I had an unpleasant experience at touchstone resort. I checked in and got a room. After a while, we realized that the kitchen sink is half filled w water and there is no water supply, the faucet is wrapped by a maintenance rag. We were shocked and we had to rush to the restaurant for dinner as it closes at 8pm. We reported it to the front desk before dinner, then they said they know and they need to move us to another room. Why would they give us this room at first??? When we get the new key, we needed to pack our stuffs and moved to another room which is farther that we had to drive at night time. When we got to the new suite, it's nicer and bigger however the kettle is rusted and the kettle whistle is missing, the towel hanger is falling apart in the bathroom, the sliding door is not lockable, not working. I see hair on the pillows. It seems like it's not well maintained during off season. I'm glad that I'm only staying for one night. But the lake view is nice.

Room was clean and fully stocked. Winter activities did not live up to expectations. Equipment available (snowshoes) but no where to use it. No trails or even suggestions of where we could go to snowshoe. Snow and ice removal could have been improved. Limited parking due to snow. Ice buildup on road to our building and on stairs to our room was very dangerous!

We arrived in a snowstorm and there were no lights at the entrance of the hotel off the main road.
We booked a 3 bedroom villa for my moms birthday, when we checked in we were given a suite in the beach house down the hill and away from the main hotel. 2nd floor walk up, we expected ground floor.
The unit was much smaller than the pictures shown and the square footage much smaller than indicated. The unit was a 2 bed with an adjoining room to make it 3.
The unit was dirty. No remote for TV , the heat was not turned up. The outside light did not work. Then we went for dinner in the main hotel and returned to our unit with the front door wide open, wet boot prints inside up a back entrance, curtains and sliding glass door opened. We panicked thinking someone had broken in.
We are 3 women in the dark an no other guests or cars at the area we were in.
I called the front desk to report a break in and the man explained he had been in our unit to to turn off a smoke alarm ( there was no smoke) so he didn’t know why it was on but he shut it off opened the sliding glass door and then left but forgot to close the front door.
This is completely unacceptable.
We complained in the morning to Jessica the front desk who was very nice and tried to be helpful, she offered to move us to another villa, which we accepted ( no hot water) and was going to discount our stay but couldn’t as be booked through Expedia. We are not happy

The room was nice but a bit smaller than I expected. The view from the room was also very nice. Some negatives were that the one side of the bed had to be broken as it sank down like crazy. My husband said “it was like sleeping in a hammock”. We also used the pull out couch which wasn’t bad. The only negatives there were that under the couch has clearly not been cleaned in a while as we found paper there when pulling out the bed that was dated 2024. Also, there were no sheets or pillows for the pullout and when I asked for some, the young guy at the front desk shoved some sheets in a bag and handed it to me. No pillow or comforter were provided so we had to share pillows (they’re very large and hard) off the main bed and luckily we had a comforter in our car for emergencies so used it. I was headed into a Christmas party so I also had to drive everything down to our room.
The restaurant for the Christmas party was nice though! Food and drinks were good and the staff were very nice.

We did not see why we were paying for resort fees when there were really no usable amenities.

This hotel is the worst \"resort\". It functions like a one star motel. Conditions of the room are not upto standard, Our room did not have running water; water when it did run would take very long to heat up. The room was messy and dirt noted along the walls. The bathroom shower door would not properly close. Further, the window would not open to get some air! This could also be a huge fire hazard.
The balcony is like a communal balcony in that the guests next door could easily walk over to our balcony as there is no real barrier. This was shocking considering we traveling with two young kids and I was concerned for anyone being able to access our unit. Do not stay here! This property is the worst we have stayed in and we visit Muskoka yearly. It is absolutely not worth value for the money.
The hot tub is very small and restaurant on site is mediocre quality food, the only positive is the views of the property and location on lake Muskoka. We will not stay here again.

