A hotel of two halves. The executive rooms are well-appointed and recently updated, the rooftop pool and restaurant are genuinely excellent, and breakfast offers a great selection. Staff throughout were helpful, friendly, and efficient. The executive lounge is beautifully designed but faces a busy roundabout and we never found a reason to use it.

The hotel itself is let down in places by tired décor in the common areas, but the bigger issue is the location. Metaxourgeio looks fine on a map but feels unsafe at night — derelict buildings, rough sleepers, and open drug use on the surrounding streets. If you enjoy walking to restaurants and exploring on foot, this is not the base for you. The metro station directly outside the hotel makes getting around easy, but the 20–30 minute walk to Athens’ better neighbourhoods and restaurants is not one we’d recommend after dark.

For those happy to metro everywhere, the rooftop alone is worth it. For walkers, look elsewhere.

Staff in the bar were inconsistent, we waited 45mins to be delivered a drinks order.
Rooms are dated and can be noisy if you are on the floor underneath the restaurant.

The rooms are a little small but still lovely. Roof top pool is wonderful as is the restaurant. The gym is functional yet small. Love that it has an outside deck where you can bring your mat and enjoy a fresh air workout.

In addition to an outstanding breakfast buffet, the facility was very clean. The staff provided a place for us to stow our luggage while we waited for our room to be ready. They assisted us in arranging tours that left from the hotel, and helped us find a larger taxi to accommodate our luggage when we left. The pool area was very beautiful, and there seemed to be adequate lounges provided. We chose a Superior Room, which had an extra bed. It was a tight fit for three people, but we managed. I would definitely return to the Stanley Hotel in the future.

The hotel is in a slightly rough around the edges area but it is next to a metro stop, plus you can walk to most of the central areas in about 20 minutes anyway.

We had a superior room so this meant breakfast in the upstairs restaurant overlooking the Acropolis...not bad I have to say! It was never too crowded up there, the food was good and well stocked too.

Best bit about the hotel though is the rooftop pool of course. Could have stayed there the whole trip! Bar prices are a bit expensive (€9 a pint) especially when compared to the rest of the Athens, but that is the only negative.

Rooms were also cleaned very well each day, plus reception dealt with our requests swiftly when needed. Would highly recommend!

Our stay at the Stanley was wonderful however we booked a standard room as we were only staying for one evening. It was clean. It was everything we needed, but it was in an older tower of the complex and I found that the rooms were a little bit noisy, not dreadful people weren’t partying, but noise did wake me throughout the night. I have stayed in the other part of the hotel and noise has never been an issue otherwise no complaints. Staff was wonderful. The breakfast is great and location is wonderful.

The rooftop pool, breakfast area and restaurant make the property a standout. The buffet breakfast has so many top quality options and having breakfast with a view of the city including the Acropolis makes the start of the day so special. We also used the Metro which is just steps outside of the property. A great stay!

I would say the rooftop bar and restaurant was the highlight.
Our room was on level 8 so one flight of stairs to the rooftop…

We had a fabulous stay at The Stanley. Fab location to jump onto the metro and lovely places to eat nearby. The roof top pool was by far the favourite of my two girls! Comfy loungers with drinks on the go. Happy for both parents and kids!

What I liked most about the property was the rooftop view. Besides that, there were no face towels. The power went out 3 times in the same night. The first was while I was on the elevator and had to get off and climb 9 flights of stairs. The 2nd time I was in the shower. There was only one USA outlet which was located in the bathroom. The king bed was actually two twin beds that kept separating from each other and this made it horrible to sleep.

They advertise a king sized bed - and charge additionally. There is no king sized bed. It’s 2 twins pushed together. It’s not even secured. I fell into the wedge. When I went to discuss with the staff about the room we booked - they showed me a room with a leak in the ceiling as a replacement. Incredibly rude staff. The hotel itself is in a bad area, we had to uber everywhere because we didn’t feel safe walking. With all that said, the view from the restaurant/bar up top is amazing and the breakfast was good. It’s not worth the cost.

Didn't love the pool area due to constant loud music all day.

Those hotel is well positioned in Athens and provides easy access to the metro. The rooftop restaurant, bar and pool have excellent views of the Acropolis and are an excellent facility. Our room was rather small but access to the club lounge was much appreciated. The balcony was a nice feature but spoilt by large amounts of cigarette smoke coming from other guests, which was most unpleasant. The food in the hotel was of a good standard but not exceptional. The breakfast layout was badly organised mainly due to poor siting of the coffee machines and the plate storage, combined with inadequate consideration of person flow through the dining room. The staff were generally very helpful and spoke good English which was much appreciated. Overall a good hotel in Central Athens but with some room for improvement.

