This hotel is in Candidasa. Quietly tucked away from the rest of Ubud. It was close to the Lempuyang, and Besakih Temples. Also close to Amed Restaurant, where most people go for beautiful sunsets.

We had a fantastic stay. We were 10m from the ocean and the room was awesome. Had a great shower and bath. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The complementary boat ride to The Blue Lagoon for snorkelling every second day was so good.

Overall our experience was wonderful, it was a perfect opportunity to switch off and relax from the pressure of life. The grounds and staff are exceptional and couldn’t do enough for you. The accommodation is stylish with plenty of room however there’s a mould smell which was probably from our roof which leaked when it rained. A lot of insects in the also.

The highlight of this property is the staff and the location. Beautiful gardens, sea front pool and bungalows.
Note: there is no beach at this property. But you are right in front of the sea.
The property has been fully refurbished less than a year ago so everything looks good. The decor is lovely, amazing gardens.
The staff is extremely accommodating, welcoming and just lovely to deal with.
We stayed at the Ocean view bungalows - incredible! You wake up with the sound of waves and birds. Just amazing!
My only comments would be:
The bathroom floors are extremely slippery when wet.
There was sometimes an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. But it wasn’t constant so couldn’t really understand why.
Breakfast is good. There could be some improvement on bakery goods. But they have an amazing selection of asian and western breakfasts. We really liked the guava juice.
We ate at the restaurant one evening and it was ok, but our most expensive meal during our stay. There are a lot of restaurants close by that offer a free pickup/drop off service for dinner.
Overall we would recommend Nirwana Beach Resort!

Absolutely amazing experience I can absolutely recommend this place. STAFF is amazing. I checked in late 2 of them welcomed me next morning I wake up and walking around every staff that I encountered called me by my name. I was blown away by how they know who am I. Absolutely 10*

The resort and the grounds are lovely and meticulously maintained. Absolute waterfront position... stunning. Staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. While it is a little way out from the main restaurant strip, the resort can organise transport at a very small fee or restaurants offer free pickup and drop off service.

Resort is down a deserted lane well off the road making it inconvenient. Food at Resort is poor which is made even worse because it is inconvenient to get to town. More free water should be given because of this as well.Not good value for money compared to other resorts in this class in Bali.

Beautiful tranquil resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights of complete rest and relaxation.
The Nirwana staff were excellent & so polite & friendly.
The pool is reasonably maintained & is perfectly positioned facing out to the ocean.
The rooms are very comfortable for the price.
The gardens & grounds are very pretty & we'll maintained. Would highly recommend a massage at the Spa, we had one every day!

Beautiful hotel but showing some signs of age. Things are falling apart a bit but it's still a beautiful place. Staff is friendly but they could not charge our food purchases to my credit card at checkout because the machine didn't work so I lost out on a lot of points. Their restaurant is really good. Overall okay stay. Great for a few nights to relax. WiFi DOES NOT work in rooms. We had the closest room to the restaurant and it still didn't work. Had to sit next to the pool or in the hotel.

Had to ask for bedding to be changed on arrival as dirty brown stain on sheets. Room was dusty and there were drapes hanging over the bed that were ripped; and filthy. Couldnt wait for the one night stay to end, No access to the beach from resort. Unable to go for a walk as the road in was littered with stray dogs and chooks. And the resort on a cliff so cant go anywhere. Very unpleasant stay for what we paid

We had an ocean view room, to be fair it looked like most rooms faced the ocean so not sure the extra was merited. The ocean noise sounded like a thunderstorm crashing all night so may cause sleep problems. The waves are big here and you cannot swim in the sea.

The hotel grounds were immaculate bar a few incidents of cat excrement on the grass. Pool was nice.

Breakfast was to order and reasonable although our \"healthy choice\" muesli was dry and tasteless.

The room was good but again a small makeover would up things that extra level.

The hotel and outlook was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and gardens sensational and I enjoyed lovely Balinese meals at the restaurant. No complaints whatsoever about the Hotel.

However, the driveway into the Hotel were in poor repair and rough.
The bathroom in my room was huge and clean but had a part where I think it would have been nice to have some garden/greenery instead of dirty old black rocks.

