I feel obliged to write a review since the recent reviews are mixed. If you're looking for a hotel experience where you're in the hotel/room for a good chunk of the day, you might want to look elsewhere. If you're looking for a place to sleep for a weekend of exploring, this place is perfect.

I reserved a triple room somewhat last-minute for a weekend trip with my sister and a friend. The bathroom was clean, and the beds and room were perfectly comfortable, though it's definitely not a place to just hang out. We arrived a little after 3pm to check-in, which was quick and easy, and then we were back out for more sightseeing. We left early in the morning for a hike, so we didn't see anyone on our way out.

On the original email, check in was supposed to be between 3-10pm. We arrived at 3.30 to find someone very flustered and we were told to come back after 5 because the rooms hadn't been cleaned. We came back after 5 to find a key with our name on it, and proceeded to find our room alone. There seemed to be no-one on site other than another guest. The bar area was locked and closed up. The room was ok, beds were comfortable and seemed clean. Bathroom floor seemed ready to collapse and the main light/ extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working, so we had to shower in very dim light. The next morning, we searched the downstairs area to find someone to check out. Didn't stay for breakfast because we had to be out early. When we found someone, they were friendly enough. In fact the person who turned us away the day before was friendly, but not many staff around, which made it interesting when we couldn't get into our room at first because one of the two keys didn't work. It made us think, who would have helped? Where was everyone? Very eery! Moelfre is a beautiful place, the B&B had amazing views.

A place with so much potential but a bizarre experience. Everything in the room - curtains, cushions, carpet - seemed new and very promising but the attention and service that should have accompanied that good start was non-existent. At no point during our stay did we meet our hosts or any staff apart from bar staff who, although very pleasant, showed no sign of knowing that we were guests staying in the 'ghostly' property where, once the bar was shut, we felt like we were the only, and not very welcome, occupants of the whole building. It would have been nice to have been warned that, unlike all other inns, hotels, etc., that we have stayed in, there would be no service of any kind to our room throughout our stay - no replenishment of towels or the coffee/tea tray. There was a vacuum cleaner outside our door so, had it been necessary, we could have done our own cleaning! The establishment serves food but there was no breakfast available which also seemed unusual in our experience.

Granted, we did only give 5 hours notice of our arrival, but the room was dirty and cold on arrival. No heating in the bathroom and the window wouldn't close properly. No soap and we found dried toothpaste on the bed linen. The table was unwiped and greasy. We requested to move rooms and, as much as it was a better room, it did also have issues. No soap in the bathroom and the light was quite frankly dangerous and didn't not stay lit. We found another review which said the same thing back in June so not good maintenance really. The furniture is tired and tatty. Wouldn't call a 3 or 4 star at all, more like a hostel. No option for breakfast. Not good value for money at all. If I had paid £50-60 I wouldn't be complaining, but at £100 it was well overpriced.

The property looked rundown and unkempt. The driveway borders were like meadow grass. Despite being the only people booked in , warning sign, we were shown into a room with a faulty bathroom light, we were moved. Again we were the only people booked in for dinner, further warning sign. The food was very limited, poor quality and very overpriced. The stay confirmed our thoughts that staying in UK is not good value for money. This is the first time that we have ever written a review.

The connected pub wasn't open, which wasnt obvious at any point before booking. Lovely pub half a mile walk away saved the day.

The room itself was tired, the toilet didn't refil properly and in general it felt very old. Was quiet and comfortable regardless, but wouldn't rush back.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE IT IS CLOSED. After a 20 mile day on a walking trip we turned up to find the place closed. On contacting hotels.com they spent 45 minutes trying to find us alternative accomodation and having failed they hung up and never called us back. Left stranded and getting dark we could only find a place 40 miles away available and had to sort transport to and from ourselves which left us £200 out of pocket let alone a massive inconvenience. Hotels.com have still not called us back...

I wish I had stayed somewhere else

Our room was cold, heaters provide but only 3 sockets in the room so if we wanted to be warm we could watch TV but not use the kettle or charge a mobile or have a light on the bed was well past its best and the curtains were not blackout..

The standard of breakfast was incredibly poor as the produce was obviously so cheap, awful sausages, fatty bacon etc. we asked for Decaf coffee but were told none available, it was so bad that we didn't eat it, the staff were very pleasant though.

On arrival the older lady that was sat at the desk shot off, didn't even say hi and a young lady then booked us in, the young lady by the end of our stay it became apparent does everything, check in check out, cooks breakfast and she was the one good thing about the establishment along with the views.

