A perfect stop whilst driving through France
My fiancee and I had to drive from Dieppe to Toulon (650+ miles) with a load of cargo for our wedding, and we planned an overnight stop to break up the driving. We booked the Campanile in Auxerre based on generally positive reviews and its proximity to the A6, and we could not have been happier with our stay.
Positives:
- Friendly, helpful staff at check-in
- Spotlessly clean room
- good en-suite wet room
- climate control in the room worked very well
- excellent motorised blackout shutter for the main window
- enough space to move around without kicking the bed
- nice, firm mattress
- loads of free parking in view of the room
- good restaurant
Negatives
- none.
Ok it's not a five-star luxury retreat with a spa and poolside cocktail bar, but it isn't trying or pretending to be, nor does it aim for that type of customer. It is a very, very good roadside hotel with real thought put into making the rooms comfortable for taking a break from a long drive. If you like a soft bed then you might need to ask in advance and there was no bath in our ensuite (just a shower) but we didn't ask for, or expect a bath so no complaints here.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying here again. The food in the restaurant was tasty and filling, and reasonably priced. The climate control in the room allowed us to keep the temperature down - often a problem in French hotels, but not at the Campanile. We asked for a room on the ground floor and this request was fulfilled. Perfect.

Terrible, no security measure at night
We did not expect to stay in a \"campsite\" while this is rated as a 3 star \"hotel\"... The reception is closed at night. And there is no night guard in this very outskirt of the city. We have to choice but calling the police when we saw someone was suspicious in the corridor. However, the police cannot do anything only because of threats...
Anyway, do not choose this \"hotel\" if you are not all strong and brave men.
If the security and reception can be enhanced, it will be a very acceptable hotel with clean room and a pleasant breakfast room and restaurant.

Booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children but not really big enough and they didn't know anything about the children on the booking from expedia. Otherwise fine for purpose (overnight stop travelling back to UK from Italy). Not a cheap restaurant so MacDonalds nearby was useful.

La première chambre attribuée n'a pas été faite ! Draps froissés, télécommande laissée en vrac sur un lit, oreiller manquant, serviettes en boules dans la salle de bain et les toilettes n'étaient pas propres. J'étais en colère. J'ai pris des photos et je me suis rendue une nouvelle fois à l'accueil afin qu'une autre chambre nous soit donnée. Vraiment très déçue de cet hôtel Campanile, que j'ai préféré à un formule 1 ou 1ère Classe me disant que le confort et la propreté seraient mieux. Et bien non. La deuxième chambre était plus propre heureusement, mais la première a laissé un goût amer.

Il y a une dizaine d'années,je travaillais sur l'Auxerrois et j'ai fréquenté très souvent cet établissement tant en hébergement qu'en restauration et j'en garde un excellent souvenir. Et là j'ai été un peu déçu. Tout a été tiré vers le bas. C'est dommage d'autant que l'offre concurrente était bien moins importante.

Bonjour, des la première soirée vers 23h d'autres occupants sont rentrés en faisant un bruits terrible. Des enfants qui courraient partout (au dessus de nous et sur le même palier)
Des 6h du matin rebelotte avec un joyeux anniversaire en prime, mais quand j'ai entendu une adulte criée fort des consignes a ceux qui étaient sur le parking je suis sorti sur le palier et j'ai demandé a cette personne de bien vouloir respecté les autres occupants ( cette personne était notre voisine de palier)
J'ai donc appelé la réception qui était désolé et nous a offert le petit déjeuné.
Si j'ai un conseil a vous donner, rappelez que le voisinage doit être respecté par un rappel lors de la prise de la carte de chambre svp.
Perso on voulait partir pour la deuxième nuit ailleurs mais l'hôtesse nous a certifié que l'hôtel était quasi vide cette nuit là et que la veille c'était en effet complet a cause d'une compétition twirling.
On ne peut pas dire être totalement satisfait de notre passage dans votre établissement désolé

Honteux!! Pas digne d'un campanile ou en tout cas pas digne d un 2/3 étoiles. Ultra vieillot voire vétuste. Pas de chauffage. Bref ça vaut un formule 1 délabré. Le personnel est au courant mais ne peut rien faire.

Chambre classique ; hélas l'occupant précédent avait fumé dans la chambre, odeur désagréable,; heureusement après l'avoir signalé, la gérante a fait le nécessaire avec une bombe d'azote je crois.
Je pense que cette personne, facilement retrouvable, devrait être pénalisé et avoir à payer.

Très bon accueil, je prends ma carte pour entrée dans la chambre, je rentre et la,moquette tres vieille et sale, des traces de moisissure à plusieurs endroits, beaucoup de poussière, toiles d'araignées (avec l'araignée d'ailleurs) un petit chevet tout abîmée et poussiéreux ,encore de l'eau dans la bouilloire.
Je suis tres déçu, j'ai voulue prendre campanile en me disant que c'était une catégorie au dessus et au final j'ai payé plus chère pour avoir pire.
