Our stay at Blue Apple was a perfect marriage of luxury and natural beauty. The property is small with each bungalow in its own private space. The rooms were gorgeous, clean, and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. I loved the outdoor shower and all the luxury shampoos/ soaps/ lotion.

The service and food was incredible. We ate so well! The pool area is so comfortable and overlooks the waterfront, facing due west for sunsets. We also loved that the hotel was committed to fair trade and sustainable food and practices.

We would return again in a heartbeat. This is an experience that is worth every penny.

Nice setting for short stay

Nice setting, worth getting a cabana. Limited to only food and drink from the hotel, surrounding area not suitable for exploring. Set menu for dinner is OK. Breakfast is good. Shared use of some facilities with staff detracts from the specialness of the resort.

A literal gem

One of top places you can stsy off the coast of Cartagena. Amazing food, pool area and secluded beach. . Fam friendly ( 10 and 7 year old) and friendliest staff !! We stayed 6 nights and cant wait to go back!

We loved our stay here. Everything was easy, relaxing, and well managed by the hotel. Communication via WhatsApp and transportation were great - the boats were safe and convenient from Muelle de la Bodeguita.

The hotel staff was amazing, attentive, and seemed well cared for as employees. We can't speak more highly of them. We liked the beach - medium sized waves and no rocks in the actual swimming area. It's not great for snorkeling because the waves are bigger, but there are beautiful sunsets.

Our room (Papaya) was clean, large and the food and cocktails were excellent (try the Cartagena Mule!). The air conditioning worked very well. There is more noise/partying from day-trippers on weekends, so it's probably better to go during the weekdays if you want more relaxation or traveling with younger kids.

There are beach vendors, but we found them to be friendly (they give great massages), and the hotel has a flag system in place if you want to be left alone. The cabanas, built into the hedges, are awesome and can be rented for about $15/day.

There aren't any kayaks or SUPs, but there are horseback rides, walks to the historic El Fuerte Tierra Bomba, and diving trips offered from the site.

While prices may be a little more expensive than other nearby hotels, we found the quality, atmosphere, and price transparency (no surprises) to be better here, and the property is beautiful. Prices are still less than what most people would pay at other Caribbean islands or resorts.

It is hard to describe just what an amazing experience we had in our three nights at Blue Apple. The resort is quite simply one that you must experience yourselves. The property is beautiful, so well maintained and cared for. Our room was exceptional, with a small plunge pool for our private use as a bonus! It had all the amenities of a traditional hotel as well, like TV and aircon, but to be honest we didn't spend too much time there as we were out enjoying everything else the resort had to offer! The pool can get busy at times, but over the four total days we were there I'd say it was fairly quiet most of the time and, if it is too busy for you, the beach cabanas are beautiful spots. The best part of the stay, however, were the staff. Such awesome people, who looked after us so well, and we were sad to say goodbye to when we left. Special shout out to Yao, Jorge, Garo, and Antonio, who took great care of us over there. We were sad to have to leave the island, but look forward to hopefully coming back someday soon to visit.

Blue Apple is a truly special place, tucked away on an island 20 minutes from Cartagena. Even though it is in an area with a lot of other resorts, its private cove and geographic location make you feel like you're completely isolated. The staff made us feel incredibly cared for, and the mission (they are fully sustainable, with their own farm, solar panel setup for energy, etc.) is authentic and beautifully communicated to guests.

Food is DELICIOUS, all incredibly fresh and prepared to order for each meal. The pool and bar area are also delightful -- we were there during a slower season so there weren't many people there, which made it feel even more special.

If you're looking for that perfect place to stay for a few nights to escape, this is the spot you're looking for.

This is a nice resort but it’s grossly over priced. For what we paid for our hotel night and meals, could easily have gotten us a week elsewhere in central or South America. The food is good though! We really enjoyed that. Oh and the cost of our room didn’t include the boat transfer which, by the price we paid we assumed it would have. Everything was always extra. Couldn’t hang out on the beach either. Vendors constantly harassing you which doesn’t make for a relaxing time.

My girlfriend and I had a short stay here for just one night. Blue Apple deserves top reviews for their service and communication! Everything was made easy from arranging transport, ordering food and drinks, to room service via messenger. The staff was very friendly upon our arrival and throughout our stay. When we arrived, tourists were leaving the island so we got to enjoy a nice, quiet and romantic sunset with great drinks and food.