Spent 6 nights to chill out.. resort is a little dated but maintained well.. staff are excellent - they seem to appear when you need them, without hovering.. menu was great and prices very reasonable... We used our own driver for a couple of day trips to Ubud and local villages and transfers... We stayed in an ocean view bungalow - resort is well set out so you have privacy but good access to pool, restaurant and gardens...

A little piece of paradise

Never felt more welcome at any destination than in this beautiful resort in quiet little Candidasa. Staff are so friendly and professional; nothing is too much trouble. My villa was superb and unfailingly spotless every day. The resort restaurant provided lovely tasty local and western dishes at reasonable prices. I will definitely return as soon as possible to this little gem where the waves lap against the sea wall only metres away from the pool and bar. Wonderful!!!

Well maintained property and great stay

We stayed in Nirwana for 3 days on our honeymoon trip to couple. The main entrance is about 350mtrs from the main road and is not permanent road so we had an initial doubt in our mind about our choice, however all that doubt was eliminated the moment we entered the property. The hotel staff were very warm, check-in took less than a min and they were ready with all necessary details regarding our room. The property is beautiful and treat to a nature lover and a romantic. The room was clean and had everything well arranged to our comfort. The restaurant was a little over priced but food was good. Overall I am satisfied with my stay and would recommend this place as long as you are not bothered about the initial 350mtrs to the hotel.
Note: At night going out on your own may be an issue because there is no lights on the road from Hotel entrance to the main road.

Beachside Oasis with Friendly Staff

Wow, what an experience! The scenery was absolutely beautiful, the villa was incredibly comfortable, and the staff was very attentive. The spa was amazing too-- I had a hot stone massage and pedicure, the spa rooms are spacious and relaxing. You can smell the beach and hear the waves, but the rest of the resort is incredibly quiet, only water noises. I wish I could have stayed longer; this will be the only place I stay when I come to Bali!

Pros:
Beautiful swimming pool, facing ocean. Friendly hotel staff who are always ready to serve. All hotel staff greets customers with a smile. Romantic and comfortable bed with mosquito netting as curtains. Large room and a balcony for relaxing and drying towels / clothes etc.
Cons:
During my last night stay, the air con started \"spitting\" our shaved ice. which gave my partner and I a shock. It happened several more times until I increased the temperature from 19 degrees celcius to 23? 2 large lizards lived on the roof which is very disgusting as the lizards would excrete their wet waste which lands on the floor. We noticed this on the last night which made everything in the roof feel very dirty.
Improvements: Perhaps the hotel could consider having a yoga class where customers can join in? This would add dimension to the activities other than just lazing at the pool.

Relaxing resort hotel

Lovely relaxing hotel with large grounds, good service, pool and day spa, staff are very attentive and helpful. No beach but this is typical of the coast here. Candidasa itself offers little but that's ok if you want a nice hotel to chill out and relax in, without leaving the hotel, this is it. Wifi was slow and a bit erratic but it did work ok.

One of the most beautiful resorts in Bali!

If you’re looking for a place to stay in the Karangasem area, look no further. On my recent trip to Bali I stayed in 4 different hotels throughout the island. Nirwana Resort and Spa was by far my absolute favorite. I only spent 2 nights here, but wished we had stayed longer. The resort is beautiful, lush and tropical. Beautiful rooms and bungalows. The infinity pool with a view of the South Pacific Ocean was breathtaking. The sounds of cascading waves filled my bungalow and lulled me to sleep at night. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction. I highly recommend this hotel!

The resort is pretty much what it states. The staff were great and attentive they always had a smile and hello.
The pool is small but perfect for a dip to cool down after a day of sight seeing. The food was tasty and not to badly priced. My only real complaint is it is a long walk to anywhere it's up a long narrow driveway so if you want quiet with no traffic noise you wouldn't find much better. The room was nice but does need a comfy chair that's about all that is missing and the room mates are shy small lizards but they don't bother you at all.

Quite acceptable four star resort spoilt by poor wifi, reception lady, and hopelessly overpriced spa. Resort is isolated and shutter service effectively non existent. Food was good. Staff in F@B and Housekeeping were very good but Spa staff and some reception staff either need moving on or retraining.