Instead, I was told that \"We don't do that here, just because you don't like your room, we don't move you\" Long story short, I was moved and enjoyed my 3 night stay. I booked a superior room and it ended up being a king sized bed with a patio that was shared by the people on both sides of me. My chairs were being \"borrowed\"
I went back to reception and asked for a room change, waited for the manager and was told \"we don't change rooms just because you don't like it\" I explained that i was a gold member of expedia and expected more. He said \"We dont do that here\"
Long story short, I was eventually moved and totally enjoyed our 3 night stay. But, I will suggest that a customer service refresher course may be needed by management (you know who you are)

Friendly staff upon arrival we received an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite. Unfortunately the apartment was full of dust ceiling fans were caked with dust. Water from faucets were yellow from the jacuzzi to the bathup. While the shower was on the washroom sink faucet had yellow water coming out. Could not use the washer and dryer to this problem. AC stopped working went down to reception to let the know. Maintenance came up to reset the valve. Once he opened the panel the filter was full of dust. The filter looked like it hadn’t been changed in years. Beautiful grounds and great view but not for allergy sufferers or for those don’t like a dirty apartment.

Resort needs attention to the finer details

The resort has good bones, but lots of little details are missed. Carpets in our room were dirty. Trees need to be pruned at the pool so the infinity pool has a lake view as it was intended. Dock bar was closed and looked like it hadn’t operated in a while. Stream room was broken. Lots of warped boards, peeling millwork, rotting wood planks, and other finer touches.

Swimming deck was the best part of the property.
There was no staff around, except jn the lobby.

Half of the lights either were never turned on or wernt working. So it felt very dark.

Its so close to being a really great spot.
Just needs better on site managment to keep up on the facility.

Property was bright and furnished comfortably. Desk clerks provided no map of property and no instructions. Coffee maker in room didn’t work and I never received a callback from my voicemail. I did see the front desk person and a new pot was delivered. Grounds were weedy, no mention of coffee in the lobby. Several beach chairs were torn. Sliding door screens were torn. On check out no one said how was your stay can we book you another stay. I inquired about a larger suite for another stay and no offer was made to show me one. There is no bartender so waitstaff mix drinks. Pool at the beach has trust coming through the sides from rebar and the floor is humped up. Signs say you must shower before use but no shower exists.

Great property, clean, near an ok maintained beach.

Personally, i wouldn’t come back here again; WAY too expensive. We stayed 4 nights, for what I would have done in the Caribbean -with all inclusive. Touchstone don’t even have breakfast included. It’s even more expensive than an all inclusive when you add 3 meals for a family.

Touchtone should really consider their price point and offer -at the least- one meal included.

View of Lake Muskoka was memorable. Kitchen was an added value so we could avoid going out for meals all the time. Conveniently close to Bracebridge.

This resort has been 100% renovated. It is beautiful! The rooms were awesome and we had full kitchen so made breakfast and snacks to save money. The restaurant had wonderful food and Bracebridge has many other options for dinning (The Barrel House was incredible!). It rained the two days/nights we were here but that's not their fault. Wonderful fitness room and hot tub as well.

Disappointing experience.

We arrived and checked in with a very friendly receptionist. We were surprised that there was no information booklet or map of resort supplied at check-in or in our room.
The fridge had an ice maker. The tray had defrosted and frozen again in a huge lump and there were a few cubes on top. it must have been there a long time as the cubes smelt and tasted awful so we had to go get ice at the reception building.
The door handles of the fridge were dirty and a few other things made it obvious that the room had not been cleaned properly. We cleaned some things ourselves.
After a wonderful meal at the resort,we realized that there was no power to lights, outlets or the tv in the bedroom and the window mechanism was broken and could not be opened. We reported both of these things the next morning. The electricity was fixed but we were told that the window could not be fixed. We were offered another room, which we were pleased about, but the bedroom in the new room was inferior to the one we already had. There was a cupboard for hanging things but no dresser, shelves or even a luggage rack for our clothes and other items. We decided to keep our less inferior room that we could not open the window in.
Compensation was suggested but the manager said that contacting Hotels.com for this was like trying to get through to NASA but he would try. We are still waiting to hear from him. We hope to hear from Touchstone or Hotels.com about our experience and compensation.

