We loved our stay here. Small and quiet boutique hotel whcih is perfect for a vwry chilled time. Property does not have access to a beach and has a lot of stairs but it is on top of a cliff with wonderful oceam views and easy 2 min walk to the small village nearby and 5 mins walk down hill to beach

Friendly, almost family like atmosphere. There was (needed) renovations going on during our stay, but that didn’t matter too much.
We found breakfast a bit average and inconsistent but not for lack of trying and friendliness.
Overall a pleasant stay that could have been made perfect with a little more attention to detail (soap, lighter for candles provided in the room…. Just little things)

Charming boutique hotel with amazing views. Within walking distance to Kantiang Beach, restaurants and shops. Front desk staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Special shout out to Auf.
Breakfast staff were efficient and friendly.
The only downside would be that it took a long time to get a drink from the bar.

The sunset was amazing and watched it from my private, cliff side patio. The staff and food were excellent, especially the quiet/shy guy (Golf?) - he made the best coffee and mixed drinks.

Nice quiet place to relax. Comfortable rooms. Mattress topper available if you don’t like a firm bed. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Breakfast was great! Best hotel breakfast we had the entire time we traveled. The pool needed attention. It was cloudy.

We had the most wonderful time at the Houben.
Eric and his team are brilliant and made our stay very special. The team are very knowledgeable and View offered really great advice and recommendations of the Koh Lanta.
Breakfast is very good and the hotel offers a happy hour every day to watch the amazing sunsets from the sun terrace. (Thanks to Yok for the lovely service and drinks)
The location was perfect, the beach is a 10 minute walk and there are lots of lovely places to eat within walking distance.

We were very excited to stay at The Houben, especially given the star rating and the price we were paying compared with the rest of our 2 week trip in Thailand. The property was extremely disappointing that had the feeling of a rundown property.

There's a laundry list of problems which were immediately noticeable at checkin: walking into the room, you notice cabinet doors are crooked and everything feels broken. We decided to use the red pool until we noticed that it had dyed our bathing suits with red marks in several areas that required scrubbing to get out. I resigned to using the bathtub seen in the photos, but was disappointed when I quickly learnt that 45 minutes later, I was unable to still unable to fill the tub with a slow tap and definitely with lukewarm water.

Lots of other small things: hairdryer didn't work, safe didn't operate, internet didn't work.

All in all, would not recommend staying here if you're looking to relax.

Last week we were at The Houben we had one of the best experiences in a Hotel. Starting with the manager, Eric, who from the first minute was attentive to every need and plan we had. He was aware not only of the tours they book for you but also of the ones we did with other people. Each of their employees from the reception, waiters, cleaning crew, were very efficient, and above all friendly. Each one of them treats you with great respect and always with a smile. The fact that it is a hotel with few rooms surely helps them focus on giving you great service. Our room was always spotlessly clean. The food and cocktails are at the level of the best restaurants on the island. The sea view is one of the best one could hope for. Definitely a great experience that we recommend. We’ll come back!

This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed at the houben the setting is different from most hotels, it’s set on the side of a mountain overlooking the sea it’s very peaceful the breakfast is a la carte and very well presented. The staff are lovely and very helpful.

Highly recommend! My partner and I recently stayed there for 6 nights. We could have stayed much longer! The views from the rooms and deck area are amazing!

Most of all, the staff provide exceptional service. They really go out of their way to ensure you are having a great stay. All staff were great including the front desk staff, house keeping and restaurant staff.

Yok and Golf in the restaurant provided 5 star service! Food was delicious!

Can’t wait to return.

The pool is incredible and the daily visits from monkeys really add to the charm (although just make sure you don’t leave your clothes on the balcony to dry overnight :-) ).

