The hotel facilities are outdated and poorly maintained. The carpet was extremely dirty and visibly damaged. There was also a noticeable buildup of dust on the airconditioning vents. The TV remote control barely worked.

I booked this hotel because of its 8.8 rating on Expedia, but after checking in, I honestly can’t imagine how a hotel like this could receive such a high score. It has made me seriously question the credibility of Expedia’s ratings. There are many much better hotels nearby, and aside from being close to the subway, this hotel offers nothing of value.

The room had a very strong smell of smoke, and I expressed my concerns to the front desk staff. They arranged for a cleaning lady to come to our room and spray air freshener, but that was all they did. Another terrible experience occurred during breakfast at their cafe buffet when I saw a huge cockroach crawling near the coffee machine. Overall, it was a very disappointing stay.

This is at best a 3 star property. “Executive” lounge and offerings were a joke. It exists, but does not live up the star rating.
First room smelled of smoke even though whole floor was non-smoking.
Requested a rollaway bed - less comfortable than the sofa, it bowed down like a hammock.
Concierge could point to area restaurants, but not much else.
Only benefit is proximity to MRT station and several shopping malls including IN TOWN which had great food options.
Will skip this property and other Wyndhams going forward. Terrible experience for family trip

Enforcement of rule/regulation.
I requested and got a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor. But my first afternoon nap was interrupted by a strong cigaret smoke that poured in from the connected room next door. When I questioned the smoke detector system, the staff lightly mentioned that it was not functional. This is a safety issue! And when I pointed out the notice of government regulation on non-smoking and fine of 500 yen, the manager responded that they had no authority to stop the offender! Is it not the right of property owner to enforce regulation within their property?
The safety deposit box has a hole for a power line connecting the inside of the box to the outside socket. What happens if there is a power outage? Can't open the box or the box will open by itself? Weird - I have never seen anything like this in 60 years of travelling.
The room is rather dimmed.
The house keeping staff is wonderful - friendly and helpful!

When I booked, I had specify there were 4 adult. When I arrived I found out the suite was not really design for 4 adult stay so we had to add two beds. The added beds' condition was not at the best condition. The springs on both bed were all worn. I am surprise Expedia and Wyndham had allow me to book a room design for two when we have a party of four.

Excellent overall, however we had an issue with cold water, there was no cold water from 6am to 12pm, it was unacceptable and sanitary was a big issue.

It is a nice hotel with friendly staff

Very good breakfast buffet. The cooks must be very good. I found many dishes were all very well prepared. The rooms are comfortable. Low points are: hotel’s Wifi was exceedingly poor. The regular telephone in the room is also very poor quality: very noisy with static noise that I can’t call housekeeping. By the way, subway construction is on going while we stayed, but no noise pollution. Only in and out of the hotel could be messy. Rooms are nice and comfortable.

The rooms are great and definitely 5 star quality. The location was great since it is right next to the Yiwu market. However, the breakfast buffet was sub-par. When you get tired of the local Chinese food, go to the mall next door (the one where McDonalds is) and eat at the Mado Ice Cream restaurant. They have pizza and other Mediterranean food. We ended up eating dinner there every night.

The hotel room was not cleaned.

There was some scent of cigarette right after I entered the room and acknowledged that I have requested for a non-smoking room. When pulling out the mini bar folder I found out there is some sticky, oil-like material underneath, showing their lack of attention when cleaning the room.

Also, the room was paid on Expedia when booking, but somehow the reception charged my card even after I clearly stated the payment was made beforehand.

Nice hotel. Next to the exhibition center. Close to Starbucks. Location was fantastic for me. Very clean. The friendliest staff ever. Mr. Hassan was really helpful with all means and he solved many problems for me with non hotel related issues (thank you so much).
I forgot my passport with money on the table and nobody touched them. Electrical blackout curtains.
I haven't eaten in the hotel so I cannot rate it.
The only disadvantage which really don't have anything to do with the hotel is, currently they are building a new subway in front of the hotel (the closet subways is 3 minutes walk) so I might be noisy. Other than that, I'll be back to this hotel whenever I go back to Shenzhen.

