Next to busy road
If you have our luck, what sounds like fifteen people will stomp up and down the needs-to-be-updated staircase directly on the other side of the wall where your heads lay at five in the morning.
Uncomfortable blankets
Heat/air is either very warm or very cool, couldnt find a good middle ground. Perhaps user error, but doesnt seem like its got a thermostat.
Bathroom light does not turn off, door was hard to close/open. Midnight trip to the bathroom sure to be chilly because of need to keep the door closed.

You get what you pay for in Auburn. This place truly isnt terrible, its alright as a matter of fact. Could use an update of a handful of things but worth it if youre staying a night or two on a budget.

The checking was easy. I had prepaid for the stay. Miki was very helpful with my special needs accommodations. 1st floor, service animal. She was very nice and i enjoyed speaking with her.
For me, simple is perfect. I needed very little. My room was efficient and was all i needed. The room was clean and bright. Nice bathroom and shower. Good water pressure and plenty of Hot water. My queen bed was comfortable. The sheets and pillow cases were clean and fresh. There was enough for space for my gear, bags, and my pups bed. Again, he is a certified service animal.
Other furnishings were sparse. The surrounding area is a little busy at certain parts of the day and early evening, the rooms are set back from the street so it's not overly noisy.
Everything in zAuburn i is in close proximity.

I'll stay again when in town

Rooms were dirty smelled of weed and I got bedbugs got video and pictures of them crawling around got bitten pretty good on my arms and back, ended up sleeping in my truck with my wife from 2am until the sun came up all they wanted to offer me was a different room no thanks I'll pass. Hopefully I can get refunded by expedia, I'm pretty upset about the whole experience overall. 0 Stars

We stayed long enough to take pictures and left to find a decent place to stay. It was so bad that I ate the cost, plus the cost for a new Hotel,

The pictures speak for themselves, but I will summarize the main issues.

1. Dead ants in the fridge
2. Mold in the shower and along all baseboards
3. The bed was soft that when we sat on it we sank into a pit in the middle (12\" of movement).
4. brown stuff splattered on the ceiling
5. TV hung om the wall with the cords dangling below it.
6. No nightstands.
7. Air conditioner was disgusting

This is a great deal. If you need a clean place to stay the night in a safe area this is your choice. Very simple design with upgraded interior and has fridge and microwave. Basically two bedrooms to sleep in and bathroom /shower but perfect for what we needed coming in late.

This motel was definitely not worth $199 which is what we paid for the 1st night which was a Saturday. Maybe $90 which would have made up for how noisy it was for being on the corner of a main artery. We had never been to the area so we didn't know what to expect and we had read the other reviews so we thought for place to sleep it's just fine. When my husband saw the room, the 1st thing he said a coat of paint wouldn't hurt...I guess that's we get for picking a motel however it shouldn't cost $200 for a night even when we stayed 2 nights and the 2nd was cheaper. Still not cheap enough for I'm afraid.

I was looking for a clean place to sleep on a rail trip. This was a great place that fit my needs. It was clean and looked recently remodeled. When I check into a new place I always check the sheets and bed for signs of bugs. Past the test!! The sheets were clean and very nice to sleep in. The owner was nice and showed interest in my stay. It was a good stay for a motel.

Misleading advertising

This hotel has a misleading advertisement stating family room +2 bedrooms when it’s actually one room with two beds. I was not happy about that. Overall, maintenance condition was not good. Traffic noise was extremely loud. Could not sleep at all.

Nice comfortable basic no-frills motel for a budget price. We just needed a place to stay overnight and this was perfect. The facility is a bit aged and used, but they keep up on paint, maintenance, and the like. My only complaint is that there was more road noise than I prefer.

The Best Value in Auburn, CA, Clean & Comfortable

This is an independently owned Hotel and everyone working here is extremely kind and helpful. I would be here for one night but I liked it so much that I booked another night's stay. The location is phenomenal, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, wineries, and shopping are all just outside the door and it's less than half a mile from I-80. It is an older motel but everything has been updated and is safe and comfortable. When I checked in the owner told me I could have a complimentary water or beer for the adults I said I'll take it and he gave me both bottled water and Medelo beer. I like this place and will stay again the next time I'm through here.

