Very Disappointing.

My stay at the Hotel Casanova was awful for the following reasons:
1. When I checked out this morning the front desk man was drunk and was fumbling to facilitate my checkout at 4.00 am.
2. The staff did not assist me in booking my taxi to the airport despite raising it with them on multiple occasions causing me to nearly miss my flight this morning.
3. My room has multiple stains on the carpet.
4. No one helped me with my bags either on the way in or on the way out.
5. The cleaning staff kicked me and my son out of the room at 9.30 am saying that they refused to clean unless we left the room within 10 minutes.
6. I was overcharged quite significantly despite booking the hotel 6 months in advance as I checked hotels.com and I was charged nearly 33% more than I would have if I had booked the hotel the day before.

Very disappointing indeed. I won't stay there again.

Lovely little hotel in the middle of the shopping district just behind St Marks's Square. Excellent location. It was quiet at night. The hotel was clean and the beds comfortable, air-conditioned worked well (it was 34 degrees C during our stay). Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Unfortunately there was no bar service as there was no-one able to serve behind the bar despite there being a concierge on the desk at all times.
Good price and room was quite large for a hotel in this location.

A beautiful gem

My stay at hotel Casanova Venezia was absolutely amazing.
It is a beautifully appointed hotel with spacious room and great service besides a bit of language barrier. Their breakfast buffet was absolutely wonderful. More than you could ask for. Most everything was in walking distance that we wanted to see and wonderful restaurants to enjoy. It was close to the water bus and water taxi. I would definitely stay there again if I ever return to Venice. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Huge stains on carpet along with fuzz balls from carpet pilling. Had hotel organize water taxi back to the airport for 5 am, we were told that the desk person would show us how to get to the water taxi, well he spoke no English so we had no water taxi and almost missed our flight to London. The bed was made with the pillows half way down the bed underneath the covers, no toilet paper was available in the middle of the night. I expected more from a 4 star hotel in Venice stay elsewhere where…. You have been warned! Cost was over $500 CAD A NIGHT!!!

My daughter & i had a room in back of hotel, and 1st night there when we opened windows, there was a sewage smell. Looking at other reviews later, apparently there is a public toilet that abutts the back of the hotel

Our room had dark, old carpeting & just felt overall a bit blech.

HOWEVER, my parents had another room that wss amazing- a corner room with a street view & it felt very light & clean- maybe recently renovated.

I wouldn't stay here again unless i could request a room like that!

2 nights before a cruise

We stayed 2 nights, just before a cruise. Location is excellent. And close to the Grand Canal so water taxi’s to get to/from airport and train station/people mover made it easy to get there and eventually leave. Breakfast was included and was very good. Would recommend

Musty smell on the room

The location of the hotel is so convenient with the shopping area and tourist spots. The buffet is really good. The problem is our room, we have the suite room with a roof top view but the shower handle is defective water dripping on the bathroom when you shower going to the bedroo’s carpet. I could smell the mugginess around the room and its seems like I would breathe molds on the walls.

Just perfect location behind San Marco plaza and at the corner is San Marco Giardinelli vaporetto stop. From there you can roll your luggage to the hotel. Many restaurants around. Walkable to Rialto bridge. Quiet at night. Excellent buffet breakfast. Rooms are clean.

Quaint classic hotel. Our room was on the fifth floor. take elevator to fourth and then stairs a floor up. The wifi was weak and unusable. Bathroom was clean, room was nice size and had a cool view of the streets below. Breakfast was good with lots of cakes. It's only steps from San Marco square and very convenient to get to the major attractions as a first time tourist.

I have booked Junior Suite and in Expedia photo it had hardwood floor however one we landed had dirty yellow wall to wall carpet old fabric wallpapers and was nothing simillar to one displayed on Expidia when we booked. We complained to hotel management and they gave us different room in the morning, much better but still however still no hardwood floor but yellow spotty wall to wall carpet. Room is spacious with nice furniture. beds are comfortable and bathroom was in withe marble and clean. Daily cleaning and great breakfast. However i was very disaponted because I booled pricy room with hardwood floor that Expedia showed I booked and it was not even close to ot and not worth the price we paid for the room. Avoid! False advertising.

This was a VERY neat place to stay in Venice. It is just a short walk (2-3 blocks) from St. Mark's Square. It's the only place in our 10 day trip to Italy that had breakfast (more than just a cornetti!). The cafe across the street was awesome for late night snack or a beer while we waited for the girls to get ready!

The location is the best part of this hotel. 3 minutes walk to Saint Marks square. The breakfast which was included was a nice addition. We had booked the Suite with the two bedrooms. It was on the 5th floor. Only surprise was that the hotel’s elevator only goes up to the 4th floor. You would have to walk up one extra flight of stairs to reach the room which would be tough if you had a lot of baggages. The rooms and beds were comfortable but as mention in other reviews already, the room ceiling is not that high. I’m 5’6 and my head reach to one or two of beam doors from the bathroom. So would not work well for taller guests.

