Hestkaer Family Rooms is a fantastic family run place to stay with your young family.
Only 20 minutes drive from Billund and the attractions, without having to pay the over inflated prices for staying next to Legoland!
Spacious rooms allow you to spread out in comfort and the games and activities on site will keep the kids amused for hours.
On site kitchen allows for preparing your own meals, thus saving a small fortune on eating out. There is also bbq’s available should you fancy grilling outdoors.
Myself and my kids loved staying here and I can certainly recommend it.

Wonderful place with small kids!
This place was really great, especially with kids. It is a recently renovated country school house, and you stay in the old classrooms. We stayed in the \"preschool room\" and it was just huge. Think about saying in your kid's classroom with all the desks removed. After several days of staying in small hotel rooms, this place seemed like a palace to let our 3 kids under 8 run around. The common areas are stocked with all sorts of fun stuff for kids - toys, games, legos. There is a PS2 video game player in each room, a Nintendo Wii in the common area, and all sorts of cool outdoor games and toys just outside. Then there are 4 trampolines, a small bouncy house, little carts and bikes, goats to feed, a playground, on and on. So if you are looking for a great place to stay out a bit out in the country (~15 minutes from Billund town), especially during a visit to Lego House and Legoland - this place is a great place.
Also, the owner/proprietor is very nice, speaks great English, and obviously wants to help families have a great stay.

its so old and its kind of scary to stay there .. it feels like an old school !! and its so weird that you have to share the kitchen too and its outside .I didn't see it was hostel until they email me the instructions and it was too late to cancel you have to pay to use the towels too and we got a private room with restroom and they didn't even come with mini fridge .

Fantastic base for Legoland and Lalandia.
We stayed for 2 nights for a Legoland visit. The room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed, including a PlayStation which was obviously a hit with the children! The communal kitchen was well equipt and although the bathroom was basic, it was sufficient. Outside there were a variety of play areas including trampolines, swings and slides and bouncy castle, as well as lots of green space to run around in. There were also barbeques and a firepit,, and even a bunch of friendly pygmy goats! All in all, it was a great choice for a couple of nights.

Excellent Stay at Hestkaer House!
We loved our stay! We spent two nights/days here while visiting the new Lego House (also amazing!!!).
Christian was such a wonderful host, and the location was so beautiful. He and his family have created a gem in the middle of some farming communities. The kids loved playing with the baby goats, and jumping on the trampolines (there is more than one!) and huge bouncy air-mattress type jumpy thing, and the rooms were very clean. We had gorgeous weather so were only outside, but there are lots of indoor things to do too, which were very well maintained - including board games, ping pong, etc. We immediately felt relaxed in the environment that Hestkaer House provides. The breakfast you can purchase for a small amount is not fancy, but worth it! It's self-serve, has all the basics, and it's great to have it there on site. We drove into Grinsted for dinner the first night at a fabulous restaurant called Cafe J (we returned for lunch a few days later and it was equally good!), and then had a fabulous treat the second night at a traditional Danish pancake house, right on a lovely lake, that was kindly suggested by Christian. I cannot stress enough what a lovely experience we had here, and if/when we ever return to this area, we will definitely stay again! Thanks so much, Christian!

Prisvärt och bra alternativ för familjer
Vi övernattade två nätter och trivdes väldigt bra. Vi är en stor familj så behövde större rum, och det fick vi här. Hotellet ligger mysigt och lantligt, men på nära avstånd från Legoland (15 min med bil) och supermarkets för att handla mat. Vi fick bra info från ägarna innan vi kom och även efter, så vi är väldigt nöjda överlag. Vill även ge ett plus för att det fanns Playstation på rummet så vi kunde se på streaming på kvällarna.

Perfekt til familier!
Hestkær er det perfekte sted til familier. Forholdene er hostelagtige, men man får meget med i prisen. Der er adskillige legepladser og spil både indendørs og udendørs. Kaniner løber frit omkring. Aftenøl for de voksne kan nydes i en super hyggelig pavillon med pallemøbler, mens ungerne leger. Vi kunne sagtens have været der i flere dage 😊

Tolle Anlage für Familien. Es ist alles sehr offen und frei gehalten. Die große Küche und die Bäder ist zweckmäßig, aber sauber und gut ausgestattet. Highlight sind die vielen Aktivitäten für die Kinder. Unsere wollten gar nicht weg 😉
Fazit: Wer ein 5Sterne Hotel sucht, ist hier falsch. Wer aber seinen Kids viel Natur, Tiere (Ziegen, Hasen), Spiele (Lego, Billard, Playstation, Tischtennis,... ), Hüpfburgen, Trampolin, Zelten, uvm bieten möchte, selber bereit ist ein Bad zu teilen und wie in einer Art Schullandheim/Jugendherberge zu übernachten, ist hier total richtig.

Fuimos con 2 niños y nos toco la habitación biologia, la cual al entrar habia unos animales disecados y un olor desagradable en la habitación, la habitación no es que estuviera sucia pero si que habia muchas arañas, y concretamente una araña gigante a la que llame federico que vivia en el baño. El baño mal, por las instalaciones del hotel requieren alguna renovación y el que tenga conejos y cabras hizo que los crios disfrutaran. Supongo que por lo barato que es el sitio es lo que te pueden ofrecer

Vi var afsted med et badmintonhold, og forholdene passede super godt, da vi havde vores eget værelse, samtidig med at der var god plads for pigerne til at hygge sig sammen. Om morgenen nød de bondegårdsforholdene, som var herligt for nogle storby piger på 12 år.

Fantastisk ställe med självhushåll, för både barn och vuxna och närhet till Legoland. Perfekt för oss då vi spenderade helgen med barn och barnbarn. Då vi var ganska många, så hade vi det stora huset med vedeldad tunna, biljardbord och massa annat kul för barnen. Hit kommer vi gärna tillbaka, nästa gång det är dags för Legoland.

Heel leuke locatie met kinderen, veel speel gelegenheid binnen en buiten! Wel heb ik het een idee dat ze wat medewerker kunnen gebruiken voor wat ondersteuning in van het onderhoud en het schoonhouden van het enorme terrein. Nu hangen er overal briefjes met uitleg en excuses over wat er niet werkt, of wat niet gedaan is. Best een overkill aan informatie.

Det er 2. år i træk vi er her. Man kan selv sørge for maden, da der er køkkener sat op og flere ovne, køleskabe plus opvaskemaskine. Der er også vaskemaskine. Vi sov i telt, det er super hyggeligt. Meget børnevenligt! Mange trampoliner og alt muligt andet sjovt til børn. Gederne kan dog finde på at stange en - men de er meget sjove.
Der er mulighed for grill eller bål, og det er lidt campingplads agtigt.

Vi hadde et veldig fint opphold! Sengene var harde men vi fikk tilbud om ekstra madrass. Mye å finne på for barna og sammen med barna. Fremstår litt slitt så vi ble litt skuffet først pga bildene vi hadde sett på forhånd at det så litt freshere ut enn det var i virkeligheten.
