Overall, the stay was reasonable and the staff were friendly.
However, there were a number of negative points:
- The bathroom set-up was a grotesque affront to basic decency. It was “separated” from the bedroom by only a transparent glass screen, offering no privacy whatsoever. Had I been travelling with anyone other than my 7 year old son, this would have been an immediate deal breaker. Quite what the hotel designer and owner were thinking is a mystery, and I feel sorry for the staff who must be having to defend this aberration every day. Guests should be warned about this beforehand, however, as this is a departure from all norms of basic human decency.
- The bathroom extractor fan was very noisy and caused disturbance during the night.
- The room smelt of cigarette smoke.
- There is an unusual form of toilet roll rationing in place, with only one per room per day.

Requested a high floor but was told it was not possible. Didn’t even check to see if there was any available it was a flat no and not very courteous which is a shame because when I stayed in January you were very welcoming and accommodating. Hence the 3 stars

We then got moved with was hugely inconvenient as we had been travelling all day and u packed all our stuff. So we had to pack up again and move.
Secondly, the fire alarm (which was a false alarm) went off at 10pm and we had to leave our rooms for 20 mins. However whilst us and other people came from the rooms and we are stood outside in the cold, people remained sat in the bar and were continued to be served alcohol in the bar whilst the alarm was going off, This is totally unacceptable, if the alarm is going off, whether it’s a false alarm or a real fire people should treat it as such. We stayed here to relax prior to our marathon running race in the morning and this has turned into an absolute disaster of a stay. All round really really disappointing and completely unacceptable.

Staff were good but the Club Room on the 4th floor, above the outside gym area was noisy in the evening. Music & mic was an issue that you couldn't get away from. The evening would be understandable but music and loud Mic voice and heavy Bass started at 05:45am both days I stayed. Cant see me staying again if and when I'm in Portsmouth.

At 9.30pm with the Gym's music blaring I went to reception to ask when it would stop. 10pm I was told. What I wasn't told was that it would start again at 6.20am the next morning. I went down and complained again and was offered to move rooms - a pointless offer as we had already been woken up. Complained to the hotel who offered us a free stay - the irony ! Will never return !!!

The en-suite didn’t have anywhere to hang your bath towel or clothes. Consequently, after a shower the towels were wet and put on the floor after use. Unfortunately, I put a sign on the room door handle to ask for the room to be refreshed but that didn’t happen. When we returned the towels were still wet on the floor and no one had been inside. We could have recycled the towels for one extra night if there was a bath towel rack or peg.

Clean room, bed was a great size and very comfortable. Shower was a lovely size and also liked the glass wall splitting the bedroom/ bathroom. walls were very thin and could hear a lot. The shower fan was like an airplane taking off in the room. No smart TV/ Netflix. No phone or mini fridge in the room. Couldn’t contact reception when needed to without going down. The staff were not very friendly or helpful in the hotel and the bar/ grill plus the prices in the bar/ grill were astronomical for what you got.

The only thing that did not wow me is the quality of the food, especially the prawn salad, very disappointing even the lettuce had seen better day and the vinaigrette dressing just full of oil and tasteless. The young man working at the bar and the front of house, should be the manager he definitely knows what customer service is and looks like. Very knowledgeable, better than the guy with glasses who seems not fit for purpose, very arrogant and very unprofessional. Thank you to Maddy she’s also a superstar, always going to ask the kitchen, to give customer satisfaction while manager is doing God knows what in the kitchen instead being on the floor to make life easy for those working at the bar. The hotel was lovely, modern, fresh and I loved the shower. Reception staff warm, welcoming with a great can do and will do attitude, I had a wonderful time as long as I didn’t have to engage with the guys in blue and white shirts, they need more training in customer service and great team players.

I must say the food quality is very poor in bar area. Order Heartly Teriyaki with Salmon. Veg were dead as it they month old. Rest was from microwave. For £24 other places are giving quality food. Then I gave second chance and ordered veggie burger. It was dry, 100% dry zero flavour. Personally, if you cannot serve good food stick to hotel and gym

We stayed as we were going to portsmouth dockside. I did originally think it was closer to more things but thats my own fault for not checking. Easy to access though from the roads so just nipped in the car the next day. We stayed 1 night, had a drink in the bar. Didnt eat so cant comment on food. Very clean and staff friendly.

We stay here regularly but this stop was not as good as it usually is. One of our rooms was a disabled room, the bed was very low and not very comfortable and the water pressure was shocking making a shower a bit of a rubbish experience. When we asked if we could move we were told that all of the rooms are the same (which they aren’t) but we did manage to find another manager and swap for the second night. The music from the gym has an insanely high base level which makes any daytime relaxation impossible on the second floor - it’s not usually as loud as it was but we’d given up in all fairness.

The hotel room is tiny, I was prepared for it but not when I couldn’t really walk nor open my suitcase, and I am a petite size 6!! The first room was full of mould in the bathroom and so much dust bunnies it was disgusting! We had to move to another room but it was always so loud with the wind blowing under our door so we had to put a bath mat under the door at night before bed so we can sleep. It is also concerning when we got woken up at 1am by a stranger looking for someone! The glass sliding door to the bathroom is so near the bed it is ridiculous, we can see and hear things we don’t really want to! The shower floods no matter how hard we tried to shower slowly and not move, we had to sit sideways on the loo because of the flood which is ridiculous! I would have given it 1 star if not for the lovely Beth who is always so friendly and helpful. Chantelle helped us with sorting out a new room so shout out to the both of them. Be careful with the free parking as it is misleading, it isn’t free all day, only a few hours so we had to pay £5 per day.