This property makes me think about someone started with good intentions, but then stopped caring halfway through the job and abandoned the whole thing. Floors are somewhat new, paint and recessed lights, shower door looks nice and sturdy BUT... shower door keeps sliding open while you are showering (room 103 at least); recessed lights not working appropriately and because there is no bedside table light, forget reading in bed; no luggage stand, so all bags and suitcases go on the floor; not enough hangers or a place to actually hang anything; no table to eat or use as a luggage stand; no coffe maker; no hairdrier (you can to ask for one at the front); the microwave in our room was falling apart; the fridge in the room was not cleaned properly.
This is our second stay at this property and will be our last. Most of what I wrote about the room arrangement is applicable to at least another room.in the complex. I thought I could handle this second time, but no: the shower door sent it over the edge for both of us..😂

We got here on a Saturday night. Check in was quick and smooth, we were given water bottles for free too.

Room was tidy but there were some stains in the shower, flooring had a huge chip (they filled it with some other material so it wasn’t unsafe, just unaesthetic) and random sticker on the bathroom mirror.

Bed was comfortable but blanket was thin. It’s very close to the highway so it’s not the quietest.

I felt safe in the motel, but will probably not return.

Worst hotel stay ever. We arrived late and I immediately put my boys in bed, only to discover that the heater for the room was completely broken and would not switch on. It was plugged in, so clearly broken. Did not want to deal with changing rooms at the late hour, so just froze. Traffic noise at this location is excessive with really loud jacked up pick up trucks going by at all hours of the night. No amenities or coffee in rooms, except a fridge.

You get what you pay for. The hotel is right off the freeway on a main road, so do not expect a quiet's night sleep. The room was clean, but was in very poor condition. Definitely needed some touch up paint and repairs to rotting boards in the bathroom. No closet and barely enough room to place a suitcase in the corner. The staff was friendly though and it was nice having a frig and microwave. It is also walking distance to old town so that was good for us. But, honestly would not stay here again.

The motel design has garages on the first floor, so all luggage has to be carried upstairs.
The room was smaller than average. It was OK if you don't have much luggage.
The motel is at a noisy intersection.
The cable service only included a few channels.

Elmwood is my choice stay when in Auburn

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ for the location and price!

I stayed at the Elmwood Motel last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The place isn’t fancy, but it's clean, comfortable, and the staff is super friendly. My room was cozy with a surprisingly comfortable bed and fresh linens. The bathroom was clean. The location is pretty convenient, too – close enough to some local attractions and restaurants (Awful Annie’s). They offer free Wi-Fi, and it worked pretty well for browsing and streaming. The price was reasonable for what you get. If you’re looking for a no-frills place to lay your head, Elmwood Motel is a solid choice.

The location is great - walkable to downtown and oldtown, and lots of dining options nearby. The property and room were both very clean and overall we had a great stay at this property. We were hoping to check-in early since our reservation included early check-in but when we called they told us it was not possible so good to note that early check-in may not be available for you. We did ask for late check-out as our flights were later in the day, they gave us 30 minutes additional time. This wasn't as much as we were hoping for (1 hour) but we did appreciate a couple extra minutes. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

We got there super late! Staff was prompt but kinda blah and unfriendly. Once we got to out room, we could tell it had not been throughly cleaned. There was trash in the trash bins still. Tiny bathroom, stain on the wall.

The room was so small - my husband stayed for a business trip and wouldn’t even shower. There was only about an inch on each side of the toilet. There was a 1 and a half inch gap in the door to his room so someone could have put their hand under he door.
There was what looked like a blood stain on the wall. Husband did say it was relatively clean but still would never stay there again!!

This is an old building, but the owners have renovated it. There are new light fixtures, new shower, toilet and sink, fresh paint and trim. The floor coverings are also new. It is vinyl flooring. Everything is nice and clean. The bedding is all white. The people at the front desk appear to be the owners, and they are very accommodating, polite, and friendly.
