Amazing stay on the Amalfi Coast
This place is incredible! An amazing cliffside setting with direct access to the emerald water of the Mediterranean. However, because of its setting, there are a lot of stairs (not for those who are out of shape). There are 165 steps down to the accommodation from the main road (staff helped with luggage) and another 300 steps down to the water. That said, this is a spectacular location and a wonderful place to stay. Clean well-appointed rooms. We stayed in a room with our own deck area and private hot tub. Other rooms share a communal hot tub. Great made-to-order breakfast is included. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nearby restaurants within walking distance. Parking is very limited and driving and parking along the Amalfi Coast are tricky and tight. We drove and found parking along the road with our small car. Keep the hotel posted with your method of travel (car, driver, taxi, etc.) so that they can anticipate your arrival. Try lunch at the nearby seaside restaurant only accessible by the water (they will pick you up at the hotel dock area for free). Can't recommend this place enough.

The view is worth every penny! We loved the private water access and hot tub. The walk to Amalfi is beautiful and there are amazing restaurants just nearby as well. We definitely recommend!

The location of the hotel is exceptional and being able to walk to the ocean and swim is very special. Loved all the steps on the property. It would have been nice to use the sauna but it was out of order. Otherwise everything was perfect and I would definitely come back and recommend.

Amazing simple little hotel. Great location, a cozy private beach (expect lots of stairs, as usual in Amalfi), nice breakfast, comfortable beds. Excellent service orchestrated by Sasa. Location quite comfortable, walkable to the Amalfi center, plus busses. Several nice restaurants within short walking distance. There are lots of stairs to the stree level but that's Amalfi. Highly recommended, hope to come back.

Comfortable stay and the staff was so friendly and helpful. They reached out to me ahead of time to provide location details and find out our arrival time. The hotel is around 200? steps down from the road. After finding out that we were driving there they gave me some options. We could either park it with them but would not have easy access since it’s not stored onsite or park on the narrow street. We parked on the street. A staff member greeted us by the road and helped get our heaviest pieces of luggage’s down the stairs.

Beautiful property and views. Nighttime facility caretaker was emotional over a missed local restaurant reservation - we were told it was a busy restaurant though no one was there when we went and thought they were closed. The caretaker refused to listen and decided to ignore us for the rest of our stay and not offer any service such as turning on the sauna for us. Room was advertised with private patio and hot tub. Patio was public for all guests to use right outside our window, because of that we couldn’t open it for privacy. Hot tub was cold - not heated.

Paradise stay in Amalfi
Our stay at Villa Santa Maria felt like we were in paradise! Prior to arriving Francesca messaged us on to confirm at what time we would be arriving and advised us on how to get to the villa. We always took the Bus to and from Amalfi. It was a quick 10min bus ride and only costs 1.50 euros each way. Otherwise, the Taxi’s are extremely expensive (we were quoted 50 euros to bring us to the Villa)
Upon our arrival a gentleman met us at the bus stop and carried our suitcases down the 185 steps to the Villa! There we were met by Francesca who offered us drinks and welcomed us. To our surprise, the room was already ready. We booked an ocean view superior room. The views were Breathtaking!!

The beach/sauna/spa were all very fun to use and accessible. The ocean water was beautiful and warm.
The amenities at the Villa are beautiful and the food was also exceptionally good (Cesar salad YUM)! We were recommended to try Ciccio’s restaurant which is a short walk away and was delicious. Francesca helped us book as we were having trouble online.
We also realized we would be late to our booking for our car pickup in Salerno, and read online that some people had issues when they were late. Francesca called for us and explained in Italian that our Ferry would be arriving in Salerno later than expected.

We had a wonderful 3 nights! Our room with a jacuzzi on our own deck was lovely and perfect all day. The walk to the swim deck was beautiful and sunning and swimming delightful. An absolute gem off the beaten path of Amalfi! Yes the stairs are killer-no doubt about it. There are about 180 stairs to get down to the hotel and then about 200 more to get down to the private beach. If accessibility isn’t an issue, don’t hesitate for one second to choose this villa hotel. The views are breathtaking from top to bottom. The little beach feels like a private serene escape. And of course the staff is friendly and accommodating. We were on our honeymoon and got upgraded to stay in their private jacuzzi suite making us feel like the only ones there. Francesca and Guiseppe were always there for us- arranging shuttle services, restaurant reservations, water taxis, a late-night snack and so on. They made us feel beyond attended to. Amalfi’s main square is in walkable distance from the hotel-about 40 mins at a slower pace. To get to Positano, they arranged a water taxi that picked us up from the hotels private beach. Overall, we had an unbelievable stay!

