So welcoming when we arrived at Puri Bagus and this continued throughout our stay. We enjoyed our room/bungalow so spacious and I enjoy an outdoor bathroom I find this space quite tranquil. There is a pathway presently being constructed and future walks along the ocean pathway will be a highlight.

A Happy Return

Fourth trip to Bali, second stay at Puri Bagus. Returned for many reasons. Candidasa is away from the crazy crowds. Beautiful setting. Staff is wonderful. Easy access to activities.

My other stays have been at yoga lodges. While they were nice, they were isolated. To visit another restaurant required hiring a driver. At Puri Bagus it’s an easy walk to Candidasa where there are restaurants, shops, ATMs and other services.

Grounds are well kept. Patios are a nice place to relax after a day of activities. Rooms are clean, not overly fancy but spacious. Baths could use a little update, but they’re still the cleanest bathrooms I encountered on the island (you will appreciate a clean bathroom as you travel around).

Would go back in a heartbeat.

Puri Bagus is a beautiful small resort with wonderful staff and views! The small beach area is not clean, like most beaches in Bali. The property directly in front of the resort is kept clean and maintained. The pool is perfectly positioned to provide great views. The pool and the area around the pool are kept clean and lovely. The flowers and plants on the property are beautiful. The spa is wonderful! 2 massages in a week at the spa....perfection! The town of Candidasa is small, walkable, friendly and provides restaurant and shopping choices.

Very good!
I would recommend and go back.
In my next visit I would love to see more effort (and/or communication) made around sustainable practises (water recuperation, solar panel, less plastic in the bathroom, ...) and where does the food come from (does this hotel support local farming?) and if it is organic.

We went for new years eve and stayed 6 nights. They had a new years eve party which was nice. The food was good and they had a decent band. The ground are beautiful and the owner interacts with the guests. The food at the restaurant is great and the drinks are ok. I had plenty of cocktails and didnt get sick from them so they must use bottled water for ice. My only real complaint is the room has an outside shower and partly covered bathroom which shares the walls of 3 other bathrooms. I didnt love this feature as you get to hear your neighbors use the toliet when brushing your teeth. I got quite sick one night from eating off the resort and felt bad for my neighbors having to hear me. Because its outside it appears dirty due to weathering. This is the best hotel in the area and you will have a good time if you go there but its not a 5 star hotel. 5 star view and 5 star grounds

It was my first time in Bali and in Asia in general. I must first say that my experience in Bali was centred around this breath taking hotel. I am a fond traveller and have stayed in many hotels including the Hilton and many 5 star resorts but Puri Bagus Candidasa has to be the best resort I have ever stayed in. Candidasa Is a gem and has to be one of the best areas to stay in Bali, far better than the touristy locations such as Kuta or Ubud. Upon arriving we were welcomed by the warmest smile and the coolest drink (which was necessary due to the warm heat in Bali) we were dealt with very swiftly as the hotel could tell we had travelled a lot and took us directly to our room. The cleanliness of the room and the whole resort in general was surreal. The room was well equipped with everything and very spacious, no problem at all with all bugs or WiFi as the hotel was very on top with all of this. The breakfast provided by the hotel was at all levels exceeding my expectations, they had a very wide variety to cater to all sorts of people. From European food right down to traditional Indonesian food. The staff were very accommodating at breakfast and spoke perfect English. The hotel had many activities available such as yoga, snorkelling, boat trips, massages and many others at an amazing rate, the hotel pool was located right next to the beach and looked beautiful. Situated at the end of the ‘beach’ strip it is a quieter alternative with lovely lavish bungalows, beautifully maintained gardens and a goid sized pool. Great pool side cafe serving ok Balinese dishes. Fabulous staff.

The rooms were very nice and AC worked well.
Food at the restaurant was good.
Staff was freidndly, but hard to communicate with. The activities were not organized well, and you were better off having the people from the beach take you as the hotel ended up hiring them anyways for double the cost.

Very quiet, and not much to do in town. Very relaxing though.

Recommend getting a moped to get around as it is far from anything.

Exceeded all our expectations

Our 5-night stay exceeded all of our expectations. The pictures do not really do this hotel justice. The view is stunning and the grounds are kept beautiful with both the option of swimming in the pool as well as the sea(sea I see very clean here). The food, both restaurant and breakfast buffet is very varied and well tasting. The staff is very nice and friendly.
This hotel is definitely worth visiting and has easy access to local restaurants and good dive/snorkel spots(dive shop on ground).
Go here if you want to escape the masses in the south. Will highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, wonderful food

This is a beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds. Surrounded by banana and coconut trees. Everything was beautifully done from the fresh breakfast to the hotel bar. We had a lovely room overlooking the beach, with an outdoor bathroom where you could see palm trees as you showered! It’s a short walk into the very authentic town and some nice restaurants - try Vincent’s! Otherwise food at the hotel is really good.

The hotel was a bit tired and in need of an update (eg.no flat screen TV in room), bed was uncomfortable and air conditioning not very effective. Staff were a bit pushy and kept wanting to sell us activities etc.Breakfast was very basic. On the plus side the grounds were beautiful and the pool nice.

We stayed for 7 nights. It was a fantastic experience- all the staff were professional and lovely. The hotel grounds were beautiful and it is in a quiet location right on the water. Due to staying a week we were given a discount on all spa , food and beverage which was great. The spa itself is amazing! Great massages in a beautiful and tranquil setting. The food and drinks were not expensive and the stafff went out of their way to help make us comfortable. I will definitely return next time I am in Candidasa.

