I really recommend this hotel to anyone who is combining a stay in Paris with a visit the North or France or the Alsace region. You are smack Dab next to Gare de l'est and a 10 minute walk to Gare du Nord. While I did not have breakfast at the hotel, I had coffee twice and a croissant. It's good and priced accordingly to the area. Everyone is nice and helpful.

As for the rooms, yoi can see they did wonders of renovation in a very old building. Shower is not too small as in similar hotels and the bed is extremely comfortable. Room temperature was just right. Overall, a great hotel.

There was a smell of sewer gas coming from the drain in the shower. Hot water was in short supply. After a few minutes in the shower, the water temperature dropped to cold. Excellent location for access to public transportation: trains, metro, RER, busses.

This property is perfectly nestled next to the Gare de l’Est. Situated on a corner overlooking the station, it is a quiet, clean hotel, with pops of color and homages to great artists, thinkers, and musicians. The hotel offers a wonderful assortment of foods for breakfast and the staff are all very kind. It was a wonderful stay and I definitely plan to return when the next opportunity to visit Paris arises.

Lovely 3 day stay here. Such a cute hidden gem in Paris and so welcoming. Very comfy beds & fabulous bed linen/decor.
Staff so lovely and helpful also. Plenty of Ubers to get around but half an hour walk to most areas. We spent our last day in Montmartre and le Marais area and loved it.

I was looking for a hotel between Gare de Nord and Gare de l'Est for our short stay in Paris and I liked the vibes this place gave off with the colorful room styles.

The room was small/cozy, but the bed was comfortable and after a full day of walking around the city I fell asleep easily. I liked the quirky color palette of the bathroom, and there were robes and sandals available for our use (we didn't use).

We didn't purchase breakfast so I can't offer an opinion regarding that.

I booked this hotel because I loved the decor and the design of the bedrooms. That aspect didn’t disappoint. However, our room has was tiny - there was a rack to open a suitcase on but nowhere in the room to fit an open suitcase. The bed was a great size but you couldn’t lie near the edge of the bed without sliding off.

The location is great for the Gare du Nord but the area around the hotel is dirty, smelly and feels unsafe.

The location of Hotel Les Deux Gares worked well for us since we were coming and going from Gare du Nord and had very easy access to the metro at the very close Gare d'Est station. However, we did have some problems with our stay. I paid extra for a premium room that was supposed to have extra space, a King bed, city view and balcony. Unfortunately, the room we were first given did not have any of these things. After one night in the standard room, I asked the older gentlemen who worked the desk if there were any other rooms and he accommodated us with a much better room (which is what we had paid for). However, we still had issues trying to sleep as we could not adequately cool down the room. I don't think the AC worked at all.

Nice, yet it has lost its charm

I’ve stayed in this hotel in past years and I’m sorry to say it has lost its vibe. There used to be soft cool music in the sitting room by the reception. They got rid of a lovely lamp and armchair to add some extra tables for breakfast; yet we never saw anyone having breakfast in 4 days. The tables are now too many, cramped, untidy and uninviting. The table where the breakfast food goes was always undressed. They seemed to be understaffed. We had to ask for toiletries a few times and they were not replaced/refilled. They have switched to refillable body wash and shampoo, which is really commendable. I hope they do the same for hair conditioner and hand soap.
The receptionists were nice and helpful as usual.

Inside the hotel was pleasant. The bed was comfortable, water pressure and bathrooms were nice. Aesthetic is really the selling point of the rooms.

Things I didn’t like:
Ac would reset after 4-5 hours. I came during a heat wave and would wake up sweating

The area itself is fine during the day. At night past 23:00 it didn’t feel very safe. Even my uber driver was like bro why are you here.

Other pros:
Very close to the train stations.
Easy walk to the center of town

Overall, would only stay here for a night or two if I was going to use the train soon.

The elevator is tiny and our room was tiny, no place to open up our suitcases except on the bed. We needed to keep them closed and standing vertical when not in use. BUT the location was great, right in between the Gare du Nord and the Gare de L’est, so it was easy to catch trains and subways for in city and out of city locations. Hotel was old, but clean and service was very good. Many restaurants and shops in easy walking distance.

Misses the mark slightly

We’re big fans of Luke Edward Hall which is how this hotel was on our radar to stay at on our most recent visit to Paris. It’s a little more tired looking than the photos on Instagram suggest. We were put in an attic room which meant the side of the bed on the sloped ceiling side required considerable contortion to access. There was a peculiar and unpleasant smell in the room, mainly the bathroom which I guess was drainage/sewage related. Housekeeping didn’t come to our room during the day to do the bed etc which we’d expected as it’s quite standard for this level of hotel. Upon investigating we found that the Do Not Disturb sign actually has a reverse message requesting the room be done but we figured that out too late and unfortunately we were not made aware of this at check-in. On the plus side, the location is very convenient for Eurostar and the toiletries are Dyptique.