Staff & Service: Francesca, Angelo, Gerardo - everyone there treats you like family and wants to make sure you are happy and comfortable. Francesca went above and beyond to help us arrange transportation and navigate the surrounding towns.
Property: In many of the reviews, you are going to read that there are a lot of stairs. Yes - it's true however, I visited this property 7 months pregnant and the stairs didn't bother me one bit. The reality is, this property is a hidden gem tucked away into a cliff. The views are incredible and it's very quiet/peaceful. In addition to that, you have private access to the beautiful water and a private beach. To me, this was priceless and worth every stair in order to get to and from the water. Every morning, I couldn't wait to open up the windows from our room and to look out at the ocean. Additionally, the rooms are super spacious, clean, and accommodating.
Location: It is important to note that this hotel is a 5 minute drive to the city center of Amalfi. Francesca was amazing at arranging taxis into town but note that every trip into town is roughly $20-$30 euros each way. This is not any fault of Villa Santa Maria, this is just the going rate for taxis in Amalfi. The good news is, there are good restaurants near the hotel that are walking distance.
I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else, Villa SM was the highlight of our Amalfi vacation, 5-stars!

Property: In many of the reviews, you are going to read that there are a lot of stairs. Yes - it's true however, I visited this property 7 months pregnant and the stairs didn't bother me one bit. The reality is, this property is a hidden gem tucked away into a cliff. The views are incredible and it's very quiet/peaceful. In addition to that, you have private access to the beautiful water and a private beach. To me, this was priceless and worth every stair in order to get to and from the water. Every morning, I couldn't wait to open up the windows from our room and to look out at the ocean. Additionally, the rooms are super spacious, clean, and accommodating.
Location: It is important to note that this hotel is a 5 minute drive to the city center of Amalfi. Francesca was amazing at arranging taxis into town but note that every trip into town is roughly $20-$30 euros each way. This is not any fault of Villa Santa Maria, this is just the going rate for taxis in Amalfi. The good news is, there are good restaurants near the hotel that are walking distance.
I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else, Villa SM was the highlight of our Amalfi vacation, 5-stars!

Premium price for an average place
This was our honeymoon stay. We’ve booked a junior suite, Room 8, for almost a $1,000 per night. This place is clean and acceptable; however, it is not worth a $1,000 a night. We had to walk in the dark as the lights worked on a timer and you needed to press the button for the lights to turn on. We were unable to use the jacuzzi at night as there were a lot of noises coming from the bushes and night and the poor lighting made it very difficult to see what was around. As I said, we paid premium price for an average stay. The view is great tho. Just be prepared to make your own arrangements for parking and be prepared to walk so many stairs as this property is located at a lower level and you will need to walk down the stairs, and up, to go in and out.

Beautiful views. room was spacious, we did have issues adjusting the AC and the internet would not work in our room. breakfast was good. Warning to anyone visiting, there are a LOT of stairs to get to the villa. The staff are available to help with carrying luggage but beware the stairs. it isn't located in Almalfi, so you need a taxi/bus to get to and from, but their is a bus stop in front of the hotel.

This was an amazing stay for me and my husband! The place was absolutely beautiful, with a sauna, free breakfast overlooking the most amazing ocean view, huge rooms, and a quick little walk that takes you to three private locations on the water, with the last one leading you to a little private cove and beach you can swim to. Truly the best stay we have had in all of Italy. The service was 11/10, with Francesca, Angelo, Gerardo, and the other amazing staff who all made our stay perfect! We would recommend this place to everyone we know based on service alone!

This property is notable for its access to the ocean with lounge chairs near the water. Many partying boats were anchored right off our resort with people enjoying the water and sun. Very nice. Many many stairs but that is the price to get up and down the cliff. Otherwise a pretty basic property, with limited food options (although a nice breakfast) and standard rooms.

No words to describe this amazing hotel. I am a traveler and I can say that from 70 countries, this place is in my top 3 best hotel views ever. Super calm, the vibe and energy are just incredible! The owner, Ms Francesca is the sweetest owner I’ve ever met! It is a must if you are around the area! I can keep writing but no need. And yes, I read from other guests that there are many stairs.. it is true but what do you expect? Elevator in a cliff…? It is worth it.