Staying at the Stanley was lovely, the views were amazing, however sadly the Hotel across the way with its big Blue sign ruined the night time view.
The food was amazing too although it’s a shame that the room menu wasn’t available in the restaurant still really nice though.
The staff in the Hotel were very welcoming and friendly and very helpful nothing was too much for them, our rooms were always cleaned well and made tidy on a daily basis too.
We really enjoyed our stay in Athens

This hotel should be rated as a 2 star hotel- DEFINITELY NOT 4 star!
Our room upon checking in was very loud and basic. We requested a room not overlooking the main traffic circle. We were moved to a room where the shower had no glass or any way to stop water from flooding the entire bathroom!

Btw- we booked an executive room! It was like a bad joke. Can’t imagine what the regular rooms are like.

When we called housekeeping for extra towels they never came.
The front desk staff is clueless. They acted like they had no idea about what we described!

The hotel overall is very outdated. And the neighborhood is not very safe. We learned from our local private guide that this neighborhood was good 20 years ago- but certainly not now.

The only plus is that it is next to the Metro.
We only stayed a second night because we had a guided tour the next morning!

Hotel was clean and very convenient with a metro stop out front. The cafe on the street was also very nice and we stopped there every morning. Staff at the lobby were friendly and very helpful. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the food at the restaurant. I had the ribeye one night and the filet another. But we mediocre at best. My wife did not enjoy her meals either. We also found the restaurant staff to be not nearly as friendly as the staff at the front desk. Overall a good experience though and will recommend the hotel to others.

The breakfast which is included, was on the roof. The food was amazing.
The room was small but clean with marble floors. The bed was two singles pushed together, which isn’t ideal, but the mattresses were comfortable.

Check in initially went well. We were told we were given a room upgrade. The room was definitely not an upgrade!! The floor was under construction and the noise level was extremely loud! A lot of hammering and drilling. When we inquired how long the noise would continue, we were told it was from 9am to 9 pm. We asked for a quieter room and the front desk reacted with an attitude and our room was downgraded. There is no way the hotel did not know about the noise on this floor and they never seemed apologetic for assigning us to a room on it.

The breakfast was incredible; it was the best hotel breakfast we had in Greece. The hotel was very nice. There were reviews saying that it's in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood, but if you're familiar with cities, you'll be fine. The rooftop deck is very nice, though the pool is a little cold. We were very happy with our stay here. This hotel is also located right by the metro station, and an easy few stops away from the Acropolis. We also did the executive lounge upgrade and enjoyed getting the extra coffee and soda to help us get over jet lag. Overall, if I come to Athens again, I will definitely stay here again, we enjoyed our stay very much.

10 out of 10 for me & my lady friend we came to Athens & stayed at the Stanley hotel for 2 nights. No complaints at all, breakfast was good & clean area roof top with nice views as well. Room was nice and clean, front desk provided a charger adapter. We also called for an iron and iron board which was delivered to our room. Upon check out we were also able to leave our luggage seeing as tho we had a late flight & we were giving a late check out so we were able to enjoy the roof top and pool for the last day. Overall if I’m back in Athens Greece I’ll be staying at the Stanley again Thank you guys!

The hotel is suitable for a short city stay and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. They happily refilled the water and coffee in our room daily when asked. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was regularly replenished.

One large negative is the location. The surrounding streets are dodgy but the hotel is immediately above the metro station and the hop-on-hop-off bus stop. Despite being walkable from Monastiraki Sq and other prime tourist locations, I would highly recommend using transport rather than walking around the side streets, especially at night, or with children or if you are travelling alone.

The room was comfortable and spacious, particularly for a city hotel. The bathroom was compact but, if the door was closed, it would acquire the smell of drains. The gym is fairly small, with some equipment very close to each other - I had to synchronise my use of one machine with another visitor so we avoided knocking into each other - but it's fine if you are the only one in there. We ate in the pool bar for convenience before heading to the airport on our final day and sadly the food was disappointing, you can definitely eat much nicer food for less elsewhere.

My wife, son and I booked the junior suite both prior to and after a cruise that left from the port of Athens. We stayed in room 900 which is a newly renovated room located on the top floor of the hotel adjacent to the infinity pool.

The Stanley is a newly renovated historic hotel located in central Athens. There is a subway station as well as hop on hop off tourist bus directly outside. Easy cheap access to tourist spots, airport, port.

This is the only Junior suite in the hotel, and its location offers views of the Parthenon in the distance as well as sweeping views of the city. The room has been newly renovated and is tiled throughout with plenty of storage and a very comfortable bed and pullout sofa. There is a narrow balcony with glass railings as well as a large private patio area accessed through a sliding door. The bathroom is very large and well-appointed with a large glassed-in shower. We were impressed by the welcome bottle of wine on ice and fruit tray as well as the free stocked mini bar.

The room included a full hot breakfast which is served in the roof top restaurant. The breakfast buffet was amazing and included Greek specialties, North American foods and specialty coffees. The restaurant has plenty of seating as well as a great balcony.

From 4-7 there is a \"happy hour\" for suite guests in the mezzanine lounge that includes beer and wine and light snacks. Was a great way to wind down from the day!

