The hotel is ok. How helpful the staff is will depend on who you get behind the counter- two of the girls were helpful, one girl didn’t know anything to any questions asked of her.

The room was fine and clean but hair dryer in my room was broken, and also no shower gel (had to ask front desk to fill it up for me) and like one pump of hand soap left- why isn’t this automatically refilled when housekeeping comes?

We enjoyed our stay at Le Maxime. The hotel was easy to find, the staff was welcoming and pleasant to chat with.

The path along the River, just across the street, is excellent for running walking and biking.

We would definitely return to this property.

Overall we had a lovely stay here but guests should know that the “river view” is blocked by trees in the summer, so it’s not worth paying extra for that! Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable. Room was a bit dark and needs new carpet. Close to old town and an easy walk from the train station so it was a good location for us. Enjoyed many walks along the river.

Great location opposite the river. On site parking at €13.50 but well worth the cost. Staff were very friendly and polite. Room was good although no internet available. Walkable to all sites. Breakfast was plentiful and great variety. Well worth a visit.

Comfort in the heart of Auxerre

This is a well - located hotel on the river in Auxerrre a few minutes from the old town. Comfortable rather than elegant with very friendly and welcoming staff. The excellent breakfast deserves a special mention.

My car was damaged by the automatic gate in their car park and despite saying they would pay for the damage my emails have been ignored. Very disappointing behaviour.
Hotel itself is in a good location on the river but our room was at the back with a view of a wall. Also, very hot in the room.

A really pleasant hotel. Great location right on the river and very easy to walk around the town. The hotel itself has a little parking and has a small bar and reception area. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Housekeeping needs a little attention as we had no toilet paper in our room , nor a remote for the TV, but it didn't really bother us as there were ample tissues and we didn't want to watch Television anyway. But it is the little things that count and it doesn't take much to do a final check before guests arrive. The beds are extremely comfortable. Minibar well stocked , although we were only given 1 bottle of complimentary water between us. Only 1 black coffee sachet (we both drink black coffee so no choice but to go out and get our own coffee!) and 1 milky coffee sachet. I sort of had a feeling they had stocked it for a single guest rather than a couple - but I could be wrong. The town itself is amazing. Well worth a good wander around. We arrived on a Monday and as the hotel does not have a restaurant of its own, there wasn't much choice of local restaurants that were open. It might be worth investigating restaurants before you arrive, because the establishment we eventually settled on was totally appalling ! It has been a long time since we have not been able to actually eat the meal offered! Especially in France! HA! It did give us a giggle. Overall, I would stay here again as the location is so good and the rooms are very comfortable.

Excellent location overlooking the river near the beautiful old part of town, Auxerre is lovely and well worth a visit. Room was OK though a little on the small side. Hotel seems to be undergoing some renovations and it is a bit tired so could do with some updating in places. No restaurant available though it clearly has offered meals at one time, This is not a problem as there are plenty of restaurants close by, Breakfast was fine though rather expensive as is generally the case in France. Staff very friendly and helpful,
Would recommend mainly on account of location.

Loved the service. Thank heavens for the lift (ascenseur). Our room was a little small but we got by. Loved having a lounge/bar for sitting and working/chatting in. Excellent service form the staff. Room numbering is a little unusual and was hard to find our room at first. Parking is limited but if you're prepared to leave you cars with the front desk then no problem. Breakfast staff were inconsistent with service. On 3 out of 4 days the egg cooker didn't even have enough water to cover the eggs. One day noone bothered to turn it on.Small things can make a difference to the experience!!! Great location on the river quai! Le Bounty is a reliable little restaurant about 100 metres down the street.

Excellent little hotel, nicely located

Le Maxime is a beautiful little hotel right on the waterfront on the left bank (old town side) of Auxerre. It is away from the touristy crush of the main part of the old town, but just a few steps away (if you don't mind a steep walk up the hill).

Outside, a classic building. Inside, very modern. There are two sizes of room. We got one of the small ones because that was all that was left--adequate but you might want one of the large rooms for a longer stay. Super modern bathroom, comfortable beds, TV, free very fast Wi-Fi, all you need.

We recommend a room on the back side. Very quiet--the street side would have some traffic noise.

