I did not like the location after dark .. felt a bit uncomfortable with family .. not much options / spread in the breakfast menu.. the need to carry breakfast cards each day felt unnecessary.

I didn't know that the hotel was in one of the dangerous parts of Athens. I felt unsafe even during the daytime. I saw people doing drugs in front of the hotel, syringes on the streets, and the smell was pungent. I couldn't even open the window.
Possible bed bugs, came back with a lot of bites all over my body after my trip.

Overall, place is good. We needed a place and Dunlin turn out better than other places with some drawbacks. We got a crib for baby that was great. Comfortable king size bed. 3 complains. Bathroom is amazing however it is messy to shower as it doesnt fully close. We were below the 8th floor were Bar is so it was noisy at night and morning. As mention in some reviews, it is kinda hidden from sight or main road so area is sketchy. I like to call it the diamond in the rough.

We had a very comfortable stay and were happy it was so close to the metro, which made it very easy to navigate the city, as well as restaurants and coffee shops. The hotel and rooms all appeared to have been recently refurbished, which was nice. The only things that were slightly off putting was having a room facing directly into some residential buildings and being directly below some guests that were stomping around very loudly. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay and made it easy to get around to the sites we wanted to see.

The safes did not work in our rooms. There were 5 of us in 5 rooms. Doors on the safe swung open and would not shut. Very inconvenient. Otherwise, the stay was good. The hotel arranged for all of our transfers to cruise, and airport which was very helpful. Staff was kind and helpful.

Some reviews state concerns about cleanliness, however our experience was quite clean. My main concern is about the location, it is not ideal for travelers interested in seeing the Parthenon or Flea Market. In this case I would recommend staying closer to the city center. While the walk isn’t too far, this area isn’t ideal and we were asked several times by different locals why we stayed here.

Dont let the Google Street view fool you. The hotel is amazing. Located in thr ethnic center of town you will find food for everyines liking. The local shops are excellent and well priced, no tourist prices here. And you can bargain for prices on things like, shoes, handbags and clothing. It is less than a 5 minute walk from Omonoia Square. And the roof top bar had an excellent view of the Acropolis. Would definitely stay here again.

The best thing about the hotel was the staff and service. They were very helpful, and seemed to come up with solutions no matter what the issue. For example, we bought breakfast for all 3 days of our stay, but we realized we would have to leave earlier than breakfast opens on one of the days. When we asked the staff, they immediately said they can make a breakfast box to-go for us that we could just pick up on our way out. That kind of service really can’t be beat.

Another great perk was the view from breakfast on the roof. 8 euros gives you a reasonable spread and a beautiful view.

The rooms were nothing special, and the view from the room window was actually kind of bad, since we were facing a broken-down hotel across the square. The room safe was broken, to the point where it couldn’t stay closed. The room was clean enough and cleaned every day though. A couple of times the towels we received had a few marks on them, but we had enough towels that we could just avoid using those.

Another downside is that finding the hotel can be a bit tricky the first time, because it’s inside a square and a car can’t go right up to the entrance. The area around it also isn’t the greatest - the roads are in poor condition and it seems like a lower-income area. We didn’t mind, however - we happen to be Bangladeshi, and this area actually had a lot of Bangladeshi people and food that we could easily eat. We felt comfortable, but we can see how others might not feel that way.

What a nice hotel!

The hotel isn´t located in the best neighborhood, but it is new and clean. The room was also very nice. Breakfast was served on the eighth floor, with great views of Athens! This is really a highlight.
The only downside was the breakfast itself: where the hell are the scrambled eggs, the breakfast standard all around the world? The only eggs were hard boiled and completely cold, as were the sausages. Instead of 100% orange juice, a cheap lemonade substitute is served.

Modern hotel, fairly comfortable room, good hot water, shower etc. Quiet from outside (apart from church bells) but sometimes noisy and echoey inside. Daily housekeeping even though we said do not disturb! Good hair dryer, fridge, safe. Everything you need, although lacking coat hooks despite plenty of space!
Breakfast very average, same every day. Quite a lot of choice (ham, salad, pie) but depends on tastes.
Roof terrace has amazing view but shame the bar is closed.
Could leave suitcases after check out and use top floor to change, freshen up etc. Staff obliging and helpful.
Area outside hotel and on main road fine, south on Menandrou felt a bit more dubious with syringes etc on the ground.
Shuttle service efficient and easier and cheaper than metro or taxi.
Excellent Attica bakery at Omonia station and small supermarkets etc there too.
Overall, a good value, well located stay for exploring Athens (& accessing Larissa station).

