I booked this hotel for friends who we were with on the Celebrity Infinity cruise that was cut short.
They told me the hotel was exceptional from check in to departure. The breakfast was excellent and they would recommend staying there.

The Hotel was great and had an amazing view from the restaurant and pool area on the 9th floor. The staff was excellent. There was one night where we went for a drink at the bar and it apparently was a private party and we were told to go downstairs to the bar after a staff member engaged us in a nice conversation about a particular alcohol. when we went down stairs that bar was apparently also closed as no one was there. when we asked the desk staff they said that the bar was closed yet drinks did finally come down to us. It did appear that staff was not well informed during 2 conventions.

This is a large hotel that services conferences, cruise shipsand couples like us. It is well run and and the rooms are spacious enough. There are a few very good dining options very near by too. While the area might be scruffy to some we walked around it and found it interesting. Also there is a metro stop very nearby that is convenient to use that takes you to museums and the Center in about 10-15 minutes.

Great hotel, close to the metro. Great authentic Greek restaurants nearby. Hotel brought a bottle of complimentary wine to the room (Nice touch). Slippers and robe in the room. The Spa had a nice discounted massage and mini facial. It was a very relaxing stay.

The property is very nice, rooms are spacious and bed is very comfortable. Location is a bit sketchy to walk alone at night time, but it is a safe street where the hotel is located and you have 2 good dinning options in that street. Gym was out of service which I wish they would have put it in their site, since that was one of the reasons we picked the property.
Overall it is a good option if you are looking for room comfort. ( which towards the end of this trip we needed a comfortable bed)

For the money we spent the hotel was very nice. We were only in Athens for the day and spent most of it near the hotel. The pool was small but pretty. The view from the roof top was very nice and it was a great place to have a drink. We were able to walk to shops and places to eat easily. My wife thought it was fancy and thought I paid more than I did so that’s a plus. Would stay again if I ever go back to Athens

The hotel itself was good. The food was excellent. The service was good. It was clean. The area was a bit noisy. And just a couple of blocks from the hotel they were drug addicts in the streets, injecting drugs into the veins. It did not make me feel very safe.. There was also a malfunction that kept ringing an alarm throughout the night, which was very annoying. I should have called the front desk, but I didn’t. Otherwise, our hotel was very pleasant.

Great place to stay in Athens. Loved the rooftop bar the pool and the location. Close to Plaka and the Acropolis. It’s. 30 minute walk. Very kind and discreet staff. We arrived at 1pm and they had a nice room on the 6th floor all ready for us.

Booked an executive room and it was small not executive great Vietnamese restaurant just outside hotel. Greek restaurant across the street was good and fun atmosphere probably would think twice about booking Wyndham again

While the Wyndham Grand Athens is located in a so-so neighborhood, it is conveniently situated with good restaurants nearby. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable, if not entirely soundproof. Overall, this hotel gives good value for the money and I would stay here again.

There was an insect by the bed and I woke up with multiple bites.
The surface area of the bathroom was dirty and when I asked to clean it the response was this is the design of the stone, the glass rings are part of it!
The gym was small with a major water leak from ceiling.
Most staffs were polite and tried to be helpful but the one who answered reception calls need training.

I like the fact that I can see the Parthenon from the hotel. The place is dingy and needs renovations. I paid everything prior to arrival including taxes. BUT, as we checked in, the front desk charged as 15 euro per head per night as tax. I think we were scammed.

Had amazing views of the Acropolis from the rooftop. Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel was located in a bad area with homeless and drug activities. It is best to not walk around the hotel as the walk can be unpleasant. It is best to take metro or taxi to other places. Our rooms were clean, but the toilet was leaky and the shower door was not sealed properly which produced a huge puddle of water everytime we took a shower. Also our coffee machine was cracked.

We had a lovely stay at The Wyndham in Athens. Check in was a little later than stated but we used the time to have some lunch at the rooftop bar & restaurant which was nice.

The room was spacious & clean, had a great view of the acropolis & we were kept stocked up with clean towels throughout our stay.

We used the rooftop pool on the last day which was great as it was so hot, although it was very busy & they could probably have done with a bigger pool considering the size of the hotel.

Great Bed, Much to Learn about Customer Service

The bed was comfortable and size of the room was great. The neighborhood is up and coming, but safe to walk around. Great view from the pool and the hotel restaurant. The breakfast was very subpar - tasteless fruits and unremarkable Greek yogurt and watery orange juice and mediocre coffee from a machine. When we called to reception complain that the air conditioning in our room wasn't cooling it off, they said they would send someone up. That person never showed up. When we called to reception at 7:30am to say that a hole had opened up in the ceiling and water was gushing into our room (we had to move a trashcan to catch the water and steer our luggage far away from the water), they said they would send someone up. They never did. When I checked out at 7:55am and mentioned the ceiling had opened up and there was water in our room and they said they were sending someone but that person never came they said, \"Our maintenance department opens at 8am.\" It seems like one should send a staff member to a guest room when there is water gushing into it...! So they have much to learn in the way of what good customer service means for a brand name that is usually synonymous with good service, but in this case was not.

It’s not in good neighborhood. Reception is kind of rude and not very understanding. Expedia prices are cheaper than ones at the hotel itself. Requested cot and they brought something that looked it was chewed up and put together . Someone literally sewed it together . It was kind of dirty too.

