The accommodation was extremely disappointing. We were promised a queen bed but instead received two separate single beds—one of which was broken. The bedsheets were dirty, and the room reeked of smoke, which made it very difficult for me to breathe as I have asthma.

The room was also located right next to the elevator, resulting in constant noise throughout the night. On top of that, the telephone in the room did not work, so we had to go down to reception every time we needed assistance.

The listing stated that breakfast was included, but not only was breakfast not provided, there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room either. One of the main reasons we chose this property over others was because breakfast was advertised, yet it was not available.

Cheap but still not worth it

The beds were terrible the staff knows nothing about the area to find your way around the pictures are of the renovated lobby not of the rooms the restaurant bar and coffee shop Do not actually work. The television in my room had to be plugged in unplugged in order to turn on and off it would not work my remote and they would not exchange televisions or fix it. You can hear everything from the other rooms to the walls.

Room didn’t match the pictures online, bathroom had mould on the roof and was generally average. Mattress dipped in the middle. The reception didn’t let us keep our key which we googled and saw is normal in Europe but after 22 European countries I have never experienced it. Area around the hotel is a bit dodgy but that’s not their fault

Smashed window on balcony, had to leave key at reception every time you left the room. Fridge didn't work and was dirty bathroom shower head had no place to hold the shower head

Good points it's very central near a metro line , staff at desk were helpful enough no water in room ceiling was flaking off
Didn't really have a good sleep due to all this and the smell of smoke that wasnt nice

You should be aware this hotel is not in a very good area. I would not have felt safe going out after dark. The room was adequate slightly shabby but reasonably clean The mirror was broken , the balcony door could not fully open. Most worrying was my room door was left ajar every day by the cleaning staff, despite mentioning it to reception

The accommodation was awful and in an awful area. Pictures on bookings.com were not what we experienced. Bed had hairs in it and stains on it. Shower cubicle was cracked, mirrors broken and awful smells from aircon. Would not recommend staying. We had to move hotel for the second night and pay again ourselves. No refund would be given.

I booked this hotel on 22/1/24 for a June date. On arrival I was told that the room had no electricity and they were unable to provide any alternative. So they moved us to an hotel around the corner by the name of Hotel Lido. As this was the last night of our trip we reluctantly accepted it. Why weren’t we advised prior to turning up!!!

Ok the staff are really nice and trying to run a respectable establishment but there’s no getting around the fact that the hotel is really quite shabby and in a very sketchy area, and the room was pretty filthy. Again the reception staff were lovely and the breakfast was great but these are the only perks to this hotel.

The staff were very polite! We were able to store our luggage before check-in with no issue. Sadly, the area around the hotel had a lot of drug use & homeless people. A local warned me to be careful as there are rising crime rates in that area. The shower & bathroom were incredibly tiny in the standard room so having more than one person in there was nearly impossible. The walls let a lot of noise through & we were unlucky to be next to a group of people that wouldn’t stop being loud until 1am or later each night when we had early wake-up's for tours. They also don’t have laundry as stated on the page, there’s laundry nearby & they said there’s a place that will do pick up & drop off service. The only good thing was the balcony & the friendliness of the staff. Otherwise, I won’t stay here again.

Arrived early hours of sat morning 06/04/24 staff were great.entered the room of stay,being half a sleep,woke me up ,from pictures supplied on hotels. Com to what i was looking at that present moment.ask for a picture of room 101.the bathroom, alittle bigger than a aircraft toilet, you could not close the bathroom door,swollen door.the bed mattress was lumpy due to the springs sticking up into the cloth.the lights kept tripping fuse,which by luck ,the fuse board was in the room.the room had a view outside( another wall with pipes hanging off,and a lean to roof,diy ed box section welded to the middle off the balustrade. Two big aircon units standing otherside of the balcony floor.we was expecting a bar at the hotel,that also shows and in the itillerary says that their is a bar,it turns out to be vending machines,with tins of beer.the staff were great with no fault there five star but from what i book was not what i received, too me it felt false advertising.

Our stay at Hotel Epidavros was great!
Easy to find with great signage and stopping bay out front to unload your luggage.
The guy at the front desk was amazing and helped me locate my flight details with a quick phone call, I had my boarding passes and he had checked me in within minutes!
The area is perfectly safe, we walked home from the centre of the city after dark without concerns.
You will see here in Athens what you have seen in Sydney Or any other large city.
The room was perfect, a good size with everything clean, even the sheets were monographed. Aircon great, shower and bathroom size perfect for us (2)
There is paid parking in the local streets but we managed to find a park twice on the street quite close. A short walk up the street takes you to a main road which leads to the centre, easy walk around 15mins or jump on a bus. Go anywhere with that ticket on any public transport for the next 90mins.
Great value Hotel Epidavros!
We’ll be back!