Lovely views from the pool area, out to sea, great to watch the sun go down with a cocktail at happy hour. Pity we could not watch that from our room balcony on the second floor because of the tree in front blocking the view0, this needs, pruning back. The manager was around a lot so I made this suggestion to him. Noisy air conditioner in the room, staff looked at it but made no difference, I learned to live with it switching it off in the night. They are building next door, whilst the noise did not disturb us too much, what did annoy me is the building rubbish the workers were throwing down the cliff to the sea, we as tourists have to pay 10 baht each environmental tax to keep the island clean! Seems the islanders need to learn to do the same. Overall lovely hotel, needs a little tic in places. The staff although very professional, seem to lack a sense,of happiness in their work, not many genuine smiley faces that we had experienced in other Thai hotels. Breakfast was lovely, good food. Did not have dinner here as expensive, tables put out at night but no one ate there, lots of nice restaurants a lot cheaper nearby. Would definitely stay again, but ask for a room on third floor.

Perfect couples retreat

The owner, Eric, and staff at the Houben were very kind and helpful. I will stay here again just to chat with Eric and the staff. They were very accommodating.

The view at the Houben is amazing. Situated in the top of a cliff there is no beachfront but this is easily compensated for by the sunsets.

Cocktails are delicious and the pool is a perfect place for relaxing. It is an adults only resort so there is plenty of peace and quiet to be had.

Amazing location! Little boutique hotel

The sunsets are beautiful from the poolside or balcony! Other reviews have mentioned the weak wifi, which was a bigger problem than we expected because there is no shade or A/C in any of the areas that have decent wifi (basically right beside the pool is the only place), so you get a bit sun-baked every time you go to check your phone. The service is friendly and the owner/manager is on-site every day to take care of everything!

Hotel absolutely perfect with the best sunsets i think we have ever seen. Bath tub on the patio was an added bonus! Room was perfect, so bright and airy and service was fab too. Food was delish and plenty other options close by if you fancy a change. Didnt have breakfast there as felt it was too expensive, 450thb seemed a lot when main evening meals were only around 300thb. Only other complaint would be the monkeys. They charged towards us a few times by the pool which wasnt pleasant but hotel staff were quick to help. Overall, amazing place and will definitely return if we go back to Koh Lanta.ps... the photo won me a bottle of wine from the hotel. Check out their Instagram competition!

Wonderful stay at the houben. Stayed for five nights in a free upgraded room which was great. Turn down service great. Room immaculately cleaned every day. Restaurant on the expensive side but good. Breakfast not to our taste as was mainly Western and small choice of buffet but was of excellent quality. We ate the breakfast the first two days and then opted for some lovely Sea side cafes the rest of the stay.

Great stay. Amazing service. Rooms were spacious, modern, clean,and relaxing - had some hot water issues. The location was pretty quiet - but 5 min walk to great restaurants (Phad Thai rock n roll!!) and bars. The food at the hotel itself was also great (best spring rolls we had), cocktails were also great but a bit pricey. The breakfast was the best we’d had - with tons of choices. Can not beat the service at this place either - the staff is so attentive, and gets to know their guests (ie. cleaned our room when they knew we were at breakfast). We were there in the rainy season though and it was VERY stormy so we found the rooms to be quite loud at night - but this is because of the great location and view - so hard to complain.

Had a great stay5 nights room was large and airy with balcony overlooking pool bed was firm but had good sleep aircon good wifi good bathroom has bath and big shower but as others say a bit dark.
Breakfast was ordered of menu and choices were good and plenty we eat there a few times was good a little more expensive but you are on an island and is small resort had a few Belgian beers were great staff and Shauna were very good nothing too much for them

My favourite stay in Thailand

We arrived at The Houben hours before check in but were immediately met by Shana (owner/operator). Shana immediately had her staff grab our bags and take them to our room while we registered. Shana then took us to our room which was located on the top floor and walked us through the room, which was amazing to say the least. The view from our room provided an unobstructed view of the ocean, the pool and sunsets. We stayed for three of the most relaxing days of our whole trip and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel has scooters available for rental on site an amazing restaurant which serves only the highest quality of food. The included breakfast provided great choices, quality service and amazing food. My only issues was how firm the bed was, which was consistent with every other bed we slept in during our stay in Thailand. The Houben was the highlight of our trip and we hope to return in the future.

