The room adjacent to ours had several women staying in it. They came into the room at 2:30am talking very loudly and slamming doors and laughing. After about 30 minutes of enduring this I called the front desk. They called the room and spoke to someone however the noise continued for another 30 minutes. Very poor sound insulation.

It was a very comfortable stay, the bed was really comfortable and the staff were professional, friendly and welcoming. Facilities are good with a swimming pool, restaurant and gym. The gym is basic but ok if you want to do basics. Location is good, I caught a train to the city centre and it was only 3 stops. I would stay at this hotel again.

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel . Staff were very efficient in checking us in early . Really spacious room and bathroom . Tea/coffee making facilities , bathrobe and slippers provided . Rooftop pool and restaurant bar also great . Would definitely return again . Facilities of Wyndham Grand can also be accessed .

The hotel itself if very nice, my room was clean and comfortable. The people working at the front desk are friendly and helpful. One issue during my stay is that the kitchen broke, so they didn’t have dinner or room service there. The main issue I had with this stay is the location. This hotels location in a bad part of Athens with high crime and drug use. It is not safe to walk there at night. Even walking around during the day to the city center felt uncomfortable and risky to me. So you will have to likely taxi everywhere. I came back to the hotel at 1:00am one night of my stay. The door to the hotel was locked, it is locked to keep people with ill intent out and I had to wait there for someone to open it. That should tell you enough about the location. If you are female travellers in a group or a solo female traveller, I do not recommend staying here. Stay closer to Plaka or research a better area.

Worst Hotel Experience – Had to Leave Immediately

The hotel had a strong, unpleasant smell throughout. I was shown several rooms, and all of them looked like old hospital wards – outdated and unwelcoming. The electricity kept cutting out multiple times. The reception staff were rude and completely unhelpful. I ended up having to rush out and book another hotel. The location was also very noisy and far from anything convenient. When I expressed my concerns, I was simply told to leave – which I did.

Everyone was so pleasant in the hotel, receptionists were fantastic, bar staff fantastic and the cleaners who serviced our room. The hotel is in a very good location near a lot of restaurants and the hop on hop off buses. Upon our arrival, we were told our room had been upgraded which was a very welcoming surprise! Food was brilliant. Overall, excellent. Thank you!

Nice Hotel!

The hotel is nicely located. Close to a metro station with good connections to Syntagma and Monastiraki squares. Room are spacious and comfortable and the staff is friendly and extremely helpful. However, breakfast is very basic. The variety is poor and they do not seem to refill trays or gastronomes if they are empty. In addition the swimming pool is tiny and not so clean.

Fantastic front-desk staff, who were very helpful in accommodating an early check-in for us as our flight landed at some ungodly hour. Room was clean and large. The only complaint is with the bellman in the lobby; who was aggressive, condescending, and rude. Walking around the lobby as though he owned the joint, grabbing bags out of hands and at one point telling me to \"hurry up\" and sighing loudly--very dramatic for a grown man. His colleagues looked mortified by his behaviour.

wyndham residneces is not the same as wyndham grand even though they are pooled together on booking websites, and it certainly was not a 5 star hotel as advertised; 3.5 stars at the very best. The gym and pool are very very basic. the grand has much better facilities that you can use however. The area around the hotel is not great at all, lots of homeless and migrants, rents in the area are as low as 300 euros a month for an apartment so be careful if you wonder in the side streets. Definitely over priced for what it is, and not a 5 star hotel. On the morning of my departure there was a taxi/uber strike and they didn't even bother to tell me, i had to scramble and go with the metro, and very nearly missed my flight! I would advise, stay elsewher in Athens.

Property is very close to public transport and bus tour stop is right outside which is useful. Pool is not a pool for swimming in, you can dip your feet at best. Breakfast options are ok, tables could be cleared quicker and food replenished more often. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean.

In all honesty, I’m seriously puzzled as to how this hotel is a 5 star?! Someone definitely got a brown envelope lol, so when we arrived we were put in a room on the second floor “with city view” which simple meant we were on the side of the road, however please don’t be fooled!! The hallway smelt like urine, The sound proofing was horrendous, there may aswell not have been a window or a door for that matter, also even after requesting a double bed was given a room with two singles, obviously after complaining we were moved (a day later as it was full). We were moved to the 5th floor which was a lot better, but the sound proofing again was a joke, there were loads of school kids there (which is apparently a regular occurrence) they were running up and down the corridors screaming till 4AM every day.
The staff were very helpful however and the best part of the hotel, in fairness they tried to deal with all our issues as best they could, the funniest part was that our room was under the gym and when somebody was on the treadmill we could hear them running and the room was shaking.
Also be warned parking is NOT free!!! It’s €15 euros a day which you pay to their “partner” hotel.
The biggest issue however, was the bathroom smelt like Drainage, and when we forgot to shut the door the whole room smelt. It would go for a couple hours when they’d clean the room but it was horrible!!
Honestly, I’d probably never stay here again, which I’m shocked to say about a 5star hotel.

Secondary door lock was broken, end of curtain hanging away from hooks, bathroom floor wasn’t cleaned before or during stay (grubby from previous use), Ass print on pinks velour chair (a-hole very visible)

I probably should give two stars as our air conditioner never really worked well during our stay. The staff were pleasant if not really friendly. The property was clean in the sense of a dorm at the start of a semester. There is a nice bakery next door.

The phone in my room is not working. I had to run back and down to report the issue to the front desk.
I had to set the morning call because I don’t want to miss the flight.
The dryer was not good and I had to get the other one from the front desk.
There was no even face tissue. And the shampoo and body wash were empty while I took shower.
There is no to go breakfast prepare which the other hotel can be prepared the to go breakfast if the customers have to leave early for their flight. I am requesting the credit for my room. It is a bad experience.

This hotel by international and US standards is only a 3 star hotel. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL. So I am surprised that Expedia would allow them to rate it at a much higher level. We had a pleasant one night stay before our cruise.

I suggest finding a better hotel than this Wyndham

When we checked in, our room had not been swept or vacuumed and there was a used towel and bathrobe in the closet. The entrance to the hotel was also very bad, with open trash dumpsters right adjacent to the front door, making the entrance not look like a quality hotel at all. Lastly, we suspect the cleaning staff stole a newly purchased necklace from a small backpack that we left in the closet. Much of the furniture at the bar/breakfast level was in poor condition. On a positive note, there were good food choices at breakfast and the coffee and juices were very good.

We had to ask to have the room serviced, including getting clean towels daily. The hotel was in a good location in Athens, however, it was a little older and not as pristine as the other Wyndham. The daily breakfast was excellent, including fresh salmon and cappacino.

Mixed feeling...

Wyndham Grand Residence is the cheaper version of Wyndham Grand. I stayed in the better one before and somehow got confused and booked the Residence this time. This hotel is substantially lower quality, and I really do not know how they rate themselves as 5-star. We stayed 2 nights and had multiple issues. They were short-staffed. They did not clean the room even after requests, the coffee machine was broken and I had to remind them multiple times to fix it. The toilet paper holder was broken, and the room did not have an iron (which I think is very basic for a 5-star hotel). Terrible experience. I am a Platinum member with Hotels.com and have used them for years. This is the first time that I am writing a negative review. The staff were great. Regards I&V.

I went back into a reservation to see if breakfast was included and found out that we were supposed to get a room upgrade and a bottle of wine.
The hotel also said that it was very quiet and our room was nothing quiet It sounded like we were beside a raceway all night long.
Our bed was just two twin size beds setting 1 in apart we slept sideways so they didn't scoot apart.
