The place can get noisy at night when you're trying to sleep - due to noisy doors mostly. The toilets are tiny and small too. The room we stayed in was too hot and you can't cool it down with the window open too well. The beds and pillows were rock hard - super uncomfortable.

Cannot fault the cleanliness, the staff, the room (although smaller than expected for 4 people). The only complaint we had was the heat in the room that built up during the day and the room did not cool down enough at night, making the nights too warm and even sweaty.

The staff were very friendly. And room were quiet. The only thing that is not satisfactory is the bed is very small, and no curtains around the bed without privacy, no USB outlet for charging, needs UK adapter, and for tall people the lower bed can not sit up without hitting the top bunker. Bathroom and toilet room very clean yet extremely small.

The location was very good. It was close to the train station and in an area with plenty of food options. It was also only a short walk to the historic college area. There is a locker provided in the rooms but you must provide your own lock.

Great common areas, including a highly functional kitchen (although you'll need pocket knives) and a quiet living room and courtyard. Good secure bike storage. Laundry is cheaper than actual laundromats. The cleaning staff are incredibly hard working and their efforts are impressive to see. Cambridge is small, so it's a short walk or bike to most places.

I enjoyed my stay here, even if it was just for a night. For my first stay in a Cambridge hostel, it was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. Rooms were clean and had everything I needed. I’m not too picky and the size of the bed was just right for me, but maybe someone taller might have found it less comfortable. They also have a self-catering kitchen for those who prefer to make their own meals (definitely cheaper), and the kitchen was well equipped. I didn’t get to try the breakfast opinion, maybe next time when I come round. I’ll highlight some other things;

- They also have a baggage room where you can keep your belongings even if you’re checking out or whilst your room is being prepared. So, I felt quite safe leaving my things there.

Not good value for money for a couple
Location is close to the train station. No no-site parking, and free on-street parking is mainly from 8pm - 9am, although a few spots from 6pm - 9am. Be warned that the traffic warden was there from 8:50am. Guy on reception in the evening was friendly and helpful, but the lady on the morning was rather rude and unhelpful when we asked for advice about where we could park the car after 9am. (\"I don't drive\"?! If you work on a reception desk you would imagine that even if you don't drive yourself, you would be capable of assisting visitors to the city with this fairly basic question...). Auto-sensors in toilets go off too quickly and leave you waving your arms around in the dark whilst trying to locate the toilet roll... Breakfast at £10 seemed rather expensive, and there are some lovely options along Mill Road that I'd recommend instead as long as you don't have a 7am start. The individual lights and phone charging points at each bed were good. The mattresses were plastic covered, so noisy if you were on the bottom bunk. Noise from other guests (banging on doors very late at night/ early in the morning) and room too hot and stuffy, so not a great night's sleep. For a couple, the fees working out at about £67- I'd recommend you splurge another £10 or so and find a B&B alternative with parking, as I don't think this represents good value for money, especially not if you come with a car.

There was a period of about 2 hours from about 6.30 am when someone was walking up and down the corridor regularly with very heavy footsteps, not trying to keep noise to a sensible level, and slamming doors. As a sleep apnoea sufferer this made it a very difficult night for me and l felt it necessary to leave the City asap to get home and get some sleep rather than spending more time in Cambridge.

YHA Cambridge is always a great stay! They were up to standard with cleanliness as they locked the showers and you had to book a time slot as they would clean the shower straight after usage!

The breakfast buffet is optional and costs 6.75 GBP. There are lockers in the luggage storage room which costs 2-3 GBP to rent, depending on size. You can also leave your bags in the luggage room outside the lockers at your own risk.

Brief stopover in YHA hostel. As always a friendly warm welcome....staff went out of their way to be helpful. Very convenient location close to the Railway Station and short walk from the centre.

Booked a private room with shared facilities. The shared facilities were terrible. Dirty & constant racket from the hand driers going off every time someone passed them. The room itself smelled terrible (of feet) even though it had been cleaned according to staff & noisy neighbouring rooms kept us up all night.

The property is in a quiet location, with a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. The areas are generally clean. There is a kitchen available for preparing meals. However, this is one of the smaller YHA hostels I have stayed in. The rooms had lockers but were quite small.

I was warned in advance that it would be hot in the room and that a fan would be provided. I did happen to stay there during a heatwave but hot doesn't even come close to doing the room justice. I imagine at any other point during the year it would have been perfectly fine though.

Almost Felt Like a Hotel
YHA Cambridge is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. I was in a six-person room, and it was so spacious. The lockers are large. Every bed has a little outlet and reading light station. My room even had a vanity with a sink and lit mirror. The only problem I had was that the Wifi didn't really work well in my room. I do my job remotely, so having reliable Wifi is important. I worked in the common room, which was fine. But better Wifi would have been ideal!

My room was smelling similar to urine and the room was freezing cold as the window had been left open all day. The rooms should be checked especially in this weather as it took an 1hrvti heat up! I must say when I infirbed the receptionist about the room, she sent someone up as soon as possible and fumigated the room. She also checked if I could be moved to another room but the hostel was fully booked. Good customer service!