Have Stayed a couple of times now. Its just a great place to stay.
Friendly but none fussy and none mithery - do as you please, but the lovely owners are there if you need them. Wonderful sea views, you are just 5 minutes from the bay.
Gorgeous breakfast included in the price.
For the price that they charge you cannot go wrong.

The photos about the hotel must have been taken along time ago as they didn't fairly represent how the rooms look now.

Everywhere was tired and shabby and the stairs and landing needed a good vacuum. None of the rooms in The Inn could be called luxury.

The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Up to date photos need to be taken and a review of the star rating to accurately reflect the current accommodation should be done.

Welcome was poor, didn’t seem to be bothered. Told there was no evening meal as there was a function on. This should have been made clear prior to our stay. After spending the day walking we didn’t really want to go out again for food but had to. Room was ok, bed comfortable. The chap who served breakfast was really nice and is the reason the review wasn’t worse. The whole place needs redecorating and the dining room chairs need replacing. When we came down for breakfast the bar area was a mess having not been cleaned up from previous night. This could be a fantastic place. Would not recommend or stay there again unless changes were made.

After reading several negative feedbacks I was unsure, but you can’t please everyone so as a family of four it is quite difficult getting a room, so we booked, so glad we did, the room was bright clean lovely sea view, and the evening meal delicious cooked to,perfection breakfast simply lovely.
We will definitely go back for another stay here as one of our very favourites in Wales.
Take no notice of any negatives the place is great and dog friendly too.

On the positive side, the hotel was in an excellent situation and with a great deal of potential. The staff were friendly and the food was well cooked with substantial breakfasts. One could forgive the old fashioned décor, anaglypta wall paper and artex ceilings. Even the paper thin wall in the bedrooms didn't prove too much of a problem. However, the hotel seemed short staffed, badly managed and in dire need of a clean. Although the bedding and towels were fresh and clean, the mattress felt like a charity shop reject and the bedhead had to jammed by a cushion to stop it attacking you every time you moved in bed. A cracked sink adorned the bathroom, with mould on the wall and the toilet roll holder fell off the wall on our first night. Tea and coffee were provided and replaced each day, but we had to wash a filthy saucer the day we arrived. It is the only hotel we have ever been in where we had to make our own bed every day! The breakfasts were unimaginative, and there seemed to be a supply issue with items missing off the limited dog-eared menus Tables were not set properly on one morning, and the tables themselves were sticky. The carpet in the restaurant, hall and stairs was in dire need of a decent clean, and many of the chairs in the bar area were broken and uncomfortable. We found our final bill was wrong, with our first night's food and drink missing, which we did bring to their attention. We will not be going back!

This property needs a deep clean. Furniture is stained menus sticky. Tables sticky. The outside and inside is completely neglected. It has great potential such a shame. Staff and breakfast were lovely but I didn't dare think of what the kitchen would be like.

Sadly not the best

Having stayed here several times over the past few years and had no problems whatsover in the past. I was dissapointed to see that standards have dropped, the old staff appear to have left and new staff are admittedly inexperienced. I ate in the restaurant on my first evening and waited 30 mins after finishing my meal before anyone came over to ask if all was ok and did I want to order a dessert. I asked for a glass of sparkly water and was given tonic water, the waitress thought it was all the same. The following lunch time we ordered soft drinks, there was no ice and staff couldn't find lemons and only had one straw. The staff have always been very dog friendly offering treats and water bowls with fresh water, but I was concerned to see that the drinkng water for the dogs was unclean and was never changed while I was there. Sadly no treats anymore in the jar for the doggies. Some reception staff sat outside at the front of the building smoking even though it says \"this is a no smoking area \" On departure no one was on reception for me to check out so I just left the key on the desk. One last thing which was just awful, the wheelie bin outside for the doggy poo bags is absolutely full to the top and overflowing. I sincerely hope things improve and get back to normal as this used to be a lovely place to stay.

Stayed in family room. On arrival informed large 60th party happening and an email was sent to inform us. Never received email. Had stayed in room before so knew what to expect. Bedding clean and comfy. Window would not close as lock is falling off preventing closure. Bathroom ceiling has mould on it. They were dragging tables around in the early hours to try to get ready for morning. Not what i wanted to hear at 1.30 in the morning. Even left dirty used glasses from party on bar, same bar where drinks for breakfast were being served. Really didnt take much to clean the area where food was being served next morning. It felt as if there was not enough staff on or attention to detail was lacking. It felt the party was more important than current paying guests. Really do like this place but we paid full price for a cut price service.

