The hotel is situated in the shadows of Ely's splendid cathedral tower. The narrow old streets of Ely house medieval gateways, timbered houses and parkland, sweeping down to the lovely River Great Ouse, where there are boating and fishing facilities.

Historically there is much to seen in the area, with the fine cathedral, Cromwell's house and the history of local saints such as St Etheldreda. Cambridge is close by and offers other historic buildings, as well as good shopping.

Newmarket, famous for horse racing, is just 19 km away. Ely Railway Station is just 1.