YHA is a beautiful property with plush interiors. The staff is very nice just that they are a bit too much process inclined.

An enjoyable stay at the YHA
We needed to stay to visit family who unfortunately couldnt accommodate us at their house. As typical with yha stays (as we have stayed with yha in other locations) the staff were friendly, very helpful and willing to pretty much bend over backwards to give an excellent customer experience. The rooms were adequate and clean as can be expected with yha. We had a private room and the en-suite was immaculately clean. Comfy memory foam mattresses and clean well presented linen. Less than a 2min walk from the station and a 15min walk to the city centre & tourist attractions. Lovely choice of food at the hotel and portions were huge! Plus speacial offers such as \"cuppa & a cake\" which were highly used by us. Alternatively the local road 'Mill Road' has a plethora of restaurants to choose from. Local bus connections to everywhere from the station. A much enjoyed stay

Great hostel but needs air con!
Great service on the desk. We checked in very late having returned from Cambridge Folk festival. Location was great, close to local amenities and a short walk from the train station. Room itself was everything we needed, basin in room, bunk beds were comfy but my only gripe was how hot it was in the room. Admittedly it was probably the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, but there was no air con, the windows barely opened and there was no cold water from the taps in the room, just hot. We were able to leave our bags in a locked storage room after check out so we could explore the city more freely which was very handy. Overall, a good stay in a clean, friendly hostel. Rooms could really do with air con though it was unfortunate how hot it was on the day of our stay. Good location and would stay again for the money.

Modern, neat and tidy, good food. Room extremely hot despite fan provided, thin walls and other guests clomping about at all hours made for a poor night's sleep. Ear plugs should be provided! Staff rather inflexible and unhelpful.

Very noisy - car alarm was going off every 10 mins, a group of men came in at 3 am and continued to party and the couple next to my room were obviously having a good time with each other - I could feel it through the walls.... delightful! Also, the shower was freezing and dirty.

For my purposes, 24-hour reception was invaluable, as was a private room (staying after performing, with valuable equipment). I did little more than sleep there, but everything I needed worked as it should. The room was clean (shared bathroom a little less so), and my only objections the room was oddly hot and the tap didn't seem to run cold water. Definitely better than I would have expected for a youth hostel on my budget (perhaps I was prejudiced!).

I was assigned the lower bed of a bunk bed. Could not sit up straight at all.The only way to avoid bumping the head was to lie down, which upset me when I was awake. (BTW I'm only 160cm) During my stay, people living upstairs were extremely inconsiderate. They made huge noise (maybe by moving the luggage around violently) late at night and in the very early morning. Everything else in my experience was OK.

The hostal was conveniently located 7min walk from the station. Rooms price is money for value. The beds and bathroom where very clean and well presented. The only tiny little issue was the room was not well ventilated, but you just have to do. Anyway we were there just to sleep and that went well. The bunk beds have a super convenient little night tray to charge your phone :)

Great place to stay. Close to the station where you can pick up the Red Sightseeing bus. The staff were really helpful and the cooked breakfast is a must. Would definitely recommend this as it was such good value. Will stay here again if we ever return to Cambridge.

Excellent weekend at Cambridge YHA attending the 70th anniversary of Inter Varsity Clubs which started in Cambridge and attend the annual conference.
Located next to train station that has reasonable parking fees, under £10 at time of writing Fri-Sun. Cycle storage at YHA with hose/tool kit available in patio area.
Busy hostel, all age ranges. 4 of us in 4bed room, no.4, 1 bunk & 2 singles with ensuite toilet/shower/sink compact but out all day/night so not an issue and cleaned daily and quiet.
Cafe area, great value all u can eat breakfast - full english, croissants & jam, toast, ham, cheese etc with tea, coffee & selection of juices. Fully licences bar with outside seating area.
Definately recommend and plan return visit.

Busy hostel, all age ranges. 4 of us in 4bed room, no.4, 1 bunk & 2 singles with ensuite toilet/shower/sink compact but out all day/night so not an issue and cleaned daily and quiet.
Cafe area, great value all u can eat breakfast - full english, croissants & jam, toast, ham, cheese etc with tea, coffee & selection of juices. Fully licences bar with outside seating area.
Definately recommend and plan return visit.

I've stayed at many hostels but Yha Cambridge is one of maybe three in the world that I actually liked. Great staff, v clean, decent restaurant.

All areas were really clean and modern, the facilities were perfect for what we needed. The cafe/bar area had a great selection of food and drink; we enjoyed the mulled wine! Location is good for the train station and centre of Cambridge, about 15-20 minutes walk.
There was noise from other guests moving around the corridors etc during the night and the staff seemed a bit
scatty but generally very friendly.
We got a really good deal for a 4bed room between 3 of us and we'll book again next time we visit Cambridge.

Close to the train station and to town it is well located and very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean. We had a private room (for 4 people with en- suite) which worked really well. My only complaint is that our room was by the toilets and showers and so the banging doors in the morning were a bit annoying.
