This hotel was amazingly accommodating for our large group. We were traveling back to America and wanted to stay close to the airport. The staff was friendly and quickly checked us in after midnight. Georgina (I may have spelled her name incorrectly) was wonderful adding our children with breakfast. They were super excited about the buffet and pool. The restaurant staff were kind and efficient, always cleaning and making sure we had everything we needed. The pool area is beautiful, well kept and a perfect place to relax and have fun. Can’t wait to return!!

First thing I look for when I book a hotel is a shuttle to /from the airport.
They were there, and treated us very well.

Hotel room was clean and great but room was a bit too hot with AC controlled centrally and set to very low. Service was good with friendly employees but often forgetful of ordered stuff ( like extras items or bread butter). Finally biggest inconvenience was the loud band on Thursday Friday until 11 pm and 10:30 pm respectively that was a serious hindrance to rest and early sleep

The experience at Novotel was great. The food service was excellent. However, The people who clean the rooms, stole my New iPhone. I would suggest that next time, the visitors should you them safe in their room to lock their belonging.

Pleasant and comfortable...

Hands down, I think this place is absolutely beautiful and well kept. The staff is courteous, professional, respectful, and attentive to the guests' needs and that's a plus. Miss Eurydice is an asset for the hotel; she checked us in the night when we arrived and she was great and very pleasant to interact with. A gentleman called Comlan was very helpful as well; he helped us with our luggage.
Everything about my room was very good and neat except the fact that the room which was advertised on Hotels.com was not the room that we stayed in, reason why I took one star off for comfort. I booked two rooms; each was supposed to have a King bed and a single bed, a description which appealed to the occupants of the second room because they wanted to slip in separate beds. Both of our rooms had one king bed each, and no additional bed as advertised. When we asked, we were told that there is no such room in the hotel that fits the description on Hotels.com. I found it misleading and hope this will be corrected on all the platforms that advertise this type of room for the hotel.
As area of improvement, I think adding a door to the shower would be great to preserve the floor by the sink outside of the shower. Overall, we had a great time. Breakfast was awesome with a variety of pastries and fruits to chose from. I also loved the paid buffet at night and plan on going back for dinner before I return to the US. Somewhat overpriced I will say, but comfortable if one can afford it go 4 it!

We found bedbugs on the bed , the day before we checked out informed the management and they did not seem too concerned.
I should have pictures to attach .
The stay was decent until we found bed bugs which ruined the whole experience . Location was nice and renovation done put the hotel on a top scale for the area.
But bedbugs make it a bed deal .

The hotel is located approx 3 km from the airport. The exterior and interior are well maintained. My room was spotless. I stayed at this hotel for one week and every employee that I had contact with was polite and professional. The men and women who work in reception stand out the most. They were always friendly and helpful with directions or restaurant recommendations. I would not even consider staying at another hotel in Cotonou.

Service wasn’t great

Stay was okay but kept being asked for deposit money every night as they did not receive booking confirmation from hotels.com. I had to call hotels.com to sort out every day of my stay especially as they were fully booked so kept saying I might not be able to stay. Not a great experience.

Safe and comfortable - renovation starting in July

The room was big and the breakfast service was a good mix of local and international food. But the hotel in general is a bit outdated and the room could do with a lot better cleaning, especially the carpets. Good thing they are closing down in July 2017 for a full renovation - that would be most helpful !

Double Charged for Room

I reserved the room through Expedia, which is an advance pay option for Novotel Cotonou. At the end of our stay, we had some small incidental charges. But rather than swipe the credit card for the 8 Euros, they charged the credit card for the full rate of the room. Then, when they tried to facilitate a refund, they charged the credit card again. After a lengthy conversation with the manager and staff, they informed us the bank would have to facilitate the refund. After more than a month of emails asking about the status of the refund, I simply gave up, including calls to Novotel headquarters. If you stay at Novotel Cotonou and reserve with Expedia, always bring your receipt or pay with cash. Once you let them swipe your credit card, your money is lost. To this day, I'm still owed $160.

They should really have at least one English channel on the TV for non French speaking customers.
The food was average, the chef seems to have gone on holiday!

