Positives, it is right on Main street, great location. Room was clean but small…. No elevator so be prepared to haul up luggage possibly 4 floors. No on site staff other than cleaning staff, just a phone to call for any needs.

The room (3) was clean albeit small, but it was warm, had a balcony and was great for the night. The sound from above was noticeable, no acoustic insulation was evident. The maintenance wasn't great, the basin was cracked but these are minor issues, noise from outside was heard around 02:00 but this is due to the excelled location of the hotel, it's perfect for the town nightlife.
I'd stay there again, self check-in was easy, there was nobody around, check out was just as easy...

The room is very clean and staff is very friendly. The hotel has no elevator and the stairs are quite steep. Large luggage can be a challenge. Breakfast is wonderful and fresh. Overall, the hotel is wonderful for traveler on a budget.

There’s a reason why this is the cheapest option in a central location - the condition of the hotel is poor, rooms small and practically no frills. Expedia advertised a ski and boot storage room but no such thing exists - instead there are a few open racks for skis just off the Main Street so didn’t feel a safe option. That said the hotel has no problem with guests taking skis and boots into the bedrooms.
For all that, the breakfast was pretty decent, the staff friendly and the rooms warm so if you’re just looking for somewhere to get your head down for the night then it’s not an awful option

The room was fine, it was the access that was difficult, the stairs were steep, we had to access at least 4 floor levels.

The access, the room was small and the bathroom requires a privacy curtain on the window, the room radiator had no control with poor water circulation only heating the top 10% of the radiator.

The key for my room was just hanging up in the unlocked reception, and the phone number didn't work. For what i paid, this hotel felt overpriced as it was charmless and basic. The bed I'll admit was comfortable and there was a bath but, yeah not great. Would look for alternatives next time

We had room 14 and would have had view on the Matterhorn if conditions would have been better. Room confortable for three nights and very central. Very good value for money in Zermatt. Fernanda is a very nice person. Good breakfast. Only negative point for me, as a tall person, was the height of the ceiling in the shower.

First, we couldn’t find the entrance to the hotel (I had to ask a very annoyed shop owner at the street…she was complaining about having to do this all the time). No one was there to meet us for checkin, there are no elevators, nor was anyone to help us bring our large heavy luggage up 4 flights of stairs in a very narrow stairwell. The bumping music from the bars kept us up all night, and the majority of the lightbulbs in the unit were out…don’t waist your time!

The hotel is in the main street of Zermatt, and it’s just a 6-minute walk from the train station. It’s above a restaurant on a busy street, so it’s a bit noisy at night. It was manageable and I did manage to sleep. So it was okay.

Although the property was older, this just added to the charm for us. We could view the Matterhorn from our bedroom window and this hotel was in the best location of the whole of Zermatt.
There is no lift, so alot of stairs with heavy cases. But we were aware and didnt mind the extra fitness.
Breakfast was included and much appreciated.
Would definately stay again.

The WiFi was unusable - too slow, no connection, or poor connection. Many stairs to room on top floor with no elevator. Hotel located near church with constant church bells ringing and noise from downtown - being earplugs. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Poor lighting in room. Standard, basic European breakfast.

In a place like Zermatt, can’t believe this place exists. The hotel locks the doors all day and puts your key on a ring for anyone like a hostel. When I got into room (which was a journey up 4 flights of stairs with multiple bags, I found a place like a college dorm with no sheets or pillow cases, no refridg, no phone, no one in office and not even a closure on shower.

I liked the balcony and view of square from there. Problems are it's right next to bust main street, so noise is issue. More that that my problem was the cigarette smoke from the bar downstairs which has outdoor nice seating. This place is in middle of hustle bustle but you have to pay price for it. I liked it. Next time I will choose some quieter place.