The room was the best room I have ever had. Great view of the city, nice layout, functional, attractive, clean, classy. The location is across from Gangxia station for easy train usage. The location offers lots of services and restaurants within a block or two of the hotel. Central Park is nearby for a walk. Everything was as it should be. Staff is a little light on English, but functional enough.

Amazing stay at Wyndham Grand Shenzhen!

I stayed at Wyndham Grand for 3 days and 2 nights as a solo traveler to attend an expo at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. The quality of service (front desk, concierge and housekeeping) was 5 star. My corner room was luxurious, large, impeccably clean, and with a stunning view of the city. There were staff who spoke english.

The only downside is the Convention Center's entrance is a 15-20 min walk away -- there are other hotels that are much closer to the venue. But you could also just take a taxi going there. I always just stopped at Intown Mall for coffee or a snack. The distance isn't a big deal, and the path was generally safe. Anyway despite the long walk to and from the Convention Center, I loved everything about this hotel and would stay here again on my next visit!

This hotel is so far the best I have ever stayed in China. The service was top class, not only the front desk but room service as well. I remember I asked front desk in the middle of the night for something, they were pleased to provide. The room service did the extra work for cleaning that they shouldn’t be doing. Thanks Vera. And I also met one of my own kind there , Hassan. He was smiling all the way and talking to us about how our stay will be more enjoyable and if need anything can reach him ..etc . The room was very beautiful, my wife was very happy for my choice! If you are going to Shenzhen to stay, this is a must ! I probably will stay again if I need to !

It was an impeccable stay overall, starting out right from the check-in process. Kate Yi provided excellent service with a smile, and a free upgrade as well as the late check-out complimentary of Expedia, even though there was an influx of guests the next day. Parking was a little challenging but manageable, which is common among hotels in Shenzhen. The room was clean and big, especially love the giant bath tub and the wide selection of international and local TV channels in HD. The views in Futuna was spectacular too, with floor-to-ceiling windows. Overall a great stay, would totally do it again.

No complaints about Wyndham Grand Shenzhen

I was very happy with my stay at Wyndham Grand Shenzhen this time. No complaints to food variety and quality served for breakfast, likely every need or preference can be met. My room at 33rd floor was very well soundproof, very clean and well-organized. The view from the room on the city center at night was great! The staff was trully helpful as well. It was quite hot in the city, and I had a late evening flight. By checking out in the morning I have asked if it is possible to take a shower before going to airport. The person at reception immediately confirmed that I can return to hotel any time during the day, visit a pool at 31st floor, swim there and enjoy my time. This was very helpuf and kind indeed.

Staying for a night, the room is perfect! HUGE! modern design.
Like the room so much! never stay in such a modern design room. Not too sure if all Wyndham has the same/similar design, probably not (stayed in US Wyndham, and it is different).
Location is great too, metro is just less than 5 mins walk. (never time).
But if you were to take a cab or car, it is not that convenient as the car is unable to drive in due to the security barrier of the commercial area. But I guess this is not require to consider.
Just a few comments to improve, elevators seem to be taking time, went for breakfast, lots of dishes ran out but no one refill despite all senior staff is using their phone, no receipts given for all my bills (thinking about recycle? no, they did not ask for my email too).
But overall, great! the hotel room is what I will go back for :)

At first using google map to locate the hotel but a bit distorted. And no information on which exit to go up from the station. (there r too many exits in same station). But it’s good as it’s close to shopping area. The room is so big and with a bathtub. Basically things are well equipped. Just the towels are with a bit stain. Bed and Pillow good. Movies are complementary to your stay. no worries on entertainment.

The service was friendly and top notch as check-in went smoothly and when there was something wrong with my card when putting it in the electricity control slot of the room, a staff member came up and replaced it right away. However, one small issue is that the front desk and the other staff members' English proficiency is still relatively lacking considering this hotel is quite high-end with potentially a lot of foreign customers.

They could not find my reservation so I waited for about a half hour until I was able to get into a room. I also requested breakfast and the next morning I arrive and they did not have my information. Overall, the organization was disappointing but the service was nice. They continued to apologize and took care of my needs - it was just a bit late. The room was beautiful but the construction outside made it impossible to walk anywhere.

