As said before by others, the street and neighborhood is very bad. Even if there’s a police station in the same street 100 meters away. Many junkies and homeless people. Who also several at night so we woke up many times. The upside is that a main metro station is close by.
Reception staff very friendly, breakfast crew is helpful.
Elevators are tiny and extremely slow.

Athens has many different states of maintained or gentrified states of buildings along its roads. You can have a beautiful looking hotel on one side of the street and then 30m away on the other side of the street you can have a nice looking hotel that is beside a run down park that drug addicts use to get high and pass out. That is where Athens Choice is located, beside that park. It did not feel unsafe because there is a high police presence, but it is unattractive. Also, the hotel stated they have laundry facilities, they do not, but there are many laundromats close by. The breakfast was decent, but no hot items except for hard boiled eggs. You can walk to the Acropolis from here in about 20 mins.

The staff was excellent but the hotel didn't have laundry or a gym as advertised. Elevators were scary and need a makeover. Some of the noises from outside were unnerving as the area has many drug users and prostitutes in the area.

Front desk staff was always helpful, especially Amiran, who always patiently answered our questions and tried to give us information and assistance. The breakfast left a LOT to be desired, but at least it was included. The room was spotless, bathroom tiny and the air conditioning worked very well.

The staff was great especially the guy that worked day shift. He had them open breakfast early for us and walked us 2 blocks to where our bus was leaving for our tour. Breakfast was very good and comfortable room and close to attractions.

The hotel is very great for what it is. As two students travelling on a budget, we really liked it. The neighbourhood is a little rough, but for the price it's understandable. The breakfast was filling, but just make sure you time it well since the dining area can fill up quickly. All and all if you would like a short stay in Athens at a reasonable price next to a metro connection, it's a solid choice.

Athens Choice is suitable for a quick, budget-friendly stay if you’re not expecting much beyond the basics. The location is definitely the highlight, close to hop-on/hop-off bus stops and surrounded by plenty of great food options.The staff were genuinely kind and extremely welcoming, which was a refreshing touch and one of the better aspects of our stay. Unfortunately, the breakfast didn’t live up to the hype in other reviews. It was served cold, and the boiled eggs looked like they’d been made the day before. We ended up grabbing something nearby in the square. Overall, if you're just passing through and prioritize location over comfort, it does the job. But don’t come expecting a full 3-star experience.

Nice place to spend the night or two.

Easy to get to and from the trains. Staff super friendly. Asked for restaurant recommendations and we were never disappointed.
It’s quiet area at night so had no problem sleeping but the beds were a little harder than I like. That would be the only negative.

The hotel is very clean and the staff is wonderful. Breakfast is nice. The hotel is located very close to the metro and good restaurants a 5 minutes walk. The metro takes you to Acropolis/Parthenon and Greek people are very nice. The only thing is the area around the hotel is full of graffiti and it’s dirty but all Athens is like that. We saw 5 star hotels areas the same. However, police headquarters is 200 meters from the hotel. We were told homeless people never bother anyone and the area is safe. We felt safe all the time even walking at night.

Excellent customer service from the front desk, very knowledgeable, caring and nice, specially Ross.
Very tiny room. Bed sheets twin size for a queen bed. The bathroom is very tiny. The shower is a big joke. No shower head hanger. To take a “shower” you have to be holding the shower head with one hand and soap yourself with just one hand. No curtains in the shower, obviously the water splashes everywhere making a big pool to be standing. The “bar” just exists in pictures. Rooms no soundproof. You can hear a pin drop. Elevator just for one person and a small carryon at a time. Bad neighborhood. No recommended at all!

Omonia is a Dirty, Run-down area!!

The Dirty, Run-Down area full of Homeless people and Hookers ruins this Hotel’s location!! Room is small but adequate for an overnight stay. I’d skip this area if you’re in Athens for a few days though as Monastiraki, Plaka and Acropolis precincts have a much more pleasant atmosphere with a huge selection of outdooor cafe’s, bars, restaurants & shopping!

It was OK for one night. Cons: the shower stall is tiny and uncomfortable. The breakfast was very basic. The area outside seems a bit shady and it was very noisy at night. I saw a syringe on the ground right outside the hotel entrance. Pros: the hotel is only 20 mins away from the Acropolis; plenty of dining options; free street parking available.

If youre only concern is the budget this is a reasonable stay. Otherwise, the facilities, the breakfast, the elevators and the overall unsafe surrounding area are terrible experience.

That being said, the staff are attentive and helpful but 2/5 is the highest i could give this hotel.

The hotel is quaint and clean, exactly what is shown on the photos. Great value for money and near Omonia square metro. The staff are really nice and accommodating. The only really concern like most reviews is the surrounding. There are a lots of interesting people (hobos and druggies) hanging around the area.

Great hotel for the price. The shaft was excellent. They gave us great dining recommendations and are very helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend it. Area can be a little sketchy from what I saw. There is a park that borders the hotel, where several homeless folks congregate, sleep, etc. I felt safe, as I was traveling with a larger group.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Omonia. Close to the metro station and major tourist attractions of central Athens. The area is rough but if you ignore the homeless and drug additions then it is a great place for a night or two. The buffet breakfast is basic and fills the need before exploring the city. Enjoy!