Ruined my New Year also. Staff did not advise that meal times had changed for New Year so when we came down for evening meal was told had to go elsewhere. Staff did not seem apologetic or in the slightest bit interested. The location is lovely, the rooms need some tlc and the staff need at the very least some customer service skills.

Don't expect too much for the money.

Visitors have to remember that Anglesey has very few hotels so the price you pay will be far more than a Cardiff hotel with much better facilities. This is an adequate room above a pub rather than a 3 star plus hotel. Having said that, the refurbishment needs to move on at a faster pace. Bath/shower sealant, mould on ceiling (room 8) are priorities along with replacement windows. In the short term, some toiletries would help (£90 a night and one or tiny bars of soap - no shampoo, lotions etc) and an improvement to the wi-fi is a necessity in the 21st century. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and the food excellent.

Cracking breakfast (proper sausage & bacon) great as a base to explore the island with a welcoming pint on your return. Its an old building so sound travels throughout the rooms but had no problem sleeping. didn't get a chance to try the evening food as had bookings elsewhere but if the breakfast was anything to go by I imagine that the food would be good (seemed to be busy). New owners very welcoming.

Absolutely terrific experience. My son is autistic and wouldn’t have enjoyed having his evening meal amongst the other guests with it being busy, so the staff allowed us to have our meal in the room. Which was just so appreciated. Lovely place lovely staff. The family room we had was bunk beds and a double bed. Will def be back

The only criticism was the beds felt damp. I do understand we've had a period of warm weather, so the heating probably never been on. But the room definitely needed airing yesterday due to the wet weather. Other than that the hotel was lovely.

Lovely looking hotel from the outside and communal areas, bar, restaurant and lounges very nicely appointed. We chose Executive Room which was large with lovely views. Bathroom was large, good water pressure and clean. Room was rather tired and walls thin with noise easily transmitted. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked with a good variety. Staff were superb, helpful, and very friendly. Service was outstanding

OK for a short stay

I had room 10 which is a single. It looked out over the back carpark and kitchens. It could get noisy at night when drinkers left and occasionally in the morning when staff and supplies arrived. The room was very small with only an upright chair or the bed to sit on. The bed was firm, which I don't mind, but the pillows were thin and hard. The bathroom was excellent and the towels and sheets spotless. Plenty of tea and coffee were provided. The walls, however, are thin and I would advise taking earplugs in case of crying babies or snorers next door. The decor was pleasant and there was a sea view from the window. The price was good.

Homely feel in dinning room but the chairs are collapsing with broken springs. Staff offered cushions to help situation.Lovely outlook and good location. Outside the benches are rotting away and need replacing or at least new stain applied and some weeding would improve the area.

Chalet itself is fine however it is quite literally in the car park with no privacy and cars parked right up to the windows ! If it had been nice weather there is nowhere to sit in the sun as round the side is overgrown and damp.
An area fenced off in front would make a massive difference.

Shower was extremely small or a generously proportioned gentleman.
During the night I had to go and secure the bin shed gate as it was banging in the wind, keeping me awake.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The view over the straights was superb.
Perfect setting the Inn just needs a few small tweaks to complete it and make it a superb ecperience

The Ty Dderw Country Inn is located in a rural area with nice views to the coastline. The pub section of the hotel has a warm and welcoming feel and the restaurant section serves excellent and well priced meals. The rooms are comfortable with an old fashioned vibe in keeping with the building. Definitely a great place to relax and unwind while meeting fellow travellers in convivial surroundings.

nice small hotel with bar and restaurant. rooms are a bit jaded with wear and tear and marks here and there.
but the room a decent size and bathroom a generous size. plenty of tea and coffee in room and biscuits and hot chocolate a lovely touch,
rooms quiet to allow for a sound nights sleep. however mattress could been better felt old and made me ache.

Excellent position for exploring

The hotel is in an excellent position for exploring the west side of the island with off road parking. Their is very good food also available after a day out. The breakfast is excellent both in choice and produce, bacon really tasty. The lounge area and bar are very comfortable. My only comment would be that maybe a bit tired in the dining room, the chairs and carpet in particular. However, we would stay again.

A pleasant traditional inn.

