My partner booked the room but after calling to confirm she was told she didn’t have a booking
So on the strength of that I booked through Expedia then on the morning of the stay my partner received confirmation that she did have a booking so we had to cancel it because I had booked again very confusing,then it was very late in the day before we could get in to the room because it hadn’t been cleaned ,other than those things everything else was excellent.

The hotel foyer, restaurant and exterior give off a classy 5 star establishment as is the price per nights but the rooms do not live up to that.
Beds are comfortable but the rooms look tired. Bathrooms still have showers over the baths which are difficult to get in and out of.
No decent coffee (pod machine) or tea in the rooms. A must at all good establishments. Just the very cheap variety
Room faced the street and although there was a balcony it wasnt somewhere pleasant to sit .

Tried to call the hotel was put on hold for longer than 35 minutes, which I don’t think is acceptable and then at the end of the day the call was disconnected.

Could not get hot water when I went to take a bath shower in the evening ran it for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Still no hot water.

I think the hotel is overrated. It’s old needs to be updated.

Have stayed several times at the Esplanade, this time was the most expensive and least satisfying. The room was clean and spacious (no balcony or view though), but there was a series of things that just should have been better: noisy people in the corridor, the aircon with almost zero airflow, the door which wouldn't close properly (and the maintenance guy who came to fix it pounding on the door at 8am), the delivery which was not passed on, the coffee supplies not replenished... For the price paid, it was disappointing.

We had a few events in Fremantle over the weekend. To avoid travel and for a treat, we booked a \"Superior\" room at The Esplanade. We also pre-paid breakfast.
Our room was basically in the lobby, it was the nearest room to the main desk. The noise was constant, loud voices and banging etc non-stop until around midnight. It then resumed at 6:00 am. On top of that, the cleaning crew were vacuuming outside of our door at around 2:00 am. So next to no sleep possible in that room. There was no view from the window, it was blocked by a tree. It was a nice tree, so fair enough. However, the windows was so dirty a view would have been wasted.
When we came to check out, I mentioned these things to the staff. Their response \"Well, did you specifically ask not to have those things\". Like we should expect that experience in a \"Superior\" room in a 4* hotel.
On top of that, we were given a bill for having coffee with breakfast. Pre-paid breakfast does not include coffee.
Superior price; inferior experience. Very disappointed.

Room good size. Room/hotel needs refreshing, chipped paint, grout missing, tired. Pool needs a good clean tiles grubby. Pool bar or music doesnt happen during week. QR code to order doesnt allow special requests eg no anchovies, doesnt have all drinks eg soda water. Aircon not great in room had it set to 5° and it was still cooler in hallway. Responsible cleaning wasn't clear you had to bring postcards down tonreception on checkout.

Check in had a very long lane, which is understandable. But at 2.55pm, the reception told me that room is not ready for 3pm check in and asked me to go to their pub to have a drink. So I went to the pub had a juice and went back waited in the queue for another 20 mins to get the room key. Marked a quiet room please, and got put right in front of the lifts which was still loud as at 9pm… my 2 years old couldn’t sleep till almost 10. The reservation is marked as one adult and one child…. Not saying that we need to get special treated but definitely did not feel any hospitality exist in this place.

The hotel is in a good location. Pool area was great. Room was clean and had good amenities. It stated sound proof and block out curtains, however this wasn’t the case for us. The light came in through the door frame and windows as so we were up earlier than I would’ve liked to be on holiday. Also was a bit noisy, but might have just been due to the position of our room as we were near the pool. Overall was a nice stay.

A lovely old colonial looking hotel in a perfect location for sightseeing in Fremantle. Very close to the harbour, prison, station, market and everything else that you might want to see.

Parking opposite the hotel will cost $30 AUD and you need to register your vehicle at reception before you park

Staff were friendly and courteous and the rooms were spacious and comfortable

The breakfast buffet is very generous with a wide variety of choice

We absolutely LOVED the hotel, however certain elements put a dampener on it... literally! The poorly designed bathroom had a shower door that didn't close properly and therefore leaked everywhere. Someone had left wet towels in the top of the cupboard which stunk the room out. Credit to them, they offered to move us but we'd just unpacked and thought the smell would go away. It did not, and we were surprised housekeeping didn't notice the smell.