Auxerre hotel Le Maxime

Hotel Le Maxime is in a great location with many very good restaurants close by.
We only stayed for 2 nights but wished it could've been longer, a tip for anyone wanting to see the town purchase the \"Cadet Rouselle\"trail guide from the tourist info (€1.50) it's a 5km route that can be walked following a series of small plaques in the path with larger numbered plaques that co-relate to the numbers in the guide which tells the story.

Great for a short break or an overnight stop.

Shoreline full of character in a perfect location in a beautiful town. Do not expect the clinical nature of an Accor hotel but the rooms are comfortable and the staff helpful. Breakfast good and many great places to eat in the town. Small garage at the back of the hotel but cars are double parked. Plenty of public parking just outside and town feels very safe.

Nous étions en voyage et avons enchaîné plusieurs hôtels 4 étoiles lors de notre périple et avons pu comparer…
Concernant la chambre, la vue sur le fleuve est avant tout sur une route, que la chambre que nous avions avait une moquette usée jusqu’à la corde me paraît très limite pour un 4*
Concernant l’accueil et le petit déjeuner, rien à redire, un personnel très sympathique et professionnel.
L’hôtel est proche de tout, il lui manque juste un petit rafraîchissement.

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel situé au bord d'une rivière, en plein centre historique d'Auxerre. Tout était parfait, sauf le bruit provenant d'une péniche transformée en boîte de nuit à 200 mètres de l'hôtel. La musique était très forte jusqu'à minuit ce jeudi soir. Le personnel de l'hôtel est désespéré face à ce voisinage bruyant. Nous avons dû appeler les gendarmes, qui ont fait leur travail, merci à eux. À part cela, l'hôtel est très charmant et le personnel est accueillant.

De nægter at tænde for varmen

Detter var mit 4. og sidste ophold hos Maxime. Vi er kommet 3 gange før i uge 1 eller 2 af året, hver gang har vi hygget os meget. Men denne gang måtte vi tage afsted efter kun 1 overnatning.
Der er ALT for koldt og deres varme er der ikke tændt for, det første værelse var koldt og fugtigt, det næste var måske 16 grader. Radiatoren stod på max i 4 timer, uden at blive varm. Det er tydeligt at de har reguleret trykket fra centralt sted, så der ikke kan komme varme nok på. Receptionisten mente: \"der skal nok komme varme\" -men det gjorde der ikke. En anden anmeldelse fra oktober 2024 klagede ligedes over manglende varme, 3 måneder efter er der stadig koldt.
Jeg sov i min strikkede sweater.
Et forhenværende fremragende hotel, i en by jeg elsker, har valgt spare gæsterne væk.
Jeg kommer gerne igen, hvis de fikser varmen, derfor de 2 stjerner.

Il ets dommage que la chambre \"supérieure\" avec vue sur le fleuve soit facturée plus chère, puisqu'elle donne aussi directement sur la route qui sépare l'hotel du fleuve et qui est très passante ...
Si j'avais su j'aurais privilégié le calme à la vue sur fleuve

Déçu, une chambre ou rien ne fonctionnait et surtout assez dégradé. Pour finir une odeur dans celle ci de la limite de raisonnable, odeur de tabac et cigare. Malgré une super équipe, il ne trouve aucune solution pour changer la chambre, franchement un prix trop élevé et ne mérite pas pour un 4 étoiles !

Sehr zuvorkommendes, sehr freundliches und grosszügiges Personal
Sauberes Zimmer und sehr gutes Bett.
Das Frühstück war vielseitig und wir haben es sehr genossen.
Die Empfehlung des Concierge bezüglich der Lokalität zum Nachtessen war hervorragend.

Das Hotel liegt am Flussufer, unmittelbar an der Uferstrasse. Die Anzahl der Parkplätze für PKW auf dem engen Hotel Hof ist begrenzt und führt zu Stress. Restaurants sind in der Umgebung vorhanden. Kurze Wege in die Innenstadt sind der Vorteil dieses Hotels, ebenso das gute Frühstück. Während unseres Aufenthalts ist das Schließsystem der Zimmertueren für ausgefallen. Das Personal ist freundlich, der Zimmerservice bemüht.

Our room was a little tiny, part of the wooden roof was oblique until the floor level, and the minibar/kettle were under a beam, not so easy to reach.
I found the bathtub quite slippery and dangerous, it is not really adapted to be a shower. Average breakfast. There are two parking spots, one is right behind the reception, the other one is footsteps away, however still in walking distance and not in the hotel.
Great plus are the restaurants nearby on the same street, and the nice view/walk by the river.