I have stayed at Stanley several times since 2023. This is the first time I leave a negative review for the hotel because it's not the same good value hotel anymore.I was waiting 10 min to check in because the front desk person (Kostas) was telling jokes in German with another couple. They didn't offer any upgrade because there was no other room available even with VIP access. Across the street the Wyndham offer points for loyal travelers and it is much better value hotel.

The breakfast was the best we have ever had! The staff is incredible. Our only issue was that our Executive Lounge card had to be reset every day to access the lounge which was a little annoying. Also, there is no full body mirror and no plug in the bathroom for hair tools. Other than that, it was great! Also, water bottles are 3$ each. We had to ask maintenance for AC help and the room was still pretty hot, it only went down to 18 degrees Celsius.

We had stayed at this hotel previously and our experience was great. This time it looks like the hotel standards went down. It does not seem like a four star anymore. Room was not very clean, had a terrible view, shower was clogged and was very small. After a lot of complaints we were able to change our room to a better one. There were still a lot of broken things in the room and wallpaper was coming off etc. There was construction in the room beside us so there was a lot of noise throughout the day. Metro is just outside the hotel entrance so very convenient. I’m not sure if I will stay here again though.

Ideally located 2 mins from the Metro and 20 mins walk from the beautiful Acropolis.
Featuring a nicely designed rooftop bar and resteraunt with panoramic views; only The Wyndham Hotel impinging on the view to the Acropolis.
Food / drink was reasonably priced and had a great selection of dishes including Vegetarian choices; also an excellent choice of wines and cocktails. Nevertheless, even at quiet times, Service is 'unhurried'...
The Deluxe Room is / was barely adequate. I don't know what filters and lenses they used to 'big-up' my room and Shower-room.
The shower-room: Clean but barely functional. The corner shower cubicle was not as shown and as a barely 70cm × 70cm equilateral triangle; actually washing yourself is challenging. On more than one occasion I knocked the shower thermostat control to either freezing or scalding hot. If you weigh more than 70kg it will be dangerously tight for you.
The hotel itself has a shallow rooftop pool; sun lounger etc; a gym and decent lobby area. However, from day one, we were missing amenities such as barhrobes. On day 2 we were left with no towels but a complimentary damp cleaning cloth on the bed pillow.
It took 2 complaints including 1 in person, for us to finally be brought towels.
On a more positive note, the reception staff were pleasant and de-escalatory.
Be aware, works were taking place at the hotel during our visit; heavy banging and drilling; from about 645am... Just as well we were up at 7am each day.

I loved everything. I was told it was a bad area to live by my tour guide, but I loved the area and the view and my hotel room. The electricity was confusing and the floors weren’t fully clean and I saw like 3 black dots I had to swipe off my bed, but besides that the room had heating and a balcony and I enjoyed everything even the restaurant and bar and the pool is so beautiful

Lovely clean rooms, fantastic breakfast and friendly helpful staff.
The local area leaves a bit to be desired at night but we never felt unsafe or had an issue. Local coffee shops and eateries nearby with a metro and open top bus stop directly outside the hotel. Lovely pool and bar on the roof with acropolis views.

We had a fabulous stay at the Stanley. Very comfortable rooms, amazing roof top views, and friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. We would definitely stay here again c

The property was generally very good.

Negatives: The gym and sauna let it down and the roof top pool is quite small considering the size of the hotel. The breakfast is quite cheap and unhealthy

Positives: the location is excellent with public transport near by but also very walkable. The food was excellent for lunch and dinner. Staff were excellent and very accommodating. Rooms are really nice and cleaned every day. Stunning views from the bar and poor area.

The pool on the rooftop has an amazing view of the Acropolis and of Athens in general. The hotel breakfast was plenty, although the spread is the same (American buffet). It is also within easy access to the metro and walking distance from spots like Monastiraki, Kolokotroni, etc. They also have a mini gym and sauna!

Katerina and Kleopatra were amazing ! They made our stay exceptional . Attentive and respectful and friendly . Provided great recommendations as well . Looking forward to returning in the future . The hotel was clean and comfortable and had great food and bar service . Pool rooftop was beautiful and offered a great view.

The rooftop pool and terrace with a full view of the Acropolis are absolutely stunning — this is definitely the hotel’s strongest feature. The location is also convenient.

However, the rooms did not match that same standard. The “double bed” was actually two single beds pushed together, which was uncomfortable because of the gap in the middle. The marble flooring felt cold and not very cozy. The biggest issue was the poor sound insulation — we could clearly hear noise from the corridor and outside, which made it difficult to sleep. There was also renovation work during our stay, and we were woken up by noise starting from 9am.

We also had a late check-in, and unfortunately the receptionist was not very welcoming, which didn’t create the best first impression.

The view is impressive, but overall the room comfort, noise level, and service did not fully meet our expectations

Room clean. General areas tidy and cleaned regularly. Staff very helpful. Temporary building refurbishment so certain areas of the hotel currently experiencing a degree of noise but I am sure this will not be for too long, hence the current 4 stars.