We had a room at the front of the building and it was AMAZING!! Yes, we had to lug a suitcase each up the narrow stairs, but once up there and the view is seen, all is forgiven!!
I made my family sleep with the doors open for the fresh air, and so I could hear the music and sounds of town as I drifted off to sleep. Then waking up to the sun rising over the mountains, birds chirping.... It was perfect!!
Breakfast was the cherry on top!! Besides the very easy walk from the station, hehe!
Definitely recommend this place if you have the physical ability to carry suitcases up stairs :)

Wifi didnt work. The rooms windows all faced cafes or other smoking areas so a non-smoking room was a joke. The included breakfast was a good choice. We felt like we were in a basement. Also the room cist more than a decent room in Paris. Cant recommend.

A 8 min de la estación del tren, de McDonald's, restaurantes y supermercados Migro y Coop. Exactamente lo necesario para dormir y bañarase. Justo en la calle principal. No tiene aire, el balcón se comparte con otras habitaciones y hay que dejar las puertas al balcón abiertas para la ventilación. Baño pequeño. Desayuno sencillo pero funcional. No tiene ascensor, es auto check in. Solo estuve 1 noche. Me volveria a quedar.

The room, bath room, beds and space were all fine-----but they were on the 5th floor with no elevator. Climbing with luggage was a challenge.
Finding the hotel was not straightforward. More signage would be helpful. The neighbor businesses were annoyed that we were asking for help to find the entrance.

Wouldn’t stay here if I’d known. Unexpected steep climb up 4 flights. Right next to migraine inducing bells that rang every 15 mins from 6am to 10:30 pm, and 15 mins unending w mult bells prior to mass. They were deafening n ear splitting w major tinnitus and migraine afterwards. The room and bathroom were TINY! Hard to move around or breath.

Dreadful hotel (but not realy a hotel, just a bunch of tiny ensuite rooms. No staff, no reception.
Worst was the quilts on bed were damp, one was so damp we through it in the corner, the other was barely dry on one side to we placed it across both beds and coverd feet with towels (was damp and short!).
Tea and coffee making was a taunt, yes there were cups and kettle, but nowhere to plug in the kettle! And no milk so useless.
Room was on 4th floor (above street level), they called it 3rd. We had planned to leave our two heavy cases at reception, but no reception so had to lug all three up 4 floors of barely wide enough stairs. And then lug them down again.
So disgusted we abondoned our second night, returned key to where I collected (hook on wall), and left Zermatt never to return. Never saw a staff member

Difficult to find. It is in an alleyway beside a bakery, almost opposite Grand Hotel Zermatthof and at right angles to the Hotel Post. Up at least 3 flights of old stairs in an old chalet. The key was waiting for me.

Once there, it is comfortable, even a kettle and easy chair provided. There is a balcony overlooking the main street. The furnishings, lighting and equipment are good. Everything as clean. The only thing missing was a plug for the basin - perhaps this was an accident?

This 2star room is in a perfect location. We had large bags and it was only a 5 minute walk to the Hotel from the train station. Check in was \" our key\" on a board with our name listed in the entrance. Worked for us. We were fortunate to have a room on the first floor which involved some stairs. Would not of liked to drag our large suitcases up to the upper floors. Stairway very narrow. Washroom small but totally recently upgraded. Good water pressure, comfortable beds but do need to upgrade pillows. The continental breakfast was great. Very nice restaurant which is bellow the rooms. Once you exit the hotel you are on the main street in the heart of the area.

The location is very convenient but it is also above a bar which must stay open until 5am on weekends (not sure about during the week). Makes it a bit hard to sleep with the noise. Also note it is up a couple of flights of stairs with no elevator. There is no front desk, they just leave a key on a peg board for you. This is basically a worn out budget hotel. The bed was actually comfortable. Internet was a bit spotty. Overall if you can afford another hotel I would suggest not staying here, but if you plan to party all night this is a perfect choice.