Situated in a very pleasant location, close to the coast. Easy parking, free wi-fi (but weak upstairs), good breakfasts, evening meals pleasant but not memorable. The bedrooms are small with no wardrobe, and the mattress soft and uncomfortable.

Helpful and friendly staff. Nice ambience. Rooms clean and suited us (family room) perfectly. Enjoyed a beer or two in the evening and overall would recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, great base to explore Angelsey

A family of 2 adults and 2 kids this was a lovely small hotel perfect for our overnight stay as a base to explore Anglesey and its lovely beaches.

Family room was basic but a good size, with bunks for the kids.

Food in the restaurant was very good and staff very friendly.

Big disappointment...

We had stayed at the Ty Dderw Country Inn previously and enjoyed it, so rebooked. Different experience this time. At check-in the lady asked us whether we are dog lovers as several rooms were apparently occupied by owners plus their dogs. We are not 'ante' dogs per se but there was nothing on the web site about this place being a dog friendly hotel. Maybe best avoid if you don't wish to share your accommodation with pets. The main problem was that this time we were given Room 11. This is right by the stairs. You hear noise every time someone arrives / leaves late into the evening and early in the morning. You hear the reception phone every time it goes off. If you book Ty Dderw advise make sure you are not going to be given room 11, or take ear plugs !! After 2 sleepless nights of a booked 3 night stay we checked out (but were still charged for the 3rd night - apparently because we had booked via Expedia who were no help at all in negotiating a reduction).

Overnight stay on Anglesey visiting relatives

It was only a brief stay on Anglesey and we were so impressed by the area that we will go back. We will probably stay somewhere else next time though.
The hotel is very average and needs a revamp/new decoration.
On the negative aspect the toilet had not been cleaned properly which was not pleasing from the start. Also pillows were flat as pancakes so not much sleep to be had.
On the positive side the cooked breakfast was very tasty.

Love small hotel and very friendly staff. Only drawback is no lift so not good for disabled visitors. One other small point double bed booked but two singles instead of. Wifi a bit \"Ifi\"!

Eisteddfod stop

With the Eisteddfod being on Anglesey/Ynys Mon my fiancee was on the island for the week as a regular visitor to the Eisteddfod. I joined up for a few days and as part of that booked for us to stay relatively near to the venue. Moelfre isn't too far away so provided a good location bearing in mind that places were scarce due to the event.

I arrived early evening to check in and received a friendly welcome. Everything was explained and I found the room was as expected providing all the essentials and being clean and tidy.

After a long day at the festival we arrived back around 10pm. The bar still had some guests in and there is some noise, mainly due to the building being old and floorboards/walls representative of the age of the building. Please note that the noise isn't too overbearing though.
The bathroom isn't big but as it's clean and the shower good it was fine.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and this really showed how lovely the building is. It's spacious, nicely decorated and breakfast was plentiful and tasty!

Overall, Ty Dderw provides a friendly welcome and good quality at a reasonable price.

Breakfast is plentiful and is made to order full English/ Welsh breakfast (inc continental options).

Have and will always opt for this hotel when working in the area.

...Always upset when fully booked due to its popularity.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful area.

We have stayed on Anglesey before but not at this hotel, but would definitely stay here again. We received a warm welcome and our room was very comfortable and clean with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside..We had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent but be sure to book a table as it seems very popular. The breakfast was also excellent with a choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt and juice followed by a full English breakfast, toast, tea or coffee. We would recommend a stay at this country inn.

Wonderful staff

We had a lovely two-night stay. Excellent full breakfast. Beautiful location near to beaches, remote from town. Very peaceful. And, when we accidentally left some personal items behind, the staff immediately found out things and offered to mail them on to us. We received them within a day - very thiughtful.

Huge breakfast and great value!

A pleasant spot to stay

The Ty DDerw is good value for money, perhaps the rooms are a little tired, but they are comfortable, heated, and everything work well. The bar and restaurant were very good, with a friendly crowd of locals and holidaymakers, and the location was pleasantly rural with glimpses of the sea over green fields. Staff were friendly and helpful.

when we looked at the web site for the Ty Ddrew the rooms looked large and very nice with double beds in, but we ended up in what I would call a cupboard with two single beds in it we did ask for another room and was told there wasn`t one, yet there were a couple of keys to other rooms hanging up.

Trip out to make most of sun

Amazing weather and then a great stay in a lovely Country Inn. So handy for everything in Moelfre and a fantastic cooked breakfast in the morning. Couldn't ask for anymore. We'll be back.

Teriffic value for money
