excellent show and gave a good nightlife vibe.

The staff arranged 1 excursion for us and it was excellent, although our driver was 25 min late, that was to no fault of the hotel it self.

Would highly recommend staying here.

Avoid this place. I booked a king size bed and got a double. Had zero water!!! Couldn’t even shower. No phones in the room to call the front desk. Bathroom stink of sewage coming up. Bed was hard and only had 1 flat pillow each. Won’t be going back here again.

This humble space has accommodating and warm staff, you will love them. Hot spots like cafes and beaches are just a few minutes away either by walking or renting a motorcycle.

This place is laid back, peaceful, and very chill. But they take cleanliness seriously. You'll know when you get here.

A major disappointment

I do not recommend this hotel. There are a few notable reasons for the negative experience:

1) the shower barely worked so you had to use a bucket
2) you couldn't wear your shoes so you had to use the same slippers everyone else uses for their feet to enter your room (or go barefoot). It was not sanitary. Why not provide new slippers to each paying customer?!
3) worst of all, they seemed to totally forget about the tour we booked with them. We started late for our sea turtle and sardines tour. As a result, we could not see much because the seas became rough and reduced visibility to 4-5 feet. They also didn't communicate that you don't need a permit for snorkeling off the beach where you can see sea turtles and the sardine run. In the end, they just made me overpay to rent a boat to see a medicore island off of Moalboal that provided no value. Very unethical and unhelpful staff.

Do yourself a favor and book at a better hotel. This one does not deserve the positive reviews it has received.

Good place for a short stay in Moalboal

Was a good and convenient place to stay for a short 3 night stay in Moalboal. Right next to the beach and an easy walk from the main strip.

Water pressure and wifi were a bit of a challenge, but we had excellent service particularly from the night-shift receptionist/hotel manager. He was extremely helpful with all of our concerns and so friendly to us.

The rooms are clean and decorated nicely. HOWEVER, it was so loud in the middle of the night with people banging on doors inside the hotel and talking so loudly. This happened every night and we stayed 3 nights. The wifi never worked, not even for one minute. They also made us take off our shoes and leave them at the front desk and walk barefoot, the floors on a couple of occasions were wet, so we had to walk barefoot on wet tile which was dangerous. NOT recommended. Find somewhere else.

D'Gecko is a fine hotel. It is not a resort. The rooms are clean the staff is friendly. The rooms are basic. The safe in our room did not work. The power outlets are connected to a circuit that requires the room key so you can't charge any devices while you're out of the room. It wasn't a bad stay but it wouldn't my first choice if I return to the area.

Chose to stay here for the week vacation with a friend who was taking scuba diving course.

The hotel has very friendly staff and was pleasant to deal with.

The hotel rooms were clean and in good condition except only minor issue was the bathroom where I felt there was some weird odour every time I turned the shower on. Plus it was a little small sized bathroom.

Other than that, the rooms were good size and in nice condition and clean.

Please was clean and served its purpose, but the Bathroom needs a shelve or two and towel hooks. The room we were in on our side of the hotel we were in was next to a bar with loud music until late. Luckily I had earplugs with me. Toilet was not operating properly. There was a bucket in the shower where you could get water to pour in and flush.

The good thing is that the restaurant connected to the hotel named Salamandre is very good top quality food cooked by Belgium chef.

Clean hotel with the most comfortable bed and pillow we had during our whole vacation.
Which really helped my wife since she suffered a bad fall while canyoneering and as a result spent the rest of her time in the bed recovering.
The air conditioner was quiet and worked well.
The restaurant next to the hotel has great food and provided take out. They even delivered to our room for my wife one night.
Cleaning staff did a great job.
Can get a little noisy outside sometimes but the location is good. Free water fill up.

Everything in this hotel looks like it was made to cut costs.
The pillows are extremely uncomfortable, the toiletries are non existent except for a bar of soap or a single use pack of shampoo.

2 water bottles are in the room, but if you want a refill you need to go to the filling station which is not even connected to the electricity.

During our visit the entire first floor and part of the second smelled like sewage.

The check in fast and efficient though we check in late in the evening. Rooms were clean and of reasonable size. However of the four rooms, in three rooms the toilet flush system did not work. It was only repaired the next day.
Hotel itself was also very clean and noticed that staff was constantly cleaning. One drawback was that the hotel did not have a pool like many other hotels a short distance away.

Excellent location close to the strip of tourist shops and restaurants. It is only 5 minutes walk to Chili's Bar from which it is a 30 metre swim to where the sardine run is. The property is very clean, beds are comfortable, rooms have airconditioning and are a good size. Very comfortable night stay. The staff were super friendly and helped arrange canyoneering tour the next day, and transportation to our next destination, etc. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would certainly stay here again.

It was clean and comfortable with a functioning air condition....sometimes thats all you need
Locations central and close to beach front ready for your snorkel and rest
Note that in Saturday night its close to a night club so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper
Room- spacious with hangers etc which is fantastic if you need to dry things
Service- okay, in our last day we asked to use a shower they charged us 100 peso to use a gym shower before we left but they did give us towels
Food- can't say didn't eat there

There was no parking and it was very hard to excess property safely in small automobile and the staff wasn't helpful at all with parking and the parking they told us we could use cost more money and the car wouldn be in a safe area. Very disappointed with the location of property and the condition of the property on outside. For the parking I think the website should explain in more detail the property is located very far off the main highway and in a squatters area. When arriving at the property it was very difficult to unload luggage and no unloading area and no one to assist unloading luggage. I don't advise anyone to book this property is you are used to a nice location and being assisted as a guest and like you're at a resort because that's not gonna happen. Guess I should add on Saturday night they have disco band at one of the neighboring properties and it was so very very loud ear plugs and turning tv up, doesn't help and they play the music past 3:00 a.m. so if you're looking for a relaxing comfortable place to stay this is not it. Would like to add I ask for refund so I could transfer to another property that had availability they refused My refund. I was so happy to leave that property never ever return there again and my wife is from the philippines.

This hotel is quite basic, appropriate for its rustic location reached from the town of Moalboal by tricycle or car on a bumpy unpaved road. The rooms are generally clean, comfortable, and well-air conditioned (though it should be noted that there is no daily housekeeping). The bathroom and shower are small but do the job with sufficiently hot water. The staff is friendly and helpful but are not available 24 hours so be sure to arrive during appropriate hours.

The true highlight of this hotel is its GREAT LOCATION! Within a 1-2 minute walk is a small stretch of sandy beach and lots of great restaurants/bars overlooking the water, as well as numerous tour companies that easily facilitate day trips to Kawasan and other Hidden Falls. The convenient location, in combination with the decent accommodations, is enough to make me return in the future!

Wish I was a diver. Great diving area

We were 3 nights at D' Gecko. Right in the middle of this diving area. The girls at reception were nice and helpful. Room was clean . Had a few toiletries. Shower hard to control and flow a bit weak. Nice location. All just 6 minutes from hotel. Good food at many places. Rough ride on a tricycle to get here and back to bus stop. Very helpful getting a tricycle back to bus in a rain storm.

Stayed one night only. Staff were very accommodating and the hotel location was excellent, just a minute from many great bars and restaurants. Hotel is in immaculate condition and kept very clean.

Good location. 30 seconds ro the beach. Bars and restaurants nearby. Wifi good in lobby. Really clean and fresh hotel. All staff really friendly. Security guard at nite too.

nice hotel close to the beach. just be prepared to leave your shoes at the entry before going to your room. they have sandles to replace shoes as you go to your room. they have your packages to many destinations but if a little adventurous you can see the sights on your own for at least half the price.
