This was the most memorable and beautiful lodging of our entire 3 wk Portugal stay! The Quinta is beautiful in every way and the staff could not be more accommodating. The view of the Duoro Valley and river is magnificent, pictures don’t do it justice. there is a stunning infinity pool and breathtaking views everywhere! The rooms are small but stylish and lovely with outdoor seating. Great Restaurant , wine tasting and boat tour (for extra charges) Don’t hesitate to book this stay. We hope to return someday.

This was the most incredible stay in the Duoro valley. We absolutely loved being at the Quinta and exploring the property hiking around. We booked the wine tasting and picnic directly through their website (must be done this way) and they were both wonderful experiences. The staff is exceptional. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. This property is beautiful, the staff are exceptional and the food is absolutely delicious. Our stay was completely faultless and I wish I had booked for longer.

This is my second time staying at the property and it was the same magical experience. This time around I just wanted to relax and enjoy the property. And that I did! I spent my days enjoying the trails, in enjoying the multiple fireplaces on the property. And of course the dinner. The food wine and port made for an unforgettable stay.

We were very disappointed that our room was not facing the river which was the attraction. I think the hotel needs to make that clear when they book the rooms. I didn't drive all that way to have coffee looking at orange trees.
However, with that said, let me tell you the positive side. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was great, and the grounds are lovely. Bar staff understands wine. But whoever told them that lime ruins a good gin and tonic is nuts. lol

Loved the place!!!!! Didn't need to drive anywhere, once we got to the hotel. Wine tastings, hikes, good food, relaxation, and the most photogenic surroundings all day long. It felt like a \"down to earth\" place even though it has resort sensibilities. Perfect hospitality!

It is a beautiful property and staff are helpful. We stayed in the previous wine cellar so the room is spacious and has a nice view. I do hope that hair conditioner can be provided in the future as well as creamer for coffee in the room. Also the trails signs aren’t visible for many of them which is not that big a deal since everywhere is beautiful.

We arrived at the final leg of our trip.
Very attentive staff in a magnificent setting. Beautiful grounds that you can walk, hike and explore. Scenic infinity pool which unfortunately We didn’t have the time to enjoy. Next time will plan at least 1 or 2 extra nights there.

A great escape. We took a jeep and toured the vineyards before a wine tasting and then dinner. The following day we picked up a picnic box for two, that contained lots of food and drinks, which we took down to the river and enjoyed for the afternoon. We were able to walk through the vines, relax at the infinity pool overlooking the Douro River, eat and drink at the restaurant, and play checkers in the common area. We loved our stay and will come back again soon.

We had an incredible two days at Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta. It was one of the best resort experiences that we have ever had. The service from the team was amazing. They care so much about their guests having a wonderful time. The food in the restaurant was delicious - innovative and interesting. The rooms are decorated so nicely. The views of the river valley and the vineyards are stunning. The swimming pool is breathtaking. This was one of the most amazing stays I've done in awhile! my husband and I traveled here for our anniversary with some friends and we were beyond impressed. We unfortunately only stayed for one night but were debating extending our flight if that was an option!

The hotel in general is absolutely stunning. The buildings are built right into the hill side and there are amazing views every direction you turn! The staff was extremely helpful and everyone was super accommodating. We were lucky enough to do a wine tour and the wines that are produced at the Ventozelo are one of the best that I have tasted. We had lunch and dinner at the resort and both meals were top notch. We unfortunately weren't able to stay for breakfast, but the front desk prepared to go boxes for us and left them at the reception!

The next time we come to Portugal we will come back here for several days! I will also be telling my family they need to come visit the Ventozelo Hotel when they travel here next year!

The property is on a working vineyard so you can walk anywhere on the property. They have walking paths with interpretive information and you can see the vineyards and the garden. The food is outstanding. They have an infinity pool with a view of the Duora valley. The rooms are large and our room had a view of the valley.

The views from this place are stunning and the services and attention provided by the staff were amazing. I would like to thanks to the chef Lionel for providing an amazing dinner experience by going with us to the garden and harvest what we were to eat at the dinner. I also would like to thanks to Felipe and Aretha for providing an excellent service at the table and bar and lastly but not least I want to thanks to Vera from the reception who was very helpful all the time.

The property and grounds are outstanding. The hotel is right on the N222. As you enter the view across the Douro is great. The private road winds down to the hotel which sits almost halfway down the mountain side. They put a lot of thought (and money) into the facility. It has it's own museum (better than many large museums), multiple walks though the grounds, lots of places with chairs placed to capture the view and a private dock where the river cruise will pick you up and drop you off. Staff were excellent. We only stayed one night but would have liked longer. On-site restaurant was generally good although the steaks we ordered we both very under-cooked and had to be sent back and my plate was an unappetizing pool of bloody juices (let the steak rest!). Only slight disappointment was the room - a little basic with an open-concept shower (not a big fan). Not sure why they didn't build a full separate bathroom as they certainly had enough room. Definitely recommend Ventozelo for a relaxing get-away.

I rarely leave reviews on Expedia, but this place is so breathtaking at such a reasonable price, that I feel I had to help fellow travelers. If you're considering it, just book it now! The views are stunning, the wine is good, the food is good (and again, reasonably priced). The road up to the hotel is a bit windy but absolutely worth it. The room is on the smaller side, but you're not going to spend a whole lot of time there and you have a porch the size of your room to enjoy the view.

Excellent location overlooking the river Douro and the little village of Pinhao. Swimming pool area west facing and infinity pool ideally placed for social network pictures. Local produce in restaurant is welcome although it restricted some choice. Pastries and coffee need some improvement.Our room was one of the special ones as they used an old wine storage facility to accomodate a modern suite. Very good job adapting old structure to new uses!! Comfortable, spaceous, clean... overall good experience

Dream stay in Douro

It was an incredible stay. Compared to other 5 star hotels we stayed in across Portugal, Ventozelo even exceeded those! The location is stunning, the service is perfect, the staff are friendly and generous, the rooms are clean and luxurious and the food is just something amazing! The fresh produce from the garden is amazing.
My wife is vegan and the chef specially prepared incredible meals for her dinner and breakfast.
We would love to go back and definitely recommend this to everyone!

Great Stay except for the Resident Dog

Extremely nice property. We did a wine tasting with Rita who was fantastic and very knowledgable. Our server at dinner was hilarious and we enjoyed all of the food, including the breakfast.

Downside: there is very large St. Bernard style dog that freely roams the property. There was a fox poking around the cherry trees at night and this dog barked from midnight until 5AM, I had to sleep with ear plugs and my head wrapped in a pillow. The next morning as we walked towards the main office this dog became aggressive towards myself and my wife (keep in mind this dog weighs 140-150 lbs) and a member of the staff had to intervene. I wouldn't be comfortable with small children with an unleashed dog this size on the property.