Hotel is in a terrible neighbourhood. When we arrived the police were chasing people down the street, the was chanting and it sounded like a small riot going on. The taxi driver said there were a lot of problems in the area. Check in was fine and room was clean apart from un emptied bins. Lucky we were only staying for one night

O staff não foi muito amigável, a cama era pouco confortável. O chuveiro só tinha protecção de um lado, o que era impossível não encharcar o piso. Pequeno almoço muito limitado. Tinha bons acessos para transporte, e boa zona comercial. A vista parecia que estávamos numa zona de guerra, zona muito mal cuidada, pela própria filosofia da cidade e dos cidadãos. Zona de sem abrigos, drogados e prostituição, no entanto não tivemos problemas nenhuns, nem nunca fomos abordados. Tem uma esquadra de polícia junto ao hotel.

Good choice for budget staying in Athens

In the city center, close to the metro station and excellent connection to the sights, but in the streets behind the hotel there are suspicious persons, but we do not had problems with them.
The rooms are small but clean. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was fine with fresh products.

It it close to Omonia square, the hotel is in a shabby area and the hotel recently renovated and it is great. The elevators are reaaaly small and the beds are kinda bigger for the room. Staff was really. Helpful and friendly. Breakfast was meager... Eggs, milk and cornflakes, bread and jam and juice and fruit.....ur better off paying 5euros around the corner for a good full meal. Its affordable.

The hotel itself is was fine for a 2 night stay. The breakfast was a lot of canned and potted stuff. Not a lot of choices: tomatoes olives feta boiled eggs. The neighborhood was scary. Lots of homeless men. Felt like I was in a Squatters camp.

Lovely hotel in one of the most unlovely areas of Athens, but then most of Athens, in the 20 years since I was last there, has gone downhill and looks like a slum. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean. I could have done with a different view from the small balcony, (a small park where homeless junkies greeted me every morning I opened the curtain to see them shooting up) but that’s not the hotels failt.

After reading some ofthe reviews for the hotel did worry me, but i dont know what all the fuss was about. All of the staff at the hotel were wonderful and welcoming, the bar man recommended places to eat and drink, the receptionists were always friendly. Yes the hotel is in a bit of a dodgy street, but just keep your wits abiut you and theres nothing to worry about as no one will approach you. The hotel is located near some lovely cafes and the metro, within 20 minutes of all the main sights of athens. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Of course, we will get what we pay for. And the hotel is relatively cheaper compared to the other ones, however, the location, it is on is not so good and the surroundings are horrendous. The night I stayed, people outside the hotel are fighting by throwing stones at each other and the glass bottles with a fire. It was a panic moment and later I understood that it was for a football match they fought. This was my experience.

Do not expect a hostel. It's a hotel.

This IS NOT A HOSTEL. The only reason this gets deemed a hostel is because they put some bunkbeds in some of the bed rooms. We've stayed at various hostels so we understand generally the experience. As described already in numerous other reviews, very clean, good staff, area can feel unsettling but didn't really feel and threat to our safety at all. But basic stuff from hostels like daily events, communal spaces for people to meet up aren't there. We weren't even allowed to bring our own alcohol into the common area because there is a bar on premise that they try to force you to buy from and the nights we were there was completely empty. Lockers are not in your room (on 1st floor) so be aware of that and they charge you 1 Euro per night to use locker (cost is inconsequential but it's a bit of a nuisance to even charge this. breakfast is basic but not bad.

I stayed in a 4 bed woman's room and there was not much space for each of us. However, the room was clean, the people were sweet, and I felt safe in the hotel. The neighborhood looks a bit questionable but it the surrounding food places and the businesses that are open have amazing operators! I was pleasantly surprised but would have preferred to stay in a room made for 2 where there is much more space.

Great budget hostel in dodgy neighborhood

I really like this hostel for the new condition, ensuite bathroom, comfortable bunk beds , air con, daily towels service and lavish breakfast included. Very clean and modern. However the main drawback is its location in a seedy part of town. While central to many sights (short walk to omonia square metro stop which is one or two stops to syntagma square, acropolis and monastiriki etc ) the street itself is dirty and full of shuttered store and graffiti with people loitering at night who look like drug addicts and the like. I practically sprint my way from the metro to the hostel every night I stayed there. If you are a guy or traveling in a group it may be a safe choice.

Nice hostel with small rooms of 4, so you aren't sharing with too many people. Beds are comfortable, shower is decent, rooms have air conditioning. There are lockers (Not in the rooms) for storing luggage during the day and breakfast was nice. Location isn't ideal as it is on a bit of a dodgy street, but it is walking distance from the centre and the acropolis.

