Absolutely loved our stay…much more than expected, the photos do not do this hotel justice. Free parking, friendly check in, beautiful restaurant and bar, amazing food, clean bedding, room and bathroom, amazing bed, quiet stay…literally cannot fault it in any way. Already planning our return stay for afternoon tea. Thanks to all the staff there.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean but freezing cold on arrival. We asked them to look at it and when we got back later was warm. In the morning, tv switched on But batteries dead in control, couldn’t change channel or volume!!

The room was emaculate and the staff were excellent. Even in the smaller room I was in the bathroom and bath was full size. The only downside was the roo. Could do with a plug near the bed for phones instead of aolely being accroas the room.

I wouldn't rate this as a four star hotel, compared to other four stars I've stayed in. The room decor is tired and there's limited extras in the room, eg no biscuits or sundries you sometimes get. My room was over the boiler and although I slept well (with ear plugs which I always take) the vibrations kept me awake on my second night.
However, this is the best hotel I've stayed in Peterborough. The downstairs is comfortable and characterful. The staff are excellent and that makes up for a lot. The breakfast was pleasant but could be improved.

Nice clean room - I looked at all the usual missed bits .
The room was really hot , a team member did try and turn the radiator off for me but it didn’t work unfortunately. I could open the window and there was a fan .
I would certainly stay again .

The Bull is in a great location for Peterborough city centre. Close to shops, restaurants and the cathedral.

The staff were friendly and professional.

The bar was nice, a good selection of drinks. They were kind enough to make us sandwiches well after midnight.

Unfortunately the rooms are quite tired, looking quite grubby. The car park was also partially flooded.

Late decision to stay in Peterborough after train problems/engineering etc.
Good central location and only a 5 minute walk from train station.
Nice comfy room and bed.
And it was exactly what I was looking for.

The exterior and foyer of the hotel look great. The rooms are ok, but virtually no soundproofing. Window wouldn’t shut properly. There was a large military party in the hotel. My corridor only had 8 rooms, I was the only room not part of the military group. I was woken up at 4:30am by drunk men shouting outside my door. This went on for half an hour. I told reception in the morning. They didn’t seem to care. As a woman travelling on my own, having a large group of drunk men shouting in the corridor outside my room was very unsettling. I’m not sure why they allocated me a room with that lot.

No sleep due to a massive weeding and my room was right above the wedding was moved to the front but between 12am and 3.30am massive fights etc right outside my window when I went to reception at 3am I was told to call the police me a guest!
Phone didn’t work in the room as well and sash window that was covered in dirt and banging with the wind all night!!! No sleep at all

I had a little trouble finding the car park but the receptionist was brilliant in helping me out and giving me a pre-printed map and an accurate post code for my SatNav. Check-in was seamless. Food was excellent. Wonderful ambience in the bar. Comfy room.

Comfortable and central.

Central city location, just a short stroll to the New Theatre, and Lido. Comfortable (though dated) bedrooms. Welcoming communual bar and lounge facilities. Free on site parking was a bonus. We booked two double rooms for two nights. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating, and by prior arrangement, allocated us adjacent rooms.

Nightmare to find the place!!!

The place itself is terrible to find. The post code on the site is wrong, the hotel said they were having it corrected, I was at the hotel 5 months ago and they had the same incorrect post code back then so it took me a long time to find it. I had give the hotel a call twice for directions so they obviously haven’t had it corrected.
It’s fuel and customer tome that’s being wasted. As a result, we were late to our evening event.

Secure parking (included in your price)
Opt for a room with Air Con, as it was so very hot in the room. It did have a portable fan for use.
The breakfast was average. Nothing spectacular about the breakfast.
When we got to the cooked breakfast they’d ran out of most items and had to wait for freshly cooked items. NOT SELF SERVICE.

Positives, Friendly helpful staff, lovely old building and decorated nice and tastefully.
Beds were comfortable (pillows weren’t)
Car is in a secure car park with locked gates at night.
Clean hotel throughout.
Staff very accommodating, switched our room for second night due to heat/no air con.

I Shall Return

I have stayed at the Bull Hotel once before because I live in Skegness and I needrd to catch an early train from Peterborough. So, when I needed to do the same thing the Bull was the obvious place to stay. There is plenty of parking, with two EV chargers. I programmed my car's sat nav with 3 Fitzwilliam Street Peterborough as the archway over the entrance to the carpark is immediately to the left of number 3. The room I had was clean, tidy comfortable with two armchairs. The bed was comfy. I ate breakfast there. Breakfast is a buffet. Breakfast was an enjoyable experience. To quote MacArthur when thr Japanese invaded the Philippines 'I shall return'.

Our Room 202 although Basic with a backyard view was ultra clean and did what its meant to do. The bar however was absolutely amazing, and a pleasure to sit and relax ..... Has to be the nicest hotel in Peterborough

This is our second stay here and once again we've had a lovely time, so much so ive booked anothe stay for December. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and our room was perfect for us. The hotel is in the city centre and is a short walk from the cinema, many pubs, restaurants and shops.

Fobbed off with the wrong room

We had paid for an executive room and were given a standard room where the aircon didn’t work and hadn’t been cleaned properly. We were robbed off that it was the correct room until they found out we have stayed before many times over the last 38 years. We were then moved to the correct room.

