Room at first lights worked in bathroom then started the ac to cool room and short time. Room had smell of burnt wires. No bathroom lights and few other lights out in room. Showered under phone flashlight. Left and came back later that day they fixed what ever issue. Door lock device looked like someone tried to break into room before. Nice view bed was comfortable and staff was plesant. Rooms we had were spacious.

Check-in as international tourists was painfully long. We stood at the counter for over 45mins after a long flight while the guy did whatever he had to do but gave us no indication of where he was at with it or why it was taking so long. They should have suggested we go sit down or something.

We stayed in Singapore for 1 night as a layover for 24 hours on our flight to Krabi Thailand. Even though the price can be high here, the hotel is very clean, modernized and has an excellent breakfast with a lot of variety and good food and drinks. Can’t beat the breakfast quality, excellent. Didn’t have much to complain about the hotel, except it being kind of far from the sights we wanted to see like the Marina bay sands hotel and bay gardens. Otherwise clean, comfortable, big rooms with big beds and restrooms. Excellent hotel. Didn’t stay long enough to see how friendly the staff were, but they seemed friendly and pleasant enough.

Room and facilities were generally quite good, but breakfast was hopeless. It was generally disorganised and poorly managed. The coffee situation (SLOW machines and long queues) was poor, but the kicker was the STUPID system of paying for breakfast each morning rather than booking it to your room (which you can do in EVERY other hotel I've stayed in). It made for a particularly embarrassing situation on our final morning when a waitress chased our family (at high volume) out of the restaurant, thinking we hadn't paid, when we had. So embarrassing and so avoidable... Thanks but no thanks.

Size of the room was really good, size of the washroom was quite good. Quiet neighborhood. Good blackout curtains.

The property is quite old though. It was evident in the rooms with old carpets and the washroom.

The hotel is high up on a hills so walking to and from transit is tiring.

York hotel is a bit older but the convenience of the location and the size of the rooms more than makes up for the tired fittings. With 2 entrances onto Mount Elizabeth and Scott Streets, it is a quick walk to Orchard and Newton train stations and to Orchard road for food and shopping. We had a family room that slept 4 and it was more than big enough for 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever slept on!

The hotel was a very convenient walk to Orchard Blvd, which allowed you access to buses and trains. The rooms were a comfortable size for our family of 4. It had a delicious buffet style breakfast with offered lots of options for tastes. The restaurant also opened for other dining as well.

This Hotel is fine, the breakfast is plentiful but also busy with guests. The pool is a nice feature to use in between sightseeing. The rooms are dated and could use an update. The location is alright. a 10 minute walk to Orchard Road, and an additional 7 mins to the closest MRT.
If you're on a budget this is a good option for families, but in the future I would look to stay slightly more central.

Competitive pricing, bigger rooms when compared with all other 4 star hotels within the same area. The hotel might be old but everything works thanks to the wonderful staff. My Wife and I ordered room service and the food arrived fast. Hotel check in was fast despite being busy, staff attending to check in were attentive and friendly, Sophie who handled our check in was extremely professional and helpful. My Wife and I will definitely return for another staycation.

York Hotel is immaculate! The quadruple room was spacious with a bathroom modern, great amenities, attentive staff, room service was 1st class. Walking distance to the fantastic shops yet far enough away

What I liked was that it was quiet, the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable. It was very close to shops and transport and the room service was fantastic.

The one thing I did not like was, behind the curtains was extremely dirty. If I had a toddler, I would have to have it cleaned before I let it loose in the room.

This hotel is 5-star quality to me and my family. First, the room is so big, it literally can accommodate 10 guests! Second, it is very clean. The housekeepers clean the room everyday without being told. They change the towels everyday and gives you new sets of toothbrushes everyday if they see that you used your toothbrush the day before. Front desks staff and bellboys are very helpful but doesn’t really smile. I think, it’s the culture of Singaporeans but we don’t mind. Third, it is near to lots of shopping centers like Paragon, where there’s lots of restaurants and luxury bags stores like LV, Gucci and Rolex store, too. We ride the taxi everyday and it’s not that expensive. Singapore is a small country you can finish the whole place in probably 2 days. We will stay in this hotel the next time we go to Singapore.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the York Hotel on our way to Europe.
The breakfast dining area was very large and the breakfast was delicious with lots of variety to choose from. The hotel staff were very nice and our room was cleaned extremely well. The location of the hotel is excellent with only a few minutes walk to the Paragon shopping centre which by walking through the centre will lead you right into the center of Orchard Road. Thank you to all the staff at the York hotel. We will be back on our way back from Europe.

Everything seems great except that I purposely stayed long there during the 1 week school holiday because I wanted to celebrate my only child birthday which fell on 1 of the day that I stayed there plus my own birthday that was few days back.

I compared to during CNY, my sister, my only child and myself stayed for 3 days next to York Hotel neighbour the Vibe Hotel.

My sister' birthday was 12 days back but when shr informed Vibe Hotel reception, once we entered our room during checking in, the TV screen surprisingly showed my sister's name with birthday greetings.

One of the Vibe Hotel staff also came knocking at the door and gave my sister a cute mug in a box as her belated birthday gift.

However when I told York Hotel reception about my only child birthday on that day and my own belated birthday, the York Hotel Reception said the hotel did not do as their neighbour Vibe Hotel did on birthday date stays.

Next when I called using the hotel room phone for two consecutive days to request for extra pillows because the pillows were too soft and also a blanket because we could not adjust the air con and felt very cold, the same Indian lady answering the phone answered the hotel not able to provide that request because the hotel was fully book.

6 days during our daily breakfast, the Chinese waitress ladies wearing black T shirt printed the word Penang only greeted loudly \"Good morning\" to tourists especially Caucasians but never at all to my family Singaporean.

Overall, the service of the front desk check-in counter (especially that Male Staff) was super poor —- This Male Staff was rude, impolite and arrogant.
As for the breakfast area, everyone could tell that this area seriously lack of systematic work arrangement and staff there were obviously not in good mood working condition.

This was the only hotel that I could find with a room that accommodates 4 (1 King 2 doubles/singles). The room itself was huge and well-maintained, but the bathroom is a bit dated. The bathtub, in particular, was showing its age, with rust stains at the drain.

The hotel itself is isolated at the top of a hill, about 5-10 minutes walk from the nearest MRT. It is both good and bad: you got to walk a bit, but it is isolated from all the noise from the surrounding (and busy) shopping district.

The swimming pool was nice. I would give it a 5-stars rating all around if it wasn't for the rust in the bathtub.

Chewing gum sticking on the bed

We’ve been a frequent visitor of york hotel. It’s value for money for stay in Singapore with great location. But my recent stay there was a bit dissapointing in terms of cleanliness. There was a chewing gum sticking on the head of our bed. Hope the cleaning service can so a better job in the future. Tks.
