The room was reasonable and clean, but the street noise was loud, and desk staff were very unfriendly. The neighbourhood was extremely sketchy and definitely did not feel safe , especially after dark. There was no ice machine and the bar staff seemed reluctant to provide it without a purchase. Very disappointed that the pool closed at 7pm as we had planned to have evening swims after long hot days in the sun. Overall, not impressed and won’t be back.

The hotel was lovely, staff friendly, rooms clean and comfortable, pool lovely (although cold in April!), food great and views from the rooftop amazing! We had 4 nights here (mum and 13 year old daughter) and had no issues. We used the main roads rather than the back streets (which maps will give you when walking as the shortest distance) and always felt safe. Very close to Omonia Square metro and a short walk to Monastiraki. We would stay here again, for the hotel quality and staff service.

3 Nights in Athens

Three nights in Athens been here many times so had a good idea of where to stay and qual of hotel. Omonia has changed a lot , we didn’t feel the area was particularly bad and Sat by fountain most nights no issues lots of places to eat.. Excellent metro links to all sites and Airport. The hotel room was good had an upgrade the bed comfortable room and bathroom good. One issue was air con not working and at 26c coming from uk winter it felt hot in the room we were able to open window at night so not too bad. Check your air con before unpacking. Otherwise for the price we had no issues usual single news channel, think one other channel for various tv series etc in English . Think most hotels should just upgrade the TVs so people can stream from phone. I would stay at Dorian again.

I told her that I had completed the form while I dropped my lugguage in the morning. She was upset until she found my form which was just sat in the reception table. The receptionist at the desk was not friendly at all during check in. Our door to the room would not close easily, had to slam it to close. The photos must have been taken when the hotel was new, it did not look like the photos at all. The area surrounding the hotel was dirty, you felt very unsafe. The TV was from 1990s and no good reception. The toilet was crooked, the tube had a hand wash wand. I was very disappointed to say the least. That being said the roof top was nice. The pool was clean and nice. The staff at the bar were friendly and accommodating. But that was it. The staff for the breakfast were not nice or friendly at all. I would only consider this place as a last resort.

For many years I have stayed in this Hotel. Got to know some of the staff that have been working there for many years, it was great to see familiar faces. Everyone is pleasant and welcoming. I used the pool and the service up there was excellent also. The rooms are always very clean and tidy and the Hotel is close to everything, which makes things easier for us foreigners visiting Athens. Keep up the great job.

Best part is the pool at the top of the hotel, staff were all lovely. You can leave your bags safely at the start and end of stay. Breakfast was buffet hot and cold all you would want. Bad points room was not what was shown on Booking .com expected a lovely bathroom with walk in shower. Got a very old bathroom with mould around bath tub, no shower only a hand held sprayer, toilet seat did not fit and bits falling off.Only three rooms in the entire hotel have theses and they are suites. The bed corners were missing and ripped your leg if you were not careful. Carpets in room and corridor had defiantly seen
better days. Our rooms with balcony faced an apartment block above a very noisy road, but then all rooms what ever side you had were the same. The AC only works when you have your card key in the slot in your room so when you came back from a day out the room was hot.
The lifts are very small and slow. Staff were all helpful and especially the bar staff at the pool side were lovely. You can have food at the bar by the pool very good menu and reasonable price. The view from the top pool side is just spectacular, the pool itself has one very deep end which no area you can stand up in, then off to the far end a small shallow section for children. Around the pool are bean bags and recliners, absolutely the best part of the hotel. Hotel staff will arrange transport to airport much cheaper than Uber and what l could find on the internet. Walking okay from hotel.

The Dorian is very well located, my single room was well appointed and clean. Athens is quite safe, and although the area around the hotel looked dirty and full of graffiti, it was perfectly fine to walk around during daytime. The rooftop restaurant has an amazing view of the Acropolis, and the food at the restaurant there was quite good, but not as much as the friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely stay there again!

AC did not work, shower did not have a place to keep your shampoo or soap or hang a towel, there was no shower head. Terrible bathroom with old marble tiles, may be from 1960 when the hotel was built. Bad neighborhood. You can see homeless people asking for money next to the hotel. No nearby place to eat. It is situated in a really bad neighborhood. I would never stay here again.

Hotel needs to be updated. There was no thermostat for the rooms air conditioning system, which meant getting up many times during the night or freezing during the night. I am surprised Best Western would have accommodations like this, I expected more from them

Beds were the most uncomfortable bed I ever slept on. Mattress was 3 inches thick. I am only 6 feet tall and my feet were almost hanging off the bed.
Our room smelt so bad of sewage that we had to request a new room.
Staff was great! Friendly and accommodating. Otherwise this hotel would have been a disaster.

We chose the place because we read comments that the place is safe, may these be fabricated reviews? And immediately on our first morning in the hotel in two minutes in the dining room when we just got up to take bread (four meters from our table) robbed / stole our bag with all our money and phone and expensive equipment..and nobody saw or heard and said there was no security and no cameras .. Then it turned out that there are cameras and the thief is being photographed but the police there collapsing from work with the thousands of refugees there .. In short they put us as a bait to thieves without warning us or trying to help ... The police said they know the problem at this hotel they do not pose a security guard to see who enters the hotel ??? And even in the dining room don't ask who comes in to eat ??? Keeping his soul away! By the way, police say that the safes there are also unsafe and the place is infested with thieves and robbers by force ... Go to Eilat !!!בחרנו במקום בגלל שקראנו תגובות שהמקום בטוח, יכול שאלו חוות דעת מפוברקות? הראשון של הבוקר הראשון שלי במלון במהלך שתי דקות בבית האוכל. רק אחרון קמנו לקחת לחם. I should have done a better review of this hotel prior to booking. Read the reviews so you know exactly what you are getting! Overall - the hotel is dated and not what we were expecting.

