I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel despite its beautiful property.

Upon arrival, we were told the hotel was overbooked, even though I had a confirmed reservation made in advance. After a long 10–11 hour drive, there was hesitation about giving us a room, which was extremely frustrating. Eventually, we were assigned a room, but it was unacceptable—there were ants in the room, the bed and surrounding areas were visibly dirty, and overall cleanliness was very poor. This was shocking for a hotel in this price range (almost $500 per night).

We contacted the manager on duty, and while they did agree to change our room, the entire process was chaotic and stressful. By the time we settled in, it was already very late.

The spa experience was equally disorganized. We had a massage appointment scheduled for 10:30 PM, but we were later told it was only a sauna booking. After nearly two hours of back-and-forth discussions, they finally allowed us a massage—but only for 30 minutes. This confusion carried into checkout day, where due to poor coordination and unclear instructions, we were told we had overstayed and had to rush out under pressure.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but unfortunately, the service, cleanliness, communication, and staff coordination were far below expectations. For a luxury brand, this level of disorder and poor guest experience is unacceptable.

I truly hope management takes guest feedback seriously and improves their operations.

À éviter absolument.
Séjour catastrophique du début à la fin : rien ne correspond au standing attendu d’un hôtel 5 étoiles. Management hautain, prétentieux et totalement non professionnel. Repas immangeables, service d’une lenteur et d’une médiocrité affligeantes, le tout pour des prix exorbitants.
Fuyez, il y a bien mieux ailleurs.

Everything was so amazing… I honestly don’t even know what to say. My staycation away from the noisy madness of Lagos was so needed, and choosing Sofitel Cotonou Marina was the best decision.

This was a much-needed, restful, peaceful, and absolutely fantastic reset. 10/10 — I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

A huge shout-out to Ms. Veronique and Madiath at the front desk — my checkout was so smooth. All the staff were truly wonderful, warm, and professional. I’m so impressed.

Sofitel has really upheld the brand beautifully here. ✨💯🙌
I’m definitely coming back.

I stayed here for my birthday. It’s a beautiful well maintained hotel. The staff are all great. There is a surprising lack of hooks to hang up towels in the bathroom, only one hook so it’s impossible to reuse towels even though that is encouraged for environmental reasons. The tasting menu at L’Ami was fantastic.

service was very poor we requested to keep items in fridge that will spoil it was total chaos . The fridge hardly cools in the room .
The place was overpriced for the class of service it provides cars have to park a km away and not near the entrance and in open air with no shade .
