A perfect hotel in a beautiful city

Everything about the hotel was top quality - the room, the service from staff when required, effcieincy of check in and check out, restuarant recommendations. The hotel is brilliantly located in Reggio, next to a lovely park, a five minute walk across a square full of dancing fountains into the lively and majestic historic centre.

Cancelled my reservation so they can sell for more

Considering that I had called them to see I couldn’t make it to my reservation the first night, and that I would still keep the reservation- they still cancelled my reservation as I arrived the next day. They could only guarantee one night- because they were able to sell my reserved room for double the price to other guests who were in town for an exhibit. They played me, day by day. I ended up getting Non refundable sub standard bed, far from the city bed and breakfast- until day by day they said they can accommodate me, at double the price -‘d without my Hotels.com frequent stay credit.

Great central hotel

Stayed here for a week and enjoyed the hotel and staff very much. They were helpful and courteous. They were also great regarding visiting surrounding towns and cities. This is a great place to stay. The room was very clean, nice bathroom and plenty of light coming thru the window and balcony door.

Avoid if you can! Better hotels in the area!

Greeted by unfriendly staff which was disappointing, not helpful and tried very little to be accommodating. We felt very insulted actually, never had that experience before.
They charge for underground parking which was unexpected.
The hotel was undergoing renovations and so we had drilling throughout the day! The car park was full of building materials, cement! We felt like we were staying on a building site, awful! No staff to help carry luggage to the room. Elevator was tiny, had to do a few trips to get luggage to room!
We paid for two nights, but left after one because we were so uncomfortable, poor sleep with uncomfortable bed, flat pillow and dust.

I Love going to this hotel every time I am going to RE. I t is in the city center in middle of beautiful park. Has the best, polite, friendly stuff and the Manger Sig, Arnaldo is other than being professional he is a great person. There is free parking and the best breakfast in town. Over all it is the best hotel in the whole RE

Good value choice in the middle of Reggio Emilia

This a typical Italian modern four star hotel. Centrally situated, it provided excellent value for money. For very little extra money, I upgraded to a superior room, and I am glad that I did, which gave extra room, more comfort, and a view over the park. The staff were very helpful, for example, recommending restaurants, of which there are plenty of good ones nearby. I ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening, which again is very good, although not cheap. It is, however, particularly noted for it's seafood. Breakfast, on the other hand was quite disappointing, even by Italian standards.

Reggio is a typical northern Italian small city, and I found it a useful base, (station 10 minutes walk away), but you can see all there is to see in Reggio itself in half a day.

Mercure Astoria Hotel is fine, perhaps fairly priced. Single room was small, ok for sleep in a single bed & short work at the built in desk. Definitely not for lounging. Location is nice, short walk to city center. Parking was the best plus.

This is a return trip. After a pleasant stay last year I returned to Mercure Astoria and was not disappointed. It is located on the edge of a lovely garden, close to the center and university. The hotel is clean, quiet, comfortable and has decent wifi. The staff are helpful and friendly. I'll stay here again on my next trip.

Lovely, quiet and in a great location. Internet connections were often lost but it was free and better than other hotels where I've stayed in Reggio Emilia. An excellent location a bit removed from the center but an easy walk. The 3-4 block walk to the center is easy and having the hotel at a distance means the area is quiet. However I have stayed directly off Pza Prompolini and those hotel rooms are also quiet. Reggio Emilia is rather perfect wherever one stays!

We were pleased to discover this hotel which had a convenient location and good parking facility since we often make a stop over in Reggio Emilia while on route. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. The rooms were spacious,clean and comfortable.I am sure we will stay there again next time we wisit Reggio Emilia.

Convenient to Reggio Children and Train Station

We stopped in Reggio-Emilia to visit the world-famous early childhood education program at Reggio Children. The Mercure Astoria was comfortable and convenient to the International Centre Loris Malaguzzi (the headquarters of Reggio Children), the central train station, and the historic center of the old city. Based on one lunch, we were not impressed with the food service, which was limited and over-priced. We found a very nice cafe for breakfasts and lunches across the park - the Caffe Art E. We also had a very nice dinner at the Risorante Sipario.

The room was extremely small and dark and the receptionist was quite rude, and made us feel very unwelcome. I had booked this for my father's birthday and was extremely upset by our treatment. I live in Reggio and would definitely not recommend it to other visitors, as although from the outside it gives the appearance of a high quality hotel that was not the experience we had there.

rooms were too hot. could not turn off the heat. if you opened the window the outside noise was worse, especially at early morning hours. hotel tried to turn heat off 2 nights in a row but with no sucess. i would not stay there again.

Hotel was nice, the staff was helpful and some knew English. The breakfasts were very overpriced but decent (typical Euro breakfast). There wasn't enough parking in the hotel lot, but having it available was nice, and the parking around the hotel was available for a small fee. The room itself was nice, but like all Euro beds, it was hard and just two smaller beds pushed together, with flat pillows. The TV was small, like all Euro hotels. The bathroom and shower was very nice, but not much lighting. All in all, the place was nice and I'd recommend it, but it was overpriced.

The hotel is great, clean,spacious. The shower is fantastic, in fact the bathroom is spacious and clean, towels are big and soft. The service was great. The only complains : No coffe maker in the room (I understand Italians do not drink instant coffee but would be nice to put something for the foreigners), I cannot function well without my coffee in the morning. Secondly the mini bar is extremely over priced, I am not referring to alcholic drinks. I suppose you have the option of not having naything but my son opened a drink(juice and water) before I realised the prices.

Within minutes walking distance to the main piazza and shopping streets of the old town. Comfortable, quiet, and safe for a single woman traveling alone. Great restaurant around the corner.
It was very convenient to have free parking on the property.

Stayed there in August. Air conditioning quality seemed very room dependent. Hotel has central air. First room did not work at all, second room worked marginally, but hotel was full so we could not shift. Others in our group had varying results. Elevators are not for the claustrophobic! Other than that, large rooms, the helpfulness of the staff was outstanding, location on the central park means walking distance to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc... made for an enjoyable stay.

Great location!

Great location, easy walk to the city center. The hotel is situated directly adjacent to a park. It's a nice stroll through the park to the center. Great restaurants nearby. The hotel had a free outdoor parking lot. However in the busy season they may charge a fee. The rooms were small but adequate and extremly clean.

Hotel di classe con una caduta di stile

Hotel di classe, leggermente datato ma ben tenuto. Voglio sottolineare la caduta di stile della mancanza di ciabattine usa e getta in camera. Questo a volte capita. Ma la cosa più grave e quasi choccante è che alla mia richiesta alla reception mi è stato chiesto il pagamento di 10 euro aggiuntivi, perchè le ciabattine erano in dotazione solo alle camera deluxe e suite. Il Mercure Astoria è un 4 stelle ed ho pagato la stanza 150 euro senza colazione. Dormo in hotel in giro per l'Italia per lavoro da vent'anni una media di 60-70 notti l'anno e questa non mi era ancora mai capitata.

Prenotato soltanto per una notte. Personale molto disponibile, stanze appena rinnovate e grandi che contrastano un po’ con la hall un po’ datata. Ottimo parcheggio interno. Due piccoli appunti per meritare il massimo dei voti: nel parcheggio aggiungere un paio di prese per la ricarica dell’auto, spostare la palestra dal secondo piano … non si può sentire che è aperta dalle 10.00 perché sotto ci sono delle camere!