We arrived at the Dorian Inn late at night, after the restaurant in the hotel was closed. The hotel is nice enough, but not in a good area of town. Upon check-in, the worker was very helpful.

The elevators in the hotel are very small. It was barely big enough to hold me, my husband, and our 4 suitcases!

The room was small, it was tight to walk around from one side of the bed to the other. The website says the room has air conditioning, but it was two large vents on the top of the wall that had a knob to turn with three different fan settings - nothing to adjust temperature. Our room was very warm and never cooled down, which made it pretty miserable for us. The only good thing was that the window opened, so we were able to open that at night for a breeze - but of course then we were subjected to the noises on the street and throughout the night. The bathroom was definitely dated and only had a hand shower, which did not include a holder for it. Towels were provided, but no wash cloths. The door stop for the bathroom didn't allow the door to open fully.

We did go to the 12th floor to check out the pool and the view, which were both very nice! We did order room service, and the worker who brought it to us was great! The food was good, but my husband did not like the pizza.

Nice 3 star hotel - spent three days there. I wish it was in a better Athens location. Scary area, especially at night. That is by far the biggest problem/concern. Outdated AC controls don’t allow you to change temperature, only fan velocity, speed 0-4, so you are at hotel’s mercy temperature-wise. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast buffet and table service was excellent. Front desk staff was attentive and a pleasure to deal with.

While the Dorian Hotel is dated, it is clean and comfortable. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel was a little grungy but we felt safe walking around. It is really convenient as we were close to Monastriaki station and Monastriaki Square, which meant that we were close to the Ancient Agora and everything connected to the Acropolis. The breakfast buffet was great -- early enough to accommodate those with early morning flights and late enough to let you sleep in some. The staff was very kind and was able to help us with everything we needed.

It definitely was less than 3 star accommodation. Rooms did not look anything like the rooms advertised on the website. Upon arriving, the lady at the front desk warned us about our safety at this hotel and it’s surrounding streets. We were told that we should only walk down main roads and not at night (this sent off alarm bells in our heads!) We were told that it is part of the Red Light District of Athens. At some stage from getting out of the taxi to the entrance of the hotel, I had coloured liquid thrown on my back. The room smelt rotten, looked dirty, and there was extreme noise from the road. The bed linen had stains and the carpet was stained and raised. We decided that this was definitely not a place we could consider staying at. Our safety and health would be compromised. Checked out immediately.

The view from the roof top pool and restaurant is amazing! The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The air conditioning, though it worked, leaked water into the water closet whenever it was turned on.
It is a quick walk to the metro and one stop away from the Plaka and a walk up to the Acropolis and Parthenon. We recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Athens.

Lovely clean hotel, excellent staff who are very attentive. The panoramic view of Athens and Acropolis is outstanding, both day and night! Only complaint would be about the lack of sun loungers in the pool area. More sun loungers could be provided during the day in the area containing tables and chairs then restored to a restaurant area in the evening.

Two stays @ The Dorian Hotel within 2 weeks, and I thought it was great. Rooms basic, but completely comfy. Excellent brekky spread, loved the rooftop bar & restaurant. Only feedback is that it would be a nice touch if the pool was open a bit later than 7:30 pm, as it was still hot and sunny enough to have a dip.

I didn’t like a location of the hotel. Aria is dirty and people arond made me feel uneasy - would not walk aloun late at night.

Apart from being in a bit of a seedy part of town the location was great! Easy walk to Acropolis and Plaka areas with no need to use the metro. The rooftop pool and bar were excellent with views of Acropolis very impressive. Our bathroom was a bit below standard with the shower head needing to be held constantly as the rail it would usually sit on was broken. To be fair we did not report this and would assume if we had they may have changed our rooms. Air con worked well. Free breakfast buffet was good. Overall good budget hotel, this is my second time staying here and would come again. Best suited to couples or adventure types, not so much families.

The area this property is in is quite run down and feels dangerous to walk through in the evenings. It’s not too far from the metro station so that was an upside, and the view from the roof of the acropolis is really nice. But seeing all the run down surrounding in between you and the acropolis lessens the feeling.
Meanwhile the hotel was a disappointment in itself. Checking in was an issue at first, we had two rooms under one booking but when we got to the hotel they told us we had made two seperate bookings so both rooms were on completely different floors. This delayed us trying to sort that out, and then The room was nothing like any of the images online once we had actually checked in. We had no headboard and there were actually bolts sticking out where I suppose the headboard should have been attached. One side of the bed was missing about 3 or 4 slays all together so when you got on the bed you pretty much were going straight through the hole. The air conditioning is shared amongst various rooms, so whilst turning it all the way up cooled the room down during the day when I suppose most people were out sightseeing, during the evening/night when you wanted it to cool down to sleep most people must have had the same idea because it barely made a difference to the temperature of the room. The storage was extremely minimal so I lived out of my suitcase for the week. And hanging stuff up in the small cupboard meant the cupboard wouldn’t close and the light would stay on.
