If you are looking for something off the beaten path, this is a perfect place. The building has a character due to a combination of old and new features and plenty of art (paintings and sculptures) throughout the building. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, providing helpful tips on what tourist attractions to see when in order to avoid the crowds. Typical Greek breakfast was delicious and filling. You can walk to the subway Omonia station in 5-7 minutes and 15-20 to the Monastiraki Square. Unfortunately, you will see some homeless encampments on your way and dumpsters in alley ways, but that is common for any big city. For the cleanliness I'm giving it only 4 starts due to the bathrooms - ours could really use some bleach around the tub. But overall, very happy with the stay in a very convenient location for a reasonable price.

challenging stay

this was tough. Not a terrible room but it’s a very challenging area, a lot of people doing drugs definitely not a great place for kids. we just took a taxi anytime we had to leave but it was hard to get taxis and hard for the people to call for a taxi. The lights in the bathroom went through the wall where there were exposed wires Seemed quite dangerous. The person upfront was really nice

The hotel is dilapidated, the blinds were old and broken, the seal around the bath wasn't stuck down. The mattress cover was a duvet!!! The silver in the wash hand basin has peeled off and the two chairs were plastic. Overall it was a dump, in it's hay day it was probably a nice hotel but it hasn't been maintained which is a shame.
We were due to spend another night after our cruise but I cancelled it and booked another hotel as there was no way I was going to stay there another night, even if it was free.

Not sure how Expedia rated this a 4* hotel. Google maps rated it a 1*, which would be far more accurate. The minibar fridge didn't work. There are no coffee making facilities in the room, although the description didn't state that there would be. There was no info sheet about the hotel, and no instructions for the safe. These are things that would be standard in a 4*. I guess the 1* price should have given the game away.

Nice boutique hotel

Nice boutique hotel in an okay neighborhood. The room was a bit plain and dated, but served our purposes well. The neighborhood was a bit rough, but we (husband & wife) felt safe. We had two great meals at local kebab restaurants. If you are looking for an inexpensive, quiet hotel within a quick subway ride or longer walk to attractions, this is your hotel!

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The room 303 was comfortable if not a bit noisy with a local local disco/ nightclub. It’s location is about a 5-10 minute walk to the local metro station. There is a good choice at breakfast. The area around the hotel is a bit rough and ready but that can be true for a lot of areas in Athens itself. There is no on site parking but there is a paid car park a 2-3 minute walk away.

The service was excellent. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The neighborhood while centrally located, didn’t feel entirely safe but we had a taxi pick us up and drop us off when we ventured out so it was fine. Overall a good experience. The hotel staff were super nice & accommodating.

Friendly staff at check in counter and cleaning staff. Room was terrible, so much noise from outside, if you're a light sleeper, AVOID! I had trouble sleeping all night and I'm an easy sleeper.
The room is supposed to be sound proof, it definitely isn't.
Check in was at 2pm but room was not ready until almost 3pm. When we got to the room, the cleaners were still inside and they looked at us confused and shocked that we were standing there.
Booked for 2 Double beds ended up being 1 double, 1 single and 1 single roll out that was so uncomfortable, you could feel the wire frame. And the blanket they gave for this bed felt like an old curtain shoved into a blanket cover.
Dodgey area around the hotel, felt very unsafe so avoid walking back late at night. It is near a homeless area and lots of homeless people wandering around.

We ended up staying here after our transportation to Santorini was delayed. The service from the staff here is unmatched. The staff ended up doing more for us than our own travel agency did! They helped us book flights, spoke to representatives on the phone that couldn’t understand us, booked cabs for us (and reminded us that it was daylights saving time here in Greece), mapped out a day of sightseeing for us during our delay. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to be around during such a frustrating time. Not to mention the room was lovely;comfy beds, spacious, pristine bathrooms and even a balcony! Staff is amazing, super kind and hospitable. Met with smiles our entire stay. Five stars all around.

As they say about the hidden hole in the wall, so was Art Hotel, not in the best of location, but an amazing hotel & super services. Special mention about Tesos at the reception. We had stay at Art during Athens Marathon event, the hotel provided early breakfast to the participants by opening time at 5 AM, that was really commendable. A quick walk to Osmonia Metro, but avoidable as in many metropolis (area), stay away during late hours. .

