Hard to beat for convenience as a traveler depending on the train & tram services, and an interest in exploring Potsdam on foot or via tram. If one uses the exit/entrance to the train station that's in a sort of shopping mall and just over the bridge (Lange Brukke area), it's easy to walk to/from the main station (Hbf), with a grocery store hidden away in that mall as well. Also very handy to a main tram interchange, the Tourist Info place, and the Alter Markt.

I didn't opt for breakfast on site and the restaurant was closed for dinner for some or all of my stay. But, there is a nice Mediterranean place just steps away.

Hotel staff were very friendly and kindly accommodated my request, based on other reviews, for a room somewhat distant from the elevator and on an upper level. I experienced no problem with noise although, with the fan on the A/C running at full power, some background sounds may have been covered.

Room was plenty large enough for 1 or 2;decent number of sturdy hangers, along with hanging space. A few more shelves (vs some oddly shallow cabinets - what do you do with something 4\"/10 cm deep?) would be more practical.

A/C struggled in the hot weather, but fortunately I was able to return to a Dutch hotel with more effective A/C before the heat wave really got going. Staff was very helpful in explaining the rather puzzling control system for the HVAC. Would love an in-room kettle for tea/coffee prep but not a standard in Germany it seems.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Hotel in Potsdam. The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel location is perfect; an easy walk from the train station and to the city centre, plus great a great view of the Havel river and surrounding countryside!

We stayed two nights and throughout our stay the stopper in our sink malfunctioned. We reported it on three occasions but it was not fixed. We were offered a change of room but this was not satisfactory as the first option was suggested after midnight on the first night and we were already for bed and the second offer was made the following afternoon as we were leaving the hotel to attend a weeding. On the morning we checked out our toilet would not flush.
While the food at breakfast was fine there is an issue with the layout of the serving station. There is only one station where all the food is laid out. So at busy times you can expect 30/40 people in a line. There are no trays so you are expected to carry whatever you want by hand. As all the food is laid out in this fashion you must move along the line even if you only want something e.g. fruit which is at the end of the serving station. If you forget something or wish an extra portion of something you must get back in line as it next to impossible to cut in. Also there is only one coffee station which again causes unnecessary queues.

Was okay. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was clean although no double bed for me and my partner 2 single beds. Not so comfortable. Also weird bathroom with no door on it.

Room was quite small. No tea / coffee maker in room either. But we brought own kettle. Dont understand why hotels dont have this especially at this price.

Other wise was ok. Location is fine around 10 mins walk from main station. 5 mins on tram to old centre.As said staff friendly and helpful.

Wifi as good.. 7 out of 10 for me.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and this was a rather surprising experience. When I tried to pay for dinner at their restaurant (where I had eaten many times before!) by charging my room, I was denied because they told me that I should have a card given to me at check-in, which would show that I had my CC on file with them. I had already my CC on file, but I never got this card. Next day when I checked with the reception, they told me that everything was fine and I do not need this magic card to charge to my room...?
The room was very noisy too, several of the neighbors were noisy and the windows are not keeping the street noise out, so I was working all afternoon to the tunes of a merry-go-round that was ~100 m away. The only reason I stay at this hotel is the location, proximity to my meeting venue, but in a future trip I will request a room not facing the main road. With some luck, the merry-go-round will not be there again either.

The rooms are fine and the hotel is conveniently located a few minutes from the train station. Unfortunately, the service is atrocious. For example, when we wanted to get dinner at the hotel restaurant, we were first pointedly ignored, then yelled at (!) because we apparently misunderstood the directions about which of the many empty tables we were allowed to sit at. On checkout, there was a single person at the large desk who moved very slowly, yet insisted that everyone, even those who pre-paid, must wait rather than just dropping off the keys. Getting the slow hotel wifi to work can also take a bit a bit of time. So, an OK place to stay if you are not in a rush, patient and thick-skinned. :)

Sehr freundliches Personal, saubere Zimmer, gutes Essen und zentral gelegen. Die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß erreichbar. Und wer weiter weg will, der hat sämtliche öffis direkt vor der Tür. Trotzdem ist es schön ruhig. Parkplätze sind vorhanden, aber es gibt auch genügend öffentliche Möglichkeiten zu parken. Enttäuschender Aufenthalt mit wenigen Lichtblicken

Schon beim Eintreffen im Mercure Hotel Potsdam wurden wir überrascht: Auf den Zimmern gibt es weder einen Kühlschrank noch einen Wasserkocher – für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie absolut unüblich und enttäuschend. Die Rezeption erklärte uns, dass dies in Potsdam wohl \"üblich\" sei. Ein schwacher Trost.

