Location excellent & if you have an electric car & are mobile this is the place to stay in Brixham, 6 charging points in private car parking.
BUT this is a very old building with rickety stairs, MANY fire doors & less than clear room directions. The walk from the car park is not easy, beware those with limited mobility or wheelchairs.
We booked a snug harbour view for £140 - this was poor value for money, the room was very snug with a tiny bathroom. The view was okay but only through a small window, the morning after the condensation prevented any view. Breakfast was okay but fairly minimal, £3 surcharge if you want salmon. Restaurant was closed to us on the evening although there were people eating, no problem finding somewhere else but again you need mobility. Brixham pretty hilly, this hotel is on a very narrow street with even narrower footpaths.
We didn't have a hairdryer in our room, not discovered until after hairwashing, my wife attended breakfast with wet hair, we raised it with reception who apologised & promised to put it right !! After breakfast still no hairdryer in room & no mention of recompense.

Conveniently located & quaint, but...
1) With a top (3rd) floor room & no lift it was a struggle for my retired wife & I to drag our luggage up the steep staircase & we were not offered assistance.
2) Due to staff shortages the room was not serviced daily but there was no price reduction.
3) The bedsheets were too small for the twin beds & so not tucked in so they rolled up in the night.
4) No one even asked if everything was OK at checkout.

Very good location for this traditional hotel. Our room was furnished in a clean and modern way, which we liked. The breakfast was good and the staff welcoming. The dedicated car park was a godsend.
Lots of restaurants and pubs within 2 mins walk, as well as the harbour, a small beach, the sea water pool and the south west coast path

Overall the stay was good apart from the odd thing

The room could do with a make over,but the views was v good. The room was not cleaned one morning even though we put the sign out early and we were next to the linen store. Breakfast girl could with a smile,not sour faced. Floor boards loose and noisy. Not a full set of light bulbs in the ceiling lamps. Staff was helpful otherwise

What i didn't liked about the hotel, it was the car park was not close enough to the hotel. About 10 minutes walk away.
Getting to your room wasn't so easy it was so complicated, and too many stairs. Is really not ideal for someone with mobility issues.

We stayed at the hotel for three days in March. Very easy to find and parking off site was no problem. The hotel has a lovely view of the harbour from the dinning area and adjacent bar. Its an old building, not a complaint, so has a number of stairs to get to rooms. For us not a problem , but if you have limited mobility explain to reception on booking. A good place to stay in the centre of Brixham.

Nice, quaint seaside B&B with a great location, staff were friendly but a little rigid in their ways and slow to serve breakfast during the admittedly busy time that we stayed, but the restaurant and food, both breakfast and evening meals, were good, and we ate an enjoyable dinner there both nights.

Great hotel with own private parking (A few minutes walk away but you can load/unload outside the hotel).
A superb view of the marina (Ask for a marina view when booking), as my photographs show (Room 24).

The hotel staff were really friendly and breakfast was good -although missing some fresh fruit in my opinion.

The room however was in drastic need of updating. There were a few random stains on the wall paper, bedside lamps missing their bulbs and he room had a musty fausty smell. We didnt notice the smell initially as the windows were open but we closed them when we went out due to the weather. By the morning the smell was awful. We were happy we were only stsying 1 night.

Amazing harbour view from our room. Easy access to Brixham town and local restaurants.
Dated and tatty decor. No window in the bathroom so there was a damp, musty smell. Shower over the bath gave little headroom for average height user, and the water flow was very weak.
Steep narrow stairs to upstairs rooms.

Very friendly, and helpful with suggestions on places to visit. Used the small bar in hotel and Earl was friendly.
Only issue was the hairdryer. Needs to be more powerful took forever to dry my hair. And also the very strong smell of musky/mould as you enter the room, which was awful and actually made all my clothes smell.

Dissapointed as Brixham and the staff were lovely,helpful

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However the bedroom was extremely small, wallpaper was coming of walls, sink had crack in and plug never kept water in, throw on bed was torn and covered by neatly folded towels. Booked evening meal whereupon my Husbands was lovely However mine was returned... very thin, burnt and hard one end and white sauce the
Other end. The starter was prawn cocktail which was lovely but was on its own... normally wholemeal bread or a roll would come with it... all in all dissapointing as husband had meal on his own whilst I watched... the staff were very apolgetic but not good enough..

Staff service and friendliness was excellent. This is something that I thought was lost in the UK. But here at the Quayside all the staff were professional and fabulous. Food was fantatsic although the menu was slightly limited the quality of food was excellent. Our room was spaceous and adequate but in need of updating, hopefully as the UK tourism industry gets back to normal then the Quayside will have the funds to make this possible as it was the only negative in our stay. Location was ideal. The Ernie Listers bar next door also part of the Quayside was also fantastic with equally good service. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we would definately book here again.