The room was really quite small, even considering the good location. Good location means convenient location, not that the area is that great. Apparently my room was near the roof so for half of my room I cannot stand up.

We stayed for two nights. They provided complimentary water on the first night but when they made up the room the second day, they did not refill the water even though we had consumed all the water on our first day. We found a housekeeper right outside our door and asked for a refill of water and she asked us to use the two small bottles of water water from the minibar (which would be charged of course).
We used the two waters and left for the day and returned at 12am for our second night. We realized we didn’t have any drinking water in the room and called reception asking for water. They replied that housekeeping and the bar closed at 11pm. I asked whether that meant we couldnt get water and they replied yet.
I am unsure how this is acceptable that they couldnt provide us with water. We’ve travelled to over 20 countries and stayed in countless hotels and have never faced such crisis over drinking water.

Beautifully decorated property. The only issue I had was with the half glass shower door as water would leak out into the bathroom floor (although this is pretty standard across Europe). The heating was also not strong enough at times. Besides that, the staff was lovely and I love the Parisian art deco vibe of the place. Also, their restaurant across served me one of the best meals I've had in Paris.

Very cute, trendy hotel but the photos online are a bit misleading as to its condition. There was mold on the wall above the shower/by the ceiling, maybe because there was no bathroom fan. The rooms were clean overall but there were many scuff marks on the walls and chipped paint that could be easily fixed. It was definitely more run down looking than the beautiful photos would suggest. Also, the standard room is much smaller than photos would depict. We asked to be moved to another, slightly larger room due to its condition and were for an extra €45/night. I think it should have been free given the condition of the room. Anyway, lots to like about it as well! Very cute decor, beautiful bathroom (despite the mold) and very convenient location, right next to the metro. I would still recommend this hotel. One more thing to know, is that if you want an extra pillow or blanket, you are not able to do so after 4:30 pm. They say housekeeping is closed after that time. But realistically… surely the one person working at the front desk could access a clean blanket and bring it to the room. But we were told it wasn't possible. Not sure why they wouldn’t have extras on hand? I would rate this hotel a 6 out of 10.

Our initial reason for booking Hotel Les Deux Gares was purely aesthetic, the photos we viewed online perfectly fit our romantic image of a chic, turn of the century Parisian hotel, and although it more than lived up to that image in the flesh, the biggest impression that wemre left with as we depart is not one of aesthetics but of warm welcome and exemplary customer service. A fantastic hotel, in a great location, staffed by good people. The only problem we encountered during our stay was an issue with shower, which was swiftly rectified.

Walking distance to train stations

The location between Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est made both train stations walkable for us, which was perfect. The area itself isn’t the most beautiful (areas near train stations rarely are!) and we were mindful to keep our wits about us around the station area. But the hotel itself was very nice.

The rooms are small but fine for single travellers, very pretty decorated bathrooms, and comfy beds. The Receptionists were friendly and were happy to tolerate our awful French! There are a few nice coffee shops within walking distance, if you don’t choose the breakfast package.

The property was quirky, which is interesting and thought has been put into it. The bathroom was very clean and the most spacious we have had in Paris (this is not a high bar sadly). The whole hotel is very very dark and eerily quiet (we were staying during the Olympics). Our room was so dark that we had to open the door (during daytime) to locate the light switch as we couldn’t see. The place has an unfortunate Hitchcock vibe - from the staff who don’t acknowledge you (made us wonder if they could see us) and the lift that you fear may have an unfortunate destination at the top. The downstairs area has potential but again was eerily quiet. The snacks in the room are extortionate which one would expect but entirely undesirable. The area is bustling at best; I would never choose it again and I would actively encourage any lone travellers, female travellers and families to avoid if at all possible. It felt unsafe as night fell and we rushed to get back to the dark dark room. It’s such a shame that the location is so poor as there isn’t much they can do about that. I definitely wouldn’t stay again I’m afraid and it’s such a shame that the staff can’t say hello as they are helpful once they looked away from his computer. It has Wes Anderson inspiration so if you are into that I think you may like it. It was clean - and that is a huge plus - the room and toilet were clean and looked after. Would be good for a flying visit next to station.