All rooms at The Houben overlook the ocean and give a stunning view of the sunset each night. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Shana and the team cannot do enough for you and always greet you with a smile, nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant is good and it was lovely swimming in the quiet pool. I cannot think of anything bad to say. Ko Lanta has quickly become one of our favourite places and when we visit again we will definitely be back to The Houben

Great place for a honeymoon n chill away

Great Service and great facility. Feel of the hotel was good to relax and with their simple zen feel decoration.
It was low peak and we only stayed 2 nights so can't comment for long stay. We have a great time utilizing the pool and enjoying the room Jacuzzi with the great view they offer for all the rooms. All the room face the sea.

Resort is near to 7-11 and small variety of local food, a 5-8 min walk away from resort.
It is away from town and there is no direct access to the beach but you can walk around 8 min to the beach from the 7-11 lane. The staff comes nightly asking if ice is needed for your drinks.

We are need to leave the resort on a early transport to catch the plane at Krabi airport and ask for a pack breakfast to eat on our transport.
Sandwiches, drinks and Yogurt was pack for us in the earlier morning at 6.30am.

If you are looking for night market, high class restaurant and shopping centers this will not be for you.

Perfect location in Kantiang Bay with an amazing cliff side view of the ocean. Hotel is located on the quieter side of the island perfect fit relaxation. There are many good restaurants nearby as well as great options at the hotel restaurant. The rest of the island is easily accessible by motorbike (available for rent through hotel). Wonderful and friendly staff, very modern and comfortable rooms. Would recommend to anyone!

Hotel Staff Did Not Make Us Feel Welcome

While the sunset views of this small boutique hotel are spectacular, the hotel management was either completely unprepared for our arrival or didn't want us staying at the hotel. The hotel is managed by a European family. When I arrived, the owner looked me directly in the face and ignored me as I carried several bags up to the hotel check-in by myself. Inside the check-in, we were again made to feel unwelcome and ignored in favor another patron who was asking about laundry service. Keep in mind, it is a two hour boat and car ride from the airport to arrive here. We were tired, dirty, and in need of a room. Of course, the room was not prepared for us. We were sat in the bar, where we were charged for water (I have to emphasize we were exhausted). We really did try to make the best of it, but we were just not wanted at the hotel. After waiting an hour, we were given a room. Luckily, we were able to explore and enjoy Koh Lanta. The regular working staff at the hotel were pleasant (Thai hostesses, groundsmen, and housekeepers). But the management is just horrible. My instinct tells me we were poorly treated because we were South Asian. Had we been stuck at this \"resort\" it would have been a horrible destination.

Our Fantastic Stay at 'The Houben'

Our recent stay was amazng. The staff were incredibly friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts were fantastic and the restaurant was equally as good. Above all The Houben is a gem in the Ko Lanta hotel scene, ideally located about 200m walk to the village of Kantieng Bay, with its small, but well equiped supermarket, restaurants for dinner or lunch and a safe swimming beach.

Perfect stay at an amazing hotel!

My husband and I spent a few nights here for our honeymoon and the staff really made it special for us. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and perfect. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views. We watched the sunset from our balcony every evening.