The room itself was very large and the outdoor shower and tub plus the personal pool (not really private) were all a nice touch. My only complaint was our bedding had stains on it. By the time we went to turn in for the night it was very late and we also had to get up early so we just ended up sleeping over the bedding with what we brought. If we had more time and it was earlier I'm sure they would have addressed this.

Overall, I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Cartagena!

This boutique resort is fantastic! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We traveled with our 12 year old Daugther and had a blast. Weekends get busy with day users but it didn’t take away from our experience. We loved that we could use the beach and the pool and they have areas where you can sit and relax for the day. This hotel is a hidden gem, a Caribbean getaway with a Mediterranean touch. The facility is small and intimate yet very well spread to enjoy different ambiances. We stayed at Blue Apple for one night on a Saturday. Sebastian was so welcoming and wonderful and kept checking in with us for our entire stay. We loved him.The food was incredible. To note, the lunch and dinner menu are the same. The grilled sea bass w/ coconut rice was amazing. We didn’t have hot water, but the AC worked so we didn’t care.

While it’s very lively during the day, it’s dead at night. There are only 10 rooms so there are only that many people there at night after the day trippers leave at 5:30. It’s VERY romantic at night. So beautiful with lots of lights in the trees.

Sunday was super fun by the pool with an amazing DJ playing mostly tropical house and great vibes. HOWEVER, we were basically ignored our entire time at the pool, presumably because we weren’t spending money on alcohol. We went 2 hours without anyone checking in on us. That was basically our only legitimate complaint about our stay.

I did the horseback tour which was incredible. 3 hours of riding around the island to a secluded beach for breakfast and back. It was gorgeous. Any level of rider can go, but I’m an experienced rider and it was just the guide and I, so we were able to canter and gallop around with the horses who were well cared for and in great shape. They provided half chaps and a helmet for me which was very appreciated.

Overall we wish we had spent 2 nights there, but any more would probably only be nice with a romantic partner since there’s nothing to do at night.

The beach was beautiful and they had comfortable lounge chairs with umbrellas or cabanas to relax in. They also had paddle boards, snorkels and flippers to help you explore the sea - I saw coral with colourful fish and sea urchins not far from the beach! The pool area is also very nice with a view of the sea and games to play, like beach volleyball or giant jenga. The service is very friendly and welcoming. This was one of my favourite places to stay ever!

If you're looking for a place to relax and do nothing, this is it. Blue Apple is a perfect break from the hectic Old City. The founders put a lot of thought to make this a modern and intimate getaway. They employ a wonderful, friendly staff who make you feel at home.

A kind suggestion to management - I would consider having a separate lunch and dinner menu or offering more options. While the food was good, I think having a separate or more expansive menu would help guests who stay a few nights avoid repetition.

Facilities for enjoying the beach and pool were great. Decor and design were also very good. Staff was very helpful. Beautiful plants and scenery. However, they had construction going on next to the pool as they were building another pool, which was noisy and unsightly and we were not warned in advanced of our stay. Also, there was only one other couple staying there the night we did and they put us in the worst room behind the house next to the kitchen so we could hear the staff late into the night and early in the morning, plus it is the only room that did not have a nice view or any light despite the fact that all the other rooms but one were available. Felt a bit like a basement room. Also the dogs hung out in the back so we could hear them barking in the middle of the night.

We organized a transfer from the airport, but the driver was not there - he only arrived about 40 minutes later. Then, he dropped us off at a random wooden pier, about 15-20 minutes walk from the correct pier, which led to us missing our boat. We didn't have internet on our phone, and the hotel is only contactable via whatsapp, so this required us to get to a cafe with WiFi and contact the hotel. Ultimately, we arrived at the hotel 4 hours later than expected.

The boat ride both ways was very very rough for 20-30 minutes, so a warning to those who get seasick or easily startled. On the way there, we had to use a smaller boat, which exacerbated the problem.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The room is gorgeous; water pressure is inconsistent and weak, but that is to be expected. Air conditioning, fan, huge room - not too many complaints. There were people speaking all throughout our first night downstairs, though, which we could hear quite clearly and woke us up a few times.