Have stayed number of times and this is a hotel with a great location, friendly staff and free car parking in the hotel private car park. Breakfast is excellent and a good choice of drinks at the bar. Only issue is the stairs to the room having to carry luggage !

The Bull Hotel proved to be a great choice for a quick stopover in Peterborough (7 minute walk from the train station). It’s an older hotel but has lots of charm. I’d recommend it for a short stay. A surprisingly good price was an extra bonus !

Good price for the convenience of being within walking distance of the rail station and the town centre.

No air con in our room though there was a fan. Our stay coincided with the hottest day of the year, up to that point. On hotter days, the room may become stifling.

We reported to reception that the extractor fan in our room didn't work.

I chose the 4 star hotel for a special occasion, booked a deluxe room which was worse or same as a premiere inn. Staff not very friendly shouting across the room at breakfast, very basic room no fridge no complimentary water I expected better for a deluxe room,I dread to think what a standard room looks like. Disappointing!! Wouldn’t stay again.

I stayed for 2 nights and I would not book again. I found the reception staff to be either unpleasant or rude. It was a bizarre juxtaposition because due to how nice the downstairs lobby seemed in terms of decor and ambience I was surprised at how dated the room was. All power points were on the opposite end of the room to the bed (which is just annoying in 2025) and one of them didn't work properly. The shower was so strong it was painful and unpleasant to use. It was roasting in the room but there was no climate control nor any way to turn the radiator off. The desk chair had no cushion so was uncomfortable. The mattress on the bed was the same- it felt cheap, but I slept well enough in it. For such a short stay my key card stopped working multiple times to the point of frustration, and when it was working it took ages for the door to register it to let you through. (They did admit that they were updating this soon at least!) The hotel breakfast was expensive for what you got (I know hotel breakfasts are expensive but this did not feel worth it) and the staff were having a loud personal conversation that was disruptive to the peace of the early morning. I was in Peterborough for an event so I thought I would use my rewards points to stay at an independent rather than a chain. I'm sad that I wasted them on this hotel and I regret not staying in the Premier Inn instead.

Rooms are very dated. We paid for a delux but it was tiny, old and dated. My husband who is only 6.1 could not stand under the shower as it wasnt high enough. They also made a mistake and tried to charge up for breakfast,we had to find our original booking which yook a while by which time ourwe had to leave so we couldnt have breakfast. They wouldnt refund and when we tried ti claim back through the people we booked with the hotel told them we'd refused breskfast which wasnt true

The hotel is well located right in the centre of Peterborough with plenty of onsite parking which is a bonus. Our only criticism would be directed towards the check-in on our arrival. The chap on reception seemed disinterested and bored as his body language showed. We didn't use the bar or the restaurant so we can't comment on these although the decor is very welcoming throughout the hotel and it's a lovely place to stay.

Only one VERY important improvement could have tipped our stay into 5*, and that is IF THE WEBSIT HAD THE POSTCODE for the CAR PRK, which is NOT the same as the post code listed in the hotel address, and that would have saved us 45 min of driving stress, asking people, going down local roads, seeing the Catgedral, knowing we weee close but, oh so far. Eventually I persuaded my friend to phone tge hotel- receptionist said ‘you need another postcode’!!!
On arrival, another receptionist said they get hundreds of phone calls a month regarding this! So, just update the website please.
Food- dinner, breakfast lovely, room great- comfortable, super beds, spotless, only shower problemstic. Couldn’t get it to work.water temp ✔️, was able to sponge myself down, but did not want to risk having a bath- mobility issues.TV good reception. All staff friendly and helpful. And, could leave car in car park when we went to the cathedral to visit ‘The Longest Tarn wxhibition- a short walk from hotel. Rwcconend the exhibition, on March 2025, recommend the hotel

Hotel was clean, staff friendly, and was close to the city centre. Breakfast was average, a good selection but as it was buffet style its hit and miss. Room was spacious, shower had good pressure but the shower door was not the best and the water was spraying out on the bathroom floor. Bed was a good size but the mattress was quite hard and the pillows were not the softest too. Overall we were impressed with the hotel and would definitely stay again.

Room 109 - at the back of the Annex, good bed, decent bathroom, woeful view across a carpark, but that was no problem as I was only staying overnight and it was near dark when I arrived.

Used the bar when I came back from dinner elsewhere, decent pint of JHB before bedtime...kudos to new night staff member Sarah for her service, good addition to The Bull team

I used to stay at the Bull a lot on business. It was so pleasing to see that it is still as good as ever. Our room was so comfy, well appointed and in superb condition. The breakfast was really good too. The car park is free for staying guests too. I can't leave out the hotel staff who were all very helpful.

When I arrived to the hotel to checkin the male receptionist was clearly having a bad day, did not provide me any information about my stay. I had to ask for basic information like where was the lift (that does not exists) and the direction to my room. For my surprise my key card also didn’t work and I had to go down and ask for a new card, again the same receptionist didn’t apologize for the inconvenience and again very dry. The corridors had a strong smell of fresh paint and my room had a very strong smell, I am not sure where it came from, maybe it was the old carpet or something else but was definitely unpleasant. I had to take a pill for allergies as my skin started to flare up .

The hotel is lovely and the staff helpful. I asked for a room change because I like to look out onto the street, which they kindly did.
It is in the heart of town but that does mean its not the nicest of areas to walk around at night. Pubs and clubs are right there, so great if you're planning on going out out :)