A huge plus for the hotel staff called us in advance to see if we needed a driver to get from the train station to the villa! 5-star rating all-around! Staff assisted carrying our luggage from the street to the villa. While there were plenty of steps to get down to the villa, it was quite worth it -- great sea view, and a great secluded spot. We had a suite, and was just the right amount of what we needed: spacious bed for two, clean bathroom, patio, and entryway. Staff was on-the-spot to clean our suite DURING the complementary breakfast: they would be done cleaning in about 15-20 minutes. Location is about a 40 minute walk to Amalfi main area. Enjoy the views while walking!

Christina was an amazing host and so welcoming. Her staff is beyond accommodating and really make you feel cared about. This is beyond just a hotel. It feels more like a bed and breakfast as far as taking care of their guests. The location is stunning and private beach is a must. I highly recommend this place. Tip: plan out your transportation prior to visiting.... and don’t drive a car in amalfi! It’s quite the nightmare. Christina can help you figure out the bus or she has her own driver that will not rip you off like the local taxis do.

I highly recommend Villa Santa Maria for it's location, attention to detail, grounds and service! From the minute we arrived through check out the front desk helped us with anything and everything we needed; they made us feel as if we were the only guests. The views and grounds are breathtaking. There are private trails, a private beach, hot tub and sauna, as well as a number of terraces to relax on, enjoy a book or have an afternoon snack/ drink. The rooms are well kept, with stunning views of the Amalfi Coast and you can't beat the value of this beautiful property.

Our stay at this place was not terrible by any means. The staff was great, and the porter was excellent. There are Only two things that I didn't like about this place. The first is that there are way too many steps that you have to take to get to the resort. I counted 156 from the street to the reception desk. Over 300 additional steps from the reception desk to the water. Also the room wasn't what we expected from the pictures. It was right beside the check in area, and not as private as it seems from the pictures. I wouldn't stay here again personally, but don't let that take away from future business. It was a really nice resort, but just a hassle to get around.

The hotel was a great place to end our honeymoon. It was about a mile from the center of Amalfi, so away from all the action, but close enough to get to on a short bus/cab trip. It was secluded and quiet, great for relaxing. The concierge was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The private \"beach\" was nice to to have our own place to lay in the sun and get in the water away from the general public.

Great place for a quiet and secluded stay on the busy Amalfi coast. Difficult to find with lots of steps down and up but once there, it's beautiful. Especially the \" beach\" direct on the water for great swimming and boat pick ups to go to waterfront restaurants. A great alternative to a larger hotel stay.

Pure peaceful rest
Our stay was amazing. When we got there someone was ready to carry our bags down to the hotel. Then we were greeted with a refreshing drink and snack. After checking in it was now after 3 PM so the local kitchens where closed till 7pm. Luisa made us a fabulous caprese salad and served it with two glasses of wine. It put us right into the vacation mode. The resort is very peaceful and the staff are extremely attentive to your needs. We went there to get away from all of the heavy tourist areas and just rest and this place delivered. If you do not like stairs to the street or water then this place is not for you. All the tourist buses were going into town which is a short walk down the road but we did not bother.

So the Santa Maria was in a great spot. Not too close to Amalfi - to be bothered by traffic and city noise - and the views were fantastic. Cute, quaint little room that was just enough for two people on their Honeymoon.

Probably just a nature of the location, but definitely took us by surprise. MAKE CERTAIN you can handle walking and alot of stairs. If you can, this place was great. The service / staff were great and informative. Also, two little restaurants were right up the street so didn't have to venture too far to get a good meal.

Had a brilliant time staying at this hotel, about 2 miles outside of the centre of Amalfi. Luisa, the hotel manager, was great and gave us great tips on places to go, where to eat, bus times etc - she really made a difference in our stay. The hotel itself is in a great location, a bus stop right outside and Amalfi well within walking distance. Not suitable for the immobile as there are many stairs to climb. Would definitely stay again

The hotel is far from amalfi. If you stay here I definitely recommend a car. We parked along the side of the road. There are many steps down to the hotel so if you have difficulty with steps I wouldn't advise staying here. There was a porter who brought our bags down when we checked in and carried everything up when we left. We could not have done without him. Our room was extremely small but it was clean. The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful we walked down to the little deck and had a swim. The water is crystal clear. Again many steps down to the water!! The views are breathtaking. Breakfast was ok croissants and coffee, cheese, fruit etc. Hotel staff was nice. I probably wouldn't stay here again because of its location but if you want somewhere quiet and relaxing this is it.

Amazing views, great staff, clean newly renovated rooms. The location is about a 20 minute walk to Amalfi. There is also easy bus and taxi service available. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They serve a great breakfast with a large variety of foods. Very happy with our stay.
