The room was clean and comfortable! The staff were friendly and very helpful! The neighborhood however was not that great. I was a little uncomfortable going in and out. There also was a good bit of noise that could be heard throughout the night as well. Still, it is within walking distance to all of the major sites, it’s clean and the staff friendly. Just don’t go alone.

However, overall it was a fairly standard hotel with a rather small room — no kettle or coffee machine provided, and you need to ask for an iron if you need one. The area around the property felt a bit uncomfortable at night, but it seemed to be a general vibe in that part of the city.

Downtown Athens walking convenience
This older hotel is located a block off the main drag downtown, but very safe. You can walk comfortably to every major point downtown (Acropolis, Agora, the wonderful open air market which has great inexpensive lunches, all the shopping districts, Syntagma Square, the National Gardens, etc.). It has a good free breakfast and the staff is very kind and helpful.

The only thing we disliked was all their fried eggs they had prepared for breakfasts on both days 9th & 10 Aug 25' were very rubbery, you could not even break the egg yolk. Fried eggs shouId be fluffy in touch & soft yolk. I dont know what the cook in the kitchen does to prepare these eggs but something needs to be changed so to avoid throwing it away. So at the end I opted to have hard boiled eggs.

Economy Hotel was a great place to stay for our current visit to Athens. Breakfast included was OK but could have offered a few more hot options, but overall it was very nice. Access to transportation was great as the hop on hop off bus was across the street. Our room was clean and comfortable and we had very good WiFi access. The front desk staff was amazing and they would always be there to help if needed.

When we checked in, the guy was super helpful (I wish I remembered his name). He told us how to get to the places we mentioned, and gave some recommendatiins as well. I liked how it was close to Monastariki square.

it was great for what we needed
We only stayed in Athens for 1.5 days (2 nights) so it had everything we needed. It was walking distance to the \"city center\" ~15-20 minutes so you have to be able to walk that amount on top of a day of sightseeing. Theres a bunch of food places and shops along the way to pick up food/drinks. Basic breakfast was provided so that helped. The area was much more quiet compared to the touristy area but it seemed safe.

Exactly as I expected from previous reviews. Although the immediate area was a little seedy it was a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main tourist areas. The room had recently been painted and although it was quite dated it was fine. The only problem was that the bathroom door did not shut properly. The staff were very helpful as many have said and the breakfast was nothing special but for the price of the hotel it was adequate. Overall great value for money and I would recommend.

You will be surprised with the very clean rooms and highly professional and nice staff. When we booked and with the price and reviews about the area we were going on a budget. But believe me this hotel changes bed sheets and towels on a daily basis and they are very clean. The breakfast is basic but very convenient to someone willing to be in a clean place and go discover the city all day. Rooms are medium size and not small. As for the reception staff they are really nice and help you with all your questions and sometimes asked us if we needed to know how and where to go. As for the neighborhood we felt it is safe to wonder around day and night. And the hotel is very close to a hop on hop off bus station...as for the location, we did almost everything by feet...so close to omonia and monastiraki and 2 min from the wlking street that leeds you to anafiotika (around 25 min walking)...this place vs budget vs service is highly recommended

The furniture and the condition of the rooms were rather bare bones for the price paid. Breakfast didn't vary much and I would bracket by saying it's sufficient. The different guys on shift work at the reception were pleasant. Bear in mind that there is an adult store with adult entertainment just 10 steps across the hotel. However, the area is very close to Monastraki and Syntagma Sq which is definitely a plus. The area can seem dodgy after 9pm so I would suggest be mindful of your surroundings.

Front desk staff are excellent - we had a number of questions relating to transport (regional buses, metro) and they provided prompt, expert advice.

It is actually a pleasure to write this review because we loved our stay at the Economy Hotel. From start to finish everything was perfect. The staff at the desk was efficient, helpful, and extremely friendly which was not always the case in our other hotels in Greece. We stayed one night and ppreciated its location, one block from a beautiful Square and an easy walk to the main tourist section in Athens. They kindly let us store our luggage while we took a trip overnight to Meteora monasteries which we would highly recommend, and upon our return we were again warmly greeted and enjoyed another night here and another great breakfast. I have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend staying here.

Great service, great breakfast. This place makes you feel at home. Location is good just a little bit hard to find at the beginning. Once there, it is easy and close to everywhere. The only thing is that There is nothing in the room, u need to bring your own boiler or coffee machine if you want to drink something hot.

I felt the continental breakfast was one the best I've ever had. The room was quiet with great housekeeping every day. The location is close to metro stops. My only complaint was that when I asked the manager directions to the post office, he said there was no need to go, because he could sell me postcard stamps at their cost of 2 euros each. This hotel was well worth the stay especially given it was walking distance to the main square and many well known Gyros food places. Kostas- the young man at the front desk was most helpful and very supportive towards tourists he guided us on where to go, how to get there and where to eat. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

I loved this hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful when I need information. One thing I loved the most hiw good care they give to guest: one day I needed to leave earlier to the airport before the breakfast opens, and without asking, they gave me a bag with bread, banana, cake and juice. It was pretty ok for a budget hotel. On par with average quality of rooms at a typical budget hotel. he front desk staff was super helpful, even helped me save money using public transit than taking a cab out of town. I would say 1 downside is it is across the street of 3 adult cinemas. So you get a bunch of shady characters lurking in the street outside. It is only a few blocks from the major tourist plaza, but it’s scary with shady characters in that short walk. I would recommend this place for saving $$$, but I would not recommend staying here alone. You’ll want some friends to watch your back at night when you go for a walk to the city center.