Food is great, though expensive. They were missing a few things that they had on their menu; the menu is the same every day, lunch and dinner. Portions are small for the price, too.

Breakfast is by far the best meal, and it is included in the price of the hotel.

There was a private event on our second day, which meant that we had limited access to the pool and could only eat lunch within a one hour window. The pool area was very crowded and noisy during this time, which was slightly annoying.

Blue Apple Beach House is really a 5 star experience. I am docking one star because communicating with the hotel is very difficult. They have no phone and only recommend using Whatsapp to communicate but I had a tough time getting replies. Other than that, the place is just magnificent. It is small, but you feel like you are on a tropical oasis. The pool is nice, the beach is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the food is simply amazing (10 stars!). I would highly recommend and I will definitely be going back.

Blue apple is a wonderful, beautiful boutique hotel on Tierra Bomba. The hotel is very well run and welcoming from the moment you check in. Front desk staff were excellent and very accommodating. It’s a very relaxing place to stay and rooms are kept very clean and a good deal for the price. The food and drinks are very good too. Beach area is lovely and pool is awesome with beds and loungers reserved for you. We stayed for 2 nights and loved our stay. The only thing I’d say is that the menu gets a little boring after 2 days since they have the same menu for lunch and dinner and it doesn’t change. Would love more options and snack type food. Breakfast was my favorite meal and included with stay. Also the activities listed on site aren’t necessarily all run by hotel and sometimes you have to schedule on your own like yoga because they have to call a teacher in. We rented jet skis and had a great time - but make sure you check the gas before you leave. Also the hotel is in a isolated area can’t really walk or go anywhere else unless you take the boat to Cartagena or maybe hire moto taxis making it perfect for relax but if you’re looking for a lot to do and access to other places walking distance this hotel isn’t it. Overall highly recommend and loved our time here! :)

Amazing location and hotel

From the moment we stepped off the boat onto the hotel property we knew it was going to be something special. The staff was amazing during checkin, even providing us with a refreshing fresh fruit drink and warm towel to take the edge off. After settling in we walked the area and felt like we were among friends rather than a hotel. It was not until Dinner that we realized how special this place really is. The menu varies by season, and for our entire stay we tried almost everything off the menu without disappointment. The coconut rice is by far the best we had during our trip to Cartagena, as well as the Paella. The staff was extremely attentive and on first name basis with the guests which blurred the lines perfectly between hospitality and genuinely feeling as if they were friends. Waking up the next day to the sunrise on the quiet peace of beach property was truly something to experience, as well as the serene sounds of the ocean all night long. Breakfast was also delicious and with good portions. The pool, music and the activities included such as kayaking were fun. We are already making plans got return!

The staff are great and the food is incredible. If you want a room with a view of the beach be sure to secure it with your reservation. Our room was at the back of blue apple and fenced in so we didn't have a view of anything but the fence. The room was great, clean. The pool, dining area and entire grounds are beautiful. Great ambiance. I would consider a day trip in the future, versus an overnight stay. again the food was a huge highlight. Everything we tried on the menu was superb.

Unreal. Literally Am In Paradise Shock

I booked a trip literally last minute to the Blue Apple, without calling ahead or any planning really through expedia. I'm literally writing this on my first night here of 3 nights.

They actually did not have me down it seems due to the last minute booking on expedia, and this led to a good amount of confusion and probably why the boat didn't wait extra (i was late so my fault). However I managed to get in on the last boat and still none of it took away from how amazed I am at this place. The staff were very attentive and especially in Columbia, it is rare to have this kind of service.

You basically are in your own beach resort with only 6 rooms, I count maybe 6 people with me here tonight total, and a staff that waits on you as if you were a king/queen.

I am writing this review now as I feel like I won't even want to share this with the rest of the world by tomorrow morning, i've been around the globe and I would have gladly paid 5x the amount and been just as happy with the paradise here.