Nice pool with view, not so nice dining

The resort has likely seen better days. Our much needed mosquito net on the bed was too small so we were annoyed by mosquitoes coming in during the night.
Our pillows has a smoky & damp smell to them.
We were kept up the first night of our stay by a very loud tokay gecko, which the staff removed very efficiently the next day ( didn't kill it)
The bistro area was awkward with staff watching everything you do, immediately asking if you were from the resort ( duh! It's not a location you chance upon in your bikini with your kindle), requesting room number and meal voucher straight away.
Wouldn't recommend this place on the strength of anything except for price

Wonderful few days

The location and setting was perfect. the infinity pool was truly magnificent and the temperature was lovely and cool. Very private bungalows, and only a few steps away from the pool and restaurant. Hotel is extremely well run and the staff can't do enough for you. The food in the restaurant was all really good and very well priced. About a 25 minute walk into town. We loved our stay at Nirwana and will definitely return.

The stay of 3 nights did not start well when I was advised on check in that my room booked and paid for was not available however I could accept a lesser standard room. Excuses were made and blame deflected but in the end at 6pm after a full day travel, I accepted a room of lesser standard. The site is a little isolated and transport is required to go anywhere. This is both a positive and negative as it was very quiet. The restaurant was ok however food standard and range just got a pass.

Quiet sea front location with friendly staff

The hotel is set well off the main road. In one direction is the ocean, and in the other mountains. The feeling is peaceful and relaxed. We loved sitting outside the restaurant listening to the ocean. The staff were friendly, helpful and not at all intrusive. The room had a Balinese character and was clean. There was a shuttle bus to and from Candidasa central, about 3kms away. We would happily return as we really enjoyed Candidasa.

The first room which we booked was a superior room. This room was old and had a leaky shower over the bath. When used it flooded the floor. We complained and was moved to a deluxe room. This room was better but I believe still needed updating and in particular the bathroom. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant food was good.

This is small hotel on the sea front. The views are beautiful but there is no beach, where you can swim. Their swimming pool has very comfortable temperature and sometimes we were the only people there.
Location is remote but the restaurant is very reasonably priced so we didn't mind eating there every night.
We had spa treatment every day... what a bliss.

i stayed there for 3 days in May 2014. !st impressions on the hotel. i was ys fascinated with the location and sea views. simple amazing. Rooms were huge and beds were comfortable. Decently priced and 5 star hotel service. You will like a king when you stay there at a very affordable. 2 hrs away from Kuta therefore it's very quiet but 5mins drive and you will reach the nearest city Candidasa and you will get access to lots of local food and drinks. Only one comment to the the Hotel Mangement, please clean the room better as i felt you just need your staffs your staffs to scrub the toilet floors harder esp at the edges, you will create better experience.

Lovely resort to relax and re-energize

After 2 1/2 months of travel through Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam the Nirwana was a great place to just hang out by the pool. The garden setting is beautiful and the spa and restaurant are both first rate. The cottage we stayed in was spacious and we'll equipped. Staff were great.

Great place to stay for a romantic and relaxing getaway. We stayed in a deluxe garden villa and it was very relaxing. The town is a fair walk away and we felt a little isolated, however most restaurants will pick you up and drop you back free of charge. Perfect if you want a super relaxing holiday! Staff very friendly and helpful, on site restaurant lovely, spa was good too.

Beautiful, Quiet Comfort, Out of the way gem!

Wonderful service. the staff went out of their way to make this a wonderful stay. View is not to be missed. Lovely way to begin the day with a generous, delicious breakfast. Not a a walking site but it is very easy to get a cab or driver to take you to dinner in town or to see the sites. Beats hotels at other overdeveloped areas by miles.

I was in Candidasa for diving and picked this resort because of the excellent deal on Hotels.com. The rooms are huge and very tastefully decorated. I was in ocean view room and you should try and it was superb. The staff were excellent, and being a small resort I was always welcomed by my name. The pool was kept spotlessly clean. This place ticked all the box's for me and I will definitely be back again.

Pefect stay for relaxing and really winding down..

Four of us travelled to Nirwana to celebrate a friends birthday - so 4 rooms all garden view and all lovely. As 4 women travelling solo we felt very comfortable and safe at Nirwana and with the transport available via the hotel. The pool is small but perfect for relaxed dips and the view is sensational. the restaurant is good and food pleasing although a bit limited in choice but there are a number of other restaurants and cafes in Canidasa a short 10 minutes drive away. It is a semisecluded location that makes it perfect for thoae who want to really relax - sit by the pool or on your shady verandah and simply make the most of the tropical environment. We are already planning our next visist to Nirwana.....