I was traveling with my sister. We are aged 71 & 72. The hotel had no lift. We climbed 7 flights o very narrow stairs. We each had 2 suitcases. The room had heat only in the bathroom. Only one light in the bathroom. There was NO water in the bathtub and shower. We had 3 days of bathing in the sink. The plugs for charging phones etc were up by the ceiling. There was one blanket for 2 people. TV did not work. No refrigerator. We set bottled drinks on the outside windowsill to keep them cool. The church tower was outside the room, beautiful, however the bells rang every 15 minutes. The absolute worst was not having a lift. I would rate the experience as a zero star but zero star is not an option!!!!!

The Hotel Helvetia was perfect for my short stay in Zermatt. I had read many of the previous reviews so I was prepared. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the train station, there is no elevator and my room was quite small but had a balcony overlooking the street filled with people. The hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants. This hotel was quite reasonably priced and in a great location.

I guess the hotel was okay for the price. The challenge was going up the stairs with our heavy luggage. The triple room had only two double beds together. The shower room was so small I kept banging my arm while soaping.
Positive side is that it’s where all the shops are located & walking distance to view the Matterhorn.

No real front desk. The first interaction was from someone in the restaurant “what’s your name take your key “ Room was on the 4th floor no elevator and no one offered to help. The room was barely big enough for the bed.

The room was clean and tidy. This would have been a lovely stay however at midnight a drunk man was beating on the doors and screaming. I had to call the police.

The problem with the rooms are that there is no door or entrance which safeguards the rooms. Anyone can walk up the stairs and did in this case.

Beautiful, quaint, historic property, right on the main street in zurich. You can't beat it for charm and location. Clean, tidy. On the small side, but for the price i think it was great! It can be a bit noisy if your room is in the front and on a lower floor, but nothing a pair of Earplugs won't solve!

Totally terrible hotel. There are no signs like Do not disturb. Staff entered our room on 2nd day to change bedsheets. I had valuables inside. On check out day they entered our room when we were having breakfast and took out the sheets and towels. I had not bathed yet. At 7am plus. 2nd time came in when we were in the room at 8am. Why are they coming in when we have not checked out? Bath area is on 2.5 x 2.5 feet.

This is a lovely quaint hotel and we liked the room. However we had to check ourselves in and were disappointed with staff insisting on immediate cash payment when we went down for breakfast. The room was prepared for the next guests while we were at breakfast, including personal items being moved. This is not appropriate

Difficult to locate, you can see the sign in the street, but difficult to locate in the alley. No elevator, we were given rooms in the 4th floor, could you imagine carrying 3 big luggages and 2 carry-ons back and forth from the ground floor to the 4th in a very narrow wooden staircase? Never again will I book in this hotel. Shower holder is broken. Rooms are not soundproof, you can hear your neighbors. Not recommended.

The hotel is located in the middle of the main strasse in Zermatt, close to everything. The property is very old and currently under renovation (I think). The stairway is hard to climb and dangerous, often dark. The walls are bare drywall with exposed wiring.
Our room on the fourth floor had a great view and a large shower, after that nothing good. The bed collapsed during the night, I fell through to the floor. The floors are on a slant and the bathroom has a small dangerous step to the toilet and shower from the sink.
The on property staff is quite rude and showed no interest in the issues with the room. The housekeeper was pleasant and nice and did a good job.
I checked out after the first night and found a new hotel. I have to say the owner, who is off property, did issue me a full refund and apologies. I am very grateful for his generosity.
Perhaps the hotel will be better by next season. I hope so.

It was very noisy, looks under construction, the staff are not that helpful, bathroom are very small, and they have early check out which we rushed packing our stuff. And also food in the breakfast are not that bad. The hotel are very dark and there’s no elevator. The good thing is in the downtown area which I like. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone especially for the elders.

Location is convenient and close to all areas of interest. Bars and restaurants are connected an in the property. Let’s left with Italian restaurant staff, rude to say the least. In the center of the town. The hotel was under construction, the room was not even properly label (no number on the door). Plywood was left along the stairs to the rooms. No elevator so take note if you can’t climb. Some of the rooms are next to washing mashing so be aware. It was ok for a night and we had a view of the Matterhorn.