We chose this hotel for the proximity to Marco Polo airport Venice for our early flight. The hotel offered free airport shuttle.

The room was clean and comfortable. Staff welcoming. However there was a major water leak through upper floor into our room when we were sleeping - we had to put out buckets. Then our morning shuttle was 25 m late, which caused us to almost miss our flight home - stressful and unnecessary.

There are conventional hotels - eg marriot right there as well - just thought we’d finish our trip with a unique stay. Not everything it should have been.

The breakfast area was full for our 3 days (different times) & we could not get a table unless for 2. The staff were available but not engaging or overly helpful. Basically the hotel is a good choice for location plus B&B but not if you expect 4* plus.

The hotel is perfectly located and very nice. The room was large and the bathroom had plenty of space for two women. The staff was lovely with the exception of the young girl with the long dark hair and ridiculous eyelashes.
She was on her phone the entire time we were checking in and could not have given a damn less about us.
She’s a detriment to the front desk.
Everything else was absolutely perfect.

Great location, steps to square, shopping and food. Victoria style interior, good size able open 2 big luggage. Good same breakfast daily such as scramble eggs, sausages, ham, croissant, bread. Only thing is no free bottle of water, they charge €2.50 if request. No kettle, no toothbrush/ toothpaste but they provide shampoo and bar soap. Overall we had a wonderful stay as it’s also carnival in Venice where many dress up like a party.

The hotel shares the good features along with things shall be improved:
1, great location, walk to many most important sightseeing landmarks in 5 to 30 minutes, too many restaurants, bars, shops near by.
2, the hotel's guest rooms are updated, clean and functional. The complementary buffet breakfast is good.
3, the manager and staff are friendly, helpful.
4, the price is reasonable.
5, the guest rooms has strong sour fume when first entered, maybe disinfectant was used since our stay was in the Covid period? It will be better if the staff gives a head-up to the newly arrived guests. We spent 30 minutes to get used to the fume every evening after return from day trip in Venice :).

This review is especially useful for those with accessible / mobility challenges and use a wheelchair or scooter. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on July 23. Overall the hotel was great as it is located close to St Marks and you are not traveling through half of Venice with your luggage. I travel with a small electric scooter that is smaller than the average wheelchair and a minor complaint is that the elevator was awkward as it had a different lobby floor entrance door than a room floor entrance door that were perpendicular to each other and there was no room to maneuver my scooter to get out. Scooter needed to come down on a separate trip. There are also a couple of steps to get into the hotel but was aware before I booked. Actually there is a rear entrance that only has one smaller step that we only figured out the second day. If you can manage a few steps and stand for a bit, it’s all doable. The lady at the front did offer us a bigger room so that was a nice touch. Rooms are very clean, washroom was very new and air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was included and was more than reasonable. I would have given it a 4.5 but not an option

Location!! Just 5 minute walk from Piazza di San Marco and 5 min. From the San Marco Valoresso vaporetto stop. - strangely I received an email the day before checking in stating they had attempted to charge my credit card and needed to do so before arrival or my reservation would be canceled. I assured them I was due to arrive. There is no luggage bell service- and no water waiting in room for us. Would be helpful to have on arrival. On arrival we asked for restaurant recommendations and were given excellent recommendations!
Rooms were clean (we asked for two rooms) they were different floors, but that was ok. One was dark with only one window facing another building's courtyard. The other did have three good windows. In both rooms, we heard a lot of walking noise from guests in upper rooms.
Loved having elevators!
Breakfast provided what we needed- eggs, pastries, coffee, etc.
overall - it was clean, but felt some itching from blankets...???...
Our room had windows facing a night club nearby- but it quieted down around 11 pm.
We stayed three nights and had to leave before breakfast the last day.
We asked to be reimbursed for the last breakfast we had already paid for, (x4 people). They said they couldn't (???)
So we were given (breakfast to go)- that included water bottle and pre package (2 Oreo) cookies and prepackaged croissant- similar to airplane snacks- nothing warm and no coffee. Disappointed to say the least. But Overall, we do recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful, it is a bit old, but you are in Venice I feel it goes with the vibe as the decoration is wonderful. My rooms view was beautiful with a close balcony with windows to the streets. It was clean, except for the carpet, I don’t like hotels with carpets in general because of this, but oh well I was only there for a day! The staff was very nice and helpful, I paid for breakfast to be included, but I was leaving really early in the morning to catch a flight and they arranged a to go box with snacks for me! They booked a taxi and printed my flight ticket. The personal that helped me when leaving didn’t speak English so it was difficult for us to comunícate, luckily my taxi driver walked to pick me up from the hotel and helped with translation, but the hotel person was very nice and made his best to help me print my flight ticket.

Hotel Casanova Venezia was one of the worst hotels I stayed at. It lacked facilities that it advertised. Their customer service was atrocious and were least empathetic to customer needs. Venice was the last stop of our week long trip and this hotel ruined our trip.

