Good stay. I don’t have much else to compare to in Bali but this felt like good value for money, enough variety of menu options to easily keep us going for a couple of days, and lovely views. Nowhere is without its flaws - an active port with some late night ship noise and hard beds (personal preference) but was fine overall.

Our favourite place in Bali

Each bungalow is separate and surrounded by luxuriant flowering vegetation. The area is peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of Padangbai, which is only 10 minutes walk away. The resort has a free bus service, on request, to and from the town. A lovely place to chill and watch the boats and ferries. Would recommend hiring a car to visit Tirta Gangga and Tenganan.

all over we enjoyed our stay the only thing i would like to mention mattress needs to be replaced it has a major dent in the centre so you basically fall into it sleeping on the edge didnt work either . As i hve sold beds for 20 years this was a bit of a downer

Property is totally unique. Beautiful and secluded from the busy town but only steps away from everything and if you want to go further they have a free shuttle. We felt so spoiled by the luxury and beauty of this oasis.

We enjoyed our stay. The views are stunning. Padangbai is a quieter and seemingly more authentic area in Bali. We managed a number of good scuba diving excursions. There is an amazing snorkling beach with beautiful corals and fish literally 5 minutes from Bloo Lagoon. In fact it's called Bloo Lagoon Beach.

We can recommend Bloo Lagoon Eco Village as a place to stay but know what you are signing up for. The biggest short coming is the lack of air conditioning and Bali is hot and humid. Sleeping in this heat can be uncomfortable. Secondly, this is not a house. The walls don't extend to the roof meaning that the bugs are free to enter. We didn't really have a problem with bugs and the beds are covered by mosquito netting but the experience is much closer to glamping then it is to a resort. Amenities were basic but sufficient.

What an amazing place!! The views from the room were nothing other than stunning. You wake up to see the sea and mountains! It's so peaceful too.

The staff were great. Very accommodating also. Dining is exceptional! Breakfast also. I cannot think of a bad word to say about the place.

The pool is lovely. Slide is also good fun. The shuttle bus is very handy given the somewhat steep hill up from the town.

What a lovely eco resort. Carefully designed villas catch the breeze, with interesting art all around. Panoramic views, great pool, morning yoga and fab massages. Food was excellent and staff helpful and very welcoming. Initially a bit of a shock at the al fresco, but well screened by plants, bathroom but very quickly grew to love it. Good water management scheme and staff training. Would love to go again.

Bloo Lagoon Review

Unique selection of villas. We loved our huge deck overlooking the bay and the volcano. Could do with up-grading the a/c units and adding them to rooms without them. Bathrooms need non-slip tiles, and showers need attention. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Prices extremely good. It’s on a hill, so be prepared for steps. Padangbai is a laid-back village. Several restaurants - local and westernised with good pricing. Not a lot of nightlife, but excellent for chilling. We took advantage of the free yoga everyday, the cooking class - delicious, and the spa.

We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas here. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. There was a lovely quiet beach within a short walk and the free shuttle to the nearby town was most useful and convenient.
Our bungalow was delightful, but our only complaint would be that only one of the two bedrooms was air conditioned and fully enclosed by glass, leaving the other uncomfortably warm and open to mosquitoes.
However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and took full advantage of the lovely pool, spa, restaurant and yoga sessions.

If you want “rustic” and to feel like you’re really in the jungle this is the place for you. Went downstairs to our “enclosed” air conditioned room to find a swarm of HUNDREDS of mosquitos in our room and all over our stuff. This place has a lot of potential and beautiful views, but it’s hard to relax when your fighting off mosquitos the whole time. Also weird bugs and larvae crawling around all over the bathroom and toilet. Also zero blackout curtains so you’ll wake up when the sun comes up. No sleeping in

This is an absolutely stunning property and definitely for you if you want total relaxation. At first I was worried this would be too far from some of the sights we wanted to see in Ubud and other areas, but turns out this wasn’t an issue. Bloo Lagoon worked with us to arrange private drivers for all sorts of sights (Mount Batur, Monkey Forest, temples, markets, snorkeling). The staff was friendly, professional, and so willing to help whenever needed. The open air rooms are incredible. I absolutely enjoyed the geckos—they are everywhere! The restaurant is delicious and perfect if you are looking for vegetarian and vegan options! We ended up eating there every night and honestly it was a favorite part of the day—-the view is gorgeous! I can’t recommend this place enough and I’m so happy to have stayed there!!!

Great Serene Place - let down by the restaurant

This place is rustic but beautiful. Probably has the best position on the crest overlooking the ocean of any accommodation in Padangbai we loved it.
The staff were amazing and the spa is great for a massage too. The shuttle service up and down the hill makes it easy to get around too.