I would not go back here again. This hotel was very uncomfortable. Our bed was a rock. The area, and all of Athens really, is very sketchy. The shower we got was for dogs, it was so small and the shower head was so low. The elevator was small and did not even have a door.
The staff was okay. The older guy with the glasses was very pretentious. Other staff helped us great. The bald guy with glasses was nice and the younger girl that worked the bar was very very nice.
Overall I did not get what I expected.

Near subway, right downtown.

Loads of eating places, from cheap to more fancy. I did not have much time and was not feeling so good, so I bought a \"hop on hop off\" ticket from the hotel reception and went to Omonia place where the metro/subway station is and where I waited for my tour bus. Ticket is good for two days and takes you to all the interesting spots/museum/Acropolis/shopping plaza, etc. Did not have to fight my way in busy subway trains, change connections, etc. I sat on the bus roof top, enjoying the great weather and taking pictures. No hassle.

Good transport hub and clean room at a good price

The area was run down, especially behind the hotel, which was the view from our balcony, but the room was fine. Very helpful staff - let us check in really early when tied and unwashed from overnight ferry. Local museums great and also food. Recommend the Cretan restaurant in shopping arcade 5 mins walk away.

My stay was good! It's great for sleep and showering and storing your belongings. I was only into the room to sleep and shower. It's very convienent to the metro to get the city center and all the sightseeings. Perfect for backpackers!!

Pleasant hotel in dodgy area

The room was clean and ideal for a single traveller. Bed was very comfortable. Ensuite had a shower with supervptessure and hot watwr but no shower curtain and shower head could only be hand held. I checked and reception said that was the same for each room.

Great for the money

The hotel in general is great, the staff speaks English including the cleaning and restaurant people, they are all very nice, hotel street is not very nice, but it´s just 2 blocks from the nice streets and 3 blocks from a Metro station, plenty of food at breakfast, beds are comfortable and clean, plenty of bath towels. In general a great experience.

The staff was nice and very helpful. The rooms appeared recently rehabbed. We were on 2nd floor which was noisy due to the public toilets for the bar downstairs. Also, bathroom TIINY but totally functional. Not terrible by any means. Just a little inconvenient but priced well.

Its newly build hotel. I stayed here for 2 nites. I am fully satisfied. From room to reception and breakfast. Everything is fine. Its value for money. I was not expecting this hotel to be so nice. It was clean, comfortable, and Anthony (the front desk attendant) was extremely helpful. He was willing to answer any and every question. Hostel was amazing for solo travel! Although it wasn't the greatest area, everything was in walking distance along busy streets and pedestrian paths towards downtown. Buffet style breakfast was a big bonus! Plus you get a welcome shot of ouzo the first night.

decent hotel in bad area

Hotel guaranteed our room and we checked in very late. The room was clean but staff was not friendly. The room has no Ac remote , phone or even a glass to drink water.

Worth the value

I walked here at night alone without a hassle from locals. Did see some ladies of the night who don't bother people but hey, this is a big city. If you can't handle that, don't go to a big city. I felt safe and it was easy to get around. Excellent service and clean and modern. Huge lockers available for rent 1 Euro daily.

Nice hostel

I enjoyed my stay here. The condition of the building was excellent. The room and bathroom were very clean. I got a clean towel everyday. My only complaint is that the bunk beds squeak with even the tiniest movement. The breakfast was delicious and included bread, meat, Greek salad, yogurt, cereals, juice, and coffee. It was easy to book tours with the reception. It's not in the best part of town, but it feels very safe.

Great Experience, would definently stay here again

I travel a lot and and I'll tell you, I got this room for $25 a night (private room/ double bed), it was fantastic!! The hotel itself is really nice, the room was so clean and in good condition, which as a traveler you know it is really relieving to travel so far and finally have a nice little place to rest.
They also have woman's dormitories which when they ran out of vacancies I tried the dorm (for a first time) and even the dorm was nice. Small, but it was very clean, had a patio to smoke. The reception told me they only let nice woman stay there, so it was as good of an experience as it could be.
The hotel has a very nice little buffet breakfast. The food is good. Greek and American food. I'm American so I lived the cereals lol
The hotel is an out 5 blocks from Omonia Square which has a major train line. Also, Ernou Street connects to Omonia and you can take Ernou to the Acropolis and Syntagma Square.

A stay in Athens

My stay was quite lovely. The hotel itself is very nice, however it is in a neighborhood that is a bit questionable however if I'm being honest most neighborhoods in the city center are a bit questionable to say the least. The room was a bit small however very comfortable (note I booked a double twin room with a friend). The breakfast was good but very basic, and the hotel staff were friendly and always ready to help. I defiantly recommend staying in this hotel if you want to be close to the city center or plan on mostly walking or taking the metro to get around.

I dont like bunkbed.

people say that the location is bad. I dont think so. Compared to richmond or oakland california its nothing. The breakfast is good its has greek yogurt with honey, greek cheese, olives, sesame bread for authentic greek breakfast.. Plus sausage, salad, cheese, cereals and eggs. the facility is clean. Free drink for first night. the laundry is 10€ for 5kilos. The only bad part about this hotel is the bank bed.