This is our second weekend stay at Touchstone in Muskoka and enjoyed staying at the property again. Its in a fairly remote location on lake Muskoka so its quiet and serene, an excellent place to get away from city life. There are several outdoor activities even in winter time like pond hockey, snowshoeing, fat bikes etc. Even more options in the summer I'm sure. There is a spa and restaurant on site as well. The condo style units we stayed at have all the amenities of home, even a washer and dryer. Nice little balcony facing the beach on the lake with a BBQ which is nice. The only gripes we had while staying there were, very slow wifi. Streaming a movie at night was impossible. Had to use my mobile data from my phone and worked perfectly after. Still, if you dont have unlimited data, that isn't an option and you would have to watch local tv. The second was parking. They need to assign parking spots for customers so there isn't a battle over parking. There were several times we left for a coffee, bite to eat and activities and came back to our spot stolen and all parking spots filled. This had us parking at a different beachhouse and had to trek through the snow to get back to our room. Lastly, on check-in they tell you there is no smoking anywhere on the property. Inexcusable to not provide smokers a spot to smoke safely. I had to stand on the side of a road, next to the entrance, with vehicles flying by at 80km/h . Otherwise a pleasant place to spend a romantic weekend.

Very nice and clean resort with a relaxing sauna, steam sauna and outdoors hot tub. The suite had a fireplace right beside the snowy balcony which felt very cozy. The receptionist was very friendly. I would definitely come back.

The resort has amenities of similar properties I have experienced and ample number of BBQs. The unit is spacious but lacks clothes storage drawers. The most critical note is that of safety; lack of property signage, lack of outdoor pedestrian lighting at night and for a new building, it is surprising that safety bars for the shower/tub enclosure are not provided. Further, the tub is slippery and lacks the liquid soap/shampoo dispenser.

We stayed at a standard room and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and had a cute little fireplace. The only small issue was that the coffee maker and the kettle weren’t clean so we couldn’t use them. The lake and the surroundings were beautiful and were at walking distance from our room. Was given a complimentary upgrade upon arrival to a suite which was excellent except it had steep stairs and I was travelling with an elderly person. Loved the upgrade but should have been told at the time about the stairs. Was ok, we made it work.
Beach area is lovely with a very large clear view of the lake, very quiet and very much enjoyed sunrise and sunset sitting on Muskoka chairs on the dock.
Could do a better job of removing spider webs at beach house entrance, and the weeds and bird droppings around the beach and docks, there was no remote for the bedroom tv or the gas fireplace, neither of which we used but were perplexed as to where they could be.
Beautiful, quiet setting, easy good highway driving to both Port Carling and Bracebridge. Golf course across the street we did not use but it is just beautiful, pristine!
Very much enjoyed this property and would return.

Good location in Muskoka, but very hilly to walk from the beach area to the infinity pool and again to the dock areas. Pools are very small. Water activities don’t start until things are unlocked after 8am. Sad because the water is so calm earlier in the morning. Food selection is okay, but did make me violently ill after dinner. Nothing is open until noon for food and if you want a muffin and coffee for breakfast you better be there when they put them out at 8am. They do not have enough for everyone. Best to bring your own chairs too if you are in the standard rooms. You won’t have room for it inside but there is a small deck facing the parking lot, but nice enough to sit and have breakfast or drinks.

Loved this resort we spent a few nights in the beach house it was right on the water overlooking the pool and lake. The beach was clean and having a pool beside it made it a bonus.My family absolutely loved it and we will be back next year.

Property grounds and our room were nice and clean. Our main criticism was that we found the menu quite limited and somewhat overpriced considering it was “average” (3 stars) tasting food. We were expecting 4 stars for the food. Spa service was 4 stars.

Beautiful property with some of the best views in Muskoka. The trees need to be pruned back to give more rooms water views. Nice 1bedroom unit, great shallow beach for kids and deep water off the swim dock. Disappointed that the restaurant didn’t serve any breakfast, bit of a pain to go into town. Otherwise great stay!
