Recent stay in Newmarket

This is a repeat visit over the last few years. Room was clean and tidy, and unlike another hotel stayed in over the previous couple of days, the aircon worked!

Staff friendly and helpful, with a thank you to the dining room staff, who looked after me so well.

I cannot comment on eco-friendliness considering I have no idea what the hotel does and does not recycle, but when cereal boxes and weetabix wrappers (all recyclable where I live in Wiltshire) are mixed in with all rubbish in one bin, perhaps separate discard bins may help staff to separate out cardboard/ paper/ plastics and weetabix wrappers and cereal bags (these can be recycled with other identified recyclable bags, including recyclable cling film, via supermarkets (not sure about bulk suppliers).

I had a single room with a sprung only mattress which di cause me some back pain, so perhaps a foam topper could be added?

For the money and short notice can’t overly complain. Good location for the town centre. Staff were polite. Parking onsite easy check in. Main negative was our room did smell of cigarette smoke. But by time wife had put a can of hairspray and perfume on soon forgot about it. So all in all just ok if you’re looking for a night over. There was upgrade rooms available, possibly they may of been better

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was nice and open, we didn’t feel cramped. The AC didn’t keep the room cool, and the overall temperature of the room was too warm even with opening a window. The door to our set of rooms was really heavy and loud when people came in and out of the hallway.

Pleasant stay in Newmarket

Have stayed here before as it in an excellent position for the family visited. Room looks to have had an update, and is clean and tidy. Staff friendly and helpful. Booked breakfast for each day of my stay, but ate other meals away from site.

OK hotel in good location

This place is fine, it does what it says on the tin so to speak, just nothing special. The beds are comfortable, my only complaint is that it is very cold. There doesn’t seem to be radiators or underfloor heating, so relies on a fan heater that attaches to the wall that turns off frequently and gives out little heat. They did supply us with 2 more heaters but these were very noisy making it hard to sleep

The room was very cold, all the heating had been turned off. The corridors were a cheap remake of Ice Station Zebra and were unlit when we arrived so we had to use a torch. We moved rooms to try to get something warmer but this too was cold when we arrived. Eventually it warmed up a bit but we had a fan heater on the whole night. Also, we couldn’t get the kettle to work but this turned out to be a faulty plug socket. Overall extremely disappointing to put it mildly.

Welcoming and full-service facilities. Dining room, front desk staff, and large parking lot. Very well located and right off of High Street. Not the most charmingly historic hotel, but an easy-to-use, not overly expensive option. Would definitely stay there again.

Clean, tidy and welcoming hotel

Clean hotel. Some of the elements may be on the verge of being outdated but it’s a clean, tidy hotel in a good location. Staff were professional and cheery. We stayed on a very blustery night but room must be soundproofed and we both slept well. Downstairs in the bar and restaurant area again it’s clean and welcoming.

The best Best Western I've ever stayed at in all sense of the word. Very clean, very hospitable, very nice restaurant area and food, and of course lovely people. If you need a place to stay for the night and into the next day id recommend this place. Especially if youre in a pinch and cant get back home immediately.

Good car parking and location

Hotel was well located for the town centre. Has on site parking. The corridors to the rooms are cold with leaking windows. It was raining as we left and there were puddles on all windowsills. Our room and that of our colleague had windows open when we arrived but the rooms still had a damp smell. Bathroom had shower over bath but without any aids to assist in getting in or out. Wrap around plastic curtain. Not a shower screen as shown on hotel photos. When we emptied the wash basin it resulted in dirty water coming up into the bath. Breakfast offering was sparse although a cooked breakfast was available. Standard tea and coffee offered but no barista choices. Staff were lovely but would not revisit.

Stayed for one night and wanted a hotel that offered more than a standard hotel offers. We had a large (almost huge) comfortable room with plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe, a king sized comfortable bed and a lovely en-suite. Would definitely stay there again.

The place is well located its my first visit to new market and the closeness to the horses training was brilliant and was amazing to see so many

The hotel was very expensive

£13 for two Ham sandwiches with cheese. Really expensive

The staff were great. They are governed by the prices

But you really need a Reality check
Its a Piece of bread with cheese gratings

The crisps were aldi standard

I Say Aldi standard as the packet given when askee is the same as the multi oack i have at home and put in my daugters butty box


I didnt eat dinner or brraofast as id need a Loan no doubt but when i can get two full breakfasts and unlimted coffee about 200 yards down the road cheaper than two han sadwhiches its an issue


Oh and the toilet was blocked all day in the bar area

Staff were told but was still blocked until Sunday
( sunday is more expensive for call outs ) if thats what was needed

If its just waiting for a Cleaner then thats poor as everyone can clean and unblock a toilet

Nice hotel, bad carpark

On arrival the gentleman was helpful, he was finishing his shift but very engaging, the lady from Europe who took over was rude and unhelpful, just not the right attitude to talk to guests. Never had rudeness from a receptionist before. Rooms were big and spacious, beds comfy, cant fault that. Had a fire alarm but got cancelled as we left the room.Mu biggest bug bearer is the car park is not big enough. Cars everywhere that i ended up parking on the street. There was a function on and the paying guests staying at the hotel gets second treatment for the car park. Red flag for me when staying at a hotel.

The dining experience was disappointing. The manager did offer to not charge us, but as we had been given complimentary desserts and had drinks we felt it was fair to pay. Service was not its usual standard, but that maybe because it was busy. Stepped on 2 small stones in bare feet in the bedroom and the tv was at an odd angle to watch in bed. Bathroom was immaculate and plenty of complimentary coffee in bedroom.

While this doesn't have the 'historical' appeal of some other hotels in the area, it is clean, bright, spacious, with amenities that make the stay easy and enjoyable (e.g., air conditioning, front desk, restaurant). It is also right in the middle of Newmarket, so convenient to everything. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very good value for the price.

One Night stay on racing break

One night stay whilst attending the races. Hotel in good location only a few minutes walk to high street with pubs and restaurants. Plus about 35 minutes walk to the races. Ample free car parking. Breakfast was fine in the morning with cooked to order full English. We would definitely stay again if going to the races.

This property is a 1 minute walk to watch the horses train each morning. Its is a 5 minute walk to high street. We stayed here 20 years ago as well, so good to be back. If you want to visit Newmarket, this is a wonderful place to stay!

Poor room maintenance!

We were late getting to the hotel, I’d booked in on line, when we arrived I was asked to book in again, the receptionist hadn’t checked her computer for our booking, we got to the room and dropped our bags and headed to the bar, on return to the room we realised that the extractor fan was constantly on!,, what a nightmare. Woke up at 6 am to the constant noise of the fan, rubbish nights sleep! Headed to breakfast, which was Luke warm, but plentiful, when we left I informed the hotel staff of the problem, hopefully this will be rectified for the next guest

not great but was friendly.

bedroom small, window faced out to a corridor so had to keep certain closed for privacy in the room so no daylight. Pillows very hard, bed old and back board banged against wall as it was very lose when i tried to move round in bed. Generator running all night, walls very thin so could here every noise, didn't get much sleep. Staff are friendly though and room was clean :-)