Would not stay here again. If you are used to 5 star hotels and resorts, this is not the place for you. If you have been staying in backpacker hostels and 3 star resorts, it would be considered amazing. The whole point of paying that extra money when you book a room, is for the little extras and overall experience, which we did not get at all. For starters, we reached the lobby area and the staff IMMEDIATELY asked what we had organized in regards to our transportation to our next hotel or location tomorrow morning. Already felt rushed out from an exhausting trip! It completely ruined my stay from then on. All I could think about was, these people just want us out, and couldn't relax. Staff are not talkative or smiley at all. Didn't ask how we were, how our trip was, just cold, nothing.
Asked to have our room cleaned 3 times before it was done. I like the way they clean the rooms though. Folded our clothes etc.
Rooms and views, amazing. Can't complain. Location was the best, in the clean part of the island. Many places to eat nearby.
Overall it's a great complex, just needs to change the staff and I would give it 5 stars

Comfortable and chill hotel with great service

The hotel was unforgettably good and the view from the room was gorgeous. Not all was perfect about the room but the great service from the staffs at Houben made the flaws negligible in the end. Housekeeping is done twice a day and we appreciate the hotel's effort in making our stay so comfortable. They remembered our preferences and handled our queries promptly. For that reason, we returned to Houben for our 2nd stay in Koh Lanta. This round we left Houben being even more satisfied than before as they presented us with a bottle of red wine welcoming us for our return stay. This is a personal touch from them which many 5-starred hotels took for granted. This place is highly recommendable to anyone whose purpose of stay is for a recharge or a romantic getaway. Their pool is another great reason to be here. We will return again for the 3rd time.

Beautiful and Relaxing!

This is an excellent hotel if you wish to relax. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bed is one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. The room has a great view and it was wonderful to enjoy the breeze off the ocean. The breakfast was delicious with a number of selections to choose from. It came with great coffee, lattes, tea, fresh juice, and a fruit plate along with the main order. Fresh and tasty better than a buffet. The service and attention was outstanding. There is a small town steps away that has a few dining options. A small, easy to drive motorcycle can be rented for less than $10 for 24 hours to explore the island and other dining options. The beach is about 300 meters away and is safe and clean. This is not a place to party, but great to relax! Not good for those who cannot do any stairs. Great boutique hotel!

The room had a awful smell when we came in. We realized that it is a home fragrance they use to cover the smell of their recent renovation. The boiler was not working properly, as we had unstable hot/cold water during the evening. The Wifi was great and the room was very clean. The breakfast on the first day was good, while the day after was horrible.

Very pleasant stay. Spacious and luxurious rooms individually furnished. Open, friendly and helpful staff. Outside facilities are great (pool, terrace), gym needs refurbishment (color flaking off - seems not to be utilized a lot). The clear downside is breakfast - limited choices and quality are not up to the rest of the hotel (though coffee is great).

We spent 3 nights at the houben and when we left we were very sad.
The hotel is very cute, well maintened and the hotel staff very kind, efficient and always with a smile for the guests.
The sunset view is indeed a plus.
The restaurant for all the tastes.
The area is indeed the best of koh lanta.
Nice beaches around with great charm ( especially bamboo bay). Far from the messy and filthy north.
If you are looking for relax this is the place for you.

We booked because of the design. The pictures represent it really well. Kantiang Bay is a 5 minute walk down the hill, which gives shops and a fab beach.

What really made the stay was the service. Yindee on the front desk was so welcoming and helpful in sorting out trips to other islands / renting cars etc. She and the rest of the team gave a an absolute warmth and attentiveness to our stay without making it feel claustrophic (there are only 15 rooms). 5* service with beautiful setting and fantastic details from the design of the hotel through to branded water and earbuds!

Private and quiet boutique hotel in great location

Spent 6 nights here with my wife on our honeymoon and we both felt it was one of the best overall places we've stayed. Great location which offers privacy and quiet away from the tourist crowds and great staff to top off the experience. Pool was perfect temperature and size (large enough to swim laps). Included breakfast was something we looked forward to each morning with fresh squeezed fruit juices and perfectly shaped omelettes. I would highly recommend The Houben to anyone looking for a relaxing quiet time away from the touristy crowds.

When can we go back?!