Great size of the room, comfortable bed and great facilities in the bathroom. Loved the colour scheme through out the hotel.

Second time staying. This is a joy of a hotel. Beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Rooms are small but have everything you need (kettle, Nespresso, robes etc) and want (Diptique toiletries). Staff are fantastic. An easy walk from Gare Du Nord and Gare De L’est. the Cafe Les Deux Gare is also fantastic and well worth a visit.

Nice hotel with friendly staffs

The hotel located neat Gare du Nord, about 5 mins walk. Though the room is small, but it is clean and nice. The air conditioning is excellent and works very well, Paris is getting hot, with the air conditioning we had a very good sleep. The staffs are nice and friendly, even the cleaning lady.
The check out time is 12noon, which a bit surprise me, as most of the hotel check out time is 11am.

We stayed for two nights in a superior double room. The size was just right for two people - the bed was comfortable, the room was very clean and quiet, the decor was fun and the addition of diptyque bathroom products was lovely.

A number of people have commented on the safety of the area around the hotel. We ate out each night we stayed and felt safe walking back to the hotel after dark, though were sure to stay aware of our surroundings.

A Wes Anderson delight

The Hotel Deux Gares is a fantastic small property walking distance from Gare Du Nord and Gare L’est. it’s has a Wes Anderson style with immaculate rooms curated from bold green walls and pastel blue toilets. This hotel was ver misrepresented online. The area seemed unsafe. It was just me, a mom, and my young son. . When we first arrived, I asked the receptionist yes, there was another hotel entrance one we entered, seemed like it was in a very sketchy area, and he told me not to worry because they have someone there 24 hours a day which suggested to me that they knew it was not safe. There was a concert DIRECTLY outside our window that sounded like it was INSIDE our room. It was represented as a family friendly hotel online with a friendly staff, accessible snacks and drinks, etc. . We had little to no supplies in our room. No water. We were told we had a full mini fridge and had 2 beers and a coke. I went downstairs and asked reception to buy a water and he argued with me and told me I had a full bar despite my telling him otherwise. I asked if I could buy some water and he angrily said no and go to my room and look again. We felt too unsafe to leave the room. We had an international flight the next day and music was blaring until 11. I asked to move to another room and was told no. At 11, I went down and told them I was checking out and going to another hotel and they refused to refund me and told me I actually owed THEM $5. I said I was not paying anything else and the reception guy tried to lock me in the hotel by locking the main door which they apparently operate after a certain time at night. I insisted he let me out as I had another hotel booked and an Uber outside.

A beautiful renovation ruined by very poor maintenance. Our room had an overwhelming smell of mould, damp and cleaning products. There was visible water damage and bubbling paint work. Fortunately we could open the window to air out the smell.

Convenient locations for the stations but not much else. You wouldn't like Paris if you spent your whole time here.

The TV has a streaming connection box but it doesn't work and the receptionist didn't even know what I was talking about.

Bed was comfortable and everything was clean.

A busy location with lost of passers by but a brilliant location for getting around Paris (located between Gare du Nord and Gare du L'est).

Rooms are beautiful and very comfortable.

Staff were polite and helpful.

The hotel offers everything you need for your stay in Paris, a comfortable, clean place to stay with beautiful decor, polite, cheerful and very helpful staff that make you feel welcome and the hotel is placed a short walk from the two main train stations in Paris making getting about a breeze.

Not worth the 'Instagrammable' hype ⏤ save your money, which we wasted (during our honeymoon at that). We were pulled in by the website photos and that Luke Edward Hall designed the rooms, but the reality is far from chic. Quite surprising he'd lend his name to a forgettable hotel.

The property is located near two train stations, so there's a lot of transient people and neighborhood bustle. There was minimal staff present and the hotel energy felt a bit off; creepy and quiet.

The elevator is teeny tiny and sounds and feels like it's on its way out, so we chose to use the stairs except upon arrival and departure with our luggage. The hallways are extremely narrow with dim lighting.

Room quality is poor with marks on the walls, a stale and musty smell and zero soundproofing between rooms. Anytime our neighbor left the room we could hear the door open and shut and when water was turned on we could hear it running.

Staying at this hotel was such a bad experience, we booked another hotel (Kimpton St Honoré) within four hours of checking in. Although we paid for five nights and weren't going to get a refund, it wasn't worth trying to 'tough' it out. We mentioned to the front desk how our allergies started bothering us shortly after our arrival and we were told it wasn't the hotel's fault. Interesting given our allergies weren't a problem at any other point during our two-week trip, which included two countries and five hotels. Do not stay at this hotel or in the neighborhood