The hotel is at least close enough to all the tourist sites but the neighborhood was less than desirable and there were no good restaurants nearby. And we did like the rooftop pool - super cool and secluded.
As for the room, we must have been in a remodeled section of the hotel because it didn't match the look of the rest of the hotel. I love modern decor but the industrial concrete ceiling and walls that were devoid of any "art", a rock hard mattress covered with a lonely white sheet topped unceremoniously with 2 flat pillows, and a single, basic desk were a little too Spartan for a place called Art Hotel. Also, one of the built-in cabinet doors had a broken hinge and rested on the floor. But the worst part was the annoying sound of rushing water through the pipes that happened every 20 seconds (literally, we counted) that was so loud we couldn't even ignore it with jet lag tiredness. On a positive note, we did like the the modern looking bathroom - coolest part of the whole room.

Hotel has lots of character. Don't be put off by the outside. It is clean, spacious and comfortable. Great location to walk to Syntagma Square and it is close to a Hop On-Hop Off stop. The staff were great, always friendly and gave us tips on things to do. We had a very early reservation for a ferry and they accomodated us with breakfast at 5:30 am.
It was a little noisy as we faced the busy street but since we were so busy during the day we were exhausted and slept right through it. If you are a light sleeper you might consider asking for a room in the back.

The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to food, shopping and attractions. They offer a great airport pickup service at a very fair price. The free breakfast is excellent - meats, cheeses, breads, juice, fresh fruit and more. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Comfort is the weakness of this hotel. The beds were passable, the pillows were not good and the air conditioner did not cool the room properly - perhaps is was not powerful enough for the room but we left it at 20c overnight and it only cooled the room from 26 to 24c (about 75 Farenheit), and did not seem to remove the humidity, so a little uncomfortable. The room was also very dark, one of the pot lights was hanging from a wire and the walls require a new coat of paint. I think that in a small room dark paint colour is not the best choice. The door handle was loose and fell off if the door was closed with any authority (we brought this to the attention of the front desk but it was not addressed). Also, the bathroom sink did not drain properly. I would also not recommend the triple room - it is really only large enough for 2. The final point is that the lovely, large, glass bathroom door did not have any type of a latch so you could place it in the closed position but there was no way to prevent someone from wandering in. We feel that the upside of the hotel does outweigh the downside and we do recommend it.

But it seriously wasn’t bad at all. Nobody bothered my wife and I when we went walking at night. I found it looked rough but was fine. Great hotel.

The only thing I didn’t like that I was charge for taxi. I ask a guy at the reception to order taxi, he couldn’t and told me to go look for the taxi my self. I did but when my friends was checking out because I left earlier they told them to pay. I don’t get why I had to walk to the center to get my self a taxi. My friends couldn’t explained to them because they don’t speak English very well. But that receptionist guy knew and still charge us. I don’t get it why.

We booked a normal room at first and once we arrive it was not what we had hoped. We spoke the the lovely gentleman at the desk and asked about upgrading to a suite which we were able to do for very reasonable price. The suite room was delightful with your own jaccuzi. The only small downside was that the double bed was still two single beds pushed together with a comforter on top,although that wasn't really an issue as it was still comfortable! The best part of the hotel is the staff, I have never met more helpful staff, from booking us trips and finding out information for us, advising us on places to go and the best ways to go about it, food choices, places to eat,everything, they are fantastic!!

Our hotel stay was great! The lady at the front desk said if we emailed our boarding passes to her that she would print then for us. The next morning we left at 5am and as we were checking out she had prepared all of our boarding passes and had each envelop labeled for us with our flights on them. She went above and beyond and it was much appreciated!

If your looking for a fancy hotel I would not suggest this. However, if you like a friendly and cozy atmosphere I would say this is your place. The staff was beyond accommodating and lovely to chat with. Breakfast was delicious and a plentiful buffet. Overall has an amazing stay.

The hotel has some lovely Art Deco features and we had a very generous balcony. The manager was very helpful and informative but terribly busy and could have used some assistance. The hotel in general was a little run down. The breakfast was included and offered lots of choices and was regularly re-stocked.

Initially they gave us a room which was like 2 star.
Then they gave us another room which was OK but all facilities were not available.
WiFi didn't work throughout our stay and also room phone wasn't working at all.
Breakfast was OK , not many option for vegetarian people.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good budget hotel

Excellent service at this quirky little hotel, and in reasonable walking distance of most of the must sees in Athens...But - the areas it was in was a bit down and out, many prostitutes and also saw drug users on surrounding streets. Probably not rest for families with young kids as a result.

Internet was good. Location was disappointing. The neighborhood was a little run down. The staff was helpful. We were in the "new" part of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft. The rooms look good but are impractical. The design of almost everything, from the lights to the ridiculous shower that floods the room. We had to use the wand in the tub to get washed since we didn't want to flood the room every time we took a shower. Breakfast was basic, no wow factor.