Only drawback was the restaurant - we thought it was a once off - but it took over 2 hours to get dinner one night. And then the breakfast was lukewarm in electric warmers - which weren’t stocked well either. Since we were travelling with 3 children - the efficiency and cleanliness of the restaurant is important. If travelling alone or with your partner this is one of the best places to stay in town

Super fun rustic unique architecture on the top of the local promontory. Not a traditional hotel as the individual villas are privately owned and leased out by Bloo Lagoon. This makes for a fantastic collection of interesting visitors with great local knowledge. Great restaurant! Awesome pool! Beautiful landscaping.

Amazing Stay at Bloo Lagoon. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The setting was gorgeous, set on the top of a cliff our Villa overlooked the bay and we were surrounded by lush vegetation and lively wildlife, even getting a visit from monkeys one morning. The food was delicious, I didn't find one thing on the menu I didn't like! They have a red rice Nasi Goreng that is the best I have ever had. The rooms are well maintained and airy and each villa seems very private, your own little oasis. The pool was quiet and well looked after, great for relaxing around and a refreshing dip. I didn't make much use of the yoga facilities. I would happily stay again any day.

Beautiful place, wonderful people, amazing food

We loved our time at Bloo Lagoon Village. The ecologically conscious, socially-aware design and aesthetic was a relief as compared to other fancy and not-so-fancy places we've stayed in Bali. The food here was amazing and the staff were super friendly and caring. One of our favorite aspects of the place is the free yoga in the morning, it made it effortless to really attend to our bodies and start the day right. We are missing it already. The pool has a great design, with a water slide our daughter loved and a very cool hidden grotto, all surrounded by beautiful vegetation. The town of Padangbai was not very inspiring, being a port town, and the Blue Lagoon Beach close by was unfortunately quite filled with detritus and trash - probably because we were there during the rainy season in Dec/January when Bali's beaches get the brunt of the ocean's trash. However, the area around Padangbai has a lot to offer, in particular we really liked the White Sand Beach, or Virgin Beach about 45 minutes north of Padangbai, which was super clean and beautiful, despite the rainy season. So the Bloo Lagoon Village in my opinion serves as a great base for exploring East Bali and is a welcome and caring place to just relax into. We highly recommend it for anyone wanting to be in the area.

The view from our Villa and the restaurant was amazing. It was really beautiful. We had a great view of the harbour but unfortunately when it was time to go to sleep in very uncomfortable beds the noise from the harbour echoed straight into our Villa and none of my family got any sleep. All we heard were extremely loud horns from the boats. We had booked and paid for 5 nights. There was no way we could stay another night.
It was such a shame as the pool was perfect for the kids, I had the best massage and the food was fine, service was very slow in the restaurant though. It was a love, hate experience.

Unique indoor/outdoor experience- excellent staff

This is a really unique and special place but it takes the right attitude to make it great. It could just as easily be disappointing if you are not ready for such a different indoor outdoor experience. The staff is incredible and ready to drop everything to help. They even have shuttle service to Padangbai and Bias Tugal beach for free. They also arrange transfers to other parts of Bali in their van which ended up being helpful. The restaurant food never disappointed us with the quality and variety. This is however indoor outdoor living! The kitchen and living room is like a thatch roof covered patio so there are bugs. The showers were outdoors. The bedrooms are mostly enclosed with mosquito nets and even AC in one so that was a refuge at night. We thought it was all great!

A Blootiful Stay at Bloo Lagoon

Fab boutique hotel situated on a hill above Padangbai, Lovely pool (plus water slide) and plenty of loungers. Great restaurant with panoramic sea views. Shuttle buses always are on hand if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill or to the further of the 2 local beaches. Watch the waves at white sand beach if you have small children. You can watch the turtles playing in the waves there though!
We had a great sea view villa with 3 beds and an open plan verandah and kitchen area (hot drinks, fridge etc).
Padangbai is a sleepy port which still has a back-packer feel to it. It has periods of frenetic activity with the arrival and departure of the fast boats to the Gilis which adds to its charms.
There are plenty of dive shops. We (2 adults, 3 children) dived Nusa Penida and saw Manta and Mola- Mola

Special place for a Bali holiday

The self-contained bungalows have everything you need - our 2-bedroom one had an extra double bed for the kids up in the roofspace - indeed, that's why Expedia let us book it for 6 people, a.n.other hotel site told us there was no availability as this was the last bungalow left and notionally had just two double beds. The Bloo Lagoon Village has a great pool and waterslide, a restaurant with excellent home-cooked food, free wifi, superb views over the bay from both bungalow and restaurant, and easy access to Padangbai town. It's quiet, relaxed, a great place for a family holiday. We want to go back..!