Waterfront oasis

Blue Apple will always be special to us as we got engaged during our week staying there. The day staff was wonderful in helping make my proposal a surprise. We stayed there for a week, which is a bit unusual - they cater mostly to day trippers from the Colombian mainland who come for the all-day music and pool. By Colombian standards the beach is pretty decent and they have body boards and kayaks to take out on site. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the rooms and the food was very good as long as Chef Julia was on duty. Within a couple of days the wait staff was familiar with my fiancee’s dietary needs. And other than a glitch in where we were supposed to meet the boat when we arrived from the US, transportation to and from the island was efficient, if not so easy on the spinal column.
As with other places in Colombia let’s just say that the tourist culture of serving the customer is still a learning process. The day management as mentioned was wonderful. But there were housekeeping issues and at night, well, lots of luck finding someone on duty other than in the kitchen. They will learn.

A wonderful combination by untrammeled sea!

Spots around Cartagena tend to be touristed in a so-crowded-you-can't-see-the-beach way which is especially why we adored this lovely hotel. It's lively during the day (which makes things interesting and fun with all sorts of different nationalities and hip locals), and beautifully tranquil at night. But even on a busy day, there may be only 10 people at the beach. Ample chaises and inventive seating (hammocks, giant lounges) around the pool are reserved for you. The room we had (Papaya) was huge with windows on 2 sides. And I don't how they assembled such a professional staff devoted to excellent service . . . run by the very capable Nikol! Better yet, the food was mostly exceptional. I know I'll be trying to conjure up the fresh octopus on a bed of potatoes with carmelized onions and a wash of cilantro mayonaise. My seven year old loved it, too (volleyball sand court, paddleboards, bag toss, giant Jenga etc.) Simply a treasure.

It was a beautiful hotel with the beach steps away. The pool was too deep for my 9 year old to get into so she was disappointed in that. She’s also allergic to dogs and there were so many strays that she couldn’t eat comfortably but the hotel staff was very helpful with that. It had a young crowd, hang out by the pool and drink place feel. The main issue was at check out when they were charging me things that we didn’t order but we’re put under my room by mistake and if it wasn’t for me checking it over for the third time then it would’ve been overlooked so check your bill at check out. The food was alright .. and expensive!

Would I stay again? Yes. Overall the staff and room was very nice but the food wasn’t amazing and unfortunately it’s the only choice you have.

Great vacation spot to relax

Wonderful place to stay. We stayed in the private room set apart from the main hotel. Outdoor shower was nice but water just dribbled out of the shower head which makes it difficult if you have long hair.

Food was great. Breakfast is included and more than just coffee and pastries. Full breakfast.

The 50,000 charge per person for transportation from hotel seemed excessive.

We rented jet skies and had a blast.

Room was lovely. They had a turn down service nightly and cleaned our room daily. Bed was so comfortable.

I would recommend venturing from resort to see town. This explains why the owners are giving back to the community.

Had two massages which consisted of oil being rubbed all over my body and rubbed in. Not a tradition us massage but still good.

They never change menu sonhabe the 4th day we were tired off the food. Then they created specials. Yay. Love that they listen.

I would go again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful little getaway with amazing customer service! Fully recommend Blue Apple. Just contact them prior to coming to utilize their boat transportation.Will save a lot of haggling and a much better/safer voyage.

Perfect getaway.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was a perfect getaway midweek because we needed to relax and have a peaceful time. It was perfect! There could be more vegetarian options while still utilizing local ingredients and flavors.

Cool place to chill.

It's a very nice little getaway from Cartagena. It is on an island so you can expect a few power outages, sanitary products in the trash instead of flushing, mosquitos, etc., but all worth it for the scenery. The staff is very welcoming and the place gives off a really chill vibe. There isn't a little town or anything nearby so it's solely just for hanging out by the pool and beach. Can't wait to visit again.

Beautiful quiet resort

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in the Guanabana room during our trip to Cartagena and it was a highlight of the vacation! The room was very clean, the resort in a remote area, and the service was excellent. I really enjoyed all of my meals and drinks here. The details such as the infinity pool, the beautiful patio, kayak, and beach access made our stay extremely enjoyable. Would highly recommend for an overnight visit (or longer).

5 stars all around for this amazing beach resort. Blue Apple makes toy never want to stay at a name brand hotel chain ever again. Not even in the Carribean or somewhere exotic. I am a global traveler with exntensive experience in the industry. Blue Apple is the ipitome of true hospitality. If you really want a natural retreat that is isolated, this is the place for you. The rooms, resort grounds, staff, and service were all fantastic. I can honestly say we had no complaints with our stay. We are already booking our trip back. Highly recommended.