Convenient, budget hotel with amazing service

The rooms and hotel in general aren't luxury and the neighbourhood is slightly dodgy. That said, we had no problem at all in the neighbourhood and the location was good for walking distance to many of the tourism sites.

The rooms and amenities are basic and clean, but nothing flash. The service, however, was absolutely outstanding. You would struggle to find such amazing, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff at 5 star hotels. They really went out of their way to give us information and advice, as well as storing our luggage overnight and giving us their insight.

The hotel itself, in terms of cleanliness, etc., was great, and the staff was nice/helpful. However, the location was not ideal. Not much in the way of restaurants and shopping in the immediate area. We were also there during a series of strikes and protests in the city, and the location didn't feel completely safe. We did not experience anything concerning right around the hotel, but we did have trouble once finding a cab willing to take us to the neighborhood. It is possible that as the overall climate in Athens changes, this will be a good option.

Very friendly staff, definitely suitable for families also. Neighborhood a bit odd, but it seems Athens is that way in general.
Room is a bit older, but was very comfortable, fixings a bit older but all still in working order.
Breakfast was pretty good: breads, greek yoghurt, olives, feta, cold meats, canned fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, little sausages, coffee, tea.

The staff was very helpful and attentive. The rooms were moderately clean: wouldn't walk around barefoot. The biggest problem I had with the hotel was the location. Any redeeming features of the hotel were void by the anxiety I felt due to the surrounding area. It looks as if I entered a third world country. Every building was tagged and falling apart. If I were told I was in Syria, I would have believed it.

Not a great location but a good hotel

While a little jaded, the hotel is is artistically furnished and decorated making for a pleasant stay. Reception is manned 24/7 and the staff are eager to help with information and useful advice. We left at 5 am. on our last day and a light breakfast was provided. While the area is a a bit run down, it is close enough to the Omonio Metro station and in a convenient position to flag down a taxi when needed. There was a plentiful supple of outlets in the room to plug in computers, etc. and the wi-fi was strong enough for fast downloads although it was not available a few times. We stayed for three nights and would stay here again. Definitely recommended for travellers on a budget.

Delightful hotel

For starters, the hotel actually has some wonderful art in it - and the staff were a joy to deal with. When a taxi driver tried to rip us off, the woman who owned the hotel came outside and argued with him, and insisted on paying him until we could pay her back (as we didn't have change). Every single staff member we dealt with went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, and they offer guests free coffee and orange juice in the reception area.

We stayed at the hotel twice, on the way to and from one of the Greek islands. Although we actually were only next to the room we'd initially stayed in, the room seemed much better- bigger and with a better bathroom. It seems like the rooms can vary a bit, but the better rooms are truly excellent.

Our stay was very comfortable and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The staff are exceptionally nice and friendly, the rooms comfortable, spacious and clean, and the breakfast good .I would use it again. Very welcoming hotel!

We only spent two nights and one full day in Athens and just chose the perfect hotel. Even though we arrived very late, Monsieur Michel welcomed us with open arms and gave us a quick overview of how two see Athens in just one day. While the room for the three of us was adequate, it was clean, everything worked and we even had double windows to block out the street noise and a double A/C that kept us cool. The breakfast was wonderful and the hotel manager very warm and caring. She went from table to table to ask how everything was. My only complaint would be the quality of the coffee. I only saw Nescafe which might be customary in Greece.

Great place, but a long walk to the sites

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. But be prepared to pay for a pretty steep cab ride from the airport. We were all willing and able to do the long hike to the sites, but it was a good 2.5 miles away. The very accomodating staff was ready for us to walk in the door, with fresh coffe and water. We were on the overnight flight from JFK, and our rooms were ready early for us to drop our luggage and head out to see the city. We were only at this hotel one night, but it worked out great. Breakfast was even openned up early just for us since we had an early ferry ride the next day!

Great Experience All Around

First the location is perfect for Santorini as it is central to Fira and with easy access to the rest of the island. The staff was highly trained and totally approachable and responsive. They could not have been more professional. The breakfast was as good as any restaurant. And finally, the view cannot be more spectacular. All in all , I can definitely very highly recommend this hotel!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself lacked something. I had the feeling that there were very few staff and that it was run on a very low budget.
Also it was a metro journey away from all the tourist spots. There was very little to do at the hotel apart from sleeping.
Rooms were fine, clean, and each room seem to have a different theme which was very nice.
Breakfast was fine, but there was a smell coming from the kitchenette next to the dining room. Think they needed to have a bin with a lid on it.
All in all it was a pleasant stay. But the hotel definitely lacked amenities. As a result you felt you needed to spend the whole day away from the hotel.

