Everything was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful. Room rate very reasonable and it included breakfast and complimentary access to the executive lounge. Overall much better value for money than Hong Kong! Definitely recommend Shenzen for a visit!

Very bad experience m, staffs were impolite. We arrived with many luggage but the staffs pretend not seeing us. No greeting nor help, doesn’t feel like this luxury 5 stars hotel is welcoming us at all. The room is also dirty, towels were broken. Not recommend for anyone who is looking for a welcomed stay.

The services is not good enough , I used a lot of time to wait check in. Actually my check in time should be 2pm, I arrived on 3:30pm but I was waiting the room checking 1 hour, then I arrived in my room is 4:30pm

wonderful short stay!

wonderful hotel staff at JW Marriott and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. i left a note at time of booking saying that it is our honeymoon. although we only stayed for a night, hotel staff made it special for us by decorating the room and sending a cake to us.

room was good size and clean, a little dim though. i believe it is conveniently located, getting deliveries was very easy as well.

special thanks to Sue Su who was extremely kind and gave me a heatpack when we checked in.

Not up to par with the 5 star and price. Overall it’s an okay hotel to stay at, but on the older side, coffee machine was not provided in room. Service was mediocre. 2 people stayed in the room, but only 1 pair of slippers were provided,etc. Room is dated and some furniture have obvious scratch and chip on it. Location is good. Breakfast is on the simple side, nothing special. Would expect more with the price paid and as a JW standard, need some upgrade for sure.

Lovely Decor, Comfortable Bed

The lobby is very beautiful, as you can see from the pictures. The hotel room was quite nice, too, including a comfortable bed and stylish decor. The lighting in the hotel room could be improved a little bit. The hotel is a close cab ride (or approx. 40 minute walk) to Coco Park, but the area around the hotel is perhaps less exciting. The staff at the hotel were very kind.

I stayed at this JW in 2010 and then again around 2012. I had such a nice experience at that time. I look back on it with purely positive feelings. Now as we reach the end of 2019, it's not hard to see that time has taken a toll on this property. The carpets have hardened, the wood is starting to splinter, and the once fragrant 5 star hotel smell has faded away. I will say that the executive lounge at this property remains to be the crown jewel of the property. The breakfast is really tasty. I don't think I'll be back to this JW. This stay was a decent final farewell though. Goodbye old friend.

Great hotel but it would be better if concierge spoke better english.
They sold us bus tickets to go to Hong Kong and the service was very poor -the first driver - taking us to border -didn’t help us with all the luggages we had- parked pretty far. We had to walk the entire parking lot into customs. We were never told of this. We would have made other arrangements. The ticket included the bus out of customs to Kowloon/Hong Kong. This bus driver made a stop and everyone got off the bus including us; it was the wrong stop- he didnt say this was not the Hong Kong stop. He also didn’t even bother to help anyone or confirm that passengers were taking their own luggage. Two of our luggages were out on the sidewalk because some other passenger removed them to get his; bus driver remained seated on the bus the entire time. When i tried to get my last luggage from the storage( had been pushed deep inside by other passengers) the bus started closing the storage door without even noticing I was there. It could have hit me! And after he left and we got a taxicab we found out we were 30 min away from Hong Kong. Very bad experience. They sold us a terrible service- to travel with luggage.

Room was very good. Did see everything that is in room was chargeable. Even the smallest of chocolates was on the minibar menu. Breakfast excellent though was disappointed that the lady who asked me if I wanted coffee couldnt understand the basics of a white coffee, or a black coffee with milk. Then sat for 20 minutes eating breakfast and no coffee arrived. Other than that, perfect.

Drawback - In room temperature control

The main drawback in the hotel ( which generally applies to all of the Marriott that I've stayed in China ) was the climate control in the room during winter time. Supposedly because of the 'cold' weather, the room temperature was set at like 24 degrees and non adjustable. It was very stuffy inside the room especially when outside temperature was not really that cold, in the range of 20 degrees lately. Had made the same comment in my last Marriott stay during winter time but seems like they are not doing anything. Luckily this time they have not turned on the heater. The hotel controls the temperature of all the rooms.
The female staff at check in was not very helpful nor cheerful.
Discovered a really nice eatery at the hotel -- the Tofu boutique store - with great food and pleasant service.

Gorgeous JW Marriott.

It is an amazing hotel with gracious staff in the hotel and longe. We would definitely return. The only negative was breakfast in the restaurant. When we got there we were told we only had ten minutes. (Which we understood). The selection was wonderful but staff very unfriendly to us. They never checked with us and it was difficult to get a cup of coffee. The only time we got a half smile was when we left.

Horrible,terrible, worst experience. First of all they delayed in giving us the room, arguing that they were fully booked that day. We stayed here as we liked the pool pictures, however they've closed the pool the days we stayed, without letting us know in advance. Last but not least, the room was crossed by a structural beam due to which the television pointed directly to the wall, instead of to our bed, thus it was impossible to watch TV .. important. To make everything even worse, the room they gave us didn't have shampoo, nor complimentary waters. I would never come back.