Nice bar next door with excellent cafe opposite them.the local environment not ideal, some homeless people around who did not in anyway bother us, and there were some other less desirable people who occupied the square in front of the church

Only thing is if you stay here only walk out of the hotel to the right side, as the left way street is usually very sketchy especially at night. Definitely recommend going to the rooftop bar at the hawks hostel at night it’s only a 5min walk from Dunlin hotel! Would definitely stay here again! Very close to the city centre and tourist attractions.

Great mid-range hotel, clean room, comfortable bed, and the roof bar (breakfast area in morning) is probably the best feature. Lovely view of the Acropolis.
The ONLY thing that lets it down is the location. The surrounding streets seem to be the rundown area of Athens, and from 8pm onwards you will have to walk past numerous people shooting-up in doorways. You are only a 10min walk away from Monastirakis And Psyrri which are great for food and nightlife, but you have to be careful not to tread on needles as you vacate the hotel. Real shame as otherwise it was perfect

Omonia square just a few minutes walk away, so handy for the metro and hop and stop busses. The area around the hotel is run down, lots of graffiti, quite shocking at first and reading other reviews i was a little concerned as people reported a lot of drug use, i personally saw this once,, but they were out of the way, and kept to themselves.
Cant fault the hotel.

The room was clean, no frills but sufficient for what we wanted. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was great (Georgia’s, Pavlos and Sofia) - very friendly and helpful.

The major downside is there are a lot of homeless and drug addicts in the surrounding streets. Also parking is nonexistent even to drop off luggage. You have to park around the corner at a garage which was an easy walk to the hotel. The Main Street is one way so if you miss the turn for the parking (we did), you may have to figure out how to circle back around. For us, a friendly man from another parking garage literally guided us to the right one. May this man receive a blessing for his kindness!

Info and images online respect the reality. Staff (paul, riya, bartenders, cleaning lady) was extra welcoming, friendly, professional and very helpful with recommendations on places to go for sightseeing and chilling even suggesting the right day to pay less or to pay nothing for tourist attractions. The terrace is a plus, you can chilly there anytime (even bringing your own boots or food), the view of acropolis and rest of the city there is great. The room was small but it had everything, no even small wardrobe though and I prefer sink and wc together while sync was in the open room. Room was clean and tidy everytime we got back, the entire building and rooms are brand new, u can smell a good fragrance in each corner. The location is great, walking distance basically from anything important in Athens but I'm afraid to say in that area you dont have the feeling to be safe even if you are (we saw often police there and even their office I believe was near)...I really hope in the future little by little the surraunding of the hotel will be as welcoming as the hotel...I recommend to walk always in the main street with lights!

The hotel is very cute, very compact room but we did book the cheapest option. Only fault was the main shower head was spraying over the cubicle and wetting the room and floor so had to use the hand attachment to shower. Breakfast is basic but lovely morning view from the rooftop. I would book again but will choose the queen room next time.

I loved the hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and made sure my stay was beyond amazing. It’s good to remember that Athens is a big city. As with any city you should be aware of your surroundings. I was told this was not a great part of town but I thought it was perfect. It didn’t feel unsafe to me and it was in walking distance to a lot of shopping and sights. Plus the rooftop bar is a great place to relax and unwind at the end of a long day. Highly recommend the Dunlin.

Area is unsafe, watch out for syringes!

The street this hotel is located on is awful and unsafe. Upon arrival before checking in we were harassed for money from a pushy junkie on the doorstep of the hotel. Our first walk outside of the hotel and we bumped into two junkies injecting into their arms on the street of the hotel. Over the course of 4 days we saw multiple instances of drug deals taking place, drugs being consumed, a fight and the place is littered with used needles on the side walks, in the gutters, gardens etc.

This area is simply unsafe, undesirable and I wish I could have left for someone else as soon as a I arrived.

I understand places like this exist, but the Hotels attitude when looking at reviews is incredibly poor. They say there are constantly police guarding the church - there was not, we never saw one. They say this \"problem\" exists in all major cities - sure, it might, but I don't want to stay on those streets.

There's not a whole lot I expect the hotel to do except acknowledge the issue and be transparent about it rather than downplaying it. Perhaps inform guests about some precautions they could take to remain safe such as best routes to take when accessing the hotel and places to avoid.

Do not pay for their breakfast. If you need a good cup of coffee, they give you coffee from a machine which is horrible. When I expressed my view she had a terrible attitude before I get a good cup of coffee from them and do not expect to get your refund if you don’t use the breakfast voucher.