The Wyndham Grand Hotel in Shenzhen is an excellent place to stay. Location is central, staff is very attentive to all needs of the guests. The hotel is also situated very close to the metro. Mr. William Deng is always there to find solutions for guests, and I recommend you seek his assistance should you stay at the Wyndham Grand. I will be staying there again soon - it feels like a second home :)

Very nice hotel, not a very large building block but secure and convenient.
Large room, modern and comfortable.
Good breakfast, variety of choices.
Close to metro, and easy access to major attractions in center Shenzhen.
I enjoyed very much the under ground LINK CITY, and nearby shopping malls and many restaurants.
Staff are attentive, willing to help, well trained.
Got into a little problem with double booking, one at the counter and one over Expedia, was solved eventually.
Visited but didn't try the gym, looks well equipped, an 25 meter swimming pool.
Impressive free Wi-Fi service, auto connect and doesn't drop off.

Went downhill once the builders left.

Booked an Executive Suite. The room was great: modern, clean and well appointed. The view was also excellent. The food was average and it was difficult to communicate with staff in English. I wouldn't mention this as it is China after all, except for the fact that this is not an issue at all in the nearby Sheraton. And it's really staff training that lets this hotel down. The staff are perfectly efficient but the hotel is a little like an HP Lovecraft novel: everybody looks miserable and it's rare to get a smile from a staff member. Again, this is a stark contrast with the Sheraton where the staff smile and greet you in the corridors. On checking in I wasn't informed about the facilities or about club lounge access and had to phone reception to find out about it. On going for breakfast on the first morning I was told the room did not include breakfast, which it clearly did. I have read other reviews that raise the same problem so this is clearly a recurring issue. The peace and tranquillity of the room was possibly the best I have experienced but staff are clearly mismanaged and poorly trained and for this reason only I would not return.

Lack of English skills

Having booked for 4 people and having contacted Hotels.com, we expected the room to be ready for 4 even though there was only 1 bed. We were told by Hotels.com that the room included a sofa bed.

However, in the room there were things only for 2 people. Towels, toothbrushes, etc. No extra pillow of blanket were supplied for the sofa (that wasn't a sofa bed).

On the last day, we tried to go swim the 4 of us at the same time. At the desk, we were told (with google translate) that only 2 people by room could swim at a time. After 15minutes of trying to be understood and trying to find English speaking staff, we were allowed in.

Concierge could not guide us or recommend anything. We did not expect much from Shenzhen but still asked the concierge about fireworks for CNY or a circus or acrobatics show. However, he did not know those words and we had to use google translate again.

When ordering room service, the clerk could not understand numbers (or much of anything in English) and we had to return some items and reorder to get everything we wanted.

The facilities are great, but you would expect better English speaking abilities from a 5 star hotel from an American chain.

Hotel was superb, room was clean and modern with high ceilings and electric curtains. Bathtub even has a mini tv! Location was great. Hotel is located right next to Gangxia station (exit C) so travelling was very convenient. The station also has an underground walkway called \"Link City\" that connects 3 stations together (Gangxia station, Convention & exhibiton centre station and Shopping Park station) making it super convenient to shop around these 3 locations. Link city also has tons of restaurants lined along the walkway so dining was never an issue, there were too many to choose from! Overall great hotel, would definitely come back again.

Cheap 5 star hotel with giant rooms

Typical Chinese 5 star hotel. Not great service or English knowledge, but fantastic value. Floor to ceiling windows gave amazing views of Shenzhen and the pool on the 31st floor was adequate and also with the amazing view

New hotel with great rooms, bad guest service

The rooms are one of the nicest city hotels that I've seen. Location is good for doing business around town and getting decent food around. However, bad customer service at the restaurants, gym, hotel ground and indifferent lobby staff ruined our stay. As a foreign business traveler that constantly go to different cities, being able to get help from hotel staff and if the hotel staff would make me feel at home are important and it determines how I would rate a hotel. It appears that the hotel management did not train their staff to be customer oriented and \"customer is always right\" concept does not exist at this hotel. Unless you plan on just using the hotel rooms for overnight stays, I would not recommend this hotel.