An unbelievable value. Like a bit of Paris in Athens. The room had hardwood floors, a crystal chandelier, a beautiful marbe bathroom, and double French doors to block out the city noise. The Staff was so friendly and helpful! They even had continental breakfast ready for us at 4:45 AM because we had an early flight out of Athens.

A Good Choice for Athens

The hotel is located just a few blocks from the Omonia Metro station, providing quick, inexpensive transportation to just about all of metropolitan Athens, including the airport and the cruise port. The room was clean and comfortable, and included amenities such as a safe and a flat screen TV with many channels of programming, a few of which were in English. The air conditioning worked very well during the period of hot weather that Athens was experiencing during my visit. The bathroom was very spacious, well lit, and very clean. The complementary breakfast included a large variety of both hot and cold items. The hotel staff was exceptional: very friendly and accommodating, and they provided excellent dining and sightseeing recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Terrible hotel!!!

The customer service is the only thing that was good at this hotel! But if you are looking for cleanliness, comfort and quiet, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

The room was filthy - including toothpaste on the walls in bathroom etc! Bathtub and sink had not been thoroughly cleaned or disinfected properly. Sheets were not changed. When housekeeping cleaned the rooms, the dusting was not even done. I believe the only thing they did when cleaning the rooms was change the towels and wash the floor.

We were in 3 different rooms and the air conditioning did not work properly in all 3 rooms! After 4 hours of having it on high, it was still 28 degrees!

They served breakfast and it too, was terrible! You can't expect too much from a continental breakfast but what they served was substandard!

The bed was a kingsize boxspring on the floor with a queensize mattress on top! There were no extra pillows or blankets for us in all 3 rooms.

The people at the front desk tried very hard to keep us comfortable and satisfied but they did not have much to work with.

On a positive note, the taverna across the street was excellent!!! Live Greek music on Saturday and Sundays and the Greeks danced around our table! This made our stay so much more bearable! But I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

STAY HERE!!!

You will love staying at the AAH. The location is extremely central. Easy to access from the Airport via the Metro. The building is beautiful with its old facade but new boutique design inside. Excellent value. I will end up paying 3 x this amount in Spain for such a lovely design hotel. Very cool. Very clean. Cozy. Hot water, central heating, comfortable beds, yummy breakfast and all of that stuff that is basic but very important. But what is unbelievable at AAH is all of the lovely staff. As we were tourists on our own and interested in local advice, my friend and I asked the staff recommendations nearly daily. And these ladies (and gentlman) fell over themselves to be helpful and nice to us. They helped us organise reservations (for really lovely nights out) and transportation that was second to none My friend and I joked that we didnt know what the ladies were saying to the taxi drivers and restaurant hosts bc when we arrived we were treated like princesses. Seriously, there is no better place to stay in Athens. You will not be more comfortable, more taken care of in such a cool little boutique hotel anywhere else. And at an absolute bargain I might add. Thank you so much AAH! xoxo

the hotel is located in a central location to a lot of the sights walking distance, but it is in a bad area of the city and hotel is low budget. Service was great, but would not stay there again.

Hôtel pratique et agréable

Séjour agréable, chambre spacieuse, serviettes et room service effectué quotidiennement.
Emplacement de l'hôtel dans un quartier très peu recommandable. Transport à proximité (5/7 minutes à pieds) mais certaines rues sont à éviter.
Pas de restaurant. Petit-déjeuner diversifié mais qualité des produit peu optimale (pas de vrai jus d'orange, fromage/céréales industriel...)
Piscine petite et peu entretenue, un mégot de cigarette flottait dedans.
Personnel très sympathique et réception 24/24h et 7/7j.
Télévision de la chambre peu fonctionelle sauf si vous avez des comptes netflix etc...

Good hotel. Friendly personnel, good and clean room. Only downside is the location, close to some sus drug addict riddled areas, but not too bad. Didn’t feel dangerous, just run down, and be a bit careful.

Die Umgebung des Hotels macht einen heruntergekommenen Eindruck (leerstehende Gebäude, Abfall, Junkies...), aber die Lage ist sehr zentral. Preise/Leistung ist in Ordnung. Hat alles was man für zwei, drei Nächte braucht. Das Zimmer war sauber. Die Receptionisten waren nett und hilfsbereit, obwohl das einchecken ewig gedauert hat.

Excelente relación precio-calidad

Hotel céntrico de Atenas, a 600 metros de la plaza Omonoia, muy bien comunicada por el metro, de la plaza parten los diferentes buses turísticos, a los alrededores de la plaza hay numerosos restaurantes, de comida griega y mediterranea