The Houben is a lovely modern design hotel in what I believe is the best part of Ko Lanta. The service was great - the staff knew our names and were very attentive, and booked day trips and so on. We had one of the suites with an uninterrupted view of the sea - well worth the extra money as you aren't overlooked at all.
Kantiang Bay is a gorgeous beach with enough restaurants and bars to keep you busy for a few days - its not the most bustling part of Ko Lanta but just perfect for a few days R&R. Try the Kantiang restaurant, Bad Penny bar, Drunken Sailors for a quick bite, and Why Not bar for some live music later on in the evening.

breakfast service was slow, orders were consistently misunderstood and it generally felt like staff weren't that bothered about delivering excellent service in the restaurant,

main thing that i found very tacky - breakfast was from a set menu, where you were promised tea/coffee, a fruit plate, fruit juice and a hot meal - they always forgot the fruit juice, and for the fruit we were expected to SHARE one tiny plate between two of us!!!! not impressed to be hones,t wouldn't stay again

Great boutique hotel for romantic getaway

Great little boutique hotel. Great for couples looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic stay. Very good service and facilities. Very clean rooms. Stunning view of the sea from the balcony in the room. Excellent location and only 2-3 minutes walk to a small little village with plenty of restaurants should you wish to dine outside the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel was average. Could do with some improvement. Food on the a la carte menu was good quality but a little expensive. However there were plenty of other restaurants outside the hotel to choose from.

Wonderful boutique hotel

The Houben Hotel faces the Andaman sea and is an oasis of quietness and beauty. The owner is a Belgian interior designer, and every detail has been attended for. The rooms are wonderful, spacious and quiet, and have amazing sea views. While not a fan of hotel restaurants in general, I made an exception for this one due to the incredible views one can enjoy while eating, after sipping cocktails on the patio, by the swimming pool. The staff is very friendly, special thanks to Ms. Yindee for her friendliness and help with organizing local excursions and activities.

Staff organised everything - transport, tours, info, even breakdown service when we got a flat tyre and take out breakfast when we had early tour.

Stayed at the privilege suite for one night with my partner as a birthday gift to myself. Waking up to see the sea in front of you while still in bed is absolute bliss. The room, hotel, restaurant (great menu, fresh food and even vegan-friendly), staff, view - all amazing. We felt like we were in paradise!

Wonderful Place to stay - Amazing sunsets

We are an Aussie couple who stayed at the Houben for 3 nights.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Houben - the hotel is new with modern decor. Our room was fab with the deck out onto the pool. You can watch the sunset enjoying cocktails by the pool in the afternoon.
The service was outstanding.
The hotel is south on the island with a beach nearby and a few bars and restaurants.

We spent 5 nights at The Houben and after a few difficulties with finding the hotel after being given poor directions, the rest of our stay was fantastic. Very accommodating staff, fantastic food and a large selection of Belgium beers to try.

I would stay here again if I return to Ko Lanta

We booked this hotel last minute when moving from Ko Phi Phi to Ko Lanta. Really nice modern design with good amenities. The staff are extremely attentive and the food is very good. There is a lovely pool and a gorgeous view out to sea. Beach is a short walk away as are local shops.

If you land on the Krabi airport you have to take in consideration that you will spend aprox. 2h30min on the way to the hotel and exchange 2 ferries if it is in the Munson season, otherwise I understood that you can take directly the boat from Krabi to Koh Lanta. The price of the transfer from the airport to the hotel and the way back was about to 3,600 thai batt per person. We travelled as 3 single women, so we booked a room for 3 persons for 4 nights.We had enough space in the room and all the facility needed (clean bedsheets, clean towels for bathroom and beach, nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, tooth brush and tooth paste, anything that you would need when you are not in your house). Most of the staff is very friendly and polite and helpful. The food and the drinks are very good, but the prices are a bit high. The view from the room and from the pool is wonderful. There is no direct way from the hotel to the beach even if you face the ocean, you have to walk like 5 mins from the hotel from the beach, but it was a nice walk. We went one day for a hike to the National Park and it was very nice, except the experience of the aggressive monkeys that try to steal everything if you are not aware, try to keep all your belongings near you and especially the food, they will try to attack you if you don't give them the food. We went for 1 day trip to Koh Rok island for snorkelling in 3 places.The local people are very friendly. We enjoyed a lot trip!

it's as untouristy as it gets.

