I don’t know how this is 4-star hotel. We had to carry our bags down a full flight of stairs, down a hallway to a lift, go up one floor on the lift, then carry the bags up a whole other flight of stairs. Room was stifling, no air, not even a fan. Original windows at least a hundred years old.

It was a really nice older property. The staff were all lovely and helpful, they had suggestions of where to go and what to see. The breakfast was really good and there was plenty of choice. The dining room, was roomy and had a great views. We had dinner there a couple of nights, although there wasn't a massive choice, we enjoyed what we ordered. On arrival, tried to have a hot shower but we told to ‘give it time’ to heat up on numerous occasions. It transpired they had an issue with the heating earlier in the day so it would take a while. It would have been good to been made aware of this before our stay in the morning to make other arrangements.

We paid for the best room but found it disappointing in that there were no shampoo/body lotion/shower caps in the bathroom. The single beds were very narrow. Signs to the reception/bar and dining area were not there and the place was like a rabbit warren tracking them down. However, on the plus side, the room was kept scrupulously clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We appreciate it was part of the university.

The surrounds are lovely and well kept. Our room (disabled) was very big, clean and had everything needed. Breakfasts and dinners were fresh, very well cooked and beautifully presented. The hotel complex has a ring of student accommodation and an old building that has been adapted. All in all it’s a very good base for sightseeing- especially Anglesey and the north west coast. Don’t expect luxury though.

Part of the University of Bangor campus, clean, good condition, comfortable, reasonably priced and quiet. However on arrival there is a check in desk by the door this is not where you check in a sign tells you to go to the main reception in X Hall but doesn't tell you where that hall is. At breakfast the next morning the chef hadn't turned in so there was no cooked breakfast, there were plenty of other items fruit, cereal, yogurt, toast. The rooms are spread over 3 floors only a lift between floors 1 and 2, there are a fair few stairs so people with mobility issues may struggle. Sort out these small items and make people aware of the stairs.

The Management Centre is a very practical option, offering decent value for money and a good breakfast. The 1884 restaurant serves a limited menu but is very good quality. Staff are friendly and helpful. You aren’t paying for ambience though, as it is rather functional. If arriving on foot, note that it is a steep climb from the bus station.

2nd stay Lovely clean room. Was cold on entering but easy to turn up radiator and room soon nice and warm. Was very quiet. Found the mattress too hard for my liking this time. Breakfast was lovely and fresh and hot, with a wide choice of cooked meats, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs, or bread, croissants, fruit and yoghurt and juices. Usually self serve, but few guests( wintry conditions) so orders taken instead. Spotless dining room and staff very friendly. See you again at Easter.

A mini Hogwarts!
This is a stunning looking building, with great views over the Menai Straits. The rooms were comfortable, and functional. We had a couple of issues with our room and they were fixed very quickly and with no fuss. The front desk staff were great and commendable. The breakfast was very nice, and plenty to choose from. The bar is hard to find, but again just asked the front desk and they pointed it out for me. In the summer I bet this has the best views for a drink. The bar is vey comfortable, and we were treated to a very large folk band on the Saturday night. The location is very ideally located for the town centre. There is a path which leads through the university buildings opposite down a lot steps (take a torch in the dark) which leads you to the town centre. About 15 mins max. All in all a good place to stay.

I use this location regularly as a base for an overnight stay. Premises is always spotless. Breakfast couldn’t be better and staff can’t do enough for you. A great place to stay as long as you don’t mind getting lost each time in the labyrinth of corridors. Can I suggest they get a map drawn up to assist in finding your room. Thanks again.

Great location in upper Bangor. Within easy walking distance to bus and train. A great central location and transport hub to visit Anglesey (Menai Bridge/Strait, Holyhead and Holyhead breakwater as well as Beaumaris and Penrhyn. Regular buses to Conwy as well. The University grounds were very nice with great views. Room clean, large and bed was comfortable.