The Hotel is not up to the standard of a JW

It is a good hotel. But not a JW Marriott. The room is small as well as elevators. The room I stayed had a huge beam in the middle of the room near the window. I think the property is built as a residential place. Staffs are needed a lot of training or the place is needed a lot of improvement. The carpet is dirty from the hallway. I did eat at 3 restaurants. The best one is their breakfast buffet. (Good service and plenty of the food)
The Japanese restaurant is the worst. Very expensive but so so quality. The staffs doesn't no anything.

This hotel was excellent. I was here for a weekend and had excellent service the whole weekend. Staff spoke great English, the food was great, and their spa services were very nice. It is far enough from the airport, but in a very nice part of town.

Right from the check in it was great. Had a very nice young lady named Berelyn take care of me, She spoke perfect english and spanish with was an amazing plus for me. Very detailed and friendly. I wish all hotels had a Berlin in their hotel. Will definitely be back soon.

This is a top flight hotel with excellent service. My only big complaint is with the pricing at the hotel restaurants and bars. The prices are nearly on a par with Manhattan prices. I get that management realizes they can get those prices because of the business clientele they cater to, but they are a little tough to swallow when you consider the same food and libation would cost about one-fourth as much in a typical Chinese restaurant around the block. One other difficulty was that the massive curtains in my room were almost impossible to open and it felt like you had to almost tear them down to move them.

Staff was awesome. Rooms and hotel were nice, not great.
Prices at bar and restaurants is way too high for a hotel of this caliber and in China.
I paid less for food and drinks in Hong Kong hotels that are lights years ahead on JW Shenzhen.
No problem paying high prices in a high end hotel, just the name JW does not warrant these prices.

Marriott standard but although there are McD and KFC close by (much higher quality than those in U.S.) not many decent restaurants in walking distance.

I'm fascinated by local foods, but for those who are not, your choice is either one of 3 at the hotel or get into a taxi.

There's a nice restaurant in the building behind it, but it's on the 3rd floor and difficult to find.

The hotel contact number provided by expedia was wrong so it was hard to explain to the taxi driver regarding the location. Also, this hotel has a Chinese name and most taxi driver does not recognise the hotel as Marriott. They only understand when you tell them the Chinese name of the hotel. Has good breakfast selection (way better than any other Chinese hotels), Seafood dinner was superb.

Good for business trip but not for shopping

Hotel is located in between two metro station and distance wise both of them are same (around 10 mins walk). At first i booked the room for 3 nights but later stayed one more night. The staffs were friendly and they upgraded my room to the executive floor for free and i had great view of the golf course from the 27th floor. Breakfast had good selection and dinner was more than i expected (good selection of seafood).

Excellent hotel, friendly staff especially Duty manager Philip who goes out of his way to make sure you leave 100% happy. Free Wifi in rooms, good breakfast. Hotel is 10 mins from SEG plaza, the main electronic market. I was looking for Halal food, Dewan-e-khas, which again was approx 15min drive from the hotel and would cost around RMS.25 (£3). Overall excellent hotel!! Highly recommended.

This is the third time I have had the pleasure of staying at the JW Marriott. As always the staff are helpful and cheerful. I usually arrive from Hong Kong early in the morning and check in to the executive room, a free breakfast is a welcome following a long flight and is served in the club lounge.

The rooms are always lean and the bathroom is spacious. Internet could be a little better but not as bad as others I have used and free. The club lounge serves free drinks in the evening with food and it would be fair to say that the food is of excellent quality and more than enough to substitute for you main evening meal.

We had booked the executive floor, so we had access to the lounge with free cocktail and buffet breakfast. Selections were limited (compared to, say, Conrad) but the atmosphere was very pleasant and the ladies were very helpful. The room was big, clean with mechanical drape opening and closing. The complimentary fruit was limited to only apples. The 4-minute walk to the closest subway station (Che Kung Temple, west of the hotel) was not recommended after sundown as the street lights couldn’t get through the lush plants. My wife was kind of scare because it was so dark. So we took the next subway station (east of the hotel). It was an easier but longer walk (8 mins) the next day.

Great frustration

Unfortunately I had to spent at least 1.1/2 hour at the front desk because orbitz.com screwed up. I reserved and paid this hotel 2 weeks ago. When I arrived the hotel they said I only did reservation no payment. I show them my credit card sattement showing that orbitz.com got the payment. They didn't accept it because they didn't get the payment in their system and they wouldnt let me stay without payment. They finally let me in and same saga goes on in the morning half hour more. I refused to pay and left. Then in the middle of my business meeting hotels A/R department calling me.
Anyway it was a big frustration and they are still calling me for payment despite Orbitz.com got the payment long time ago.
