Everything was good. Like all the old furniture. Housekeeping keep our room clean every day. Staff was very friendly. Stayed on the 3rd floor was really hoping to see a ghost or have some kind of paranormal experience. That was the only disappointment

it is a historic hotel however the wallpaper was peeling off and bubbled up on one side, the paint was peeling off the ceiling. Shower head was so tall and wouldn't move so you could not wash your back due to closeness. no place to put your stuff in bathroom and when we opened the medicine cabinet we shut it immediately as it was so dirty..yuck.
Our TV did not work and we told them about it right away and the next day someone came up around 4pm (after I asked the front desk [who are so rude when you talk with them] three separate times about when they would send someone up) this guy said he didn't know how to fix it as it had something to do with the antenna??? so no TV the whole time. very disappointed in the rooms - the downstairs bar is excellent.
the roof top area is nice but they really need umbrellas as it is very sunny and hot without. we will not go back and told our friends to visit Marietta but go to another hotel.

This is a delightful, historic hotel. We had a twin room. It was very small but, quaint. Antique furnishings and beautiful wood carver headboards. I would have preferred a firmer bed. The lobby area is filled with antique furnishings. It’s also right on the same block as restaurants, shopping and the river runs right along the side. Loved the town of Marietta.

The place has a great location and legacy, but that is pretty much it.
It is super run down: needs a lot of renovations: everything looks very dated (I mean there are AC units in the windows and really scary carpet throughout!).
Most importantly, it has no black out curtains and there are gaps (like an inch) b/w the door and door frame, there is no sound insulation: it is super loud and impossible to get a good night's sleep. If you get crazy people next door, who are partying into the wee hours, you are doomed!

Very charming, historical, water front hotel with shopping and food within walking distance. The on-site restraunt and breakfast café were delicious. Loved seeing the history in pictures on the walls. If you're looking to step back in time and enjoy a slower pace this is the place and town. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back.

The Lafayette Hotel is in a historic building. The furniture and artwork is reminiscent of an establishment at the turn of the century. It was clean, relatively quiet, and had the amenities that I needed. Don't stay there if you want modern, new, and bright.
The staff was friendly and helpful. It's a great location to walk to the farmer's market, multiple establishments, and the College.

We loved the hotel. This was our second stay. I was a bit disappointed that they put a disabled person in a wheelchair in a tiny room with a tiny bath. Despite the fact that I reached out to them on that subject. We tried The Gun Room for breakfast and that was the worst breakfast I'd ever had. I ordered poached eggs because they had them on one of the brunch items, bacon, home fries and wheat toast. The toast never came, despite mentioning it a couple of times. The home fries tasted and looked like they had put them on a sheet pan in the oven. They were very dry and not good. Now, the eggs? HORRIBLE. When I hear of poached eggs, I think of runny eggs, so I didn't specify. They came out soft boiled. I sent them back and told them runny and the second time, they came out hard boiled. Didn't eat the eggs at all. The bacon wasn't even done and was all folded and mangled. Hubby's omelet was over done. Check it out in the photo. The manager did make it right, but I will never eat in their restaurants again.

The bed was comfortable, but the hallways and outdoors was noisy. The floor was squeaky, so we probably disturbed other guests walk in our room without shoes. Apparently it was prom night in town, and high school folks where loud outside until 2 AM, with yelling and loud motorcycles running up and down the street. We got little sleep.

The bar was great! The food was wonderful!!! Julie the bartender/server was great! Not only with suggestions but also on the history of the hotel and area.
Our room was amazing, we had the king suite with river view and it was beautiful! They've kept some period pieces making it even more unique,as well as an outstanding job of maintaining the history and decor for the period. I truly wanted to go to each of the MANY rooms they had just to see what they had done to each of them. Let alone go to each floor etc. If you love history and appreciate the work involved in keeping a place like this up you will not be disappointed.
The bed was so comfortable, sleeping was amazing (and we'd been to several hotels from ft myers beach to there), it was hands down the best and extremely reasonable... if you've never been there it's my opinion that it's a must see :)

This is an old hotel right on the Ohio River with river views from the lobby and lounge. The rooms were clean and bright with good amenities. A refrigerator would be a welcome addition but there wasn't a lot of space to add one in the room we stayed in.

The town was the launch point for settlers into the \"Great Northwest Territory\" so there is a lot of history here with riverboats as a central theme. The hotels is located close to everything in town including some good restaurants.

There was ample free parking a few steps from the door. Staff were friendly and helpful. The lounge had a good menu and service with limited wine list.

If you're planning a trip to explore the town and its history there is no better place to stay.

The check in staff was wonderful and so was the bartender. Our issue came from the bathroom. The toilet seat lid was dirty and the sink was right on your lap. My husband said even to stand you had to kind of scoot to get to the seat. The toilet also wouldn’t refill after flushing for like 20 minutes. Unfortunately that isn’t an exaggeration. When we told a new person at the check out they said they’d have someone check it out but didn’t even ask for our room number.
The room also had a heating and AC unit (understandable since it’s a very old hotel). It just was that it clanked a lot and was hard to regulate the room temperature. It also didn’t have curtains but blinds, so if you needed to sleep in, it wouldn’t block out any light.
Aside from that, the bed was comfy, and again, great check in staff and bartender. We had a stink bug in our salad and she took care of that problem.

I made a mistake and booked for thursday night not wednesday night front desk lady one just brushed me off and said we are full you dont have a reservation. so i went to the parking lot and booked a room online for that night went back in and she was not really happy. front desk lady number 2 called me later and told me why i was not booked for wednesday and apologized that I had not been helped better by first lady. Our conference people were upset that no space was set aside for vender tables. the electric went out during breakfast the waffles were cold and water and coffee were only drink options set out during the day

It was a beautiful property for its age and history (survived floods), the rooms were small but well appointed (ours had a quaint desk) and the bed was comfortable. Our only issue with the rooms was that the shower never got really hot, just warm. The breakfast was filling and cooked perfectly.