Cozy and tucked away from the rest of Bali

This is a great place to come to to escape the hustle and bustle of other tourists on Bali and recharge. Enjoy reading a book by the pool if you please.

If you are trying to visit as many sights as possible then this is possibly not for you since it is rather far away from most of the tourist destinations. Walking out of the resort we came across a sleepy town with not much in the way of entertainment. However, we went for a challenging hike up the volcano Mt Agung which was a short taxi ride away.

The Nirwana Resort and Spa Candidasa

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here peaceful and idealic a little out of Candidasa and off main road but taxi only 20,000 or about a 15-20 minute walk into Candidasa.
Property kept neat and tidy staff very friendly and the restaurant food is nice with quite an extensive menu with daily specials and priced very reasonable, you are greeted with a complementry drink every night.

The Restaurant overlooks the ocean and weather premitting you can have breakfast on the restaurant patio watching the boats and ferries.

Very good resort with a beautiful infinity pool looking onto the Indian Ocean. There is a good restaurant and the service is impeccable.
Staying at this resort for 2 nights prior to our departure to Gili Meno, we were able to visit the local market in Amlapura, the Water Palace and the amazing villge of Tennagan before finishing the afternoon on The White Sandy Beach. Bars and restaurants in Candidasa are only 10 minutes away by taxi. Only criticism: no beach access from the hotel or in the area unless you go to the White Sandy Beach (quite good and not too far away)

Resort is really good, however Candidasa as a location in Bali may not be the best since there are no beach.

Hotel A/C are not working perfectly, during the last two days of our stay the A/C broke down, however we were change to different room.

Beautiful hotel with superb service. Cleanliness and hotel room was perfect. Restaurant with amazing view and nice food. Swimming in the pool overviewing the ocean such a paradise. Personal driver provided and good price for transfer to airport.

There was confusion regarding the breakfast (if I was supposed to pay for it or not, which I wasn't). The spa was very expensive and left me disappointed. I recommend you to save that money for something else.

It is a very quiet neighbourhood but lots of opportunities to visit sights around the area. Perfect if you need a calm and soothing holiday.

They lost our reservation

They lost our reservation for our honeymoon. Had to shuttle us to a nearby hotel and then come back to get us. This resort is kind of run down, but still pretty nice. Restaurant was below average, we ate most meals at the resort next door.

It is utterly ridiculous that the Nirwana Resort and Spa be advertised as a 4,5 star hotel. We stayed 3 nights there. On the first night we were in the bathroom having a bath after a long day of travel when my partner noticed a shadow moving by the window. The venetian blinds were closed but there was still space between the slats and the window wasn't frosted as one might have expected in a bathroom. At first we thought it was nothing but then he saw the shadow move again and ran out to confront whoever it was spying on us in the bath! Turns out it was a member of the hotel's staff who after initially denying it, admitting to spying on us and apologised. We decided after his apology not to tell the manager as we did not want him to get fired. However, this was not the end of the hotel staff's indiscretions. A member of the restaurant staff subsequently decided it was his business to ask what had happened when his friend had spied on us in the bath and later told me when my partner was not around that he had looked my name up on the hotel computer (he was restaurant staff and had no business checking my details for any personal reasons) and wanted to be \"friends\" with me on facebook!! The restaurant serves very low quality food with rice that has started to go black at the ends and wilted salad. My Partner spent the first night with severe diarrhea. The hotel looks the part but the staff had no boundaries and I certainly did not feel comfortable nor completely safe there.

Relaxing Break

The staff at Nirwana are very friendly and professional. Pick this resort if you want relaxation and isolation; as the resort is situated at the end of a 500m driveway on the outskirts of the nearby fishing village Candi Dasa - but dont worry just hire a scooter at a very cheap price if you want to zip in and out (dont advise walking as there isnt much footpath until you get to town). The resort is directly on the water however there isnt a beach due to a long ocean beach wall - instead a very nice swimming pool awaits. Plently to see in the local area if you want day trips. We had a fantastic break and enjoyed many days just hanging out by the pool - having massages / treatments in the Nirwana spa.