Bloo Lagoon location is unbeatable. Breath taking views from the restaurant and the villas. Free shuttle is very hand as we used it on number of occasions. SPA is excellent. Very high standard. I had a manicure and pedicure and few massages. There is no decent SPA that I found in Padangbai. Hotel is handy location you can easily walk to the village. There is number of dive centres. We used OK Divers. Very happy with it. MANTA point is amazing dive spot. Food in the restaurant is excellent. There are two beaches nearby. Bloo Lagoon black sand Beach that is few steps away a little hike down. Its excellent snorkelling but its filthy. It’s not maintained at all. We didn’t go to the other one. Rooms aren’t the cleanest. Sheets and towels should be replaces and you will find ants in the bathrooms etc. I liked the outdoor bathrooms but didn’t enjoy open air cottages. Even with the mosquito net on you would get bitten prefer not having number of gekos in the room etc. Lots of bugs around – just not something I liked and for that reason I wouldn’t be back but saying that my husband loved everything about this place.

The facilities in general are very neat and pretty, although sometimes a little rough around the edges. Our room had a beautiful deck with a beautiful view. But, our room was essentially open-air. It has a roof of course, and is secured from common areas, but it is open to the deck and nature in general. So no air conditioning, and not sealed off from ants and other insects. There is a mosquito net for the bed, but ultimately it feels a little like camping. If that doesn't bother you, and you are not looking for 5 star perfection, it is a really interesting and unique place to stay for a night or two.

Eco Resort with 5-Star Views, Staff and Experience

My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The first thing I'll say is that you need to understand that this is an eco-resort. If you understand that, you can appreciate the reuse of water, the exposure to nature and insects, and the geckos and toads you become friends with. We went during the rainy season so we were actually exposed to more of the weather, flora and fauna than you would during the dry season and we had a BLAST.

The hotel staff are incredibly polite, attentive and genuinely care about your experience. We had so many conversations with them that it felt like we were leaving a friend or family's house when we left - a real bed & breakfast vibe. The views from any of the villas are spectacular. Again, although the facilities and rooms are exposed to the elements, everything is always clean and kept up well. The master bedrooms are enclosed. The patios overlook the bay and are spacious and open. The outdoor showers are also really fun. The free shuttle service takes you anywhere around town you like, even if you have multiple stops. The pool is relaxing with a sloping entry as much as its fun with its water slide and grotto. The Bloo Lagoon beach, which is within walking distance, is a wonderful snorkeling and sunbathing spot.

We can't say enough great things about this place.

Amazing Bloo Lagoon village.

We loved our stay at Bloo Lagoon Village. The people are so friendly there, the place is amazing and run in a very ecologically responsible and mindful way supporting the local communities in Padangbai. We really enjoyed our beautiful views over the sea and of the sunrise and volcano, as well as taking part in their morning yoga class. It was just lovely. I can't wait to return there.

A great place to stay for 2 or much more days.

We stayed for 2 nights in bloo lagoon village. The individual bungalow has a great architecture, plenty of room, fantastic sea view on one of the hotpot for diving, and I even saw from the balcony a magna ray fish swimming close to the coast. It can be qualified as rather rustique, toilet and shower are in open-air, but with sufficient privacy. All was very pleasantly surprising, including lack of TV (WiFi ok). Interesting is the proximity with the village and a small, almost private beach. X-mas buffet, with traditional music and dancing, was simple and pleasant. Spa was also OK, in a semi-outdoor environment (nature creating a relaxing sound on the background). During our stay, it was a little too warm, and some frogs were a little too noizy) to have totally relaxing nights.

Everything about this hotel is superb. From the ocean view at the villa to the quality of the staff. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is so restful and allows you to enjoy the true beauty of bali. What was really special for us was having a family of monkeys living in the tree opposite.

Bloo Lagoon is a really unique, mostly outdoor experience with amazing views and a really fun pool area. As others mention, there are bugs and it's not fancy, but the trade-off is worth it in the end to really feel like you're getting away from the noise and bustle of the more crowded parts of Bali. The staff doesn't move fast, but they're super friendly and always took care of things - they really seem to care and take pride in their work. The spa is great too - a wonderful massage overlooking the ocean, what could be better?

Relaxing get away

We stayed in a villa on the top of the point that looks back to the port on one side and out over the bay towards Candidasa on the other. The port is a 24 hour port and some might find the distant noise at night a problem. I mentioned this to the staff and we were offered a villa on the Candidasa side, but as the sounds didn't bother us we stayed where we were.
They have an on demand bemo shuttle bus to take guests into town. When it's time to be picked up from the port village, you can call reception, or ask the restaurant you are in, to ring for you . We never waited more than a few minutes for the return lift.
The massages were good, ( I had a one hour foot massage) and there is a relaxing atmosphere throughout.

People choose this hotel because of the advertising of a private beach. But beach is very disappointing. Dirty, no chairs, no towels, no service, treacherous walk to beach.
Room charge was wrong, breakfast should have been included, but was charged.