Nice facilities but bad service ever

This hotel is good location and good facilities , but the service is very bad now after it was the best in Benin, the staff and management are carless for having any more business as I see , and they keep surprising you with extra things to pay as without any rights , and specially the tax thing , I booked tax included and they made me pay extra tax as they claimed that this called room tax . Breakfast charged on my friend even she didn't have it at all , they said whatever you have to pay it . I guess Accor is losing the control at their quality image with this hotel.

Good business hotel

It was a 4-day business trip. The stay was pleasant. The hotel has a nice bar and a good restaurant, offering a decent range of food and drinks. Airport is just under 5 mins by shuttle, which is available on request. Very good staff members.

The first night was terrible. We were placed into a smoking room despite our request for No Smoking Room.
But that issue was solved the next day. They moved us from the third floor to the second floor.
Nice Breakfast, my kids love it. Nice staffs excepted the one who put us in smoking room our first night.

Decent hotel, sub-par Novotel

Hotel was fine - overpriced by international standards, but probably standard by African. Staff weren't overjoyed by an Anglophone guest but were helpful and efficient. Room was clean and comfortable but could do with a lick of fresh paint. Room service was a little behind the curve (\"Would you like rice, spaghetti or frittes with your steak?\"). Would recommend it if you're looking for comfort more than value.

Excellent hotel, luxury in Cotonou

Conveniently located 3 km from the airport, 1 km from Erevan shopping center, and along marina boulevard. 5 minutes from Cotonou's downtown. Within a secure compound with the Ibis hotel with significant setback from the boulevard. Security guards are also keeping touters and taxis/motorcycles out of the compound. Rooms are quiet. Plenty of parking (free) on site. Free airport pick up & drop off.

Very modern furniture and bathroom installations. Wifi everywhere.

Excellent reception staff: quick, efficient, and service-oriented.

Very friendly staff despite the difficulty in communication with a few of them, they speak more of French. Nice food and safe environment. My only problem is that the internet services in the room wasn't really efficient as such. Everything else is very ok.

Comfy hotel just like the brand name suggests. Nice pool but an absent gym. Limited but tasty breakfast. Close to the airport but far from downtown area. Erevan hypermarket almost 2 km away with a snack joint. Best shawarmas ever had in a restaurant \"Karim 24\" almost 1 km away. AWFUL internet service. Not even the same level as available in other places in Cotonou. Reminded me of dial-up days. Stayed for over 2 weeks, the service got a bit better than went back to the stone age.

Its a nice cosy hotel and lives up to Novotel standards, except for the lousy internet and a gym non-presence. No iron provided in rooms in contrast to whats mentioned on hotels.com about the hotel. Loved the limited breakfast, good fusion of African cuisine with continental.

Mediocre accommodations and poor service

Hotel attributes that might qualify as decent include: location, ocean side view, pool and lobby area. Let me be clear - they were not impressive, rather decent. Bad attributes include: food, staff responsiveness and worst internet service I've ever encountered. Couple of examples. First, I hand delivered shirts to front desk to be laundered to ensure they were in prior to 9:00 am deadline for same day service. When by 8:45 pm they hadn't been returned, I went downstairs to inquire about the status. First answer I received is there was no record of the shirts. After a half hour, they managed to find the laundry. Ticket on the laundry had been marked by staff as received at 9:59 am. So not only did they neglect to mark it as received at 8:30 am, the attitude of the staff is apparently that they can simply let the laundry sit their all day just because they allegedly didn't receive it by 9:00 am. One remedy offered was to give me the laundry back...interesting solution. Ultimately, shirts were delivered next day, well after I had left for meetings wearing a wrinkled shirt. Why did I not iron it myself, you might ask. No irons in the rooms...apparently have one at front desk, but it was loaned out to another customer. Another problem on fourth day - didn't clean my room. Cleaned only after 3 requests, but didn't replace empty tissue box or toilet paper. Request was fulfilled only after I hand delivered that empty box and paper roll to the front desk.

Good location close to airport.

Novotel is an ok hotel. Its close to the airport which is a plus. The breakfast, the pool and the rooms are good. Staff is helpful and speaks english.