The room was really small. The cleanliness was not at it's best and they didn't clean the rooms everyday.

The hotel is located in a very run down area.
- No parking on site.
Walking the streets at night doesn't feel very safe as there are plenty of homeless people around the hotel and some can be aggressive when asking for money.
- The metro is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.

- The hotel room smelled of smoke and was very humid.
- The air condition remote did not work and the solution was to get up on a chair to plug in the AC and unplug it when it got too cold.
- There is a balcony, but there is only standing room, no chairs to sit on and the AC unit fan takes up all the space and emmits heat and noise, thus don't go on the balcony.
- You are asked to leave you room keys at reception when leaving the property, but the don't ask for ID when you return and ask for the keys.
- No safe in the room.
- washroom size is small with a tiny shower. I challenge you not to get the shower curtain stuck on you when taking a shower. The floor will get soaked as well.

- Hotel did the job of our over night stay, but don't plan to stay more than one night here.

We enjoyed our stay at Epidavros. The staff are excellent and always willing to help. The room was good. The bathroom was a little dated but it was clean and it did the job required of it. The balcony was a welcome facility. Air conditioning worked well. There was a kettle and TV in the room. Much is said about the area surrounding the hotel. We had no problems. We used the local food take away shops which were great value for money. The area might be a little intimidating to some but I don’t think you’re likely to encounter any problems as long as you’re keeping yourself to yourself. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Epidavros and would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Lovely staff and great breakfast. No wifi in the rooms during our stay, but we could use it in the lobby. All of our taxi drivers were incredibly nervous to come into the area and warned about the dangers multiple times. Some escorted us into the hotel they were so nervous for us.

The location is next to a third world looking flea market. The pictures where’s taken looking at a much better side of building. The shower is 24 inch by 29 inch. No exhaust fan and no floor water barrier which means the toilet area gets completely watered.

First day we were given a very small room with 2x2 ft shower and wash basin in a cubicle without room enough to move arms. Not fit enough for a back-packer accommodation. When requested moved to a slightly better room next day, but very small; not enough to keep the luggage. The final day of our 4 day stay, there was no water at all; no shower, no toilet, not even to wash the face. The breakfast is very ordinary. there are lots of migrant workers hangs around the area, though noting happened it is bit threatening. But the staff were helpful. I urge, AVOID this hotel if you can.

The hotel itself is amazing, very clean, good breakfast, fast WiFi. The staff had helpful recommendations about local transit in Athens, as well as suggestions for day trips. It's extremely close (especially by taxi or Metro) to all of the main sites in Athens, but you should definitely take a taxi back to the hotel if you're going to be returning after dark.

The staff were friendly. We had a family room. Both bathrooms were really small. We were warned not to go out to the area to the left of the hotel... This left us feeling quite vulnerable. The hotel was an odd shape with odd windows in strange places, making any noise from other rooms echo through our room. Towels were changed daily. Beds were made nicely each day. No safe in the rooms, but we did have 2 fridges. Breakfast was simple but ok. The area that the hotel was in, although we had to avoid certain streets, was close to Omonia Square which was great for tour buses, metro, shopping and had 2 very good bakeries and a couple of good restaurants. It is, however a place rife with pick pockets and beggars, so keep a close watch on your valuables.

Average hotel in dodgy area

Epidavros is an average hotel in a dodgy area of Athens and you need to be careful walking back to the hotel night (during the day was not great either).
The room we were put in was nothing like those shown in the photos on Expedia - it was old, dated and quite small. Due to a window that didn't seal properly in the bathroom we had cigarette smoke wafting in throughout the night, and there was lots of noise from the street.
The free internet was quite bad and often didn't work in the room.
The breakfast was great, they offer luggage storage (although it's not very secure) and the staff are reasonably helpful.

Staff really try to make up for lacking conditions

The hotel employees really tried to make our stay great, but there were a few things with the room that were unfixable. The bathroom door latch had a problem staying closed, but worst was the shower. The curtain barely covered me while I was showering and it kept sticking to me because there wasnt much room.

The neighborhood feels very sketchy, dirty and I constantly had to keep my hand on my wallet. Smokey, sewage smell and homeless vagrants constantly wander around. The hotel is a short easy walk to Omonia station so that is the upside.

Clean, central, cheap but not good area.