I've got to be honest to say that the hotel may not be for everyone, esp people looking for an adrenaline rush, things to do and beautiful beaches. The distance of the hotel from the airport is also a surprise (the private car had to get on 2 ferries, total journey was about 2-3hrs).

BUT!

If you are looking for a place to unwind, to spend time with your significant other, enjoy the gorgeous hotel facilities, the crazy view from the balcony and the room, then bingo, you've got it! The place is just too luxurious, extremely clean, modern and functional. It was sucha pleasure to just lounge around, reflect on life and let go. Ironically, the lack of much food choices meant there's not too much brainwork each day- in line with the sloth mentality for the holiday.

Activities-wise, there are the usual elephant rides, trekking and kayaking. One perk of going during the lull period-- the skies held up and we were the only ones on the tours!! The kayak ride around the mangrove swamps and caves were surreal, almost like a dream.

It was such a great trip, everything I was looking for.

Amazing room and beautiful view!

Stayed at the second floor, and the view from the room (Andaman sea and the pool) was just amazing! And my room had a bathtub that had a sea view as well.

The hotel was quiet due to the small number of rooms and guest which we preferred. Location was secluded which is a pro to us (cos we prefer a peaceful environment) but can be a bit far from eateries.

The beach, which was a short walk from the hotel, was clean and not as crowded.

However, the journey from Krabi airport can take hours. The hotel arranged for us a shuttle minivan (outsource company). The driver could not find us, which resulted in us having to find our own way to the hotel but was still charged for the shuttle minivan.

Other than that, would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back!

Excellent service, gorgeous view, comfortable bed

We felt so welcomed, we liked food, service, view and atmosphere so much - we've extended our stay for 2 extra days! My husband has back problems and is a very light sleeper, he liked the mattress a lot: it doesn't shake when I turn and he doesn't wake up. The view is gorgeous! We could just lay in bed and admire it all day long. Staff is super helpful! Really, really I never felt do comfortable and so welcomed in any hotel. I also enjoyed the design, I named it modern primitivizm :) Pool is not too big, but can be used for laps. The beach is 5 minutes walk from hotel, and it is a better and cleaner beach then one we had in Koh Samui. It is sandy, with gradual descend, sometimes it has waves - and it's lot's of fun even for adults. I've ordered oil massage in hotel and it was amazing, so relaxing, I still begin to breath deeply, just by remembering it. The time I've ordered Thai massage, and I liked oil better. The hotel located sort of at the edge of a small village, about 6 km from national park (we walked there - it can be done, but very hard, especially if you only took one water bottle), so if you like a lot of excitement, shopping, city life - it's not for you, for everyone else - it's excellent!

Unexpected surprise after hours of traveling!

We arrived at Krabi airport in the afternoon at 4:30pm. The journey to Ko Lanta took about 3.5 hours (traffic, waiting time, dropping off) as we took the shared minivan to get to The Houben. However upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by Ms Shanna and her team, and we were graced with a pleasing stay! The room is spacious and modern and very well equipped. The balcony (and washroom) faces the sea and the view is magnificent! Will definitely be back for more when we come back to Krabi in the future!

If you walk down the street outside The Houben (just about 5 mins or so), you will find the basics like food (try The Drunken Sailor and Rock n Roll Phad Thai!) and pubs!

The houben is one of the nicest hotel I've been too ! The view was breathtaking and the room is big n chic! The whole feel is relaxing ,one would just want to stay in hotel to chill than to go out .

We had some issue with internet n the solution was to loan us a modem n it didn't come and we have to keep resquesting .