The bathroom was extremely cramped with a huge bath taking up most of the room, the shower wedged between it and the vanity and the toilet placed under the vanity, very strange. Surely get rid of the bath and space things out a bit better.

We probably had the worst balcony in the whole hotel. A tiny, concrete thing with no shade so that the metal chairs were too hot to sit on.

We did expect more for the amount of money we paid, but I think we were just unlucky and should have taken up the offer to move rooms. The rest of the place was fantastic.

Pleasant stay with very helpful staff and in a great location to enjoy Fremantle and the wider area. Breakfast was great and the rooms were quiet, cleaned thoroughly every day and there was a pool to relax at after a busy day. Whilst the hotel is well run, it lets itself down by being generally a bit run down. It’s well past a refurb and the current owners would do well to do that - it’s listed as four stars but I would judge three better. Carpets are frayed at the edges in rooms, walls with scrapes, bathroom floor tiles ingrained with dirt over the years and the breakfast/lounge areas have tables and chairs of the type you might see in a bingo hall, with the Formica edges coming away on some tables. The gym for the size of hotel is very small and poor, with just three machines, all of which are 20+ years old. A refurb would make this well run hotel a super place to stay.

For such a large prestigious hotel, the gymnasium is on a shoestring cheap budget items.

The pools were filthy not cleaned paper dirt leafs in water did not see it cleaned once

Overall the hotel is an ideal place to locate yourself while visiting Fro. Staff friendly, accommodation spacious and clean.
It lay thing that could have made room better was places to put your cloths, wardrobe was ok but little shelf space for smaller items.

We stayed in room 479 - avoid this at all costs if you like peace and quiet. Outside the room (& lots of neighbouring rooms), is the hotel’s air-conditioning outlet which makes a constant, relentless loud noise. It was like trying to sleep next to the Niagara Falls. We’ve just checked out and are now enjoying the sound of silence away from the hotel (room 479).

Booked superior room with pool view. My room was in the corner, and you could just see the pool, but view largely blocked by enormous tree. Balcony was very restricted - smallest in hotel and just about room to stand, so not really for sitting out. VIP status not recognised at all and the complimentary drinks for 2 that were supposed to be part of my package were never offered. Breakfast has a good variety, although no eggs to order (eg fried or poached) and other hot items were generally luke warm at best

Wonderful to have the concierge open 24 hours. Lovely, friendly staff.
The room was just lovely. Big, comfy bed. Immaculate bathroom. Gorgeous big balcony.

The only thing I missed out on was a cup of tea! I had no idea the tea/ coffee/ bar facilities were tucked behind a sliding door cupboard which I never thought to open, as I thought it was a clothes cupboard! Maybe there could be some signage to make things clearer?

Overall, I'd love to visit again.

I had high expectations for the area and for the hotel it seemed dated my room had a weird smell in the hallway, smelled like oil paint drying to the point where it sort of gave me a headache. I have to say that when I went to the front desk to say anything, they were very nice about it. I’m not sure they were able to address it and another comment that maybe had nothing to do with the hotel, but just the area at times seemed sketchy, but I don’t know if that’s the hotel’s fault obviously

I have stayed here many times over the years, some over night, some a week and many in between. The staff are awesome, cleaning, bar, catering and reception. The rooms are all good, but be aware that some may be well away from the reception. I normally receive a room close to the elevator and reception, unfortunately I had one what seemed KM away this time. It was quite a trek. along the ground floor to the elevator was a trek, and the once on the floor, a fair dinkem walk to the fertherest edge of the building. Nevertheless, the room was great. the view a brick wall, but all was awesome outside the room. Hats off to the cleaning staff, they rock! Id say, BOOK, but be aware the room may be a walk and a half away from reception. I completely rate the bar and especially the food! The food is amazing. You may be fooled in Fremantle, but never in The Esplanade. I will most definitely stay again, but caveat, request a room close to the Reception on either floor. simply awesome.