I didn't like that I wasn't accommodated to a room with two beds. I requested to move from a junior suite to a room with two beds so that my niece could sleep comfortably. When I made the front desk aware of this, they were really nice and said they would give me another room. They did and it was the same room. Still a suite and the shower 🚿 wasn't good. The water wouldn't go down and made a puddle in the shower stall. I will say, the bed was comfortable. The is a bit noisy so if you're looking for quite, don't stay here.

I don’t know what needs to happen to have a star taken away from this hotel but it is 100% not a 5 star. Our air conditioner did not work properly and despite 6 phone calls in 3 days to the front desk no one ever came to look at it or fix it. The area was not good for walking, felt extremely unsafe and we had to take taxis everywhere due to not wanting to walk around the neighborhood. Also beware that if you have a room on the 8th floor you can hear chairs from the restaurant on the 9th floor being dragged across the floor when you are trying to sleep. The only redeeming thing was that the room was nice and big and it was clean and we did have a beautiful view of the acropolis. But honestly not worth it for the zero service, bad location and no air conditioning.

Nowhere in Athens is particularly clean or quiet. This is a very good and efficient hotel for a stay in the city. Everything works and service is seamless.
We were allocated a room clearly designed for wheelchair users although we hadn't requested this. The bathroom/wetroom isn't good for those who aren't in need of one. Hopefully we didn't deny a less able guest the facility.

Ok, but definitely has its faults

The hotel is not in the best location, it is a slightly run down area of the city. The staff on the rooftop bar during the day were very slow whenever asked for anything and the pool area has only a very few beds for guests.
Rooms were good, though the shower in our executive room was tiny compared even to the shower in our kids standard room! Overall not bad, but we wouldn’t use this hotel again.

Brief and unpleasant. I chose this property for its amenities, my plan was to enjoy the pool and spa after my red eye flight in order to rest and relax as I adjust to the time difference in order to start my vacation refreshed and ready the following day. Unfortunately upon arriving (at 4pm, an hour after check-in time) I’m informed my room isn’t ready. I sit in the lobby to wait as they said it would only be a few minutes. After half an hour, I return to the reception desk to inquire if it’s ready yet. At this point I’m told yes it is but that when the reservation was made it was for one person so I need to pay a fee of 30 euro for my partner. Fine I pay. Yet wonder why no one contacted me to let me know the room was ready. The room wasn’t clean and my complimentary bottle of wine was missing. I return to reception to inquiry about the wine and ask for a room upgrade. The receptionist was kind to give me a room upgrade and stated the wine would be sent up immediately. We waited. Nothing. We called and asked if we could just request our bottle when we get to the pool since that’s where we were heading. I’m informed we are not allowed to drink it there only in the room. Fine, no problem. They say it will arrive in 5 minutes. So we decide to wait. After awhile I go back down to inquire about the wine since it hasn’t arrived and at this point it’s 630pm. I’m told it was delivered.

This hotel was beautiful from a distance but had issues close up. All the staff was wonderful and very courteous but breakdown when there are problems.1st night there we began to smell an odor in the bathroom that I assumed was from someone in my party's usage by day 3 I realized it was sewer gases. The bathroom stench was horrible noone used the bathroom for ANYTHING and we all gagged by the smell. I had 2 rooms and we all went to the room on the 7th floor for bathroom stuff. Starting at 3pm I communicated the issue, I was assured it would be fixed. We went out came back, still not fixed. I kept calling the front desk to inquire by 10pm the person said all of housekeeping left for the day but they could spray something in the toilet to make it smell better. We all know what spraying perfume on a stinky odor does. They said they would move my room and my things if I packed them. At this point my kids had gone to sleep and I was exhausted from a day out but it was worth moving from the smell. I packed all 6 bags back up and waited...and waited. I kept calling to find out when the room would change and the man said he is getting with his colleague and it would be shortly everytime I called. At 130am I asked what do they consider shortly he said 10 more min. I fell asleep at 245am still waiting. The next morning at 730am I went downstairs after send my kids AGAIN up to our other room on the 7th floor. By 10am I finally spoke to Guest relation manager who moved our room.

We were so disappointed in our Athens hotel stay.

The room was advertised as 5 star and it was really tired and dirty in areas.

The bed leg was broken and the whole bed was worn and scuffed. The bedding was pulled and torn. This was not a comfortable sleep due to the lack of leg at one corner.

The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and was dirt and mould around the seal area and drain area. There were hairs all over the bathroom floor.

The bathroom counter was covered in marks along with the bedroom table area.

Although the neighbourhood is outwith the hotels control, I felt unsafe. There were adult worker shops all around the hotel with constant clients coming and going. There were used needles lying in the streets and I walked passed a drug user using on the pavement outside.

The manager changed our room due to the damage in our room, although I had asked for a refund so that we could move hotels.

She explained that this was not possible, due to booking with a third party and that we were welcome to leave.

We loved Athens itself, but wished we had never booked this hotel as it never delivered what was advertised.

Front desk customer service was terrible! Bathroom in our room was in bad shape, needs repairs and updating. The exterior of the hotel does not look as pictured on Hotels.com, it looks terribly run down. The roof top pool and pool deck is very small, not like in pictures. Windows on exterior of the hotel were filthy dirty and definitely need a good window cleaning. The location surrounding the hotel is a complete sore eye. The area looks run down and there’s graffiti everywhere. Not much of anything was open in the area. I would not stay there again and I do not recommend this hotel.

There is an emphasis on Conferences at the Wyndum Grand. Staff are busy so we had issues trying to get a kettle that worked. Room was nice.