The only downside of this place is the location. While handy walking distance to Omonia Square with access too buses, taxies and metro, the area is surrounded by druggos and you have to keep your wits about you.

If you want clean, central, cheap and have street smarts, you will be OK. Oh, you may have to put up with crass Anericans fighting and a whole floor party that included a league of nation revellers. The start of the tourist season!

We loved our time at Epidavros Hotel! It was a quick walk to and from Syntagma Square! The staff were very friendly and hospitable! We came home every evening to a clean room. The breakfast was delicious and it was the perfect place for our time in Athens. The area might not be suitable for a single female to navigate at night, but you could easily get a taxi arranged at the front desk if traveling alone!

The room was smaller than we expected. The bed should've been double, but it was twin. We could hear all the street noise in the room. The view from the room was awful. But, the room was clean, they cleaned every day, changed towels daily etc. The breakfast was the same every day, wasn't a big variety, but it was ok. The best thing was, that it was very close to every landmark. The room had TV, clean refrigerator, and air conditioning. Altogether it is worth the price, if you don't have too much money and big expectations.

Room looked nothing like the photos and the bathroom was so small and poorly designed that it made my last cruise ship bathroom seem luxurious. Lots of street noise, and it easily penetrated the single-pane window so remember to bring your earplugs. Extremely hard beds so I didn't sleep very well. No, it's not the nicest area but I didn't feel unsafe. The breakfast was actually nice with breads, fruit, yogurt, tomatoes, olives, cheese, coffee etc. Having said that, rooms are expensive in Athens and this is a decent and clean place near the centre if you're on a budget.

Nice staff but in bad part of town

Epidavros hotel was ok. The hotel and room were and neat and clean . There's a bar down stairs, and a buffet breakfast in the morning. The hotel is in what I would consider a very unsafe part of Athens . It can be considered one of the worst part of the city. Although the staff were friendly and the hotel was budget friendly it's not a hotel I would recommend given the Location. Also the wifi never worked during our entire stay there. The wifi was only in the hotel lobby .

Our reservation was handled carefully and our airport pick up is right on time.

Thomas, the hotel receptionist is very well informed and very helpful to all our needs.

Our beddings are changed everyday and room is cleaned everyday as well.

If your trip is on a budget, I would greatly recommend this hotel.

Perfect for Athens

We stayed in the Epidavros on our way to and from a Greek Island and we loved it. It is the perfect location for the Metro, which we used to get to Pireaus. It is walking distance to The Acropolis and all the other amazing Athenien treasures. The rooms we had were on different floors each stay, both were fantastic. There is a basic breakfast provided and the staff were all fabulous. We were travelling with our young child and it was perfect.

The people in reception were wonderful. They were very helpful with directions and things to do. However, the neighborhood was awful. It was sketchy and dirty. This was the sketchiest place that I have ever stayed. The way the people stared at me made me very uncomfortable (and I was with my boyfriend). During the day it's fine but I would not suggest going out at night around here. The hotel is clean and in order, the beds are a little firm and the pillows flat, but the people are great

Area looks rundown but I always felt safe. Always plenty of people around. Just watched ordinary people out making a living. Not your false \"touristy\" picture of Greece but as it really is. No problems whatsoever.

Pictures doesnt show the reality of the hotel

The hotel is old and in a bad Neighborhood a lot of hobo crash near the hotel. The breakfast area can only receive 10 people so you have to eat in your room or downstairs in the lobby

Visiting Athens

This hotel has a good location for visiting Athens, pretty much in the middle of all city tours and public transportation. Price is right and staff is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Room is what you pay for. Close to all proximities

Simple. Clean. Adequate. It's close to shops, restaurants, cafes and more. Great service, nice breakfast.

OK hotel

As many of you do, I chose the cheapest hotel that included breakfast. The breakfast was decent (bread and jam). The area around the hotel is not very nice, nothing bad happened but be aware that it is dirty (around the hotel) and there are some sketchy people. The hotel was very central, very easy access to all around Athens (+++ points) !

Reasonable rate hotel close to the metro

The staff was friendly. We were able to leave our bags there when we went on a tour. It was a little difficult to find. Close to Omonia metro but tricky to find using only a map. I suppose most people have gps. The breakfast was good. The room was adequate, clean, not spacious.

Absolutely excellent hotel for the price

Excellent place to stay on a budget. Extremely high value for price. The proximity to the city center is the best part. The rooms are very comfortable with an adequate amount of space. The staff is extremely friendly and the free breakfast is not bad - basics: cereal, greek yogurt, some pastries, bread, fruit, etc. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is not the best but the main street is a block away and is safer and south of that is nicer