Der nächste Schock ließ nicht lange auf sich warten: Für unseren Säugling wurde lediglich ein normales Bett bereitgestellt. Auf Nachfrage hieß es, man bekomme von den Buchungsplattformen keine Altersangaben. Diese Ausrede erscheint wenig professionell, gerade wenn es um die Sicherheit von Kleinkindern geht.

Auch das gebuchte Dreibettzimmer enttäuschte – es war so klein, dass nicht einmal ein Kinderwagen hineinpasste. Erst nach einer Beschwerde an der Rezeption wurde uns ein anderes Zimmer zugewiesen, was zumindest zeigt, dass man bemüht ist, auf Kritik zu reagieren.

Ein weiterer negativer Höhepunkt war rostiges Wasser, das beim Einlassen in die Badewanne aus dem Hahn kam. Der Haustechniker am nächsten Tag erklärte, das käme daher, dass ich den Hahn selbständig ab- und wieder aufgedreht hätte – eine doch fragwürdige Erklärung für rostiges Wasser in einem Hotel.

Auch die Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Erst als ein Spielzeug unter das Bett geriet und wir es verrücken mussten, fiel uns der Staub und Dreck auf – offenbar wird dort nicht regelmäßig gereinigt.

Good hotel but poor restaurant

The hotel was really nice and situated in the center of Potzdam. The breakfast was also nice together with the service. But the restaurant for dining in the evening we really can't recommend. The waiter was really, really slow. Did not server bread for us. We had to wait very, very long to order and then to get our drinks. The food took nearly an hour to get and there were only about 4 other couples in the restaurant so it was not in any way buzy. There were plenty of food for the pork dish but for the fish it seems like a very, very small fish. So we paid a lot of money without value and went to the nearby restaurant to get dessert.

Die Lage des Hotels ist top. Alles ist fussläufig erreichbar. Die Sauberkeit in den Zimmern ist mittelmäßig. Gesäubert wird nur auf Wunsch und das Zimmer war trotz Nachfrage durch die Rezeption beim Housekeeping nicht fertig / gesäubert. Die Damen an der Rezeption haben in Punkto Freundlichkeit auch noch Luft nach oben. Das Frühstück war ausreichend, aber auch da steht das Hotel in Sachen Vielfältigkeit im Vergleich zu anderen Potsdamer Hotels nicht so ganz gut da. Am Schlimmsten war aber das Zimmer - tatsächlich keine Tür am Badezimmer und für Dusche und Toilette eine wechselseitig zu benutzende Glasschiebetür. Schränke waren praktisch auch nicht vorhanden. Einen der wenigen Parkplätze haben wir ergattert, aber der Weg dahin war auch kompliziert und ohne Service und das bei 24 € / Tag.
Leider kann ich das Hotel nicht weiter empfehlen.

Standardzimmer ist sehr klein. Toilette und Dusche mit einer Schiebetür zu schließen und ebenfalls sehr klein . Kaum Platz vorhanden Zimmer werden nur gereinigt wenn man die Rezeption darum bittet….. nach dem dritten Tag habe ich mal nachgefragt . Hier sollte beim Check in seitens der Rezeption an den Gast darauf hingewiesen werden !! Parkgebühr von 24€ pro Übernachtung schon heftig überteuert meiner Ansicht nach.

Fint hotel men ikke mange parkeringspladser. Et dejligt værelse, men med håndvask i rummet. Hvis man går på toilettet om natten, og skal tænde lyset, så tænder det automatisk ved håndvasken. Trist træks når man sover og lyset bliver tændt. Morgenmaden var fin. Der er forholdvis lydt på hotellet. Beliggenheden perfekt. Har ikke lader til elbil.

Die Hotelzimmer habe die Größe einen Schuhkartons. Bad und WC sind für Max. Eine Person gedacht. Der Gesamtzustand der Zimmer kann nur mit abgewohnt bezeichnet werden. Das Hotel bedarf dringend einer Renovierung. Parkplätze sind auch sehr eng bemessen. Mussten außerhalb entfernt für sehr viel Geld parken! Hotel nicht empfehlenswert Fotos auf der Internetseite entsprechen nicht dem realen Zustand des Hotel

Die unmittelbare Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof und der Blick aufs Wasser gefällt mir. Der Krach bis 24.00 Uhr, der von einem Musikfest ausgelöst wurde, war anstrengend.