We love Puri Bagus. The service levels are fantastic...across the board, from the reception desk, wait staff, to pool man, to cleaners and gardeners; unfailing good spirits and assistance. The grounds are a delight and a credit to the staff who tend them. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was fine, although other food was not outstanding. The pool was well maintained, and there was enough space and sun-beds to be comfortable - although at full capacity there might be a bit of strain. The property is in a good location especially given shuttle and pick-up service from the likes of Vincents. Would love to come back.

Piece of heaven

Wonderful family run hotel. Spa is fantastic with wonderful treatments. Wifi is very spotty but the surroundings are perfect with beautiful gardens and a nice restaurant on the beach. Would recommend this place for people wanting peace and beautiful setting.

Puri Bagus means \"Great Gate\" and it certainly is.

For the traveller looking to see more of Bali / Indonesia, this is an incredibly well appointed hotel with very courteous staff and stunningly presented facilities. A short drive away is Padangbai, a departure point for ferries to the eastern islands.

Great hotel will definitely come again

The hotel is situated at the end of a small road about 500mt from the main road. Very quiet if that is what you are looking for. The staff were polite and friendly and the food excellent. The breakfasts were delicious and excellent value being complimentary with your stay. The pool is small but well maintained and the setting is typical Bali, Palm trees and Boganvilias of all colours. The gardens were amazing they take such pride in their presentation. Our room was very spacious with a huge bed. The air conditioner was very quiet which is always a plus and there is a small verandah where your can relax and read. We had a room at the back 508 which initially I thought not the best but we had no one passing our room and it was very private. I suppose the only fault I found with the room was the open air bathroom which was very clean and spacious but connected with the room next door just separated by a rock wall so if someone was using the bathroom you could hear very clearly what was going on, a bit awkward at times. Also there are no safes in the rooms, so valuables needed to be checked at reception in their secure room, a bit inconvenient. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the bali experience, Puri Bagus Candidasa villas are the place to go. We will definitely come again.

Relaxing comfortable and really clean

We were happy with almost everything about the hotel. The hotel is kept neat and clean and has lovely gardens. We really enjoyed our stay. Don't be put off by the partially open bathrooms. The roof extends over everything except the shower (nice showering under the stars) and there were no mosquitos in the bathroom area even though I thought this would be a problem, it was no problem at all. If it rains and you don't want to shower, the bath tub with hand shower is under the roof.
The hotel is nicely integrated into the local community and so you are exposed to normal day to day Balinese life (fishing boats pull up right next to the hotel, temple in Candidasa main rd etc).
Strikes a good balance between being a resort environment without being isolated from the local scene.
Only three small complaints:
1. Like many hotels, they claim to protect the environment by not changing towels everyday, but even when you hang up your towels, they give you fresh ones anyway.
2. The reception is unable to arrange an alternative taxi for you to go to town (15 min walk) if the hotel car is busy.
3. The food is nice but not amazing. There are lovely restaurants around town so that's not a problem at all. Seemed that all restaurants were willing to collect you and drop you back at Puri Bagus by car for free if you did not feel like walking.

I was here for a month

I lived at the Puri Bagus for a month while I attended yoga school. It became like home for me. The resort is beautiful and is made up of little villas. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was good in the restaurant. The staff was unbelievable. They were kind and hardworking people. One of my classmates broke her iPhone charger, and asked the front desk if they knew where she could get another. The employee offered to pick one up for her after her shift, and insisted she borrow hers until she got her new one. I was so sad to leave. The resort had become my home, and the staff, my friends.

Excellent value in off season - rooms well kept, good amenities, lovely pool. Enjoyed breakfast very much. Get the croissants and Indonesian breakfast. I agree with other reviewers that the price of spa treatments is high relative to the rest of Bali- they would probably book more if they were a little cheaper. Did not try the restaurant for any other meals, so cannot comment on it. There is enough of a beach at low tide for a quick dip in the ocean. The view from the resort is great.

Puri Bagus a must for a real view of Bali

A great quiet boutique hotel with each room consisting of a small semi detached bungalow and partially outside bathroom. Rooms are extremely clean if a little tired but refurbishment is taking place at present but not noisy or disrupting at all. Pool is lovely, clean and a nice size. Gardens are well maintained and very pretty. Service throughout is excellent and very friendly. We had a problem with the air conditioning which was sorted out promptly. The surrounding area is great to explore and mainly unspoilt by tourism. The only negative is there is no beach and it is about a 10 minute walk into town on a dark but not dangerous road.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. As a hotel the set up is very good with day beds that look out over the ocean....complete relaxation. The bungalow style accomodation is surrounded by lovely gardens and pathways in a traditional Bali style.
We recommend it to all.

Sehr schöne gepflegte Anlage, dass Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Restaurant hat für meine Begriffe eine relativ geringe Auswahl an indonesischen Gerichten, ist aber ganz gut. Frühstück alles was man will, über indonesische, Eierspeisen, Donuts Müsli, alles da. Immer frisch aufgeschnitte Früchte. Toller Pool. Es gibt keinen Strand vor dem Hotel, ins Wasser kommt man über einen Steg. Wer also am Strand liegen möchte hat hier keine Möglichkeit. Dafür gibt es ausreichende Liegemöglichkeiten rund um den Pool, vor allem die Gazebas mit Blick aufs Meer. Wir waren 14 Tage hier und es war sehr schön