Amazing location

The Nirwana is situated on the side of a very steep valley surrounded by jungle foliage, monkeys and other wildlife , wonderful views of the many varieties of trees etc. Lovely unique pool where you can look over the edge down into the valley to the river below. Very good food and there is a spa too. Staff very helpful. Very peaceful location yet only 15 minutes away from Ubud , the culture capitol of Bali, great.

Absolutely Beautiful...

We stayed in Nirwana for our wedding anniversary and that’s exactly what we would recommend it for- a romantic getaway for couples without children. The hotel is a bit out of the way ,but this was exactly what we were after, peace and relaxation and taxi to town is 20k ($2.30) and most restaurants will pick you up and drop you off anyway. Beautiful tropical grounds, staff were excellent : Restaurant staff very friendly, polite and efficient, housekeepers did a very good job at keeping our room clean and tidy, lovely Spa, food in restaurant very, very good ( and trust me, we both are a fussy eaters :) ). There are also some good restaurants in the nearby town of Candidasa –Rendezvous, Le Royale, Joglos, Queens – a funky Bar with live music.

All in all we would highly recommend this place. Also, while you’re there don’t miss out on some of the most beautiful snorkelling just on your doorstep and climbing Mt Agung is a must :) ( however- do it only if you are extremely fit as it is basically a vertical free climb all the way ) and you will be in excruciating pain for the next 4 days so doing it day or 2 before you leave is probably a good idea.

Before we arrived, we read 1 or 2 not too good reviews about the place and it did get us a bit worried ,but the longer we stayed the more we could not believe, that anybody would say one bad word about this place( and again… we are very fussy and would not waste a holiday on a bad resort, so whatever has been wrong with the place has been either fixed or exaggerated the first place ), it was one of the best holidays we ever had and would gladly come back … :)

Prix excessifs sur le restaurant pour une qualité / quantité vraiment moyenne. Pas de plage et vue sur des tankers. Offre demi pension à éviter (carte ultra limité et petites portions)

Nous sommes littéralement arrivés au Nirwana. Notre chambre donnait sur la piscine et nous avions une magnifique vue sur la mer. Les soirées barbecue ont été beaucoup appréciées de toute la famille.

施設は手入れが行き届いており、広々とした室内と部屋のプールでのんびり過ごせました。レストランは品数は少ないですが、どのお料理も美味しく、満足です。スタッフの皆さんもフレンドリーで、快適な時間を過ごせました。唯一残念だったのはお天気ですが、こればっかりは仕方ないですね。またリベンジしたいと思います。

Lite slitet på vissa håll men överlag ett fint och mysigt ställe. Ingen strand eller möjlighet att ta sig åt något håll efter vattnet. Man får ta taxi runt eller gå en längre bit. Dålig väg in till hotellet som lätt blev översvämning på.
Maten hade låg standard tyvärr mot övrigt på Bali och hotell vi bodde på. Åt mest i grannbyn som hadde ett bra utbud. Rekommenderar Oketo Cafe. Mycket bra frukost! Men även lunch/middag var toppen.
Nirwana hotell får ett medelbetyg.

Le cadre est agréable et paisible, belle vue sur la mer. Activités gratuites proposées par l’établissement, bon petit déjeuner et bon goûté. Chambre spacieuse avec une jolie vue sur le jardin bien entretenu. Cependant, hôtel qui se détériore un petit peu, piscine qui ne semble pas être traité, bungalow vieillissant. Serveur agréable, mais parfois intrusif (vous interrompt dans vos conversation, ou vous saute dessus dès que vous vous levez). Restez vigilant à votre mode de paiement par cash, les notes sont toutes signées, et ils oublient ce que vous avez payé ou non remettant en cause votre parole.
Enfin, hôtel qui est assez isolé, pas beaucoup de restaurant dans les alentours, celui de l’hôtel est trop honéreux pour une qualité moindre. Quelques lieux d’intérêt qui restent à proximité accessibles en voiture (Virgin Beach, Padang Bai, temple de Lempuyang…)

Bon séjour mais beaucoup de bruit

Nous avons passé un bon séjour dans l’ensemble au Nirwana Beach & Resort. La nourriture était bonne, et le personnel sympathique. Cependant, nous n’avons pas trouvé la propreté de la chambre et de la piscine irréprochable. De plus, les chambres sont très mal isolées, et donc nous avions énormément de bruit avec l’océan juste à côté… dommage…