A unique experience for a family breakaway

Unique, quiet and relaxed. Living so closely to the animals and plants may not be everyone's idea of luxury but the views could not be bettered, nor could the hospitality of the staff. Our stay of 5 nights represented the final stage of our 2 week holiday in Bali and provided everything we had hoped for in terms of relaxation and enjoyment after a hectic time on the island beforehand.

Bloo Lagoon experience

The Bloo Lagoon resort was a little run down. The concept of basic living with minimal impact on the environment was good but our room needed door handles & a place to hang our clothes. The view from our room was stunning. Location in quiet fishing village was great but the hill from the village to the resort was quite steep, upon saying that, there was always a prompt shuttle service available by Blue Lagoon for your convenience.
The open-air resort kitchen/dining area was unappealing and the food was not inspiring.
Massage & facials were of high quality & did require bookings.
Overall, we loved our experience at Bloo Lagoon as it gave us a chance to experience the more traditional Balinese lifestyle with no frills.

We stayed 4 days at Bloolagoon village at the end of November.This is a very quiet period in Bali and only few other guests were at bloolagoon. The staff was very friendly and the check in easy . The hotel acknowledged our booking promptly after I e mailed them prior to our arrival. They upgraded us for free from a one bedroom to a large 2 bedroom bungalow.One of the bedrooms could be closed with glass doors and was aironditioned. We had the most fantastic view over the bay . The whole villa is open plan with simple furniture built around the rocks and very sympathetic to the environment. Loved the wildlife including our own toads and geckos and the occasional visiting ginger cat Manis. The bathrooms are outdoors with tropical plants and simple showers built into the rock. Only criticism was the poor lighting in the outdoor bathroom and the need for a torch to have a shower after dark. The small outdoor restaurant serves some simple dishes but we preferred the local Warungs for dinner. We found our stay very relaxing and had a great time.We would certainely go back. Good torch is a necessity and I would only recommend it to people who are fit to walk up and down the steep hill and don't mind to mix with some of the local wildlife.

Das Hotel ist auf einem Berg errichtet und hat ein Nachhaltigkeitskonzept. Die Bungalows sind aus Holz und halb offen. Man kann sie nur mit Bambusmatten, die wie Rollos funktionieren zur Nacht verschließen. Dadurch viele Tiere im Raum. Der Ausblick über das Meer ist dafür aber fabelhaft. Die Bungalows sind schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Der Pool ist recht groß. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Große Auswahl. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der kostenlose Shuttletransfer in die Stadt. Ohne wäre der Weg zum Hotel auch zu beschwerlich. Fazit: Wenn man mit den nächtlichen Tieren klar kommt, erhält man dafür einen wunderschönen Ausblick. Uns würden die Tiere und der Zustand des Bungalow eher von einem weiteren Besuch abhalten.

Pros: The view of the mountain (if you are lucky that the clouds disappear) is impressive. Yoga space and having free yoga lessons were great. Free shuttle to town was great!

Cons: It is called eco village but I wouldn't go that far. There are some sustainable practices like having own vegetable garden and refilling shampoo bottles but there are so many unsustainable processes, it makes you question the title. For example: AC is available in only one room in the villa, since the other room does not have a roof, but the roof of the one with the AC has so many holes, I felt sorry for trying to cool down the room that is not even sealed. They still use gas to warm up the water 😔

We had seven monkeys roaming in our terrace although we hadn't left any food outside. They just climbed the terrace when we were there, opened our bags, roamed in the kitchen and the bedroom!! We hid ourselves in only room that had a roof and called the reception to come and help us. One even left back to the forest with one of our bags! Considering this I really recommend having roof to both of the rooms.

Overall please be aware that animals including monkeys come and go - found so many different types of animal poop.
The resort faces a huge LPG depot positioned in the bay which is ruining the view. Apparently there were spilling accidents in the past and people do snorkeling there 😞
Considering the relatively high price of the resort, we were disappointed by the quality.

Amazing place!

Amazing place with excellent views, comfortable room, and outdoor shower. The staff were very helpful and communicative, and the shuttle takes you or collects you from anywhere in the village, for no extra cost. The restaurant has almost 360 degree views and you can watch boats and dolphins while you eat. Highly recommended!

It was very unique with its view a the restaurant was great but it was also very unique with the amount of insect you had to deal with in your room/sleeping area.
Even in a “closed” compartment were so many insects that it was uncomfortable.
For this price I can’t recommend even with the unique view.

Luxe , calme et volupté !

Nous avons passé un incroyable séjour avant de prendre le bateau pour les iles Gilli . C’est très calme, une magnifique vue et le restaurant fabuleux. Nous avons pu profiter du spa et les massages sont divins . Le seul regret est d’être rester qu’une seule nuit !