We booked the most expensive room in the hotel, 'The Suite'. There is only one Suite in the hotel. The room photos at the time of booking showed kitchen with a stove, dish washer, etc. But, apparently, those can't be and shouldn't be used. Those were, as they put it, just for pictures. The kitchen doens't have any basic utensils such as plates, spoons, etc. I paid a lot of money for this room as my son had food allergies and can't consume outside food. Hotel staff couldn't care less about our special needs. They were definitely the rudest staff I have come across. I deeply regretted booking this hotel. Please stay away if you care about customer service.

Rock hard mattress & awful pillows. At checkout on a Sunday, I had to pay the local tax (27€) in cash. I didn’t have small bills so it was a slight issue. That should be explained upon checkin. All that said, I’d recommend it for a stay in Venice.

Located only 2 minutes walk away from ACTV water bus (vaporetto) stop and St Mark's Square mean more time to explore Venice. Bars, restaurants & shops within walking distance means no need to worry about finding transport back to hotel in the night. Use mosquito repellent at night in the hotel even during relatively cold November to avoid mosquito bites. Be prepared to accept no English TV channels & good enough quality of breakfast (in contrast to excellent) in favour of convenient location.

Personnel non better. Professional and kind. Breakfast was to die for. Amazing. They even packed a to go treat when we mentioned an earlier than usual exit. My only and you will find this comment consistent with U.S. Travelers is that the bed was to firm and had the two beds pushed together issue. My bad because I could have gotten a better bed if I gave more info upon booking. I am a light sleeper and this location and hotel was extremely quiet. Serious probably one of the best I have ever slept in and I have traveled extensive.

Not so good experience with this hotel. For over a week Hotels.com tried to reach the hotel to make a change to my reservation with no sucess, no one is picking up the phones, even when they answer they dont have anyone with authority to make changes.

Check in process was smoth and easy. Hotel location is awesome as everywhere is within walking distance, boat stop is couple min walk.

This hotel is very very old, 2020 and they are still using old physical keys for rooms!

They gave us a room in 5th floor, elevator only goes to 4th floor, so we had to take the stairs with our luggage for one more floor.

Brekfast was provided for free with multiple selection, nothing fancy it was typical hotel breakfast but we liked it because it was provided for free!

Wifi was fast for our use no complaint here.

Unless this hotel goes to whole refurbishment we will not stay here. You get what you pay.

This us an affordable hotel in an amazing location, rooms are furnished in an old way, but tired, but I’d stay here again.
Expect though the worst attitude from the reception staff, we encountered Two and they were both extremely rude, jaded from too many tourists I guess?

The hotel was a great location and the room was nice but the fridge wasn’t cold and the room temperature was very warm and we couldn’t turn it down and the one day we didn’t have hot water all day until 10 pm and when we called and when we called about all these items they had said it was coming from outside. Not their fault. Nothing was ever done and nobody ever came to our room to fix or even look at the issues. Being a builder I don’t believe that. When we left we asked about a rebate and he shrugged his shoulders and pretended not to speak English well. I had talked to him already.

The reception team was not helpfull. And also they did not tell us the hotels details(room service, receptions number, checkout details). We did not have any water in our room and could not reach the reception. We needed to go downstairs latenight to get water.

Beautiful room, friendly staffs and great service

My family and I are staying here for 2 nights it’s just 2 minutes walked from San Marco Square and 3-5 minutes from the water taxi port. The hotel is newly renovated and cleaned, the staffs are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is superb and it’s right close to everything. Our room is beautiful and spacious, but the we had to go up on a staircase because the elevator only goes to a 4 floors, but that’s okay for us, because my husband and son can carry our luggage to our room. We like the on the 5th floors because it’s very private. We stayed here in the middle of April 2019

Do not stay at Hotel Casanova Venezia. First, upon our arrival to drop off our baggage the female working the front desk was incredibly rude. She was on a personal phone call when we walked in and seemed irritated when she had to pause to assist us. Second, the room itself was decorated nicely, but our bathroom had an extreme sewage smell that got worse the longer we were there. When we first got to our room we noticed the unpleasant smell, but it was bearable. By the next morning though the smell was so bad that we had to use the bathroom downstairs to brush our teeth, etc. When we mentioned this issue to the staff member, another female, she neglected to apologize for this and only said that was to be expected in buildings in Venice. We didn't experience this in any other building, or the other hotel we stayed in prior to our cruise, though. Next, we were also upset about the fact that when we went to check out the next morning and to pay the city tax fee for our stay to be informed that they do not accept card for this. Having spent our euro's the night before, we did not have cash. We told the lady that we had a taxi reserved in 13 minutes and she told us sorry, but we would have to go find an ATM because the hotels in Venice can't accept card for this fee (which we knew was not true because our other hotel had done so with no issue) After further complaining and saying we felt this should have been stated beforehand, she then let us pay with a card. Do not stay here!