Love the toast with coconut grating. It was unique and nostalgic for me. The poached eggs were too dry and we didn't enjoy it .

The first day we had fresh juice but the second seem like from packet drink . Wasnt sure why the difference .

The staff was helpful n friendly . Helping us to book day tour n car rentAl . The location is may not be accessible but it is a place worth going for .

Getting away does not mean exile

Hotel room and hotel itself was very nice. The pool/lounge area was superb and tranquil. Air conditioning was binary and would have been much better if it was a variable speed motor instead of being too cold or just blowing humid air. Food options at the hotel were limited and below par. All the local establishments were barely edible, and one of them gave us severe food poisoning. Anything worth visiting was at least a 15-25 minute taxi ride, and taxis and food were highly overpriced. In a remote area like Ko Lanta, spend the extra money and go to a higher end resort where one doesn't need to leave to get supplies or food.

The design in the top island !

We very much enjoyed our stay at the HOUBEN. It was so nice, peacefull, nice designed, with the visit of monkeys in the garden. The red pool, the nice owners, the very charming people making all the best for our confort. We were on the must beautiful island in a cocoon. Without lift, very good for the fit people ! Near the little center, the great restaurant and bar upstairs (the first one, 50 meters down on your left) - the tourism information 60 meters down on the left, with Mussa's information for the next trip by boat in Lipe and Koh Yao Noi (amazing place with rocks in the water like in Halong Bay). The Houben gave me a book from the library without charging me anything, but chuuuuttttt !!! It's a little secret between us, don't tell it to anybody :-) Merci Mademoiselle !

This place looks like a Bond villain's holiday home - in a good way!
It was a welcome haven from the chaos of Phi Phi and we were glad to find it - we didn't venture out of the hotel complex for three days, we were that content. Peace and quiet, a nice small pool, great views and comfy loungers.
It's small in an exclusive way and looks great - if you're looking to chill on Lanta, look no further.

The Houben is the perfect hotel for those wanting personalized and world-class service. There are only 15 rooms, so you really get to know the staff and they you. The staff (particularly Shana and Yindee) go above and beyond ot make sure your stay is confortable. They even booked all of our activities and transportation issues for us, so there is literally no stress. The location is gorgeous, quiet, and secluded. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars across the board is due to the fact that the hot water never really gets completely \"hot\". I am guessing that this is due to the fact that they heat their water with solar heating, so to me, the environmental benefits more than outweighs the slight inconvenience. And you are still able to have a comfortable shower, so it really did not take away from our experience at all, but I just wanted to give full disclosure. I can not recommend this hotel enough.

Lovely boutique hotel, perfect for a romantic stay

Well-designed hotel with a lovely pool with the sunset over the cliffs. Really nice and helpful staff, who always made us feel attended to. It's a perfect hotel for couples - there's a no children allowed policy making it really relaxing and romantic. We left just as it was getting busier and we liked it more when it was still during \"low season\", as the hotel was slightly more peaceful. Breakfast was of a good standard. In terms of location, we really liked it as we came here to unwind but it depends what you're after. It's not a party place, it’s more about the laid-back and relaxing atmosphere. You've got a fair few local restaurants (&bars) in the village by the hotel with some great food (e.g. Phad Thai Rock 'n' Roll and Drunken Sailor). There is also a 7-eleven super market and places to rent scooters and book tours, if that's what you want. The beach is within 5mins walking distance, and although it might not have the white sand and crystal clear water, it was a lovely secluded beach, where you could always find a private spot just for yourselves. All in all, we would definitely come back! P.s. in terms of transport to the hotel: if you want to get the cheaper, shared shuttle service (ca 500Baht/person/way) from Krabi airport, ask the hotel to book this for you in advance, as there is nowhere at the airport to book this directly. Instead you get a bus down to Krabi, and then wait up to 1 hour for a shared service to arrive, it’s more expensive plus it wastes your time.