Staff were so welcoming and friendly. The room was at the back of the hotel which we was not expecting. We thought that we had booked sea view room? There was a very large extractor fan outside our window which was very noisy. It started very early in the morning and continued throughout the day. Room 32 I do not recommend. Musty smell in the stairs area but thankfully we had to wear masks so that reduced the smell but it definitely needs attention. Overall decor is very dated and needs a good painting etc. On a positive note the breakfast food and choices were very good. Also we ate in the adjoining Bar on our last evening and the food was lovely. I must also point out that all the staff from Receptionist , waiting staff and the young ladies serving in the pub are a credit to the hotel owners. Nothing was too much trouble for them and as long as we can guarantee a less noisy room we will definitely return.

We stayed in 2 different family rooms across 2 nights. The rooms are very tired and stuffy to the point of being unpleasant. The corridor on the way to the room on the second night smelt of a urinal. Staff are welcoming but can’t actually do anything to improve the situation (no one will ask you how your stay is for fear of response!) We mentioned a noisy extractor that I’m now disappointed to see from other reviews they would have known about.

A quaint little hotel. Location fantastic, staff lovely, however my room was ridiculousness hot and the bed was nearly as hard as a floor. I barely slept for 2 nights, which had an overall effect on the quality of the break. Saying this, the staff were lovely and when I explained the fan in my room was dusty and broken, they gave me the office fan. This helped a little bit but the room was like a sauna. Breakfast was great too. Such a shame the room was so awful. I dont think it is fair to have the rooms open on the 2nd floor in the heat of the summer. When I reported this on leaving, I dont think they took any notice. Gutted I paid £200 when I'd have probably found a park bench more comfortable. Unfortunately I won't return.

Great location, nice hotel but external noise

Great location but you pay the price in terms of noise from outside. The hotel itself was quiet we never heard any of the other residents and our room was over the bar. It was exceptionally hot as the sun comes into the room at full force and the window has a child lock so you can only open one window to about 3 inches. The other two are painted shut. There was a noise from some boiler one morning out of 3. The music from a local bar is loud on a Saturday night and doesn’t stop until 12:30. If you want peace and quiet this isn’t the hotel for you, if you want as a base at the centre of things you will be very happy.

Had a lovely few days here. A great base for exploring Brixham. Friendly staff who were great with my little girl. Lovely breakfast.
It’s an old building so expect lots of stairs.
The family room was perfect for us.
The only down side was the fact it was so hot in our room. The hotel supplied fans thank goodness but it was very warm - can’t do anything about that! The front of the building seemed cooler.

Generally I enjoyed staying at the Quayside hotel. Views from the restaurant great overlooking the harbour. Unfortunately my room which was a single had no view. It had an inside view of what looked like a huge greenhouse and so was quite dark. Also the duvet was full winter weight which made it difficult to sleep. All the staff were great, cleaners, restaurant and reception. The food was pretty good.ff

A man came into my room using a key, at 11pm at night. After complaining I was moved to another room, and then again the next day, but other than that the hotel did not take it seriously, instead saying it couldn't have happened and stating I must have left the door open - I couldn't lock it from the inside as there is no way to do that. He walked right in, with the tv on and me in bed, not even just saying oops with the door partway open and noticing things in the room. I have no idea who he was. I also got food poisoning that I believe was from there as the crab starter I had on the first night had ice in it. So all of the day I had a supposed 'upgrade' I was ill in bed and unable to enjoy the (only) 3 days I had booked. I was a middle aged female travelling alone and though I ended up getting half my money back through Expedia I didnt feel safe after that. The hotel claimed to have 'looked after' me by visiting me/ringing me every hour - I didnt see anyone from 10am-6pm when I was in my room, ill. I only went out at 6pm as I had a restaurant booking anyway and needed to eat. To top it all off on the last day I was served a poached egg that was raw inside. I watched as all the other guests were asked if everything was ok except me. When I was about to leave the waiter came to take my plates. I showed him the egg and was asked 'was that not cooked enough for you?' I said I didn't like raw egg. He then asked if I wanted another - after I'd already eaten. Much t

The hotel was lovely with friendly staff and a great location. As the room is such a spacious size (a positive), we feel it could do with a larger television on the wall. The toilet seat also needs replacing as it has a noticeable worn mark on it. There was also a noticeable noise that we heard every so often but we couldn’t work out what or where it was coming from like a short creaking sound. However this didn’t put us off and we would definitely stay here again.

This is a very friendly hotel with lovely staff who are doing everything they can to make the hotel safe and welcoming. Rooms are very clean, the dining room has Perspex screens and the staff are working very hard. The location is amazing - overlooking the harbour - you do get used to the sea gulls in the end but they don’t really sleep! It is worth noting that the rooms are very small and old fashioned and the whole hotel is quite worn out inside - so go here for a charming harbour view and friendly staff but don’t expect luxury - despite the cost which is relatively expensive.

Lovely staff., ĺovely room, lovely breakast. Not very good if you have mobility issues.

Our first trip to Brixham and we absolutely loved it. Hotel was brilliant, staff were great, we had a very lovely 2 day stay. Breakfast was amazing to.....poached haddock and poached eggs is highly recommended. The views outside the hotel across the harbour was amazing too. We will Definately be staying here again and will be recommending to friends and family too. Thank you so much Quayside hotel for a pleasant stay
